Chapter 9" Fight like you both want to win."

Part 2 Asuka

She knew from the morning that today won't be a good day.

When she went to school ,all the kids were looking at her with amazement and surprise just, like before. But she didn't care about them, this time she wasn't craving the same attention like before. Shinji welcomed her calmly, Wonder girl this time welcomed her with her cold voice but for the reason this she looked a bit surprised when the two met like she was feeling something was of, Hikary was gentle as always and didn't took a while to become friends and as for the stooges they were surprised like last time and then ended up accepting their fate.

But when she and Shinji engaged in battle with the the seventh angel this when things went south.

She was prepared for what's to come and this time she approached the angel carefully.

" Asuka don't go there you don't know what it's capable."

Oh you bet your ass I do. This time I know how to beat the angel. I have found a way without your help, I just need to strike there..

But before she could finish her though the angel split apart and separate it's self in to two figures. One grabbed her by the right foot of her Eva and slammed her to the ground. The other got ready to punch her for good but at the last moment Shinji intervene pushing her back his right arm and block the punch with the left arm of his Eva . But despite that he reserved another punch from the other angel and knockout him back a little.

" I didn't need your help idiot." Said Asuka.

" Yet you live because of it. Answered Shinji.

" Whatever."

They were now both in the same ground they were now standing against the two angels and prepare for the next moves.

"Kids you need to back up quickly you battery is running out." Misato informed them.

But there were to focused on the battle to pay attention. In the same minute they both strike to the enemy but they ended up hitting the same enemy making them vulnerable to the other, before they could react their batteries run out and before they knew they got stuffed together and ended up worse than before. They were now at Nerv office.

" If you didn't rush there we would have taken advantage of the distance and beat the angel."

"If we had sat there our batteries would have run low faster, we needed have acted before it could have even reacted."

"Okay, you to both need to work together if you don't want both of get replaced by machines." Said Kōzō.

"With all due respect sir that pattern isn't ready yet, it needs to time be programmed." Said Ritsuko to the man.

"I don't care, it sounds more promising than those two. Now, leave."

Asuka and Shinji exited the room and started heading to the change rooms.

"Baka, you are the reason why we got our asses kicked, if you had struck for the other we would have won."

"If I wasn't there you would have been in a worse condition than just losing your pride."

"I don't do this for pride idiot."

"Then what? Don't you tell me that you do it for world peace, because you will be the bigger idiot here."

"No, I just.."

I don't know what brings me happiness anymore and the Eva is the only thing that might show me.

"What?"

"Nothing. For what reason you pilot the Eva? Oh, let me guess you try to make your big papa proud."

She didn't noticed how fast the boy react to her last words and had grabbed her hand with ferocity.

"No, I have nothing to do with that man." He told her with anger.

Those fearsome eyes make Asuka backed a little as she remembered someone similar with that snapped reaction.

"Okay, I am sorry if I misjudge you ."

"No, I am sorry I overreacted there, I hope I didn't hurt you."

"Not at all, I am fine I have been worse than before."

"Alright."

"Yeah."

They both stared at each other for a moment. The ever growing silence made things more awkward.

"So what we were going to do?" Asuka decided to break up the silence.

"Emm, going to change? "

"Ah, yes I totally forgot see you then."

"Okay."

And they both awkwardly went to their change rooms.

Damm I didn't know could roleplay as Shinji from time to time. Asuka thought.

When we return home Misato put us to the same torture that is synchronisation with each other. Even though it was a bit fun the first time it is a pain in the ass to do it again. But surprisingly, me and the idiot did a lot better than last time. So good in fact that we were more surprised than the others when we scored 99 % .

"Wow, that's a great performance kids if continue like that we will beat the angel in no time. Why don't you take a break right now." Said Misato.

"Okay I will to store to buy some ingredients I need for dinner." Said Shinji

"Okay, good luck Shinji-kun."

Asuka didn't say a thing and simply sat with others.

"Hey Asuka,why you didn't go with Shinji to the store?" Said Hikary.

"Why, would I ?"

"But what if he needs help with carrying the ingredients?"

"Oh come on I am pretty sure he can do it by himself."

"Nah, don't bother class per I am pretty sure that the almighty Asuka Soryu is to glorious to focus on small things such as helping us mere mortals." Commented Toji.

"Your friends have a point Asuka and besides the training requires both people to be in total synchronism most of the time." Added Misato.

Asuka angered with those comments she slammed her hands in the desk frustrated.

"Okay I will go only because I want to get away from your stupid comments and that's all." And left the house with frustration.

Stupid people. Why can't they just leave alone for a while to think ? They still believe that I am the same antisocial girl like last time but I have changed, haven't I ? Asuka thought.

As she entered the store she saw Shinji picking the different ingredients for his food. Shinji spot her when she came close to him.

"Oh, so you decided to toggle along. " He said.

"Don't make the wrong idea I just decided to get some fresh air and thought to buy something."

" Works fine for me but now that you are here might I need your help with carrying some of the bags . There are more ingredients I need than I thought."

" Oh, don't tell me that the ' Angel's bane ' can't carry some bags."

"Sometimes even the strongest ones need some help."

" Okay fine I will help you but only if you buy my stuff as well."

"Ok deal."

After an hour of shopping they finally head out to the apartment but not before making a stop to relax.

" Few, you were right they are hard to carry. What are you gonna cook anyway ?"

"Well I was originally going to keep it a secret but now that you are here and help me I will tell. I am going to cook a German food."

"Hmm, how come? "

"Well I decided to make something familiar to your liking since you are now very far from your home."

" Good because I didn't want to eat Japanese food again."

"What ? You didn't like my food I made yesterday?"

"No, is just Japanese food is really my preference even though you made it pretty good yesterday, I have to say."

"Thanks. I really appreciate that."

Asuka blushed a bit and tried to hide it and simply replying.

"Whatever."

"I am searching."

"What?"

"This morning you ask me why I am piloting and now I am telling you why."

"So then what is that you are searching?"

"I really don't know what it is and where is going to send me but I know that I have to keep moving in order to find that something."

"To be honest, that's same reason why I am piloting. "

"So it looks that we are on the same boat."

"As it seems."

They waited for a moment to see the sun set and started heading to the apartment.

When they finally arrived in the apartment they put the bags on top table and started to unload them.

" So you two finally came. Your friends departed an hour ago. I hope you didn't have any problem with the bags Shinji."

Said Misato.

"Oh don't worry Misato I had Asuka to help with the bags."

"I just helped you carrying some stupid bags I didn't save your life."

"And despite that I am still thankful. As you saw the bags were more heavy than I originally thought."

"Whatever."

"Okay you two,why don't you go for sleep now? You must prepared well this week."

"I am gonna finish with bags before I go to bed." Said Shinji

"Oh, come on leave it to me. You are putting to much pressure on yourself Shinji."

"It's alright, Misato I can do this myself." Said Shinji nervously.

"Hmm, now that you are mentioned them they are a lot of bags right there. Shinji with what money do you pay in the store?"

"Oh, well since couldn't find my card when I left I decided to get yours and originally didn't had in mind to buy a lot of stuff but as was seeing my list of ingredients and then Asuka asked me to buy some other stuff, things got a bit more expensive."

Misato put an angry glare on Shinji and went to the the bags to find the payment.

"Wait Misato."

But before Shinji could stop her she had already found it.

"Oh, no"

When she saw the payment she froze completely.

"Asuka I think it's time to retreat." Suggested Shinji.

"What?"

"I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU WITH MY TO HANDS YOU LITTLE BRATS."

But before Misato could catch them they had already gone to their rooms.

This week started great. Asuka thought

Despite me and the idiot doing it pretty well for a first time Misato still wanted us to continue the schedule so that we don't break the tempo.The next days were similar like before, nothing really out of the ordinary, if you count traveling in another universe as ordinary. But after a training that felt bigger than it was, we got to the final day before the battle.

The apartment was silent. Misato went to Nerv to prepare for the upcoming battle and Pen Pen had gone to sleep early. So there was only she and him left.

Asuka took her bed and put it back in her room .

"So you will sleep in your room this night?"

Asked Shinji.

"In the past few days I didn't sleep well here, plus I missed some privacy."

"Okay then, if that's makes you happy, but I am always here in case you need something."

"I don't think I will need it but whatever."

And then the two of them went to sleep. After some hours an asleep redhead opened her room's door.

I hate doing this again but the nightmares came back stronger than before, so I might borrow him again this night. Asuka thought.

As she headed to the boy's bed she saw that he was awake as well.

"You to having nightmares?" She asked.

"You don't know." He answered.

Oh trust me I do.

"Would mind sleeping with you for another night?"

The boy didn't answered but instead he made room for the redhead.

"Thanks and don't do anything funny or will kill you."

"You have my word." He said.

They sat there for 2 minutes, with their backs on each other and neither of them saying a word. Until she decided to break the ice.

" Do you enjoy it?"

"What?"

"Cooking."

"That's something weird to start a conversation."

" I am always seeing you preparing food for me and Misato and despite the fact that it is a chour, you always look happy. I don't remember a time which you complaining about the amount of chores you have."

"When I was living in my teacher's house, he learn me how to cook and most of the chores I do now. At first I didn't find cooking any special but the more time I spend the more I started to enjoy it and in a way it helps me relax."

"The last part has to be one of the stupidest thing I have ever heard from you but I will buy it as a fact for you."

"Hey, Asuka."

"What?"

"Why do you really ask me such a thing?"

"Well because in my entirety of life up until now I never got the chance to try something new outside the Eva and the university studies. The only thing that brought me joy was Eva and that's because it was the only thing I was usually taught. I didn't have time to play with stupid kids games and everyone at university looked me like I was some sort of alien. So was curious of what you feel about something that doesn't have to do with the Eva or with any military/spying bullshit. Tell me how does it feel a life without Eva?"

"That's answer which I never said to myself. On the one hand, the life I got before this was meaningless and without any memories. On the other hand, this life is full of pain and misery but despite that I have some good memories from it. So I will say that the best life will be the one that makes you feel alive despite the pain."

"And if the pain is so strong that makes you wanna die ?"

Shinji paused for a second and said.

"Then this means that you have seen all that this life has throw on you and you must choose what do next."

" That sounds like a false hope."

"It might, but it is something to hold on"

"Hmm"

"Asuka I think it's time to finally go to sleep we have big day tomorrow."

" I agree."

"Goodnight then."

"Goodnight." Baka she said in her head.

After some hours of sleeping Asuka woke up from the noise of a certain individual.

"I must stop it.." He mumbled in his sleep

"Hmm?"

"The third impact." He continued

The girl shocked for a second.

How in the hell does he know that ? If he doesn't work for his father than for who then?

"The end is coming..."

Asuka didn't take long to realize what was happening. He is here as well.

That's explain everything, all the techniques, the knowledge, the different personality even the whole of pain thing.

Asuka was angered by the thought that she believed for a second his words about life. She had never thought of what do if he had ever find him again. Should she slapped him, laugh at him, cry at him, rage? But, now that is infront of her, the only thing that came to her mind was all those nights after the angel who had raped her mind, crying endlessly in her room, begging for someone help and him trying his best to ignore her. Or when she was sodomized by the Mass produced Eva and he didn't even move a finger when she needed him.

Anger took completely Asuka's mind and pody and started reacting on its own. She slowly put her hands on the boy's neck but before she could squeeze him, something made her hesitated.

"Asuka... I don't go there alone... you can't fight them all by yourself... please let me aid you... I am sorry wasn't there..."

She didn't know how to evaluate this, can she just simply forgive him and act like nothing happen or she will take a dishonour revenge. She didn't know what to do. If she killed him right here on the spot she won't be any different from those monsters.

No, I have changed I am not the same as before, right? I can better than before but just I don't know how. Where are you mama when I need you?

Being so divided with her though she decided to sleep a bit farther from Shinji's bed.

"You really got lucky this time Baka." She whispered.

To the surprise of none the battle was flawless, we finished before we even realized that we started. Most of the people were amazed by our performance but I am pretty sure even the idiot didn't think much of this compare to the stuff that will come afterwards. When we finished the battle I went to the changing rooms first so I can as quick as possible. Being in the same building as him made my skin crawl. So started heading home.

As Asuka was walking back home a not so exciting figure appeared.

"What do you want?" Asuka asked.

"I wanted to talk to you earlier but you were busy with him." Said Rei.

"Okay then, tell what you want."

"When you first came here I didn't think much of you but now that I see the real you my worse fears came to mind."

" Real me? What's that even mean? Stop talking with riddles wonder girl."

"I know about your true origins second child. You and him."

Asuka stopped for a second. She tried to think what to do now.

"And so what? What you are going to do ? Send us to prison."

"I am really curious to see what you two are going to do when find out real identity. Will you kill each other or become a couple. Either way, the outcome might be the same."

" You really pissing me off wonder girl , just get straight to the point."

"When he first came here I though it was only a coincidence but now that you are also here means that someone is planning something big."

"Then tell me who is it then."

" I still don't know but if it is who I think it is then your arrival means only bad things for this world."

"And how can I fight something that I don't what it is?"

"You can't. You can only counting the days which are left for your kind."

"Great now I have to worry about something even bigger than the end of the world."

"Try to be careful from now on the upcoming battles will be crucial to the fate of this world." As she said that she left and headed to her house.

Asuka watched her for a moment to see if she had say something else and then she also headed home.

Bad luck follows me even in this world. Asuka thought.
