Chapter 8 " Catching the leviathan."
Part 2 Asuka
It was a sunny day just like last time but this time Asuka didn't know what to feel off this.
She wasn't really excited about piloting again. All this time she was lying to her shelf about getting admiration for her status, she just wanted people to looked at her but after seeing how that went she doesn't care about anymore. Her mother was always with her the whole time she didn't need the Eva to prove it.
She was feeling empty and she didn't know why.
But despite all that , I am still here where ever I like it or not, the only thing that left for me to do now is continue forward in whatever that will lead me.
Many thoughts were going over her head but she needed to focus on what's coming now.
Okay, Misato and the trio of stooges will arrive in a minute or so, I must get ready.
She had changed her look this time. Instead of the bright yellow sundress she wore a more dark red dress, she put the sync clips on her pocket and tied her hair together, because she wanted her hair to be more free, in order to cover her left eye a little.
"Hello Asuka, is been ages since I last saw you."
" Hello Misato, is good to see in one place at least." Asuka always hated Misato in to some extent because she was always seeing her as a child and she didn't want to remember that she Kaji's favourite because the fact that she was hitting on Kaji back then makes her puke. But seeing them again was also a curse and a blessing, because on the one hand she was a charming person to listen to ( despite her flaws) but also the same person who did nothing when she was suffering.
"Wow Asuka you really have changed, not only have you grow older but you even change your hair style. Are you doing this for specific person? " Said Misato while teasing a little.
Asuka blushed in frustration and annoyance.
" Oh, shut up already it is just a new hairstyle I thought of giving a try. Now tell me where the hell is your so called ' angel's bane ' I keep hearing about." She didn't like calling out the idiot so early, but if he really did it as the videos showed, then he as fearsome as the say.
Before Misato could say anything a flying hat dropped at Asuka's feet.
Toji was trying to catch it but Asuka stomped it with her left foot. She could just given it but she liked making fun of this monkey.
Without Asuka noticing the air flew again and revealed her panties once more.
Oh, krap with all the satisfaction I got from making fun of the monkey I had forgotten about that.
She tried to covering them but they had already been seen them, so she acted the same way as before.
" BAKA ,HENTAIS." Said as she slapped the three stooges.
But at of the three stooges he was the only one who didn't deserve the slap as he had his eyes elsewhere. Yet despite that, he took it nonetheless.
"If you have a problem of other people seeing your panties, then here this." But before he could undressed his pants he was stopped by a familiar face.
"Honestly Toji do you really need to do that ? You will embarrass your self."
"But..but... but bro I can't let her make fun of me, I need to fight for my pride."
" Hope this isn't the third child which everybody saying."
" That would be me. " The boy stepped forward.
"I am Shinji Ikari pilot of the Eva unit 01. " He offered his hand .
"Forgive my friend, he is very hot headed and he doesn't think about his next actions that much."
" Fine, I would let him pass this time but if he tries to do something funny again this monkey I won't be so merciful." Answered Asuka.
" Oh you little.."
" Just shut up already." They both said in union. They realise what they did and gave small glance to eachother. But they did earn a chuckle from Misato.
"Wow I didn't expect you two will become friends so early, come let's go inside we have many things to do and talk about." Said Misato from behind.
All of them followed her to the main deck. Just like before she showed her (non so reliable) papers to the captain of the ship and ended up with Kaji at the dining room.
Kaji started the conversation as he usually does.
" So you are the third child, I have heard many things about you, tell me how do you feel about name that people gave you, if you ask me I believe you have earned this title."
" It's nothing really. My friend Kensuke over here came up with the name and spread to others, even the people in Nerv started calling me that."
"But the title is so cool bro,we saw how you beat the shit out of those monsters."
" Yeah, Nobody is messing with the 'Angel's bane'." Said Kensuke and Toji.
"You see with what I have deal with? " He said as he pointed to his friends.
Kaji chuckle in response.
"You have great friends Shinji Ikari you should treasure them as much as you would. Now tell me, how did you manage to take down those foes ? If I am not mistaken you took down each one with an effective yet risky way."
"Don't make it to big Mr Kaji, in most of the fights I got lucky and find the right spot. I would have been killed already if it wasn't Nerv backing me up with medical supply." Answered Shinji.
Lucky my ass I saw you how you find pretty easily their weak point and reveal their weaknesses before Nerv could have found it. You might think you can fool all the others, but I am an elite pilot, I have years of training, I know a good fighter when I see one. You hiding something Baka and I will find it.
"Well if even luck is a sense of skill Shinji Ikari and please do call me just Kaji , you don't need to typical with me. Also do tell me ,does Misato still snoring in her sleep?"
Misato decided to interrupt the scene.
"Okay, okay I think we had enough. Asuka why don't you go with Shinji and show him your Eva I am pretty sure he is eager to see , isn't that right Shinji?"
" I never said that."
But before Shinji could say something else Misato pushed the kids out of the room.
Asuka and Shinji sighted in union.
"Grownups." Said together, they glanced eachother once more for 1 minute and Asuka decided to break their silence.
" Where we said we are going?"
"To see your Eva ? "
" Oh, yes right, I had forgotten about. Let's go then."
"Where you guys are gonna do? " Asked Shinji his friends.
" I am going to take more pictures of the ships to add them to my collection." Said Kensuke.
"I will be with him, he might get into trouble and after all the more far away I am from this girl the better." Said Toji.
"Okay, see you then."
"Bye bro and good luck with her you will need it."
"Oh, fuck of stupid monkey." Asuka retorted back.
"Let us continue." Shinji said as way to prevent another fight from breaking out.
" You have picked weird friends in my opinion."
"You can say they picked me and I kinda went along with it. But they are good friends."
I never understood what you and Hikari find in them that I didn't but if that's what made you to come out of from your little shell then it's not that bad.
"Tell me, where did you got those marks? Don't remember Misato telling about marks."
Oh krap he more perceptive than I thought.
"Oh those I just got from accident I haf with the Eva nothing to much."
"Right." He answered with a bit of disbelief in his words.
When the were talking Asuka noticed Shinji carrying a black suitcase similar to the one that Kaji probably has Adam somewhere in the ship.
"What's up with this?" Asuka said as she pointed to the suitcase.
"I have a my plug suit on it, I decided to brought it to have a good luck today, who knows? It might actually become handy."
You don't know how right you are for once.
After a while, they ended up in the place where they stored the Eva unit 02.
"So this is your Eva ?"
"Yes, unlike yours which is just a prototype this is built design to combat angels ." She showed the model.
" It is magnificent." He said
"That's the unit 02 for you. It is the pride of Germany and it is going to the death to all the angels."
Take that you all might 'Angel's bane' I have to cool titles to back me up as a pilot.
" I can't wait when the moment when will fight side by side with your Evas."
Asuka blushed little with that comment and tried to hided.
"Whatever. "
Baka just because you say compliments on me as a pilot that doesn't I have forgotten what you have done to me back then, even if you are not him. Right?
A sudden thump was heard and the ship was shaken a little.
It's here. Asuka thought.
Both she and Shinji rushed outside to see what causes the sound.
As they both got outside they noticed that one of ship was sinking.
" It is probably a angel a battleship wouldn't have fallen that easily from a regular attack. Quick we have to inform Misato and use your Eva to fight it". Said Shinji with determination.
"Right."
" You go and change to your suit while I will inform Misato about and change to my suit. Okay ?"
"Ye..yeah."
"See you in a minute then." He said that and leave
"Okay."
Asuka took a moment to realize what just happened and then headed to some backrooms to change.
This Shinji is definitely different from the one I know there is no way there the same, their characteristics just don't match. On the other hand, he looked like he knew a lot of stuff about angels and Eva maybe he working private with that bastard of a father to get his precious attention from him. Ha , I will show him who is the better fighter.
" I am done with my part have you finished?" Said Shinji from a far.
" Almost done." Answered Asuka back.
I don't know if I have the same feeling about Evas like last time as much as a part of wants to go there to kick some ass and show this idiot who is the best here and my other part feels empty and barren. Like, all my life I kept distance my self from other people and the same time wanted some to stay with me and listen to my real shelf. But my real shelf is just a broken dull who can't a real purpose in life. I am not different from wonder girl. But despite all of that I must continue on if ever want to find that purpose.
"Okay, I am ready." She said that as she was coming out dressed with her usual style with the plug suit and the nerve clips.
When the boy saw that he eyes widened like he was watching a miracle infront of him.
"Wow."
"What?"
"The suit and the style they suit you."
"Ahh" She blushed and tried to hided again. " Thanks, now let's go we have a angel to kill."
"Right, let's do it ."
And they both entered the Eva.
When she entered the Eva after what felt like eternity she was immediately hit with the same wave of warmth and excitement she was hit when she found out that her mother was with her all along. It was a genuine feeling but it was a fake feeling as well, because it was only the love of her mother that she wanted, the rest of was just self indulging and fake satisfaction. Things which they couldn't fill the emptiness she was feeling.
Okay Mama let's do this together and with the idiot.
The Eva started just like before but only this time she put the language in Japanese so the idiot could understand what she was saying.
"Okay kids you have permission to engage with the enemy." Said Misato over the vox.
"Hai." They answered.
The Eva get up from where it was held and prepared for battle. First, it jumped to the other ship to get supply from its plug. Then, the enemy revealed it self and attack head on to the Evangelion. The monster was as big or even bigger than the whole ship. It had manage to push the Evangelion back against the ship with its strength ( hopefully the crew of that ship were starting to abandon it.).
"Grrrrrr, that thing is much stronger than it looks."
" Let me help with this."
" No I can do it myself." Come on Baka let me have this moment of glory just for once.
" If keep it like that we are going to die because of your selfishness . Let me help you."
"No ." Said Asuka while struggling.
" Stubborn girl." Said Shinji and forced himself in the seat.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
"Saving us from stupidity." Shinji put his strength on the controls and with Asuka strength manage to push the leviathan back into the sea.
The place was safe for now.
"Why did you do that? That's my Eva, not yours you can't just simply do what the hell you want."
"If didn't intervene there we would have been killed from idea to show off "
You really pushing your luck third this time. I was kind at first but I am not letting you messing up my plans because you want attention from your little daddy.
"What? I never planning on doing..."
"Kids, if don't you mind we have an angel to kill, this not the time to fight with eachother."
"Fine, but that's the last time he is allow to be here."
"Yeah,yeah, I get it Asuka, now any ideas on how to kill the angel."
" The angel's skin was thick and strong meaning his insides are probably soft and vulnerable."
Asuka looked Shinji astounded , she didn't expect that this Shinji will be that smart.
Wow third I didn't expect you will catch up to battle tactics so easily, I am impressed.
"Good idea Shinji, any other suggestions?"
" We need something that can create a big exposition from the inside."
"Like what Asuka?"
" Like the battleships." Both said immediately.
"Ha,ha,ha,ha, you two have just met and already become a great team and fun watch, I can't wait when you two will work with eachother more in the future. Now let's blow this fish out of the water."
Both teens cringed at the last comment and simply replied.
"Hai."
The plan was to lure the beast and wait for the opportunity to open its mouth to blow it from the inside. It didn't take long for the beast to appear and finally make it's move. This time it jumped with faster than before, but they were ready this time. The leviathan drag them below but they had the plug to back them up. The beast tried to moved them as far as possible and started chew on the robot but it was stopped as both Asuka and Shinji combined their strengths to keep it's mouth open.
" Now or never Misato. " Said Asuka.
" Okay, the ships are coming now towards you guys get ready for the right moment."
"Ahhhhh" They both screamed in pain as they tried the best to keep that damm mouth open.
"Steady. NOW". Misato yelled over the vox and as she did, Shinji and Asuka escape from their job and let the ships to finish it.
As they were distance themselves from the angel the saw the entire field of battleships get shoved into the angel's mouth.
"Fire ." Said Asuka to Misato and the answer was a giant explosion that could be seen morphing in the angel's mouth.
Few, that was close. A little more and me and the idiot would have been bygones. But I will say , you did pretty well this time around Baka.
A.N: Regarding the ideas of the last chapter they originated from one story which Asuka time travel to the past and from another which we had a POV of Asuka after returning from the instrumentality.
