Chapter 70
I don't know how long I was carried before we arrived at what I recognized as the Berk dungeons. They carried me in as I began to get feeling back in my limbs and dropped me onto the ground as one of them turned to a guard and said.
"We've got a new one for you mate."
"Where'd this one come from?"
"Just found him walking up to the great hall and took him by surprise before we were given orders to have him thrown into a cell with the chief." The guard nodded as they left before the guard picked me up and tossed me into a cell and saying.
"Get to know your new roommate." It was then all the feeling returned to my limbs and I stood up to see Gobber looking down at me with a few other members of the tribe before he asked.
"Hiccup?" I rubbed my head.
"Yeah it's me Gobber but would you mind explaining to me what's going on?" He sighed and patted the seat next to him.
"Take a seat lad and I'll tell you everything." I sat down next to him as the other tribe members gathered around us.
1 hour later
I was sitting on the bench with my fingers intertwined in front of my face as I went over everything that Gobber had told me about what's going on. Apparently while I was away the tribe got a visit from a trader whose ship was damaged in a storm but he was eager to sell his wares in exchange for a safe place to dock while he repaired his ship and he did have some good stuff so the tribe allowed it. After a week everyone had begun trusting him but last night he showed his true colors by knocking out those on guard allowing the warriors of a tribe known as the Thunderheads lead by a man known as Snorre the Vast access to the village. They were apparently a tribe of Viking whalers who were also old enemys of Berk who were looking for revenge due to what happened in the 'Valhalla Wars'. Since they had the element of surprise and the darkness of the night they were able to capture everyone one including my dad who was now in the solitary cell on the lower floors of the dungeon. Now they were busy preparing to loot Berk and load up the Berkian prisoners onto their ships and do who knows what with them since I already saw them empty four cells. Fortunately, I already had an escape plan and was just about ready to put it into action. Gobber saw my smile and asked.
"What are you smiling about lad?" I stood up as I looked at him.
"I'm about to get us out of here." He opened his mouth but I held up my hand. "Just sit back and enjoy the show." He stepped back as I walked up to the bars taking my glove off but keeping my hand out of sight as I saw two guard's playing cards before I said. "You know you Thunderheads were pretty smart to trick Berk like you did." They turned to face me smiling as one said.
"Flattery will get you nowhere with us lad but thanks anyway."
"Yeah too bad you lot fail to see the flaw with your plan." This got their attention as they stood up to look at me.
"And what flaw would that be?"
"Well on one hand you have everyone in cells or on their way to ships but on the other hand you've failed to take me helping everyone escape into account." One of the guards walked up to me as he glared.
"And how do you intend to make this great escape." I smiled at him.
"I did say on the other hand, didn't I?"
I quickly grabbed his arm with my prosthetic and used the light blue crystal to electrify my arm and in turn shocking the guard while burning off my shirts sleeve. He screamed as small bolts ran around his body and his hair stood up making me chuckle at how ridiculous he looked before he began smoking and I let him go making him collapse on the ground unconscious. I looked back at the remaining guard who was standing there wide-eyed before I pointed my fist towards him and launching it at him. He didn't have time to react as it slammed into his chest and knocked him into the back wall. He groaned in pain before I opened the hand and grabbed onto the front of the guys shirt. Once I had a good grip the guy began getting up and rubbing his head but I reeled the hand back into the arm as quick as I could and pulled the guy with it slamming him right into the bars knocking him out cold. I reeled the hand back into the socket and moved it around a bit just to see it was back in right. I felt a hand on my real shoulder and turned back to see Gobber staring at my prosthetic with his eyes widened while everyone else stared at me mouths gaping as Gobber opened his mouth to speak but I raised my hand to silence him and said.
"I'll explain everything later but for now we need to get out of the cell and free everyone else."
"But how can we do that since the keys are kept by someone who only comes into help move people out." I held up my prosthetic hand.
"I've got a key to the cell right here." I then put my hand on the lock and released the acid melting it before I was able to push the cell door open and did the same with the other cells that had prisoners. "Keep an eye on the other cells while I go and free my dad."
Gobber nodded as I made my way to the lower floors that were a lot more secure than the ones on the top floor like for starters their doors weren't bars but solid metal with a small bared window at the top to check on prisoners and a small flap at the bottom to deliver food to them. The cell at the back had three men standing guard and it didn't take a genius to figure out that was the one my dad was locked in. When they saw me the one in the middle yelled.
"STOP WHERE YOU ARE!"
I just kept walking and summoned my scimitar throwing knives out of my arm as the two men on either side began to charge towards me. I just grabbed four of my knives and threw them at the men catching each by the shoulders and pinning them to the wall. The last man charged towards me with his sword raised but when he brought it down on me I just stepped to the side and used my real arm to elbow him in the back of the neck. He went down like a rock while I just walked over him as I kept walking towards the door. When I reached the door, I looked through the window and saw my dad sitting in the back on a bench looking down at his hands, which with my eagle eye I could see were cuffed together with metal shackles. I put my prosthetic on the lock and easily melted it away with the acid before I heard a familiar shatter before a hole in the palm opened and let green crystals fall out showing that the crystal I had been using was officially drained and destroyed. I pushed the door open as my dad looked up at it and when he saw me he stood up asking.
"Hiccup?"
"Yeah it's me dad but we'll have to catch up after we've dealt with the Thunderheads." He nodded as I took the chain that bound the shackles and used the red crystal to heat up my hand in order to melt the chains. "This won't take long dad." He stared at the hand and the prosthetic that was glowing red through some small openings until the chains were completely melted but before he could ask me anything I looked at his face. "I'll explain everything later but right now we need to stop the Thunderheads before they capture anymore of our people and ship them out to Thor knows where." He nodded but gave me a look that I knew meant we'd be talking about this later before Gobber ran in.
"You two better get up to the top floor fast because we got five Thunderheads making their way towards the dungeon." I smiled.
"Good!" Before they could ask me how that was good I release my crystal spear and held it at my side. "I've been wanting to give my new spear a try against some real opponents." A Gobber slack jawed Gobber stepped aside as I walked past but turned around to face the two men who were still struggling on the walls trying to get free from my knives. "While I'm away you guys get these men into cells and leave the ones outside to me."
They nodded as I made my way out of the dungeon giving the same orders to the people upstairs. I saw five men with spears making their way down the path towards the dungeon as I readied my spear smiling. When they saw me they stopped for only a moment before letting out battle cries and charging towards me. As they ran towards me the only thought that went through my head was 'This is going to be fun' before I readied my spear. It was then one reached me and tried to stab me with his spear but I stepped to the side before I swung my spear at his head. The pole extended so he was hit in the face by the pole and sent to the ground unconscious before I pulled my spear back to me. Two more charged at me before I stabbed the crystal blade into the ground and swiped it towards the one on the right. Large crystals sprouted out of the ground towards the man before a final one with a flat top burst out hitting him right under the belt making him drop his weapon before his body quickly as he grasped the part that was hit. The other one ignored his fallen comrade and charged at me with his spear ready while I raised my spears blade end and brought it down towards him. He raised his spear to try and block the strike but the blade just cut the staff in two and looked down at the two pieces giving me the opportunity to use my prosthetic to deliver one solid punch in the face as he looked up at me. I looked at the remaining two men who were looking from their downed comrades to me.
One stepped back while the other charged towards me but I did the same and when I was close enough I dropped to my knees and swung the staff of my spear at his legs sending him toppling down and sliding into the wall of one of the huts. I looked at the remaining Thunderhead who was looking at his downed comrades before looking at me and gave a fake smile as he dropped his spear then turned around and began running as he screamed in terror. I rolled my eyes before I brought my fingers to my lips and whistled before pointing at the guy. It wasn't five seconds later that Toothless landed right in front of the man growling making him back away but as he turned away to run I extended the staff of my spear brought the blade of my spear down in front of him. He turned to face me as I slowly shook my head and said.
"Don't even think about running." He put his hands up as I smiled before I signaled Toothless to be ready if he tried to run. "Now then I why don't you tell me where your fellow tribesmen took the prisoners they took away?" I saw he was hesitating. "Toothless!" He moved his head close to the guys' head and let out a vicious growl.
"They're taken to our ships that are docked by the beaches on the west side of the island."
"How many ships do you have?"
"Ten ships all armed with catapults and there is a small group of men on the beach to keep watch." I smiled.
"And on which ships do they keep the prisoners?"
"We keep them on the ships with the black lightning bolts on the sails." I nodded.
"Thanks for the info." I then used my prosthetic by the neck. "Now you go and turn yourself over to the Berkians in the dungeon and if you try to escape then you'll wish my dragons had you." He gulped and nodded before running towards the Berk cells as I turned to Toothless. "We'll do a quick reconnaissance fly over their ships and then we'll go back to the island and grab some of the others before attacking." He nodded before we took off.
Half-an-hour later
I was mounted on Toothless as I looked down at the beach where I saw around fifteen armed men keeping watch while ten ships were out at sea in a small cove and using my eagle eye I could see the guy I interrogated was telling the truth when he said they were all armed with catapults. I had done a recon flight earlier with Toothless to get a better idea of what dragons would be best for this situation and had come up with a decent battle strategy. I had Berg and Shard do a quick fly by earlier and freeze the water at the exit of the cove trapping the ships inside while also having them wait on the upper walls for the attack. Heatwave had taken his sand form and was now on the beach ready to take down the men standing guard with a sneak attack along with Dune who had burrowed underneath the sand. When the first group of prisoners makes their way to the beach is when they'll strike. There were also a few men in the forest but I had Speedy do a run by a few minutes leaving them paralyzed before having Webster weave a web and hang them up till we could take care of them later but I told them to keep watch for anyone running through the forest. In the water underneath the ships were my Scauldrens and Coral who were ready to help take the Berkians back to dry land on lifeboats.
At my sides were Angel and Phantom who'd be joining me when it came to freeing the prisoners and watching my back. I also had all my Smothering Smokebraths at the ready to disarm the catapults, provide cover and tear apart their ships once the prisoners were safe. Saber was also here to help disarm the men on the top decks and help cause a distraction so I could sneak aboard the ships where the prisoners are. Along with him Bones, Cyclone, Saphire, Violet and Champ would be helping keep the Thunderheads busy while I got the prisoners out and any Thunderheads they capture will be taken to Webster for holding until we could deal with them. I had prepared for this battle by wearing my spare regular armor minus the right arm because of my prosthetic and my battle armor was only meant for major battles but I also wore my eagle shield on my left arm. I had also put a new light green stone into my arm so I'd be able to melt the locks if I couldn't find the keys and grabbed some paralyzing bombs. I looked back at my dragons and said.
"Alright guys you all know the plan?" They all gave growls and nodded. "Let's do guys and be careful."
They all growled before I sent my Smothering Smokebreaths out to begin disarming the catapults and to provide the cover. I watched as smoke from my smothering Smoke breaths engulfed their small bodies as they approached the ships and soon after I heard some yells from ships as men yelled out wanting to know what was happening as me and Toothless went in low and fast with my other dragons staying back until they got the signal. When we were at the side of one of the ships I had Toothless drop me on board before signaling to be ready to pick me up after me and my change wings freed the prisoners. Once we were on board I looked around at the crew who were trying to tend to their catapults before I signaled my changewings to follow me to the lower deck while the crew was distracted. I lead my changewings down into the lower decks and found the cells with the prisoners and four armed guards. I pointed at them and said.
"Take them down."
My changewings blended into the walls and walked towards the guards before Angel jumped on the first two from the ceiling and slammed them down with here claws. The other two saw this and charged at her but Phantom revealed himself in front of them as he growled and swatted them back into the cell doors. I smiled until I heard someone coming down the stairs so I ran into the room and hid behind the wall next to the stairs. When he walked through the door my changewings had already camouflaged themselves. He looked at the downed guards but before he could say anything I put my right hand on his shoulder making him turn around as I smiled and said.
"Hey, how's it going?"
I then activated the blue crystal sending the lightning up my arm and shocking the guy until he fell unconscious. I dragged him away from the bottom of the stairs to make sure nobody saw his body. I walked back up to the cell doors and saw the villagers looking at me before one of the women asked.
"Hiccup?"
"Yeah it's me but keep it down since the last thing we want is to alert the guards upstairs." I looked at one of the downed guards and took the keys of him before unlocking the door. "Don't go up to the top deck until I free everyone and when you do get to the life boats but do your best not to be spotted since I still need to free the prisoners from the other ship."
They all nodded as I melted the lock on the other cell before leading the prisoners upstairs. When I got to the top I held my hand up signaling the following people to stop as I checked for anyone guarding the doorway. I'm glad to say there was nobody there but there were two men guarding the lifeboats. I took out one of my paralyzing bombs and gave it a gentle toss towards them and smiled when it went off leaving the guards paralyzed. I lead the people towards the boats as I signaled my Smothering Smokebreaths who were flying nearby to give us some cover while my changewings kept the men distracted. It was only seconds before the top deck was covered in fog like smoke. I heard the men begin to yell asking what's going on as I lead the people to the lifeboats. When they were all on I said.
"Head for the clear waters near beach where the guards are and don't worry, some of my dragons are on that beach ready to take care of them."
They nodded as I lowered the ships into the waters and turned to the sky and signaled Toothless to come down and collect me. He was quick to do so before we took back into the skies so I could check out the next ship. From above I could see I wasn't as fortunate since the men weren't checking out the catapults but keeping a close look out on the deck for anything suspicious. I signaled my smoke breaths to cover the top deck in smoke to give me the chance to sneak into the lower decks. I saw the smoke cover the top deck before I had Toothless fly in low before I was able to get onto the deck without anyone seeing me. I snuck down into the lower decks with my changewings and saw that this time there was only one guard who saw me enter. Before he could do anything, I launched my fist at him and succeeded in hitting him in the stomach while also pushing him back into the wall. I reeled my hand back as I made my way to the cell's door. When the people saw me, they stared at my arm but I just held up my finger to my lips and said.
"I'll explain everything later but for now I need you all to stand back from the door and then make your way to the life boats and to the beach so I can begin the full-on attack." They all nodded before I began melting the locks, before letting them out as Astrid's mother said.
"Hiccup the chief had the guards take Astrid after she fought back."
"Did anyone say what they were going to do to her?"
"All he said was he was going to have some fun while teaching her a little respect and I did not like the look he was giving her."
"I'll find them so don't worry and get to the lifeboats."
She nodded before I lead them to the top deck, which was still covered in smog. It wasn't that hard to get everyone onto the ships and on their way with my changewings helping to keep an eye on them alongside my tidal classes. Once that was done I watched as they sailed away but before I could do anything I heard weapons being unsheathed behind me. I turned around and saw the crew all of which were glaring at me. I looked around at them before one charged at me with his sword raised but when he brought it down I caught the blade in my prosthetic hand bringing an end to the strike. He struggled to try and get his blade free but this allowed me the chance to pull him closer, grab him by his shirt and throw him overboard. The other men took this as a sign to begin attack in and charged at me as I took out my spear and began fighting. One charged right at me but I stepped to the side making him run past before I slammed the staff of my spear into his back sending him over the railing. Another came at me but I hit him in the gut with my staff making him fall to his knees in pain. Seeing their downed comrades, they tried all began charging me in an attempt to overrun me but I stabbed the blade of my spear into the ground and then used it to volt over their heads while extending the staff to get a little more height and distance away from them on the floor. They all turned to face me as I examined the crystal head of my spear and said.
"You know I've been wondering what happens if I stabbed it into the deck of a ship." I smiled at them. "Let's find out shall we?"
I then stabbed the crystal head into the deck before it began vibrating as crystals burst from the deck but they began to spread and burst out of the ships sides as well. This of course allowed water to flow in and begin sinking the ship. The crew stared at me in absolute shock as I smiled at them and said.
"Well gentlemen it's been fun but I've got to fly."
I whistled for Toothless who was quick to come and get me off the ship before we began the real attack. I had him let out a plasma blast at one of the smaller ships knocking the mast over while also signaling all my other dragons to begin attacking. Within seconds the sound of screams, dragon roars and blasts and explosions filled the air along with smoke. My dragons were attacking the men left and right and the water was quickly filling with more men than there are fish. Some tried to sail only to be stopped by the ice before being attacked by Berg and Shard. I attacked some of the ships myself by having Toothless fly past some of them allowing me to pull out of my spear and scrape into their hulls with the crystal head. This caused crystals to burst out of the side allowing water to fill them and sink the ships. My eyes then landed on the largest ship of them all where a large man walked out from below the decks before some men walked up to him and revealed him to be the Chief Snorre. I frowned knowing that if this was the man who took Astrid and probably had her in the lower decks so I said.
"Fly down near that ships deck bud and I'll jump off to take care of Snorre while you and the others continue the attacks on the ships." He growled and nodded before we began flying towards the deck as Snorre yelled.
"SEND THOSE BEASTS BACK TO WHEREVER THEY CAME FROM!"
I smiled as we came in low before I jumped off Toothless towards Snorre with my foot out resulting in me delivering a flying kick to his chest. He stumbled back as a man tried to attack me from the side only for champ to swoop down and carry him off. I smiled before another man charged at me but I just ducked underneath him and swiped the staff of my spear underneath his legs sending him tumbling down. Another guy came at me with his sword raised but I unfolded my eagle shield blocking the blow while also shattering the blade and creating a shockwave that sent him over the railing. I folded my shield and shrunk my spear before it went back into my arm as I turned to Snorre who was just beginning to stand up and recover from my kick. He rubbed his chin and frowned.
"That's one mean kick you have their lad."
"Thanks, and I assume you're Snorre the Vast." He nodded.
"And I assume you're Stoicks boy Hiccup the dragon rider."
"Yeah I am." He pulled out his sword.
"If you ask me to come peacefully I'll run you through where you stand." I released my star sword and held it at the ready.
"Please if my past experiences have taught me anything it's that your kinds never come peacefully so let's get this over with so I can go home and get some dinner."
He growled and charged at me before bringing his sword down towards me before I swung mine up to meet his making it snap in two. He looked from his broken blade to my sword before he dropped the broken blade and came at me with his fists raised. He began swinging at me like a mad man but I just ducked under his blows or stepped to the side to avoid them which wasn't that hard since he was driven by anger and that made his attacks sloppy. I caught one of his fists with my prosthetic hand and got a firm grip before swinging him into the wall before letting go. He glared at me before I said.
"When you allow your anger to get the better of you it makes your moves sloppy and easier for your opponent to fight back." He just growled.
"SHUT UP YOU LITTLE RUNT!" I glared at him.
"Don't. Ever. Call. Me. RUNT!"
I then hit him in the face with my golden arm and heard a sickening crunch as he flew back into the wall and fell unconscious. I took a deep breath to calm down a bit and surprised being called a runt could still hit a nerve like it did but then again after how I was treated before Toothless it would be surprising if it didn't. I then remembered the real reason I boarded his ship was to find Astrid and get her out of here so I could sink the ship and capture the remaining Thunderheads. I walked past the unconscious chief and made my way down the hall checking all the rooms as I did and occasionally punching out some men who tried to jump me when I opened the door. After punching out four men and finding rooms mostly full of weapons or food I came to the door at the end of the hall. I tried opening only to find it locked so I took out my star sword and used it to slice through the door hinges before I simply pushed the door down making it fall to the ground. When I entered I found the room to be Snorre's quarters with a desk on one side, a bookshelf next to it and across from it was a bed however what caught my attention was the person on the bed. It was Astrid with her hands tied behind her back, her legs tied and a gag in her mouth while the bottom of her shirt had been cut upwards stopping just above her belly button. From this it wasn't hard to figure out what Snorre intended to do to her and to say I was disgusted would be the biggest understatement in Norse history. I ran up to the bed began cutting the restraints around her legs with my rotating blade as I said.
"Don't worry Astrid, I'll have you free and out of here soon." As soon as her legs were free I moved onto her arms and as soon as she was free she pulled me into a hug before I returned the hug and gently rubbed her back and whispered. "It's going to be okay Astrid." I let her go and saw she had tears in her eyes as she removed her gag but before she could say anything I held up a hand silencing her. "Let's get out of here and I'll take you back to your parents." She nodded before I helped her up and lead her out but when we made it to the top deck a now conscious Snorre was waiting for us.
"Did you really think that little punch would take me down for long?" I just glared at him. "I see you found the girl who needed to learn her place." I just continued to glare at him. "When I'm done with you and those dragons of yours I'll be sure to teach the lass her proper place." I felt Astrid hide behind me which showed how bad things had gotten in that room since she never showed fear before.
"You're never going to touch her again, YOU FILTHY PIECE OF YAK DUNG!"
I pointed my fist at him and launched it at full speed towards him slamming him in the stomach and into the mast. I watched as he fell to the ground gasping for air to try and get it back into his lungs while I began walking towards him as I reeled my arm back into its slot. When I reached Snorre I grabbed him by the back of the neck with my golden arm and forced him onto his hands and knees. I glared at him and said.
"I never planned to use this on anyone other than an intimidation method but I'd say after what you did to Astrid you deserve it."
My golden arm began to glow purple through the cracks as the palm of the hand began to heat up and when it was at its hottest I had my Stone of good fortune come out and press against the back of his neck. Snorre screamed in pain and began to struggle but I held him in place as I branded the back of his neck. I held onto his neck with the burning piece of metal holding on for ten straight minutes before I ended it and let go. He collapsed to the ground gasping as I stared at the darkened red mark on the back of his neck and said.
"I'd kill you now but I'd rather not be so kind to you." I then stomped my foot onto the back of his head and slammed his face into the deck knocking him out cold before I walked back to Astrid smiling. "Let's get you home." I once again brought my fingers to my lips and let out a loud whistle that was longer than the last one before Toothless, Bones and Champ came in for a landing on the deck. "Champ go and get the men that are unconscious on the lower deck." Champ walked through the door to the lower decks as I turned to Bones and pointed to Snorre. "Bones drop this piece of scum with the others in Webster's web but keep a close eye on him and if he even makes a wrong move roar in his face." He growled and picked Snorre up before carrying him away as I turned to Astrid. "Don't worry Astrid, he'll never even touch you again." She just nodded before I mounted Toothless and offered my hand to help her onto him and once she was on she took a tight hold of my waist as we took off but as we did I knew she needed something to take her mind off what happened so I looked down at Toothless. "Take us up bud."
He crooned before flying us up into the clouds and I could tell Astrid liked it by how she loosened her grip before resting her head on my back. I smiled seeing she was beginning to relax from what happened on that ship but I could tell it would still take time for her to emotionally recover from this event. When we got back to the village I had Toothless land in front of her hut before I said.
"You go inside and get some rest while I go and get your parents." She just smiled at me and nodded before walking into her hut.
Three hours later
I walked into my room and collapsed onto the bed but after what I had been doing for the past three hours who could blame me. The first thing I did after I dropped her off at her hut was have Toothless fly back to the Berk Dungeons where her father was and informed him of what happened. He didn't take it that well but who could blame him, he immediately demanded we fly him to his hut on the other side of the village as fast as we could. I was all too happy to do this and when we landed he ran into the hut faster than I thought possible as he yelled for Astrid. After that we went and got her mother from the beach where all the captives were gathered and she behaved the same way as her husband. Once the Hoffersons were back in the village I had to help escort the freed Berkians back to the village and then transport all the Thunderheads we captured who at this point had all been cocooned by Webster. They were all now waiting in the Berk Dungeons and per my request Snorre was in solitary confinement and would be on his way to Outcast island tomorrow which got me a thanks from the Hoffersons since they wanted him away from their daughter. After all that was taken care of though I had to deal with my father demanding to know what happened and what happened to my arm but I just told him it had been a long night and I would explain everything in the morning. He complained about it until Gobber stepped in and convinced him to leave it till the morning allowing me to leave. Now I just laid there and closed my eyes before closing my eyes and falling into a well-deserved sleep knowing tomorrow was going to be a long day.
Morning
I was in the Great hall with Toothless laying behind me, a satchel next to me with my severed arm inside it, my dad and Gobber sitting in front of me and the rest of the village behind them. The reason I was here was because it was time to tell everyone what happened on my latest trip and as for bringing my severed arm I figured I figured I might as well show it to them so they understand why I severed it. I sat back in my chair and said.
"Well we're all her so what would you like to know?" Gobber replied.
"Why don't we start with what happened to your right arm lad?"
"It's a long story Gobber."
"Let me see it."
He held out his hand as I smiledreached into my satchel and pulled out my arm before handing it to him. Gobber looked down at it then let out a small yelp before he dropped it onto the table. My dad walked up and examined it for a few seconds before he looked back up at me. He glanced at my prosthetic before he asked.
"What is that thing?"
"My real right arm encased in crystal."
"What happened to it?"
"Morgaine le Fay and her dark magic in England happened."
"England?" I nodded. "I thought you said you were going to visit Ireland."
"I did but I ended up also visiting Scotland and England." I rubbed my chin. "Let's start with what happened at the beginning in Ireland since it'll help make things a lot easier to explain." He nodded before I began my tale.
4 hours later
I was back on my island relaxing in a hot spring with the egg of the green death sitting on my lap as I went over everything that happened back on Berk. I told everyone what happened in Ireland, Scotland and England and needed to stop from time to time to answer questions about some things like the creatures I faced, how I killed them and tell the tale of the Glostic sisters. When it came to my battle with Morgaine le Fay and severing my arm there were a whole lot of gasps and occasional cry before I finished off with how I was blasted off the edge and fell only to be rescued and rewarded by the Celtic gods. When I finished off how my story I had to say my dad took things a whole lot better than I thought he would since he only yelled for an hour instead of his usual two. He then went onto tell me how dangerous it was for me to go up against such a powerful foe and that I was forbidden from doing anymore travelling. I laughed at this and reminded him that I live on my own island, in my own house and there was nothing he could do to stop me from travelling to new places. Before he could reply to this however Gobber cut in telling my dad that I was right about having my own place and island now so there wasn't anything he could do to stop me if he tried. Gobber then turned his attention back to me and told me it would be best if I held off the travelling to new places for a while and when it came to that I agreed since every time I did find a new place I went up against some monster and this time it cost me my arm.
I needed time to just hang back and design some new stuff, play with my wolves, train my dragons, read some books and just enjoy my island. I figured I'd visit some of the places I've already been to visit some of my old friends. It'll be nice to sharpen some of my skills against the different fighting styles I've learned with real people instead of just the illusions the mirror in my training room created. Besides that, Maya was due any day now and the last thing I want is to miss the birth of her cubs. Still though I figured I'd go back to the jungle and possibly collect a few more of the native birds for the jungle and possibly some of the fish for the rivers to give it more music of the jungle. It was then I was brought out of my thoughts by the egg in my lap beginning to shake around. At first, I didn't put much thought into it since it had given a gentle shake every now and again before I left for Ireland. I knew it was a sign that the dragon was still alive in the egg, developing well and it would be hatching soon but it would take a few more weeks which is why I didn't worry about being here for the birth when I left. This time however it was shaking more violently and when cracks began to form I knew it was hatching so I whistled to call my nearby dragons in which consisted of Toothless, Dune, Sharpshot and Boulder who came running in wanting to see what was going on. When they saw the egg was beginning to hatch they all gathered around the hot spring as I placed the egg under water for the explosion that always happens when a dragon egg explodes but I still sat in the water to greet the baby. It wasn't long before the egg exploded with a dragon that looked like a tiny red death with pale green scales and small wings came out. It swam up to the surface and began looking around before its six eyes landed on me and it began swimming towards me as I smiled and picked it up under its arms as I said.
"Hey there little one, I'm your daddy." It just tilted its head at me in confusion. "Don't worry, you'll understand eventually." I then adjusted my golden hand so it was under what I now realized was her back allowing me to carry her like a baby and get out of the hot spring with my present dragons coming to see her so I kneeled down as they all walked up making her try to hide her face in my chest. "Don't worry sweetie they won't hurt you." I gently rubbed between her wings as Toothless walked up and gave her a few sniffs before crooning as the little one pulled her head out of my chest looking at him as he gently nuzzled her stomach making her let out a small rumble. "Now let's get you cleaned up so you can meet the rest of your new family while we think of a good name for you." I then carried her back into the water before I began scrubbing off the remaining egg goo and shells off her hide while trying to think of a name for the latest addition to my family.
AN: Hey if you've read my last authors note you'll know I'm not going to have Hiccup travelling to any new places for a while since I've come to realize I'm stuck in a rut which I would very much like to get out of so I'll be focusing the next couple of chapters on Hiccup visiting other Viking tribes, working on his island, returning to the places he's been to visit old friends, fight some plain old human opponents, designing new things and more. If you have ideas you'd like to see written let me know in the form of either a review or PM and I shall see what I can do. Also if you have any names for the newly hatched GreenDeath let me know because I need some.
