Lynn Sr.
"Really? That's amazing! So, who is the father?" I asked eagerly. My heart pounded loudly and my hands trembled in excitement. I was practically jumping out of my skin. I wanted to know who this son of a bitch was so I could destroy him once and for all. No one messes with any of my kids! Linda squinted her eyes as she got a bit closer to the screen.
"It says here that he was last admitted March 4th of 2013 with a… with an elbow fracture. You were lucky we still had the files, that was two years ago!" She laughed. 'come on women just give me the name already' I thought to myself.
"It says that his legal name is..." she squinted at the screen again. "L-Lincoln Loud? Yeah, Lincoln William Loud. Would you like his address?" She asked sweetly with a smile. At that moment, I felt everything freeze. My train of thought, my heart, my breathing. This couldn't be real.
"I'm sorry ma'am, but that can't be right. Can you check it again?" I hyperventilated.
"hmmm… no sir, the test is never wrong, and the chance of a mistake is very rare. If you would really like it though, we can have the sample tested again."
"Uh… yes. Please have another test done…"
"Alrighty then, now as for the first name that appeared with this sample, Lincoln William Loud, would you like the documented address? I'm not supposed to, but I can get it for you if you'd like." She kindly spoke. The name stabbed me like a dagger to the heart.
"n-no… there is no need for that…"
"Ha, well isn't that funny?! Loud. The same last name that you have! What a coincidence! I didn't think it was a common last name, but I guess it's not that rare!" She commented. I just stared at her with my eyes of concern and slowly turned around.
"Yes. Very odd. What a coincidence." I bluntly spoke while I walked away.
Lincoln. Lincoln. Lincoln. Lincoln. Lincoln. Lincoln. The name bounced around my head, being the only thing to occupy it.
Lynn and Lincoln. Lynn and Lincoln. Lynn and Lincoln. Lynn and Lincoln. Lynn and Lincoln. No. that can't be right. It can't. It's not. Is it?
"Hon?" Rita spoke, touching my shoulder from behind me, startling me out of my hypnosis.
"U-Uh yes, dear?" I asked, still in the same worry from before.
"Are you alright?"
"I… I did something very shady and found out some news that I can't comprehend…"
"…What did you find out?"
Lynn
I finally got the hang of this whole breast-feeding thing and I'm feeling pretty confident, not going to lie! Yeah, it kinda hurt at first, but now that she got the whole latching thing, we were golden! Right now, she rested on my chest, sleeping, and Lincoln, and I was just talking. Then, the happy, content, calm atmosphere faded, as mom and dad walked into the room, slamming the door behind them. They both looked pretty angry, but dad definitely looked like he had murder in his eyes… Lincoln stood upon their entry in surprise.
"Oh, Hey dad. I just came to check up on Lynn and keep her company seeing that she was done with her—"
"YOU! OUT OF THIS ROOM NOW! WE NEED TO TALK!" He shouted, pointing at Lincoln, then the door. My eyes widened in complete and utter disbelief. Dad has never yelled at us like this before… oh no… Lincoln, in fear, obeyed and made his way to the door of the room, looking back at me one final time before stepping out, dad following. All of the commotion woke Lacy up and she cried loudly, wiggling from her position on me. I quickly drew all of my attention to her, fixing the way she was placed and slightly rocking her as I shushed her tears. Mom had stayed in the room with me, just watching as everything had taken place. She finally moved though and sat at the end on my bed, her face looking so dead and… saddened. She looked disappointed; not the same as dad's anger.
"Honey…" she spoke, looking down at her lap.
"…yes… mom…" I spoke softly. My heart felt as if it was gonna beat out of my chest as my anxiety built. I had a feeling I knew what was up and I was terrified to see the outcome…
"When was the party?"
"What Party—"
"The one where you got pregnant! That party! When was it?! Who did it?! I want his name this time!" she burst, her anger becoming more evident.
"I—I—it was… I don't know! Sometime in April mom! I already told you guys! I don't know the dude—" I stuttered nervously.
"STOP LYING TO US!" She screamed, getting close to my face. I felt a load of tears fill my eyes. This can't be happening! It can't!
"I-I'M NOT LYING! I PROMISE!" I yelled as the tears began to fall down my cheeks. Lacy was now again, upset over all of the noise and started to cry out again, but this time, I couldn't budge under mom's glare.
"THEN WHY THE HELL IS THE DNA TEST SAYING THAT YOU BROTHER IS THE FATHER OF YOUR BABY?!" she screamed. I paused for a moment at this.
"Wait… w-what DNA test..?" I trembled. What…. What was going on here? She then froze, her face breaking from its straightness into heartbreak. She then broke down, getting out of my face and sitting back on her edge of the bed. She held her face in her hands as she bawled her eyes out. I didn't know what to do. She was just there sobbing. Lacy was still crying, so I comforted her quickly, getting her to calm down. I placed her in the nearby bassinet and crawled to the end of the bed where mom sat. I started to reach out for her shoulder, hesitating mid-way before finally deciding to touch it in a comforting manner. She raised her head from her hands, looking at me for a moment before pulling me in for a bear hug. Not going to lie, it hurt! God, it hurt so bad, my insides still being all jibble jobble! I hugged her back though. We stayed like this for only about a few seconds before she pulled away.
"Sorry, I know you're still hurting—"
"Uh… d-don't worry about it…" I mentioned. What she had previously said had not left my mind though. "What do you mean DNA test?" I cautiously asked. She looked at me for a brief moment before taking a deep breath. She straightened herself up once more than turned to face me.
"Your father had a DNA test taken from Lacy in hopes to find her father. He had the intention of seeing if the hospital had his blood sample data still saved and to match it with hers. When the nurse came back to him, she told him that the match went by the name of Lincoln William Loud. Sound familiar?" She asked, the intimidation making its return. I coward under her eye, my eyes widening at the sound of his name. "Yeah, bet it does. Your father thought that it had to be a mistake—"
"IT IS! That can't be right!" I tried to salvage. She just eyed me in irritation.
"He thought that it had to be a mistake and so, he asked for a second test, and the results were the same. We asked how accurate the test was and they said that it was pretty accurate—almost 100%, so there is little to no chance that it was wrong. Do you have anything to say?!" She glared. I had felt so little. Like I was sinking into a hole and she was watching.
"…"
"WELL?!" she yelled. I quickly shushed her, pointing to Lacy. She took a deep breath and asked again. "Well?"
"How… how did he get a DNA test done without my permission? Why didn't any of the nurses tell me she was getting tested? How did they agree to go through the private files of patients at this hospital?!" I started to build myself up, getting awfully suspicious once I thought of all this. "Lacy is MY daughter and any and all of her legal procedures should be ran by ME! NOT you guys!" I began to get angry. Now she was the one cowering under me.
"I… I didn't think about that…"
"So, dad did it and just filled you in?!"
"Yes, but that's none of your business!" She said, trying to regain power over me.
"Actually, it is my business! You didn't think to ask him any of these things?!" I questioned aggressively. She just sighed then shook her head. "Unbelievable…" I said as I shook my head.
"Wait, wait, wait! Yes, that part still needs to get investigated, but this is NOT what the most important part is right now! You s…SLEPT with your own brother! What the hell is wrong with you?! Not only that, but you had his child! What were you thinking?!" she asked in frustration. I then felt myself cower again. "You weren't! I can see that! Now it all makes sense! The whole him being here with you, you guys always being so close to one another! How long has this been going on?!" I stayed quiet.
"How long has this gone on! I'm demanding an answer now Lynn!" she barked. I just sighed, reevaluating all of my life decisions.
"…About 3 years now…" I mumbled, salty tears staining my cheeks once more. My heart ached from all of the tension and anger. I was weak and couldn't do this anymore. I just wish they would have never found out… I wish my dick of a father wouldn't have ever done this!
"I'm sorry! THREE YEARS?! Three whole years and… and we didn't know…" She softened.
"I'm sorry mom. I truly am, but not for the reason you think. I'm sorry that you had to have a daughter and a son that fell in love, and now you have to deal with all of the drama and try to come up with a solution. I'm sorry that you guys weren't present in our lives and missed the fact that we were closer than you thought. I'm sorry that ALL of your kids knew about us and never told you—the people you thought you could trust. I'm sorry I had to lie to you about who the father really was, but I am NOT sorry for falling in love with Lincoln!" I stood my ground.
"I'm sorry, you confuse words! IN LOVE?! What the hell do you know about love?! You are a child! Just because you had a kid doesn't change that! You are just a kid that had a kid!"
"Well guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Need I remind you that you had Lori when you were 18!"
"By law, I was an adult! This does not compare to you!"
"No, an adult is when you live on your own and as far as I'm concerned, you lived with Pop-Pop and Nan until you were pregnant of LUNA!"
"How do you even know that?! It doesn't matter, that was different!"
"Well guess what, when you live in a home where you pretty much raise and support yourself, I think it's fair to say that you are grown!"
"Support yourself?! I will let you know that you do NOT support yourself! I work 2 jobs to support your ass- so that you have a roof over your head and food!"
"Actually, Lincoln and I buy our own food and other materials! You just provide the roof, which pretty soon, you won't!"
"Lincoln and I? Why of course! The two LOVEBIRDS, right?! That's on you two if you decide to buy your own things!"
"Well if we didn't, we would have never survived! And don't you ever come at me about knowing what love is! You wouldn't know what love is since you and dad never even see each other! You don't think we noticed the fighting all of those years ago?! The whole reason why you guys got additional jobs?! You were going broke because none of you guys knew how to save! You guys couldn't have worked together as a team and solve the issue! Instead, you decided that seeing each other and your kids LESS would solve the problem! Lincoln and I would never do anything like that!" I angrily stated. She paused here and got quiet.
"Y—you guys know about the fighting…?"
"Of course! That was the lullaby that put us all to sleep those years! We worried when you guys didn't fight because we feared you two would get separated and divide us up!"
"…I'm sorry… We're trying our best sweety… It's hard! It really is… I grew up not having much and I wanted to make sure you guys lived a happy childhood. One filled with toys and presents!"
"Well the present we all would have wanted was to have a day where our parents were home," I claimed. Tears slid down her face slowly as silence filled the room.
"So, everyone but us knew?" She quietly asked. I simply nodded. She sighed.
"Do you guys really love each other? You aren't just looking for a bed buddy?"
"No mom, we really do love each other. And I wouldn't give him up for anything. He's my other half. You have to understand that!" I begged. She looked at my glassy eyes with her own and opened her arms up to a hug. We shared a firm hug and cried in each other's arms.
"I just want you guys to be happy! I don't know what to do! I'm not supposed to support this! But now that I look back, he makes you happy and you make him happy. On top of that, although it was irresponsible, you two had that beautiful little girl and if I'm going to teach my son anything, its to be an accountable father. I can't separate you two, but my mind is conflicting against it."
"Please don't mom! I need him! Lacy needs him! I can't raise her on my own! No one else has to know! This can be a family secret!"
"…Yeah… I know…. I have to talk to your father about it and we have to sit and have a long chat about what is the right thing to do here." She notes. She looks exhausted, so was I. Just then, the door opens and dad and Lincoln stumble In, Lincoln holding his right arm close to his chest, covering a large cut where blood was noticeably oozing from.
"Lincoln! What happened?! Are you okay?!" I ask immediately upon seeing him in concern. He kept his eyes to the floor as he trudged my way.
"Lincoln, Sweety! What happened to your arm dear?! Are you okay?! Should we call in a nurse?!" Mom asked him, rushing up to him and taking his arm to examine it. He winced as she took it, quickly withdrawing from her touch and turning away from her.
"He's fine! He wants to be a man now?! He can take it!" Lynn sr. snapped. Mom and I winced at this.
"Lynn… What did you do to him?!" She fumed.
A/N: AH! I love how this chapter came out so much! Hope you guys enjoyed It! The next chapter is in Lincolns POV and talks about what happened with his dad. It should be going up sometime today, so be on the lookout! ALSO! I realized I forgot to put this in the last author's note, but, YOU CAN NOT TEST DNA FROM BLOOD BUT FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE STORY, THIS HAD TO MAKE SENSE! Only white blood cells contain DNA, not red. Also, I am well aware that it takes a long while for DNA Test results to come back, but once more, for the purpose of the story, it had to be a 'within the hour' type deal! Also, this type of testing—looking at past patience, I am 99.9% sure this isn't something that can actually be done, but in this universe, let's just pretend it is. Okay, now that that is said, I'll see you guys! Peace!
