Luna

"Hi, I'm Luna and I'll be your waiter today. What can I get you?" I asked the guy sitting at the counter.

"Hey, Alright, I think I'm going to go with the Portobello burger, a side of fries, and I'll have a Lemonade." He said as he placed his menu down. I scribble down his order on my note pad and took the menu from him.

"Alright that will be right up." I say, then walk to the kitchen, pinning the order sheet to the line—where they go so the cook could see them.

I've worked at this diner for about a year now and didn't mind it. Melanie's Deep Dish— We serve anything from breakfast omelets to lunch or dinner burgers. Sure, it's not a bad job, but it's exhausting. Working from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. was extremely tiring, even if it was just a 6 hour shift. The fact that it was in a place that I was constantly on my feet and always running from table to table, it made it exhausting. Come weekends, I would work every other Saturday and be off on Sunday. Saturday's, I worked from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and let me tell you, breakfast time is no joke!

Portobello burger with fries and a lemonade to the guy at the stool, chicken tenders with Apple slices and fruit punch to the kid at table 3, bacon omelet with coffee to the woman at table 6, pancakes with a chocolate milk to the little girl at table 5, tab for the family at table 1, water refill to the other man at the stool! It's a non stop chaos!

When the clock hits 10, I finish wiping down my last table. I grab my stuff and head out. I waited at the bus stop like always for about 10 minuets until it came. Same old routine, everyday. School, work, bus, home, dinner, homework, bed, and do it again. At least today is the last day before winter break. When is my life going to begin?!

Lucy

I sat on the steps of school, waiting for Lori to arrive, talking to my friends, Ondina and Victoria. I have been friends with them for some time now. Well them plus Ashley. Haiku moved to Alaska with her mom or something like that back in 2012 so I had to learn to somewhat socialize and make new friends. Anyway, today is the last day of School before winter break. I would say I'm happy to be out of school for 2 weeks, but the problem is, I got to be home with my family for 2 weeks. I hate that I don't have the same relationship with my family as before, but what can I do? We have changed. A lot.

The dirty snow along the road sides seemed to get thicker each day. It seemed like the snow would never melt! My big black coat shut out the cold to its best ability, but somehow, the cold still managed to reach me, making me shiver. Man, where is she?!

"I got to go Luce. Don't worry I'm sure Lori will be here soon!" Ondina said, walking to her car.

"Yeah… I'll talk to you. See if I can go over. Bye!" I told her. Soon enough, Victoria also left and I was still there. In anger, I grabbed my phone and called Lori.

Lori: hello?

Lucy: Where. The hell. Are you?! It's freezing and I'm still here waiting for your ass!

Lori: Ok, first of all, stop cursing and second, I'm 2 minuets away.

Lucy: Your not my mother Lori. You can't tell me what to do and what not to do!

Lori: I am your older sister and you should listen to me!

Lucy: Should. Exactly. I just choose not to.

Lori: Lucy, I'm not doing this with you! I have a lot to deal with already so if you can please wait a little while longer, I'll be there!

Lucy: Yeah, I understand. You have to Save the arguing for Lynn right? God Lori, I don't know why you hate her so much! Nothing she is doing is affecting you! Can't you just—

CALL ENDED.

Really?! She really hung up on me!? What an ass!

2 minuets later, she arrived and I climbed in the van.

"Thanks for hanging up on me." I tell her, buckling my seatbelt.

"Sorry I was late. There was traffic and Luna couldn't be late to work, so I drove her there first." She said, completely ignoring my comment. I just rolled my eyes and looked out the window. It's funny how she was able to get Lana, Lola, and Lily but had to leave me. God, I hate being the only one with an after school club.

Lola

2 weeks. 2 weeks at home. 2 weeks with my family. 2 weeks with Lori. It's fine. I can do this. Right? Yea! No? Maybe? Ugh! I don't know. I can try to avoid her, but mom and dad always try to make Christmas and New Year's a family thing. Family. This is going to be the first year that one of us isn't here. Leni. What is that going to be like?

Once we are home, Lucy goes straight to her room, Lana goes to the kitchen—probably to eat, like always and Lily ran to the couch to watch T.v. I just sigh. I walk up the stairs, threw my bag on the floor of my room and plopped on my bed, face first. Ugh. What is life?

Lana

Food. That's all that's on my mind. Lola says that all I ever do is eat, but I don't care. Everyone is so stressed and distanced from one another, but I'm just here, still on good terms with everyone. I don't get involved. Point blank.

I join Lily on the couch and turn the t.v. on for her.

"Put bubble guppies!" she told me. Taking my jacket, shoes, and bag off, I groan.

"No more bubble guppies Lily. Please! Let's watch a movie!" I tell her, happily at the end.

"No movie! Bubble. Guppies."

"Lady and the Tramp?" I ask her suggestively.

"No!" she squealed. I put it anyway through her hissy fits. No one came to her rescue though. Everybody cries at some point! No point in checking why each one of them are doing so.

Eventually she stopped though and started to watch the movie. The house soon became chilly and so I grabbed a fleas blanket to cover us both. Life is good.

I come home to see everything in order, like usual. Everyone is in PJs, no one is fighting, the house is somewhat clean. I'm so glad I have such great kids. I can't wait for their reaction when I tell them that I'm staying home for their break! Maybe we can do family things again! Like every year! It'll be fun!

A/N: sooooo... I kinda hate this chapter... They get better. I think. The thing is, I wrote these months ago, but now that I'm trapped in my house due to Covid-19, I'll be writing new chapters (since I haven't written in what feels like forever...) and they'll be in a more... modern and better format. Speaking of format, this is being uploaded from my phone so the way of spacing may look weird, sorry about that. I normally upload from my laptop, so it's a new thing for me.

Btw, that I you so much to those still reading this. Thanks for the patience since I don't upload too often. I really appreciate it. You have no idea.

Also, there's foreshadowing somewhere in this chapter. Any ideas where???
