[A/N] This chapter fought me the entire time I wrote for some reason. I actually had to put down the fic and come back to it the next day, something that has never happened before. Gaz is surprisingly hard to write.
This chapter is a summary of the previous chapters in Gaz's Pov so as to give her feelings some fleshing out.
Please enjoy!
Iiek groaned as she realized something. She had just invited Gaz to her base, and if what she said was true, her brother wasn't coming. It would just be Iiek and Gaz. Alone. Together. In her base for an indetermiable amount of time.
'I'm doomed aren't I?' She thought in dismay.
Gaz had a problem. A problem that came in the form of a green skinned alien girl that seemed determined to make Gaz's life harder, even if unintentionally.
When Gaz had first met Iiek, she hadn't had much of an opinion on the other girl. Oh sure, she had immediately noticed she was smarter than the only other member of her race Gaz knew, but given who that member was, it wasn't really the greatest feat. She had been content to let the invader do what she wanted as long as she left Gaz out of it, god knows she already had enough craziness in her life.
So when Iiek started sitting at Gaz's table during lunch, she was annoyed to say the least. She had believed at the time that the disguised girl was going to try to involve Gaz in her plan for world and was prepared to reject the offer, violently if she needed to. Instead, Iiek just sat there and just… stared at her for the entirety of the fourty five minute lunch, not saying a word.
And she did it again the next day. And the next. And the next. Until eventually, an entire week had passed and Gaz finally got fed up and asked her what her deal was. The answer had not been what she expected.
"You interest me Gaz."
Though she had not let it show on her face at the time, the purple haired girl had been extremely surprised. Gaz had been called many things in her relatively short life, evil and terrifying being some of the most used, but in all her life, interesting had never been something that applied to her.
Gaz had no patience for people that annoyed her, and unfortunately for the greater human race, they were seemingly incapable of being anything but annoying. This had led to Gaz curating a vicious persona specifically designed to ward people off, which is what had apparently caught Iiek's eye in the first place. She had been impressed by the way Gaz treated other members of her species, correctly assuming the purple haired girl loathed the majority of them.
She had then gone on to do something nobody else had the guts to do, talk with her. The conversation had revealed numerous things to Gaz. For one, Iiek was much more competent than Zim if her claims were true. In the short few months she had been on earth, she had already put herself in the position to take it over, all with nobody the wiser. Although Gaz personally felt there was no need for the subterfuge, humans could be remarkably stupid.
Another thing that was revealed was the fact that Iiek wasn't on Earth to conquer it for her race, she was here to do it for herself, something Gaz could respect. Not only that, she also hated the leaders of her race, hated them to the point that she had actually gotten a little worked up about it to Gaz's surprise. From what little she had seen of the other girl at that point, she was usually much more composed.
Iiek had stopped herself before she could truly get going but that little outburst had revealed enough. The invader didn't just hate these Tallest, she loathed them with every fiber of her being. For what, Gaz didn't know, but she had a feeling she'd find out eventually.
All in all, lunch had been … odd, to say the least, having someone willing to talk to her without running away or shaking in fear wasn't exactly something she was used to but Gaz had to say, it was nice. Odd, but nice.
And then Iiek started teasing her, something nobody ever had balls to do for the very valid fear Gaz would remove them if they tried.
The Irken girl had no such fear apparently, walking over to the purple haired girl and leaning in so close that Gaz could feel the other girl's breath on her face before smIrkeng and handing her a device that would let her contact the invader at any time. When questioned about the gift, Iiek made small remarks that couldn't be misconstrued for anything but what they clearly were, flirting. With Her.
And then the disguised invader left. Walking away with a smirk on her face as if she hadn't just upended Gaz's entire emotional state in the span of a minute.
Gaz had been speechless, in all of her life, nobody had ever had the guts to flirt with her. Her standoffish personality had ensured that anyone who was even remotely interested in her wouldn't dare to approach, just the way Gaz liked it. She found the majority of her fellow humans annoying at best and completely revolting at worst, she had no interest in dating any of them.
Then a girl Gaz had known for barely a week had barged in and left her head spinning with just a few words and gestures. It was infuriating and Gaz didn't know how to respond. She had just sat and stared at the phone for the rest of lunch, mind whirling as she tried to comprehend what had happened.
Their little confrontation at dinner later that night had left Gaz even more confused. When Iiek had shown up to her house unannounced, Gaz had felt a surge of anger as well as a small pang of betrayal, she believed Iiek's earlier gift and remarks were nothing but a ruse to get to her father. Professor Membrane was the most famous man in the world, any invader with half a brain would know that impersonating him was a one way ticket to world domination.
Gaz may have found her brother annoying and her father may have been more than a little absent, but they were still her family, Gaz still loved them. And she would utterly destroy anybody who dared harm the people she loved.
She had taken Iiek upstairs, bringing her into the hallway between her and her brother's rooms before slamming her against the wall, holding her there by the collar and demanding an explanation. And she got one, although it wasn't one she expected.
Apparently Iiek hadn't come there to replace her dad as Gaz had originally thought. Hell, the invader hadn't even known Membrane had children, having only done the bare minimum when researching the man's home life as she found it unimportant.
Iiek had claimed that she already had her own hands full with her own company and that she was just there to secure a partnership with Membrane Technologies, something that Gaz hesitantly believed as she recalled just how big IRK Tech had become in it's relatively short life. The company had gone from some no name startup to a massive multimillion corporation in just a few months.
They had even bought out the GES in it's entirety and took over production of the Gameslave. Something Gaz had been actually happy about when she heard of it as she felt the most recent console releases had become to samey. IRK Tech had promised a complete overhaul of the Gameslave console, something that would take a lot of resources and gave credit to Iiek's claims.
She had stared at the other girl for a moment, amber eyes searching amethyst for any sign of a lie and finding none, before a comment from Iiek made her pause.
"Not that I don't enjoy this, but maybe you could let me down before your father or brother come to check on us?"
She had dropped the other girl as if scalded, heart beating weirdly in her chest as she watched the other girl rise back to her feet. That was when Gaz knew for certain she had a problem.
And as she layed in bed that night, she had laughed at how absurd it was. Of course the first person she would ever have a crush on was an alien, why wouldn't it be? Gaz had always been the most normal in her family, if you could call any of them normal, so it only made sense that life would throw her a curveball like this. And wasn't it ironic that the alien she had a crush on was from the same species as the one her brother was constantly obsessing over.
She was stopped from deciding what to do about her newly discovered crush by Tak appearing at skool the next day. Gaz had heard the sound of the 'jet' landing all the way on the other side of the campus but she just thought it was another one of Zim's plans to take over the world and ignored it.
It was only during lunch, when Gaz actually caught sight of the other girl as she was leaving the cafeteria that she realized something was off about her.
For one, Tak looked almost exactly like Iiek's own disguise, down to the dark blue hair and pale skin. In fact, if it wasn't for the mole under her left eye, Gaz may have mistaken her for the invader. Not only that, but emblazoned on Tak's shirt was a symbol Gaz had seen on most of Zim's technology, the symbol of the Irken Empire.
When she got home, Gaz had immediately used the phone Iiek had given her to call the invader, mildly surprised that it went straight to video instead of just giving her the option to talk like normal. The screen lit up and Gaz was given a view of the inside of Iiek's base.
It was mostly comprised of dark grey metal and purple LEDs, something that Gaz approved of. Numerous complex machines were scattered around the area she could view, test tubes and beakers giving her the indication that this was a lab of some sort. A small robot was in the background fiddling with some sort of device.
And then there was the girl herself. Greeting her with a smile on her face as the mechanical legs coming out of her PAK set her down on the ground. Gaz was stunned as she took in Iiek's appearance.
Gaz had seen Zim outside of his disguise once or twice so she thought she knew what to expect. She was wrong.
Instead of the pale green that Gaz knew Zim for, Iiek's skin was a deep emerald. Her eyes, instead of being round like Zim's were instead more narrow, amethyst lenses peaking out from behind dark lashes. Her teeth were also slightly sharper than Zim's, Gaz noted as they gleamed in the dim light of her base.
Her clothes were reminiscent of Zim's own, only purple and black instead of red and pink. A collar hid her neck from view and there was a small silver bracelet on her wrist that pulsed lightly with purple light.
Two antenna extended toward the back of her skull, curling in on themselves delicately and twitching slightly as she spoke and Gaz had found herself wondering how Iiek would react if she tugged on them lightly, only to immediately flush at the thought.
Iiek had shaken her out of her observations, expressing concern and offering to reactivate her disguise if her appearance made Gaz uncomfortable. Which it did, just not in the way the Irken thought.
Iiek was beautiful. And Gaz couldn't even fault herself for admitting it.
She reassured Iiek that she was fine as she was, before changing the subject to Tak. She told the Iiek about how the other girl looked almost exactly like her disguise, mentioning that they could pass as sisters. At first, Iiek believed the other girl's appearance could be a coincidence, but when Gaz mentioned the Delicious Weenie Corporation, she got a weird look on her face before telling Gaz to meet her at her base, informing her that the Earth might actually be in danger.
Now Gaz didn't really care about the Earth all that much, but her brother was enamored with Tak and could be in actual trouble because of it. Gaz may have found him annoying beyond all reason, but she didn't want him actually hurt.
And so here she was, walking up to the house which held her crush. About to be alone with her in her base for an undetermined amount of time. How fun.
Truth be told, there were far worse people to have a crush on than Iiek. The Irken was intelligent, beautiful, and didn't annoy Gaz with every word out of her mouth. A pretty big feat all things considered.
So yes, Gaz had a problem.
Though, as she reached her hand out to ring the doorbell to a modest one story house, she knew it could be a lot worse.
[A/N] This chapter was mostly set up for the whole Tak thing. Hope it didn't seem to rushed, I was working on a time crunch.
Till next time!
