Chapter 7 " The return of the wicked"
Part 2 Asuka
Asuka waited in the elevator. She didn't know when it will stop or where it will stop and nor did she cared. She just wanted to to get away for a little from all the noises and people,to find a bit of peace for once in her life. She only knew pain and betrayal I her whole life so this something that she deserved at the very least.
She still waited. After what seemed like an eternity the elevator stopped.
When the doors opened they reveal the same corridors that were in Nerv headquarters and an annoying yet familiar blue haired figure.
Asuka Langley Soryu rose her eyes in frustration. At of all the people in world she had known this was by far the worst.
Both of them didn't say anything to eachother and the blue haired just toggled along in the ride. The elevator started again.
After 5 long minutes of silence Asuka decided to break the ice.
"Just spilled already and tell me where is the idiot is." Said Asuka with her fairy attitude.
"I am pretty sure you have already heard what he did." Answered Rei with her cold voice.
"Everyone says that he gave the opportunity to leave this but don't believe them, no way in hell he would do that."
"Maybe he isn't all of what you think of him. It is true, he did gave all a second chance. In fact, he was the first and the only one to have left."
"What? Impossible why would the idiot ever leave he has everything that he wants here."
"Perhaps he didn't find what he was looking for. At least that was the impression he gave me when we spoke."
Asuka was taken back with those words, she might say that wonder girl is lying but she was someone who always said the truth. But what she couldn't believe was out of all the people in this place he was the only one to reject and return to the same world that broke him in the first place and the fact that he gave this opportunity to everyone astounded her.
"So what are you gonna do now?" Asked Rei.
"Send me back I have some unfinished business with the idiot, besides I don't like this place either. Everyone knows what you are, who you are, what you think, what you believe. I thought that instrumentality will at least give me some peace but it only make things worse for me."
"So you made your decision."
"Yes. "
"Alright then." As she said that the elevator stopped and revealed an endless white.
"That's your way to the outside, if you followed without going elsewhere you will find your exit." She showed to her.
"Seems fair to me."
Asuka started walking to the path. It looked massive without end and begining, it was white everywhere.
"I hope you find what you are looking for."
With that saying Rei closed the door of the elevator and leaving Asuka alone.
Asuka didn't look behind but instead kept on walking on her path until the white become so big that she couldn't see anything.
"Disgusting."
That's the only word that could come out of her mouth. Her life was disgusting, her friends were disgusting, her pride was disgusting, he was disgusting, she was disgusting, her actions were disgusting, his actions were disgusting, everything up until this moment was disgusting.
She wasn't any better than the idiot. Speaking of which he was crying infront of her like always. But this time it was different he was crying for what he did, he probably now realized that she was the real deal and not a fake phantom.
But what was the most disturbing was the reaction she made when she saw him once more. He tried to strangled her, because of course he will do, he is an idiotic pervert that liked idiotic girls on his side. But ut that look though. Asuka Langley Soryu never back down in the face of danger nor did she ever feared an opponent before, but that look was so dead , so broken, so inhuman that she will wished to never seen it again. So then why did she offered her hand on him ? Did she do as way to begg for her life ? Did she do out of curiosity to see what will happened ? Did she do that as sign of relief to his actions ? Or did she do that to show some sort of understatement and effection to the boy ? That was question that she couldn't answer from all sides of it.
But as she was thinking all of that she suddenly spotted a weird figure. She couldn't figure out if it was a woman or a man nor did she was able to find any specific characteristic other than being very slim. Too slim some can say.
It was at the top of the white giant's head . She looked it carefully to see what's it gonna do. The figure could clearly see them despite the very distance. As it was looking at them it moved one of its hands and pointed at them. Then, massive wreath of light was coming towards them.
Asuka's eyes widened, if they don't move now it will hit them both. Asuka tried to say something but her lips felt like they were sealed, so she tried to get the attention of the idiot , but the idiot was so focus on his sadness that didn't realize what was happening and before she knew it everything became white once again.
Then she suddenly awaken in a bed.
"Ahhhhhh."
She get up to see were she was. She looked around, only to recognise her old room she used to have when she was at the military base of Germany before she started the journey to Japan.
"Shinji? Shinji? Where the hell do you go ?" She found weird to call him by his actual name for once but she at least hope that he survived the beam. But by the looks of it seems that even she didn't know where she was.
She looked at her digital clock, it was 6:00 in the morning and by the my bags it looked that she was leaving for Japan today.
This weird. She thought. Why I am here? The next thing I am the beach with the idiot and then BANG I am here. She couldn't comprehend what just happened.
She was going through many possibilities and non of them made any sense. She just didn't know what to do.
She decided to go to the bathroom and throw some water on her face to wake up for good. But as she opened the light she was shocked at what she saw.
The same scars that hurt her skin from her last battle are visible again. But there aren't as big as they were, the looked more like little scratches . As for the left eye thought, it didn't change much but instead of the bright blue it usually was, it is now a bit darker, close to purple some can say. It is like blood had invaded her left eye and then washed away afterwards only to leave bit of it behind.
"Main God. Look at me, it is like a truck run over me." To be fair that sentence was much realistic than the actual true.
" What hell I am going to do now? Live throughout all this again?"
But then it hit her.
"That person who was at the head of wonder girl, he was probably the one who did this."
But then other questions rose.
"But why thought? What does he wins with sending a fucked up girl in the same shit she endured ? "
"Wait, I might not be the only one who got transferred here." She started to reconsider what happened.
"I wasn't the only who got hit by the blast, the idiot was infront of me so he should at least had the same fate as me. But, where is he thought?"
"Oh, questions and more questions, I need to take a break and something , all this head scratching made tired and hungry."
As she exited the room and headed to the cafeteria she bumped into a familiar face.
"Wow, kiddo careful where you going."
Asuka was astounded by that voice. It was she never knew she will hear again.
"Kaji." She said with enthusiastic.
" The one and only, now tell me.." But before he could finished his sentence he interrupted by the strongest hug he ever in his life.
"Wow, relax kiddo you don't need to worry I am here. Now tell thought did somebody hurt you?"
"Ha, like anyone could have the balls to go up against the great Asuka Langley Soryu." That line didn't give the same pride it gave back then, only a bit of glimpse of happiness, to make her day better.
"Okay, okay, I get it. So what made you wake up so early in the morning ? I was going to leave the food I bought for you to your room but you wake up already."
"I ... I just had a bad nightmare that's all. By the way what have you bought me?" She didn't say the truth because: a) none will believe her and b) she wasn't sure what's was going on.
" Your favourite, paprika chips." He said as he revealed a bag of paprika chips.
"AHH, THAT'S MY FAVOURITE GIVE THAT." Without a second thought she snapped the bag of the Kaji hands and opened it with the same quickness she took the chips.
"Wow, you must be really hungry girl, you took it like last seen in almost a decade."
You don't know how close to the truth it is , but she mostly ignored the comment and continued eating without stop.
"So, are you ready?"
"For ghat? She had shuffle so many chips in her mouth she couldn't even talked properly.
"The journey to Japan, don't tell me you have forgot, we are leaving this noon ."
"Oh, that ." It took her a while to realize that she was still on the position of witnessing the same stuff she witnessed before.
" You don't look so excited. If I remember correctly yesterday you were yelling all night about how much you were excited to show to the Japanese "the great pride of Germany" and how you were going to be the best thing that Japan ever received."
Damm, I really was seeking attention back then. Those times felt like lifetime ago. Back then I rely on my strength and pride. Now that have lost both of them I don't know what to feel. Should I be that I will reunite with my 02 ? Yes but not really. It is calming that I get to see my mother again ( at least some part of her) but Eva doesn't give the same satisfaction as before. All my life I dedicate myself to the Evas in order to get people attention but eventually that was the thing that drove them away from me. So now that I am here I don't know what to do should I be happy or sad ? If the Evas doesn't give me the satisfaction that I want then what will? To be honest I don't know what can truly make me happy anymore. I feel empty and lost .
"What's on your mind now kiddo? I am always very curious about what you are always thinking on that head of yours ."
"Ha, nothing to important. How was your day anyway ?"
"A bunch of non stop paper work. I am really jealous of your age little girl, you can do whatever you want and like and you entire world to see. After passing my age you have basically seen it all and you will spend the entire of your life fixing yours and the others mistakes."
Well , definitely you are right on this one Kaji.
"So that's all, anything else?"
"Well I have heard a lot about the new pilot."
" New pilot? " That came out of nowhere
" You haven't heard it ? Japan choose a new pilot . He is the second they have picked. He is a newcomer "
"Ha, he is probably a random prevent they picked out of the street, those Japanese don't shit about choosing the right pilot."
"It doesn't seem like. The rumours said that he is the son of the man who is in charge of Nerv headquarters."
"So a daddy's boy then? It makes no difference from a pervert."
" Don't be so harsh on him , he might be a great person . You might even liked him, he might be very handsome."
Asuka blushed in shameless.
" LIKE HELL NO . I am not going to fall for some pervert boy who can't even know what he wants." The thought of attracted again to idiot really made her mad. She had tried before but he was more confused than she was. I do hate him for what he did to me but at the same time I don't blame him for hating me, after all , all I do is hurting other people. Who will ever love such a broken and disgusting person ?
"It is said that he managed to score 59% on his first week."
"Huh?" That really shocked Asuka. Last he managed to score 40%, but now he scored 59%, he either got very lucky again or his dad been doing more stuff behind the scenes.
"Whatever, he probably got lucky I am pretty sure he sucks in combat." Said Asuka again.
" I can't agree on that either. The reports said that he killed three angels in a row and manage to bring in to submition the "JET ALONE" that had rogue, one of the latest attempt of America to create their robots."
"The Americas will never understand that they will never surpass the might of an Evangelion and I am pretty sure he just got lucky on the other angels, pretty others might have helped him." No way in hell could this idiot be so lucky by accident. Most of the time his previous little mother will swoop to save the day and all hail the invisible idiot. Breh, it makes wanna puke.
" At first I was shocked at first when I heard those news so I bit of a digging. I manage to find some footage from the battles and it was pretty impressive I have to say. He endured most of damage from the angels and manage to turn his pain on theirs with finding their weaknesses. They even have a nickname for him . The "angel's bane" that's what they like to call him and he had earned that title in my opinion."
"Ha, what I lame name, I am pretty sure some random geek from the side came out with that ."
"Well, anyway I have to go, I have some things to cover up for the journey. I also would recommend to see the footage, I have sent them to you, they must have arrived and also... " Kaji stopped for a second as he spotted something different on Asuka.
"What?"
"Those marks where did you get them? I don't remember you to have them."
Oh, shit . She didn't with what kinda of excuse she could come up with.
" Oh, those? I just tripped and hit my shelf last night they don't really hurt, they might be temporary."
"Hmm, hope so. Good luck then, see you at noon." Said Kaji as he was leaving.
"See there." Reply Asuka back.
Fiew, good thing I thought something quick or else I might be in trouble. Now let's prepare for the journey. I have some last things to do.
As she entered her again and prepared her final stuff for the journey, she saw the notifications on her computer.
Those probably are the footage Kaji was talking about. Hmm, I have plenty of time and I am bit bored right now, so why not? Maybe the his stupidity might make my day a little.
But as she opened the files, astounding wasn't the first thing she had expected to feel.
Kaji was right, he did manage to kill three angels in a row with brutal ways. First, he utilise his ground as way to get up and and kill the angel. Second, he outlived the angel as both of them were on the last breath ( and she knows pretty well that those wimps aren't just for show.) Thirdly, he endured the massive beam of the fifth angel, whose beam can cook pretty easy an Eva. The last one was the most impressive. Eva unit 01 manage to throw JET ALONE to the ground with only one hand. It looked like a wrestling technic. He pummeled JET ALONE to the ground and didn't give time to react. He ripped it legs of and do the same with its hands. At the end, the robot turned down from the loss of power and lack of limbs.
I am hating to admit it but this idiot knew what he was doing. All this, is the work of a professional. But what's been bothering me, is that he was able to detect the all the angels weakness easily. Like he knew where the real weak points were. How could he knew? Even Ritsuko took a while to find out for each one. He might know stuff already, he might even working personal with his father. Who knows?
Asuka stopped for a minute and take break from all this head scratching and decided to lay on her for a while and then wondered.
"Hmm, this journey will be more troublesome than it already was."
A/N: And that's the beginning of part 2. I really was excited to begin it, because this one and the next one will be the ones who will be most spicy, in terms of story ideas and elements.
