Chapter 50

Hiccups POV:

It's been seven days since I defeated Babajide and his stone jaguar and those days have been anything but comfortable for me. I admit the first day wasn't so bad since the people threw a big celebration in honor of my victory and the final defeat of Babjide. After the night of the big celebration I normally sat down as children came to ask me to tell them of my fight with the stone jaguar with some of the younger children sat on my lap. I admit it was rather nice and it did feel good while also making me think about my future with children of my own. Now I didn't mind the children asking me things or telling them stories of my adventures and I was all right if a few people around my age or some adults came by to listen to me. The problem was the women who were interested in talking to me afterwards and often did so by grabbing my arm and pressing themselves up against me. I also had to dodge a few girls who tried to steal a kiss from me and some were nearly successful in their attempts. Then there's the guards who have been asking me for tips on fighting with weapons and I admit at first it wasn't so bad but then they started begging me to be their new guard captain which I turned down since I wasn't staying permanently and this of course brought on the problem of Eadrich.

Now I admit he is a nice guy and a great friend but since I stopped the stone jaguar he's been pestering me to move to go back to my island to gather all my belongings and move here to El Dorado. He tried to sell the idea by telling me that should I move here he will give me a high standing in the community and spending the rest of my days living as a god. When I turned him down the first time he told me to at least give the life of a god a try and seeing he was not going to give up easily I agreed to give it a one day trial. That one-day wasn't so bad but I was not going to live that way since it wasn't my style to spend my mornings being carried around a city and worshipped while spending my afternoons being weighted on hand and foot by beautiful woman. It took me a while to get it through Eadrich's head that I wasn't going to stay in El Dorado but I would come by to visit from time to time since I was able to open up a portal door in the room I stay in. He understood this but warned me that this wouldn't stop the girls of El Dorado from their attempts to ensnare me as a husband. Still though he told me that he wasn't going to let me leave without a token of his people's gratitude for what he did for them. He was having some men carving me a boat out of a large log so I could travel down a secret river that would lead me back to the main river that would take me back to the other Mayan city so I could get back faster. I thanked him for this figuring I could use the ship for light travels here in the jungle.

There's also the golden Quetzalcoatl who didn't do much unless I told him to or when I asked him something but I must admit when the sun shines onto him he looks beautiful. I had been trying out the shield that I got from the gods through different methods and I had to say like my star sword it was way more powerful then I originally thought. I had a guard attack me with my gronkle iron sword to see how strong this shield was. To say I was surprised by the results was an understatement since not only did it break my sword but it also made a shockwave that blasted the guard ten feet back. Now that was a surprise I was definitely not expecting nor was the other surprises like when I saw a little girl caught in a rockslide and ran to protect her by shielding her with my body and shield. Much to my amazement not a single rock touched us since somehow the shield expanded slightly to cover us from the falling ruble which much to my shock, didn't way a thing and when I tried to lift up my shield it literally sent the rocks flying a good long distance. After that I got a lot of praise from the people for saving one of their own but unfortunately this also got me a lot of attention from the girls who saw me as a savior.

I still saw the little girl all the time since she was always there to listen to my stories and was always the first to hop onto my lap now. It was from these meetings that I learned her name was Colel, she's five years old and with her family it was just she, her sister and her mother since her father was sacrificed when she was a baby. I'd often take her home to her mother who was always grateful to me for saving her daughter and bringing her home. From these visits I found out her sister was the one I first saw trying to escape El Dorado with some gold. Apparently, her sister wanted to get out of El Dorado since she wanted out of the city which killed her father to see the world beyond it. I couldn't blame her for that since I wanted out of Berk for so long to see the world myself. This did bring up a few problems though since she spent a lot of time flirting with me at dinner and even more so after that dinner often using her sister as an excuse to come and speak to me. She would mostly keep asking me about my travels and the places I've been to like the things that you could only find in those places like the sphinx and pyramids of Egypt or the temples of Rome. She was curious about it all since she's spent her entire life in El Dorado and wanted to see the world beyond the city. This led to her often trying to convince me to take her with me when I leave but I told her that I couldn't since I doubt her family would allow it and I prefer to travel with just my dragons. This however only made her more persistent in her attempts to get me to take her with me and even became a little bolder to the point where she snuck into my room at night and tried to seduce me but all this got her was an escort home from the guards. Now I just did my best to either avoid her or ignore her.

Presently I was up in the sky on Toothless in my regular armor looking over the city of El Dorado and enjoying the scenery that it offered. It was always so relaxing to see another culture from the sky and to just embrace the beauty of it all so I could take it all in. The ship I've been given will be ready by this afternoon meaning I could leave tomorrow so in the mean time I'll be enjoying my remaining time here in El Dorado and also thinking of where a sixteen-year-old like me should travel next. It was a big world and I wanted to see it all but I didn't know where to travel next. I figured it was best I focus on this trip for now and see what happens since I might get twisted up in another storm which takes me somewhere else like what happened to me when I first visited Egypt. Who knows where life will take me next so it's best to just wait and see. I had Toothless take us in for a landing at the bottom of the temple that had my room at the top and where the golden Quetzalcoatl rested on the roof keeping an eye out for trouble while Nimla flew around the city.

When I got to the top I took notice of the huge pile of gold items that was just past the entrance and shook my head. Ever since I took down Babajide people have been giving me offerings of gold items for stopping him and even though I told them it wasn't necessary they insisted. I knew that a lot of these gifts from girls' fathers and nobles who were trying to convince me to stay in El Dorado to either get their sisters married to me or wanted to get in my good books since I'm in the gods good books. I walked past the gold and took off my regular armor and lay back on the couch as Toothless took a drink of water. Once I was out of my armor and just wearing a pair of pants I lay back against the couch with my head tilted back so I was looking up at the ceiling and closed my eyes to think back on everything I've done in El Dorado and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Morning

I was now on my new ship with Toothless and Nimla up front, my gold in the back and the golden Quetzalcoatl guarding it all. I let out a yawn as I looked out at the river in front of me thinking back to the big party the people threw me last night to say goodbye. It was amazing since there was so much going on like the food, the dancing, the kids play depicting my fight against the stone jaguar, joking with Eadrich and so much more. It really took a lot out of me to just walk up the steps and lay on the couch but it didn't take much for me to fall asleep since I was out the second my head hit the pillow. I looked out at the jungle as it passed and knew I had to enjoy it since Eadrich said it would take me a total of three days to get back to the other city. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the sound of the jungle but was brought out of it when I heard the sound of a loud roar, which sounded familiar but at the same time different. It seemed Nimla knew the sound since her head perked up and she roared back before taking off. I didn't even have a chance to stop her to ask what she was doing, where she was going or what was going on. I wanted to follow her but there was something telling me that I should just let her go for now. I turned back to the river and just prayed to every god I knew to keep her safe since the last thing I wanted to lose my Nimla.

Three days later

We had just arrived back at the city dock and I was glad to be back and I could tell Ikan was glad to have me back if him flying onto my shoulder when my ship came close was any indication. When we docked a lot of people ran to meet us and it wasn't only me they came to see if the way some of them were looking at my ship and its cargo was any indication. I dropped the plank and saw Gukumatz walking to the front of the large crowd that was forming. He kept a straight face as he took one look at my new ship and the gold on it before turning to me and smiled as he asked.

"Good trip?" I just chuckled.

"Some of it good and the rest I would say I am lucky to be alive."

"Was it really that bad?"

"You have no idea."

"That bad huh?"

"I'll tell you all about it but first where are my jaguars?" He got a look on his face which I did not like the least bit.

"Well Hiccup you've always been honest with me so it's only right I'm honest with you when I say I have no idea where they are." I felt fear grip me hearing this.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Well you see Hiccup they ran off into the jungle three days after you left and I did send our trackers after them but it's as if they vanished into thing air." I felt my heart wrench at this before turning to Toothless.

"Bud! Get ready to fly!" I turned back to Gukumatz. "Make sure nobody touches my ship or gold and keep in mind I know every bit of gold on that ship." He just nodded before turning back to the crowd as I mounted Toothless. "Let's find our jaguars bud!"

Nightfall

We just got back from the jungle and I have to say I was not happy since I searched everywhere for my jaguars and everywhere I went I didn't find them. When I got home that night I had a hard time falling asleep with the worry of something happening to the jaguars that I raised from cubs. I skipped dinner and just went to bed and collapsed right into the bed praying to every single deity I've either met or heard of to take care of my jaguars and to bring them back to me before falling asleep.

Five hours later

I woke up when I felt something rough and a little wet rub against my cheek and when I opened my eyes I almost screamed in joy when I saw my beautiful Maya with her front paws on the bed as she looked back at me while my Ah Tabai was on the floor looking up at me. I immediately got out of bed and hugged them both before I pulled back to get a better look at them. It was then I noticed that Ah Tabai had a bleeding scratch on his right shoulder. I dragged him into the study where I kept the medical supplies and began tending to his wound while asking.

"What happened to you?" I then recognized the scratch came from another jaguar and realized what happened. "You get in a fight with another male over who gets a female?" He just looked down which was all the answer I needed. "Did you beat him and get the girl?" He just perked his head gave a small growl and I smiled before tending to his wound and once I finished patching him up I turned to Maya. "So, did you meet any suitable males to give you some cubs."

She just gave a gentle growl to confirm it and I smiled knowing that I'd have some new cubs to help watch over in my jungle soon enough. I knew I wasn't going to meet Ah Tabai's cubs though since the thing about jaguars is that after they've mated the male and female go their separate ways with the female raising the cubs. Occasionally she would have to protect them from their father who would want to mate again and could not do so with the female looking after the cubs. I didn't like it but that was just nature's way and who knows what might happen in the future since for all I know I might find some more orphaned cubs to raise. For now, though I had my Maya and Ah Tabai back.

Twelve days later

I was on my main ship traveling home with Scaulder pulling my main ship while Scauldra pulled my new ship which no longer held all my gold since I moved it all onto my main ship. After I got my jaguars back I opened a portal in my house so I would be able to come and go from the city whenever I wanted. This was a fact Gukumatz was quite pleased about as were the girls of the city and sure enough Gukumatz had a big celebration not only to celebrate me being able to come more often but to also celebrate my victory in El Dorado and earning the blessing of the gods. Sadly he announced my victory in El Dorado and my blessing of the gods to the entire city and this got the expected results from the people. Men were trying to become my best friends while girls constantly tried to get my attention by wearing jewels and loose clothing, walking up to talk to me, sitting close when I sit down in public to read and some had even snuck into my house when I was out and cooked a meal for us to share which I did admit I enjoyed but I often enjoyed it after the guards came and took them away. It happened so often that I had to ask Gukumatz to have a guard near my house and have him join me when I went inside to take care of the girl. I am grateful to the guard but I wish I didn't need him to the point where I called him in five times in the first three days.

Worst of these girls however was Noonsa who was escorted out of my house by the guard the most and was a little bolder than the other girls. She's had been an absolute nightmare to deal with since I couldn't even walk through the city without her trying to steal a kiss from me. When it came to her sneaking into my house I would've preferred it if she just made me a meal since then I would have gotten a free meal out of it. Instead she snuck into my room one night before I got home and waited for me by lying on her side on my bed wearing an outfit that left little to the imagination. Long story short she tried to get me to join her in the bed but I just excused myself and got the guard who dragged her away as she told me that she wasn't giving up on me that easily.

I looked down at my top deck and saw Nimla who was curled up with our newest addition to our group. A Quetzalcoal, which I gave the name Gabor. I remember meeting him when I was out for a flight with Toothless who was enjoying the sounds of the jungle and so was I but it was as we flew I heard a familiar roar. I had Toothless follow the roar that I recognized belonged to Nimla and I was afraid something might have happened to her. When we did find her she wasn't hurt but wrapped up with another Quetzalcoatl, which had navy blue scales and wings that were a dark purple with an aqua green underbelly. I admit we didn't get on so well at first since when he saw me he thought I was a threat and tried to squeeze the life out of me until Nimla roared at him, which got him to let me go. After that she nuzzled his head and then I realized he was the one who let out that call that Nimla followed and what I now realize was a mating call. He bowed to me, which I believe was he apologizing before I held my hand out and bonded with him. After that he came back with us to the city where our bond grew stronger and the rest is history.

Nimla wasn't the only one to find a little love in the jungle since Ikan met a female Harpy eagle and they had made a nest in my Mayan home. I had given the girl the name Akna after the Mayan Goddess of childbirth since I found eggs in the nest they made. We get along well and I was trying to train her using fish I feed her which I admit was going well if her flying to my arm whenever I held it out for her was any indication.

I was brought out of my thoughts when my island came into view and I have to say I was glad to be home. Once we docked with putting my new ship in the ship shed. Long story short when I got off the ship I was nearly drowned in drool and saliva from not only my dragons but wolves to and I admit I liked it since it meant they cared. Once they all calmed down enough I stood up from my position on the ground caused by the tackles I received and said.

"Okay guys take it easy!" I gave Frost and Hazel a rub on the head. "Now guys we have a lot of stuff to unload so for now we have work to do and when we're done then we'll catch up on everything." They just let out growls or barks in my wolves' cases before I opened up the door to my cargo hold so we could begin unloading.

Four hours later

I was now making my way to the volcano on Toothless with the piece of green crystal I got from the Mayan gods in my hand, which was glowing and shaking, as we got closer. I would have done it sooner but I'd been pretty busy with everything from unloading all my treasure that I was still organizing since I needed to build more shelves for my vault to hold the golden statues, plates, bowls, cups and more. Seriously I had a whole lot more work to do after I sorted this out. The Macahuahuitl I got from Babajide now hung on the wall in the trophy room and underneath it on a pedestal was Babajide's mask with a small wooden stand behind it to hold it up. I had moved Ikan's and Akna's nest into the Mayan jungle as gently as I could since Akna was still sitting in the nest to look after the eggs. It wasn't easy finding a place Akna liked but she took well to a place that overlooked the river. Nimla was still giving Gabor a tour of the jungle, which he seemed to take to like a fish to water if his roar of joy was anything to go by.

I was brought out of my thoughts when we reached the top of the volcano I saw the statue of Toothless and surprisingly waiting next to it was the golden Quetzalcoatl. I walked up to the statue of Toothless, which had eyes that were once again pulsing. As I approached the statue it's mouth once again opened and let out the long plasma blast which cracked open the ground and made the crystal model rise out of the ground. I let go of the crystal piece fly out of my hand and slowly take its place as part of the jungle. Once it was in it turned a darker shade of green before the island began shaking and I ran to see the land rise up but as I did my golden Quetzalcoatl flew right past me towards that was rising from the ocean. When it finished rising from the ocean and the crystal model had sunk back into the ground I turned to Toothless and said.

"Well Bud looks like we've got a whole new jungle to explore." He just gave a growl and nod before I mounted him and we took off.

Nightfall

I walked into my bedroom wearing only a set of pants and collapsed onto my bed and let out a sigh going over everything I've been doing since I got back to my island. I had explored my newly expanded Mayan jungle that was now huge and had me exploring for a while. There were now plants, trees and fruits that I didn't have before. It even had a den for my jaguars to rest in but there was one thing it had that completely shocked me. A full sized temple with a room up at the top which was like the one I had in El Dorado except it had two nests for my Quetzalcoatl on either side of the throne. Also the temple since beneath this room was a dark room with a single circular pool in the center. I'm not sure what it was for but I new it was important if the bejeweled gold lining on the edges with ancient Mayan runes, the floor being a Mayan calendar, the statues of the gods against the walls and the torch hanging above it was anything to go by. Normally I would read the runes but these were completely ancient even by Mayan standards and would definitely take me time to translate them but from what I could tell the room was a place for me to worship the Mayan gods which gave me ideas for a place in the desert where I could worship the Egyptian gods. Other than that I also started drawing up blue prints for a special vault in my armory for my weapons from the god since I now had a sword and shield and if it kept up I'd have a large arsenal of weapons to wield. All I could say was my next few weeks were going to busy for me with a whole lot of planning, construction and exploring. I knew I would also have to deal with my father and explain to him everything that happened and if I knew my dad he was going to be yelling at me till he's blue in the face for risking my life like I did.

AN: Hey all I know this chapter wasn't too exciting but keep in mind I'm still getting back into writing none episode chapters. I would however like to once again thank 'Red dragon 112293' for all his help including recent ideas he's come up with for a chapter I am looking forward to writing later. Until next time keep your reviews kind.
