Chapter 83
Hiccups POV:
It's been four weeks since me and Heather took our separate ways and in those times, things have been nothing but busy for me. To start off with I got a message from the defenders of the wing requesting my assistance with something and with them being my allies I couldn't turn them down. It turns out their eruptadon had laid two eggs which was remarkably rare for eruptadons which normally just laid one in their life time and this has only ever happened once before in the time of the defenders of the wing. Sadly, laying the eggs took a lot of strength from the eruptadon so it weakened their already aged dragon. The eggs needed the lava of their ancestral hatching sight, which is a cavern deep inside the volcano, or they'd die which is why they called me in to help deliver the egg. For my team I just had Coal and Mala since Coals hovering would be the easiest way to get us into the caverns. While exploring them we stumbled onto some old paintings on the wall where explained that in the past the tribal elders of the defenders of the wing would sacrifice themselves in order to get the egg to the hatching sight. I examined the paintings for a bit right before a group of dragons that looked like night terrors with their upper bodies being red and their eyes glowing red attacked us. Mala did her best to protect the eggs in her satchels but I remembered reading about these dragons from the dragon eye and knew they weren't trying to hurt the egg and from the paintings I knew what we had to do. I explained to Mala that I knew what we had to do, pass me one of the eggs and to follow my lead. She reluctantly handed one of the eggs over to me before I stepped forward and held it up while telling Mala how the dragons weren't trying to harm the egg but trying to take it to the hatching sight. I held it up and they quickly took the egg as Mala did the same with the other and that one was taken as well before we got out of the cavern just before the lava began to flood. Throk was quite relieved to have Mala back safe and sound while telling me he'd be eternally grateful to Coal and me for the safe return of his queen. Still though if the gods ever test me again I think I might ask for immunity to heat and lava.
Earlier today I was on the edge taking a walk through my base in the morning sun and enjoying a relaxing day and who could really blame me with what's been going on. I've launched multiple attacks on the hunters all of which I've had no trouble with, especially with Bellow, Long shot and the cadets which was the nickname I'd given the other Shadow wings. With them helping me out with the attacks, the hunters never stood a chance against us resulting in their ships being sunk, their men captured and their catches set free. I always found it cool how Bellow swoops in blasting the ships with his loud roar as the shadow wings hit the ships with everything they had meaning the ships were sunk within seconds of their attack. Sadly, I was brought out of my thoughts by a terror with a message tied to its leg landing on my shoulder. I gave the terror a scratch under the chin and took the note from its leg. When I finished reading it however my good mood was replaced by one of complete frustration at the twins.
The message was from my dad informing me that Tuffnut had broken his favorite mace and was in tears about it. He would've gone to Gobber for repairs but he was sick with the flu and wasn't allowed near the forge until he was better. Tuffnut wanted to send for me to come help but my dad told him that he wasn't going to allow him to bother me with such menial tasks when the dragon hunters were out there still. Apparently Tuffnut didn't take this well and was already in tears over his busted mace only wailed more about it until he figured he could go to the northern markets to have it fixed. My dad put his foot down at this reminding him that it was crawling with hunters who were no friends to Berk and forbid them from going there. As expected of the twins however they went anyway which reminds me of why I kept my islands protective shield on whenever I'm away from Berk.
After I finished the letter I made up a team consisting of Toothless, Sear, Rubble, Diggs, Scardian and Slasher. For equipment I went with my regular armor along with my god made weapons except for my spirit arrow quiver settling for a quiver full of explosive arrows. As for crystals I loaded my arm with a purple, red, blue and two light green crystals. I was hoping my dragons wouldn't need to fight though since I didn't want them to get hurt while defending the twins. When we got to the Northern markets however I didn't find the twins but I did hear someone talking about a set of twins with a busted mace asking for help from a blacksmith. This brings us to where I am now which is standing in front of the blacksmith who was on the ground surrounded by me dragons. I looked down at him with a glare and said.
"Where are the twins?"
"Twins?" He raised his hand. "What twins?" I turned to Slasher.
"Slasher would you be so kind as to jog his memory?" He gave a growl and nod before unwinding his tails as he walked behind the blacksmith and picked him up by his legs, dangling him upside down and shaking the stingers of his other two tails near his head.
"Yes, yes, yes, twin dragon hunters wanting a gronkle iron mace repaired."
"Dragon hunters?"
"Well they said they broke the mace over a dragon riders head." He swung his arms a bit. "You know the one who's always got that golden armor covering his right arm." I shook my head in annoyance that he didn't realize that was me.
"Where did they go?"
"I don't know!" Slasher brought his stingers closer to the black smiths face. "Viggo's recalled all his hunters to a secret island base and no one knows where it is." I could see in his eyes he was laying to me.
"I think you do know."
"But if I tell you I'll lose my business, not to mention my life." I smiled at him and signaled Slasher to drop him, which he did but before he could get up I stood over him.
"I'll tell you what." He looked up at me. "You can either help me or" I gestured to Diggs who began rotating his teeth. "you can help Diggs and all you can help him with is Dinner." Diggs immediately slithered towards him and when he was five feet in front of the blacksmith he began to flame up the inside of his mouth while growling getting the desired result of the blacksmith singing like a canary to the point that two minutes later me and my dragons were on our way to the island.
2 hours later
We were flying over the island and using my eagle eye I saw they had Ruffnut tied to a post in a large cove so I told Diggs to hang back and start tunneling towards the cove in case we needed him to dig us a way out. He did so taking cover in the forest a little ways away from the cove as the others and I flew ahead. As soon as we flew over the trees the hunters began firing arrows at us, which we were able to avoid as my dragons fired back at them with me launching my explosive arrows. It was then someone opened a door in the cove that lead out to the ocean and in doing so began to flood the cove with Ruffnut in it. I turned to Rubble who had just swooped down to grab a hunter and throw him into another one and said.
"Get that lever pushed back."
He growled and nodded before flying over to the lever and pushing it down shutting the door. Toothless and I swooped down to Ruffnut as I let loose another explosive arrow at some archers at the edge of the cove on the cliffs. I whistled signaling my dragons to come down and give us some cover, which they were all too happy to do while landing on the thing they were building. I dismounted Toothless and ran to Ruffnut while glaring at her while she just smiled at me and said.
"My hero!"
"Don't call me that because when we get out of here you and that buffoon of a brother are in so much trouble and not just with me and my dad." Before she could reply however shadows landed on us and I looked up to see they had chained up the roof of the cove as Viggo walked up to the cliff as he said.
"You know Hiccup, when your opponent presents you with the opportunity to wipe out all his pieces at once it is the cunning player who seizes the moment." He turned to the hunter at the lever. "WIDER!" The hunter pulled the lever opening the gates wider as I mounted Toothless and signaled Slasher to grab Ruffnut while I smiled at Viggo.
"IT'S ALSO THE SMART PLAYER WHO COMES UP WITH A CONTINGENCY PLAN TO SAVE HIS PIECES!" I looked up at the sky. "DIGGS!" As soon as I yelled that Diggs burst through the wall of the cove while roaring before we took off down the newly formed tunnel and burst out into the forest startling Tuffnut who was looking down the hole but before he could do anything Slasher had him wrapped in one of his tails and we were off to Berk.
5 hours later
We came to land in the middle of the village where not only were the twins parents but so was my father who looked anything but happy. When we landed my father immediately began to rip into the twins about how dangerous it was, how they'd trouble they were in, how much trouble they caused and of course how they'd be punished. Their parents were the same but only began ripping into them after hugging them so tight I thought I heard their ribs crack. I decided to sit back and enjoy the show like they did to me so many times not really paying attention to what was being said until Tuffnut said.
"Oh come on it all worked out in the end." He held up his mace. "I got Macey fixed," He pointed the mace at me. "And Hiccup saved us." I hopped off the barrel I was sitting on and took the mace from his hand before pointing it at his head.
"I should mace you myself for pulling such an idiotic stunt." He backed up in fear.
"Hey it worked out didn't it?" Ruffnut then said.
"And I got these cool things off of Viggo's desk." I turned to see her holding up a rolled up parchment and much to my surprise a dragon eye lens.
"Viggo had those?"
"Yeah and he didn't even notice I'd taken them." She tossed the lens in the air and caught it in her hand. "Pretty smart huh?" She tossed it up in the air again but before she could catch it I snatched it out of the air. "Hey that's mine."
"It's a dragon eye lens so you won't be able to use it but I will."
"Yeah but I found it."
"No, you stole it and I'll be taking the parchment to."
"The parchments just some plan for whatever it is their building but forget about that and give me back my lens." Before I could reply my dad held his hand up at me before turning to Ruffnut while saying.
"My son just risked his life and the lives of his dragons to save you and your brother so I believe the lens and parchment will be suitable payment for it and it's not going to do you any good since you'll be too busy shoveling yak dung on every farm on Berk to use them." She groaned and handed me the parchment while I dropped the mace, which Tuff was quick to pick up and cuddle as I unrolled the parchment and examined the plans. "What is it?"
"I don't know but it's big and I don't think it's for catching dragons." I looked at the lens in my other hand. "This might hold the answers but to be safe send a warning to the Outcasts and the Berserkers to be on their guard." He nodded while I mounted Toothless so we could get back to the edge so I could begin work.
6 days later
It's been six days since I saved the twins from the hunters and those days had been surprisingly quiet for both my dragons and I. The only interesting things to happen is I had to deal with a wild triplestrike wondering around the island and causing trouble for some of the dragons that had made this island their home. I brought in Slasher to come help out with it but as it turns out the wild triplestrike didn't like other triplestrikes entering what it considered its territory. It ended up turning into a battle between the two of them, which unsurprisingly Slasher won since he had the experience from the dragon fights. When he could've gone for the kill I called him off surprising the other triplestrike but this showed it we meant no harm and it accepted us but preferred to be on its own. I'd often see it in the base wondering around or exploring the island on its own.
Other than that, I'd mostly been worried about project shellfire and the hunters. I had warned the Berserkers, Defenders of the wing, the Outcasts and of course my father about it but none of us could figure out what it was. I'd gone over the plans so many times but come up with nothing to understand what they were up to and the lens didn't help that much either. It mentioned a tidal class dragon known as the shellfire that is said to be very powerful and capable of very much destruction with its giant horns and was known to be mistaken for an island from time to time. I figure that thing they're building might be something they intend to use to capture a shell fire but I honestly didn't know since besides a description and a few facts the lens didn't offer much more information. All I knew was that I had to take Viggo down before he tried anything else and I knew exactly how to do it in a way that would finally bring the dragon hunters to an end.
My plan was to go in with a team that consisted of Dagur, Heather and my father with my changewings, Scardian, Heatwave, Siren, Champ and Shipsbane. The reason for Heather and Dagur was they were here to disarm the traps, catapults and take down any hunters watching them while my dad was here because he refused to be left out since he wanted to have a few 'words' with Viggo for coming after Berk. The plan was for my changewings to take down the men guarding the island on ships by grabbing and pulling them into the water, Champ and Scardian were there to help take down any men on guard. Heatwave was going to turn into a sandstorm in their main camping area making Ryker an easy target while me and Toothless went into the tent to confront Viggo while Shipsbane made sure no ships got away. Sadly, we never got the chance to put my plan into action since when we arrived to put it into action we discovered that someone had already hit them before we even had the chance. The ships were wreckages, the catapults were burning piles of wood, the campsites were wrecks and most importantly there weren't any hunters to fight. We came to land in front of Viggo's tent as my Dagur said.
"Looks like someone beat us to the attack." My dad replied.
"The question is who?"
I dismounted Toothless and walked up to Viggo's tent since it was the only tent still intact. I walked into it with Toothless and saw the entire tent had been ransacked with nearly everything turned onto its sides, knocked over or broken into pieces. I walked up to the table and saw a maces and talons board set up on top of it, which made my blood boil before I yelled.
"ODIN WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO CATCH THIS GUY?!"
I kicked the table over sending the contents to the ground but when a maces and talons piece hit a blanket I heard the sound of wood being hit. Toothless walked over to it and sniffed the ground before growling as he stepped back so I could pull the cover off. Underneath it was a trap door and when I opened it I found a simple pit with Viggo at the bottom who said.
"I never imagined these words would come out of this mouth but my dear Hiccup, I am overjoyed to see you."
1 day later
It's only been one day since we went on to attack the dragon hunters but in that short amount of time so much has happened. After I was able to stop my dad from strangling Viggo he went onto explain what happened to their base. Apparently, Ryker's abandoned all sense of reason and swayed the minds of the dragon hunters, turning them against their leader, which is what happened here. He now plans to kill my dragon and I while wiping out all of my allies and when I asked him how it was different from the other enemies I've both faced and defeated he just told it was project shellfire. When I asked him what it is he told me that he'd reveal all in due time including some dragon eye lenses he possessed under the condition I help him stop his brother and send him on his way. I made it clear I didn't trust him and he agreed claiming it was a stretch but offered information. Ryker intends to attack my allies beginning with the Defenders of the Wing followed by the Outcasts, Berserkers and Berk in no particular order.
Not trusting Viggo I brought him to the Defenders of the Wing where Throk locked him up as Mala questioned my sanity in bringing him to their home but I told her if what he said was true both her and her people were in grave danger. Turns out she wasn't just worried about her people but also worried about the two newly hatched eruptadons. They were adorable but were very frail due to being so young and needed to keep their hunger satiated. As we discussed it one of the babies ran up to my leg and began rubbing its side against it asking for attention, which I was happy to give, but before I could there was a mass of explosions. I looked up and saw what looked to be giant boulders full of glowing blue plasma raining down from the sky and exploding when they hit the ground. Throk yelled that the wrath of the gods was upon them as one headed straight for the baby and me but I kneeled down and held the baby to my chest as I unfolded my eagle shield. I held it over us to try and block the projectile and am happy to say I was successful before I turned to Angel and Phantom ordering them to get both of the baby eruptadons out of there to which Mala agreed. Once I saw the babies were safe I mounted Toothless and summoned the rest of my dragons who were with me which consisted of the team I took to attack the hunters besides Shipsbane who I sent back to the edge in case the hunters tried to invade again to see where these explosions were coming from. We saw two hunter ships that were easy enough to deal with but when we looked where the explosions were being launched from there was nothing. When we got back I was told that in all the confusion Viggo was able to escape before I offered Mala and her tribe safety on the edge but she told me they needed to protect their home. Mala did however ask me to take the baby eruptadons with me for their own protection. I was happy to do so and one of the little ones mounted Toothless to sit in front of me on the way back and began to cry when I tried moving him. I just accepted it as the little guy being nervous and since I shielded him from the blast he must've felt safe with me around.
After we got back to the Edge I went back to my island with both eruptadons and put them both in my volcano under the watchful eye of and Damen but when I tried to leave the one who flew with me and Toothless began to whine and follow me. I knew the little guy wanted to be with me but I was worried about him so just to be safe I had Slasher, Coal and Gnaw come with us with strict orders not to let anything happen to him. They all growled as if they were promising me they'd do their best to protect the little guy. When we got back to the Edge I gave Coal the order to keep the little guys hunger satiated to which he just spat out some lava into the little guys mouth. I then began trying to figure out where the next attack would be by thinking like Ryker and came to the decision that the next one of my allies he'd attack would be the Outcasts. My dragons and I flew to the 'straits of bulder' and stood guard since the hunters wouldn't be able to access the archipelago without crossing through this route. We waited there for an hour with our guard up when we saw a hunter's ship with Ryker surprisingly waving a white flag. When I confronted him, I had my star sword out as my dragons surrounded him while I questioned him as he claimed Viggo was the one who'd gone rogue while he was the one with the dragon eye lenses. He also said Viggo was setting me up but before I could question him about it I heard the familiar blasts in the distance and saw the explosions on Berserker island. I immediately mounted Toothless to go help them as Ryker told me that if I bring him Viggo he'd give me the lenses before we took off. As we flew there Dagur and Heather met us in the middle claiming it came out of nowhere. I sent my dragons to help them evacuate everyone they could while I went to deal with the hunters to see what their weapon was. When I found them, I was both shocked and horrified to discover what project shellfire was. My thoughts flashed back to that thing they were making that the twins stole the plans to and now I saw it wasn't something to capture a shellfire but a ship tied to the back of a titan-wing shellfire that was launching the exploding projectiles. Before I could do anything though the hunters noticed me and got into the ship before the shellfire began to dive while I flew back to Berserker island to get both my dragons along with Dagur and Heather. When we got back to the edge we began to discuss what to do now while I did my best to comfort Dagur and Heather who were depressed with the destruction of their island but they were able to get most of their people out.
When that was done I needed to be alone to do some thinking and left with Toothless for a cliff-side that overlooked the ocean. It was there Viggo made a reappearance while claiming he was a man of his word. He then said exactly what Ryker told me and claimed that Rykers offer of peace or the dragon eye lenses wasn't real as he wasn't truly willing or able to give me either. He then repeated his offer of me helping him stop his brother and he'd give me the lenses in the same way Ryker did, almost to the word. Viggo then mentioned how Ryker was unable to provide proof of his claims to which I challenged Viggo to provide proof. He pulled out a bag that held four-dragon eye lenses before he asked when Ryker would be arriving to which I replied would be in the morning. He then claimed that whatever we were going to do we'd have to do it together to which I reluctantly agreed before he gave me the lenses.
When we arrived back at the edge I had Dagur and Heather lock him in one of the dragon pens since I couldn't take any chances with him. He told me to reconsider but right now there was too much bad blood between us for me to trust him before I ordered Angel and Phantom to guard him. They both nodded and glared at him as they growled while Me, Dagur and Heather walked out to begin strategizing along with giving me time to call in more of my other dragons since I had the feeling I was going to need them. I ended up spending my entire night up preparing for the coming battle doing things such as bringing in some of my dragons, getting their armor on, preparing my defenses, enforcing my buildings with gronkle iron, going over plans with Heather and Dagur and much more. I'd also brought the dragon eye out of my portal room to do some checking up on the lenses Viggo gave me. I wanted to make sure they were real and not just fakes he was using to earn my trust and I am both shocked and happy to say they were all real but for now I had to focus on the hunters and not the information the eyes had.
This brings us to where I am now which is on my island with the dragons I had since there were others back on the island to help keep it running should something happen to me. The dragons I had consisted of the ones I brought with to take on the hunters originally along with Saber, Bandit, Greta, Bones, Reaper, Opal, Sear, Scorch, Bellows, Longshot and the other shadow wings. I hoped they'd be enough to help take down the ships since they were some of my top dragons. Back on the island Damen and Volcana were needed to protect the baby eruptadon who was there and while I couldn't bring Glacia through the arch since she was far too big she's swimming to the edge and will hopefully be here by afternoon but I hoped not to reveal her. As for the baby eruptadon that was still on the island I had Coal, Slasher and Gnaw take the little guy to the far side of the island where it'd be safer with orders to watch over it. I would've taken it back to my island but when I tried to do that it would try and follow me when I leave. I looked at all my dragons who were all wearing their armor ready for a fight while I looked down at the satchel I had which contained the dragon eye since if I were shot down they'd be taking it down with me. I didn't want to risk the chance of the dragon eye falling into their hands since if it did hundreds of dragons would be enslaved or slaughtered. For the fight I'd grabbed everyone of my weapons from the gods and this time I wasn't storing any of my spirit arrows in my prosthetic since I was now wearing the quiver on my back. I looked out at the ocean and saw multiple small hunter ships all armed with crossbows, dragonroot arrow launchers and more. It was then the Shellfire rose from the water behind the ships and using my eagle eye I was able to get a view of Ryker leaving the ship through the upper parts door. Soon after he left the shellfire began firing and we were forced to take cover for the time being until we could think of a new plan. I was able to make it to my main observation building at the back where Heather was waiting for me since Dagur was keeping an eye on Viggo. It was then Dagur ran in and asked.
"Is everyone okay?" I replied.
"We're fine Dagur."
"Good because I don't want to go through that again."
"I know Dagur but we need to think of a plan."
"Brother, we have dragons so we should be out there sinking those ships."
"But the fire isn't coming from the ships, it's coming from the shellfire." It was then much to my surprise Viggo walked in saying.
"I hate to be the one to say I told you so but-"
"How'd you get out?" Viggo put an arm around Dagur.
"My friend Dagur was kind enough to let me use the facilities." I glared at Dagur.
"Oh, was he now?" Dagur just began walking forward.
"Hey when you got to go you got to go am I right brother?" Before I could reply Viggo said.
"Hiccup you must allow me to assist you for the sake of us all." I raised an eyebrow. "The shellfires range is over a mile and Ryker is using ships, my ships to be exact to protect it." Heather then walked up behind me.
"Then we need to destroy the ships." I nodded before I turned to Dagur.
"Dagur get ready for a fight." He nodded and left while I turned to Heather. "Heather, put Viggo back in his cell and keep an eye on Viggo!" She nodded before I left to begin our attack on the hunters with me leading my dragons in on Toothless and when we got close I turned to my dragons. "Slow them down and move on, watch out for each other and if they fire at you fire back until you either disarm them or sink their ship." It was then three arrows and a boulder was launched at us. "LOOK OUT!"
We dodged out of the way before Violet returned fire with her magnesium blast followed by some of her spines. I took out my crystal spear as we flew in low and held out the crystal end so it could scrape the hulls. I ran it across the hulls of one of the ships armed with a catapult before large crystals formed breaking through the hull and sinking the ship. I ducked underneath three arrows that were fired at me before Greta slammed into the ship sinking it. I collapsed my spear and let it be pulled back into my arm before releasing my spirit bow and preparing a fire arrow. I saw a ship with three archers aiming for Scardian and let it fly into their hull, which quickly caught fire forcing the men to abandon ship. I then saw two ships get hit from above with some very powerful fire blast and looked up to see Sear was the one who launched them. I smiled up at him before I Bones flew down and picked up one of the ships before dropping it on its side. I then readied one of my water arrows and fired it into the water between two ships creating a whirlpool sucking them both in but the hunters soon surfaced gasping for air. I just glared at them as Toothless let loose a plasma blast at a nearby ships catapult destroying it before we took to higher altitudes so I could aim at more ships. It was as we flew up we had to dodge one of the shellfire's blasts. I looked down and using my eagle eye I was able to discover why it was attacking us since a tidal class doesn't just attack for no reason. There were hunters on board walks on the side of the dragon proof ship hitting the shellfires shell with hammers like the ones that were used to control the quakens from a while back. Seeing this made me all the more eager to take down the hunters but I couldn't stop them without risking the injury of the shellfire and Ryker knew this. It was then I saw another blast go flying towards the island before I saw the stable was on fire so I turned to my dragons and signaled them to retreat for now since we'd succeeded in taking down a lot of their ships. When we reached the stable I found Heather walking out the doors coughing from all the smoke. As she used Windshear to support her I ran up to her and asked.
"Are you alright?" She just coughed and nodded.
"Viggo's still inside." Hearing this I ran inside to his cell as he coughed before I unlocked the chains holding his cell closed and threw his arm around my shoulder to help him out as he asked.
"Hiccup, you came all the way back to rescue me?" He coughed. "I'm honored." I began leading him outside.
"Don't be since if I left you here to die I'd be no better than you." When we got outside I let him go and saw Heather still coughing. "Heather head to the dome and get some rest since right now you're in no position to fight." She nodded as I turned to Windshear. "Make sure she doesn't do anything stupid." She nodded as Heather mounted her and they took off before Viggo said.
"Very noble Hiccup and you'll be glad you returned, I can help if you'll let me." I was on Toothless and turned to him.
"How're you going to help?"
"I can advise you on defeating my brother and stopping the shellfire."
"Oh, and do you have that all figured out?"
"As luck would have it I do." I thought about it for a moment then sighed and offered my hand to him before helping him onto Toothless as we took off.
"So, what's the plan?"
"Do you still have my submaripper that you took from me?" I glared back at him.
"Three things Viggo!" I raised three fingers. "One his name Shipsbane, two I didn't take him from you I freed him from you and three you even think of calling him yours again then I will drag you to Egypt and have you mummified alive."
"I'll take that as a yes and is he nearby?"
"Why?"
"You'll see Hiccup if you take us to where he is." I nodded and began to fly to where Shipsbane was guarding for any enemy ships that tried to attack the base head on but as we flew Viggo asked. "You know there's word of a tournament being hosted by the tribe of the whispering trees." I wasn't interested so I sarcastically replied.
"Yeah is that right?"
"Maces and Talons, the winner apparently receives a life size game set made of solid gold."
"Oh well lucky him."
"Poor dear Hiccup, relationships can be difficult am I right." I just glared back at him. "And while I cannot put myself directly in your shoes I can most surely emphasize with your situation."
"What situation?"
"Oh, please you really think I wouldn't hear about the problems you have with your love life."
"I don't have any issues as I currently don't have a love life."
"Understandable since with your status and from what I've heard your possible fortune it's hard to find a girl who likes you for just you make seeking out a woman to share a life with very vexing." Having enough of this I turned back.
"You know what's vexing Viggo?" I glared at him. "You see I am focused, clear, decisive and what I am not is your friend, ally or your Maces and Talons buddy so let's leave our personal lives out of this and just get down to business."
"I was only trying to help." I pulled Toothless to stop.
"Then tell me why Shipsbane is needed since we're right above him now."
"Can you summon him from under the water?" I took out a single dagger and dropped it into the water before bubbles began to rise to the surface and I yelled.
"SHIPSBANE!" When he surfaced he looked at me wondering what was wrong.
"Direct its attention to the shellfire and then just watch as nature takes place." I didn't understand what Viggo meant but I directed Shipsbane to the shellfire before he let out a feral growl and submerged himself. "Let's get back to the shellfire Hiccup as I doubt you'll want to miss this." I just glared at him and steered Toothless towards the Shellfire that was about to release another round of blasts but before it could Shipsbane slammed out from underneath it and began fighting it.
"How'd you know he'd react like this to the shellfire?"
"Hiccup the submaripper is the natural and hated enemy of the shellfire which is a little fact I kept in my tunic for a day just like this." I turned back and cocked an eyebrow. "The dragon eye may've been lost to my people but some of its secrets were kept and passed down from generation to generation."
"Understandable and while the shellfire is wrapped up with Shipsbane me and my dragons can take care of the rest of the ships." I took out a horn I had with me and blew into it to summon my dragons to battle, which they happily answered but when I stopped blowing we had to dodge out of one of the submarippers blasts. "Okay that was way too close." I turned back to Viggo. "We're going to have to drop you off Viggo, you're slowing us down."
"Pity, I was going to enjoy watching Ryker go down with the ship." When we landed he dismounted before putting his hands behind his back. "We may be adversaries Hiccup, but my respect for you is far beyond what I can put into words." I gave a nod before we took off and found Dagur on the beach riding the wild triplestrike but when he saw me he yelled.
"BROTHER!"
"Made a new friend huh?"
"Seems so!" He leaned forward. "Don't you just love the tails and that snapping sound, gives me goosies." He ducked under a spear as two hunters charged at Toothless and me but he just blasted them back with a plasma blast and took off sinking the ships while Dagur and the triplestrike dealt with the men on the beach before me and Toothless came back from sinking the ships.
"That's the last of them."
"Well done brother!" The ground the shook and I saw the volcano was acting up.
"Get Shattermaster back to the edge and send for Gobber, he can help."
"Where are you going?"
"To make sure a baby eruptadon and the dragons guarding it are alright, go brother, your dragon needs you."
As we flew I turned back to the battle on the sea and smiled at the sight of Shipsbane knocking the shellfire back and dislodging the ship from its back with Ryker on it. When it was off Shipsbane began creating a whirlpool that began pulling in all the shipwrecks as the shellfire began to back up. When we reached the top, I saw the baby eruptadon with Slasher, Coal and Gnaw surrounding it with the volcano looking to be stable. I sighed in relief and said.
"I was worried about you guys." They all growled as the baby ran up and nuzzled my legs as I smiled and kneeled down before petting it. "Looks like this nightmare is finally over." A voice then said.
"Are you sure about that Hiccup." I looked behind me towards the lava and saw Windshear with Viggo on her back with Heather as he held her with her own axe at her neck.
"Viggo!" I glared at him. "Let me guess, you want the dragon eye in exchange for Heather."
"Oh, it sounds so much colder when you say it like that but yes." I glared at him. "While I do appreciate your assistance in putting my brother back in his rightful place I must insist that you return it to where it belongs, with me." I pulled the dragon eye out of my satchel I looked down at it. "I can understand how difficult a decision this is but are you really going to sacrifice your sister for it.?" I began chuckling "And what may I ask is so funny?"
"You making it sound like this old thing actually truly matters." I looked up and smiled. "Viggo when I found the man who stole it I also found instructions on how to make it." I enjoyed the shocked look on his face. "So, in other words I can make more easily so if you want this thing so bad." I pulled my arm back. "GO AND GET IT!" I tossed it over his head and he let go of Heather before running for it but it went over the edge and into the lava with Viggo looking down until he turned to glare at me before the ground beneath him gave way and he fell.
"HICCUP!" I ran to the edge to see if he had grabbed a ledge yelling.
"VIGGO!" I looked over the edge but all I saw was lava and shook my head. "It didn't have to end this way Viggo." Heather walked up behind me.
"Are you okay?" I nodded.
"I'll be fine."
"It's finally over." She looked at me. "It is over right?"
"Yeah I think it is." A roar from behind us broke me out of my thoughts and I turned to see Shipsbane still going at it with the shellfire.
"So, what do we do about those two since I doubt it'll be easy to stop them?" I saw something in the distance and with my Eagle eye I saw it was Glacia fast approaching bringing a smile to my face.
"You just go and check up on our brother and I'll take care of it since it seems the answer is on its way." She stared at me for a moment before sighing.
"If there's two things I've learned it's that you are a true mystery Hiccup Haddock and in these situations it's best not to ask." I nodded as she mounted Windshear and took off to look after Dagur before I mounted Toothless.
"Let's go deal with the two feuding dragons bud."
He crooned before we took off only stopping at my hut for my flute to hopefully calm them both down enough for Glacia to take command. We hovered between the two feuding dragons who didn't take notice of us until I began playing the flute. They both looked up at me as they breathed heavily while I just continued to calmly play my flute trying to keep them both calm as Glacia got closer. I didn't stop playing until Glacia was right in front of them and growled to let her presence be known before they both turned to face her and bowed their heads at the sight of her since she was bigger than the both of them. I had Toothless take me to land on her head and looked at the both of them before I yelled.
"IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY WITH YOU TWO FIGHTING!" They both stared at me. "YOU'VE BOTH BEEN CAPTURED AND USED BY THE DRAGON HUNTERS BUT IT'S OVER NOW AS IS THIS FIGHT BETWEEN YOU TWO!" I turned to Shipsbane. "SHIPSBANE, I FREED YOU FROM THE CHAINS THAT BOUND YOU AND BROUGHT YOU UNDER BOTH MIND AND GLACIA'S PROTECTION SO YOU'D BE SAFE AND THE LAST THING I WANT TO SEE IS YOU GET HURT IN SOME RIDICULOUS FIGHT!" He lowered his head into the water and looked down as I turned to the shellfire. "AS FOR YOU, WHEN THE HUNTERS SAW YOU THEY SAW NOTHING BUT A WEAPON TO BE USED AGAINST THEIR ENEMIES BUT I SEE A MAGNIFICENT CREATURE THAT DESERVES A SAFE HOME WHICH ME AND GLACIA CAN PROVIDE IF YOU'LL GIVE US A CHANCE!" I had Toothless fly up to the shellfire. "Just give us a chance an you won't regret it." I held out my hand past Toothless' head and felt the shellfire's breath as I turned away before I waited for two minutes but to me it felt like an eternity before I felt its muzzle against my hand as I turned and smiled. "I'm glad you've accepted us but I can't promise there won't be times where I'll need you to fight but I hope those times will be rare but, in the meantime, you can rest here for the night before Glacia takes you and Shipsbane back to the nest." It growled as before it sunk beneath the waves to rest with Shipsbane following him while I turned to Glacia. "Keep an eye on them girl since they might try to fight each other again." She nodded before diving below the waves while I looked down at Toothless. "Let's get back to the edge bud." He crooned and nodded.
AN: And that's another season over and done with and I hope you all enjoyed the chapter and remember to review. Rest assured I have plans for the Shellfire but if you have any ideas for the shellfires name please let me know since the name I came up with is given to guns that have yet to be invented. Well till next time I hope you all have nice days and I will see you all next time.
