Chapter 92

Hiccups POV:

It's been ten minutes since this spider thing caught me and I had yet to stop insulting myself for letting my guard down and allowing this thing to capture me. On the bright side though, the spider had left both my eyes uncovered so I was still able to see what was going on around me and study the spider that was crawling around the web my cocoon was stuck on. It was also because of this I found both Kapula and the search party together all unharmed but like me they were all cocooned except they had all regained their ability to move around if their wiggling cocoons were anything to go by. There was however one cocoon that got my attention though since the spider kept staring at it every few seconds as if looking at it for answers on something only to receive yells from within before it hissed and continued walking. It wasn't that hard to figure out that cocoon held Kapula and that spider wanted to know where the Heiau was so it could get the piece. From watching the spider, I could tell it was the size of a quaken, had eight orange legs, what looked to be an orange mask like pattern on the back of its web sack with red eyes that seemed to be glowing but the thing that caught my attention the most was the glowing purple crystal in the middle of its eyes. I don't know why but there was just something about the crystal that seemed interesting in some way.

It was at that moment when I was once again able to feel my limbs and after testing them to see if I could move them again a smile came to my face since now that I could move again it was payback time. First thing I had to do though was think of a suitable battle plan and decide what weapon to use against this beast. I then noticed it was beginning to drool what looked like some kind of orange acid that burnt through a piece of wood on the web as it stared at a struggling member of the search party. I knew this meant I had to hurry before this thing got hungry enough to turn one of us into its meal. The acid of course was all the more reason for me to do my best to stay clear of the mouth with its paralyzing breath and this is when it hit me. It would be best for me to use my crystal spear to fight this thing while keeping my distance from this thing so it wouldn't be able to hit me with its paralyzing breath. However, before I could do that I needed to get out of this cocoon and smiled as I released my starsword that immediately cut through the webbing in front of me. I then lifted it up cutting the front of my cocoon open allowing me to hop out but it also gained the attention of the spider that turned to face me as I glared at it and said.

"Congrats on being able to get the drop on me but in doing so you also succeeded in annoying me you overgrown freak."

It let out a hiss and charged at me but I jumped off the web and used my sword to stab into a tree to slow down my decent until I reached the ground. I heard a roar from above and looked up to see the spider glaring down at me as I put my starsword away and release my crystal spear in its place. The spider launched its webbing down at me but I dodged out of the ways while getting my scimitar throwing knives out. When the webbing missed it spat out a stream of its acid that I was easily able to dodge but it kept coming at me so I ran from the pouring stream that melted anything that it fell sprayed onto. As it sprayed though I took my scimitar throwing and readied them before I tossed them up at the spider one by one each hitting their desired target. The target I was aiming for however wasn't the spider but the webbing it was standing on which were now severed causing the spider to fall to the ground where I knew I had a chance at beating it.

It shook its head showing it was a bit dizzy from the fall and since I was at its side I took the opportunity to try and stab it with my spear but it stepped to the side avoiding my strike as if it knew the strike was coming. I wasn't able to think about it for long since the spider then turned to me and sprayed its paralyzing breath towards me but I held my breath and used my spear to pole vault onto the spiders' web sack. Before I could do anything however it tossed its web sack up throwing me off and landing me behind it. I took this opportunity to try and stab it but the spider jumped out of the way as I growled while muttering about how it was as if this spider could see everything around it. That's when an idea on how to deal with this spider came to my mind but before I could think of a way to put my plan into action I had to step out of the way of a strand of the webbing that was fired at me. I used the blade of my spear to sever the webbing and showing the spider it missed before it pounced down towards me but I tuck and rolled out of the way of the spiders' pounce with me facing its side. I then brought my spear down to make it look like I was about to strike it and as expected it jumped to the side to avoid the strike but I expected this to happen and used the crystal end of my spear which slammed into the ground. As expected crystals burst out of the ground surprising the spider but as they sprouted out I dug the crystal end into the ground a bit deeper making the crystals grow larger. When they reached the spider, they knocked it onto its back as I ran and used my spear to pole vault onto its middle and raised my spear high before stabbing the head right into the center of the part with the legs. The spider screeched in pain and tried to reach me with its legs for a few seconds as I pushed my spear in deeper while holding on tight to avoid falling off the spider.

When the struggling stopped the spider turned to black dust beneath my feet making me fall to the ground but I landed on my feet as I noticed all that was left of the spider were its pincers and the crystal that was in between its eyes. I walked up and used my prosthetic to pick up the crystal that was around the size of my eye along with the fangs before putting them into my satchel as trophies from this fight. I then looked up at the people who are still struggling in their cocoons on the web and sighed before saying.

"Better get the men down from there and get them back to the village for an explanation as to what happened to them."

I used my scimitar throwing knives to cut their cocoons down and caught them when they fell to the ground before moving onto the next. Once they were all cut free I began cutting open their cocoons using one of my knives since I didn't want to risk hurting the men inside the cocoon. I freed Kapula first who looked at me terrified until I showed him my shell necklace and he saw I wasn't going to hurt him he calmed down but kept his eyes on me as I freed the remaining men who had a similar reaction to Kapula until he pointed out the shell necklace I was wearing. Soon enough we were on our way back to the village where the men could tell everyone what happened to them.

Half an hour later

We'd just arrived back in the village where we received a warm welcome from the people with some of the children and women running to greet the men from the search party. It wasn't that hard to figure out they were the men's family who were happy that their fathers or husbands were back safely. I however was just greeted by Toothless who nuzzled my chest while I smiled and rubbed his head and scratched his chin. Kapula walked up to Kali and spoke to him in their native tongue occasionally pointing at me to while saying some things while Kali nodded. When they were done Kali smiled and walked up to me before placing his hands on my shoulders and saying.

"Thank you for saving the lives of both my tribes shaman Kapula and my men who I sent looking for him."

"You're welcome but I would've done it for anyone even without my need to know the location of the heiau so I can get the piece of the seal I came for."

"And for that I thank you and ask that you spend the night here in the village so we can celebrate your heroic act."

"I appreciate the thought but I couldn't intrude so if I can just get the seal piece then we'll be on our way."

"No, I insist as you will need the rest to get to the next island and besides from what I understand you have yet to learn our language so you staying will give you a chance to at the very least learn the basics." I nodded.

"Alright I accept but first I'm going to need to get the piece for the seal before anything else shows up to try and claim it." He nodded before walking up to Kapula and saying a few things in Hawaiian before Kapula nodded and turned to walk over to me with Kali who said.

"Kapula has agreed to take you to the heiau where the piece can be found but asks that you allow it till this afternoon so he can emotionally recover from the attack." I nodded.

"I'm fine with waiting as long as it's done before the end of the day."

"Splendid and in the meantime, we can begin your lessons but first I have duties I need to tend to."

"I can understand that so would it be alright if me and Toothless explored your village while I wait."

"You are more than welcome to do so Hiccup." I smiled before he walked off to do his duties while me and Toothless walked around to explore the village.

Afternoon

We were walking through the dense brush with Kapula leading the way through the thick foliage that covered the way to the heiau. When we got there, I found it to be a small clearing with several stone tiki statues all facing a stone alter where the piece of the seal lay resting. I walked up to the altar and picked up the piece and noticed the engravings were different to the one I had in my satchel. I picked it up before much to my surprise it began shaking and gave out a yellow glow while my satchel began to shake and give out the same glow from the inside. I opened my satchel up to find the piece I had was the thing that was vibrating and giving out the glow before it then flew out of my hand and connected with the other piece. The crack between the two glowed a blinding yellow to the point where I couldn't stand to look at it without being blinded by how bright it was. When the light dimmed I opened my eyes and saw the seal pieces were completely merged as if they were never separated in the first place. I smiled and put it back in my satchel and smiled at Kapula before saying.

"Thank you for your help." In Hawaiian since those were some of the few words I was able to learn in the short time I had my lessons.

"You're welcome." We then made our way back to the village.

Morning

When morning came I found myself standing on the beach next to Toothless enjoying the sunrise as the orange light reflected on the water with the waves crashing down. I looked forward to the day I would be able to enjoy this sight without the need to worry about any monsters being released upon these islands. Then I'd be able to learn the language, the customs, their way of life and maybe how to ride the waves with a board, which is a sport, they called surfing. I looked back at the village, which consisted mostly of grass huts, a few palm trees, a large fire pit in the center and a large gazebo in the back for the people to hold meetings. I sighed knowing I'd have to come back to visit this place for a vacation sometime in the future. I then heard footsteps behind me and turned around to see Kali walking up to me with a smiling face as he said.

"I take it you came out here to enjoy the sunrise as well?" I turned to face the sunrise.

"What can I say other than it's a beautiful way to greet the morning?"

"I know the feeling but I take it you'll be on your way to Oahu soon."

"I need all five pieces of the seal to shut the entrance to the monster realm and make sure no more of them are able to escape."

"Your drive to stop the forces of darkness is truly inspiring Hiccup and know that should you need help you have but to ask."

"I'll keep that in mind but in these times, I find it best not to involve the innocent as it may cost them their lives."

"The words of a true hero Hiccup but remember my offer will remain standing."

"Thanks, but you've done enough for me already with helping me learn the basics of your language and giving me shelter for the night."

"You are welcome but be assured that should you succeed in your quest then I doubt there'll be any tribe in our lands that would turn you down." He then gave me a smile that I didn't like. "And I doubt any girl whose heart has yet to be claimed would turn down a date with you." I blushed at this.

"Please don't go there I've already got enough trouble with the girls of other lands."

"Oh, so in addition to being a hero you're also quite the lady's man." I turned to him.

"If you had a long blond moustache, a peg leg, a missing hand, a bigger belly and smelt so bad you could scare off a dragon you could be my blacksmithing mentor Gobber." He raised an eyebrow.

"Sounds like an interesting man to have for a mentor."

"He is but growing up he was one of the few people who bothered being nice to me."

"What do you mean?"

"Let's just say I haven't always been this strong and growing up was a runt."

"You'll have to tell me about your journey to become this strong sometime."

"Maybe after I've sealed up the opening to the realm of monsters." He nodded. "I better get going to Oahu before any monster gets there to claim the seal piece."

"I wish you luck on this adventure Hiccup and may our gods watch over you in your future battles." I nodded before I mounted Toothless and took off.

1 hour later

We'd been flying for an hour now and I had to say I was enjoying it since it was nice to get a little peace after a day with a near death experience. I know I should be taking it easy since we only spend one night on an island before taking off but the gate that leads to this lands monster realm so chances are every moment I waste is a chance for more monsters to crawl out meaning more innocent lives were put at risk. With this knowledge I couldn't just sit around doing nothing with good people being terrorized by creatures of destruction so I wasn't going to stop until the entrance was sealed and the remaining monsters killed. Then I'd kick back and enjoy my remaining time here but it was then a something I'd been wondering came to my mind and that is who opened up and destroyed the seal in the first place. I was brought out of my thoughts when Oahu came into view bringing a smile to my face as I said.

"Time to find another seal piece but hopefully this one won't have a monster after it." He growled and nodded at this.

Nightfall

I was lying down against Toothless looking up at the stars that shone bright in the sky which were only outshined by the light of the moon. As I looked at the stars I went over what had happened today after I first arrived. We landed outside the village since we didn't want to spook anyone before we met their chief Keone who had his hair cut on the sides and tied back with a shell necklace that had a shark tooth in the middle. He wanted to know if we were a threat. When he saw the shell necklace around my neck though he knew I was a friend however he was still curious to know what I was doing on his island. I told him about me coming to collect a piece of the seal and how I needed the help of their village shaman but he told me it would have to wait as their village shaman Makaio was tending to multiple people who had fallen to some sort of illness that had befallen his tribe recently. He showed me to where the ill were being treated and I had to say it did not look good with their skin being incredibly pail, there were bags under their eyes, they were all coughing and sweating so much it was like the scourge of Odin all over again. I left Makaio to his work since the lives of these people looked to be in major danger with the sickness. I ended up spending my day practicing with my weapons so if a monster did appear I'd be ready to face it and I am happy to say I wasn't bothered by the locals who were either too worried about their loved ones or I am sad to say looked too afraid of me because of the weapons I wielded.

I let out a sigh hating the fact that I was feared when all I really wanted was to just be accepted by the people so they wouldn't be afraid to let me help them when needed. It was then the sound of somebody screaming echoed through the skies with what sounded like a loud screech. I used my eagle eye to look up at where the scream came from and saw a man falling from the sky after being dropped by what looked to be a giant bat with large claws, fangs and eyes that were glowing red. I quickly mounted Toothless and yelled.

"FULL SPEED AHEAD BUD BEFORE THAT GUY HITS THE GROUND!"

He growled and nodded before we sped towards the falling man and we were able to fly beneath him making him land behind me revealing him to be Makaio who was white as a sheet but who could blame him. He stared at me in shock as the bat which I now saw was the size of a titan wing monstrous nightmare let out a roar of anger towards us and turned back to him as I told him to hold on in Hawaiian. He did so as we dived down with the bat following us as I looked back and saw its glowing red eyes with slit pupils glaring at me before we pulled up in an attempt to out maneuver it. Sadly, when we pulled up it did the same just as easily and was actually able to speed up a bit so it was able to get a little closer to us making me a little more worried. Toothless did a flip to launch two plasma blasts at the bat. Each one hit it with no problem but all it seemed to do is make it angrier. We flew down towards the island hoping to out maneuver it through the trees but while we flew around them the bat just breathed some sort of black smoke at them and they withered away. I knew I couldn't risk destroying more of the vegetation since it might spread killing their crops so we took to the sky with the bat following after us screeching in anger.

I was beginning to wonder if anything could kill this thing until an idea came to my mind but it was definitely going to be one of the riskiest things I've ever done before. I told Toothless the plan and he was not the least bit happy about it but this might be our only chance to beat this thing so he went along with it. We took off flying straight up into the sky and as expected the bat followed after us before we leveled out with the bat still flying after us at a lower altitude making me smile as I unclipped my harness that held me onto the saddle and jumped off with Makaio screaming at the sight. I dived straight towards the bat beneath us and was able to land on its back before I grabbed onto its fur to avoid falling off. I screeched and stopped following Toothless in favor of hovering and trying to shake me off its back but I held on tight and began climbing towards the head. When I reached the head, I placed my prosthetic hand on its face and channeled a blue crystal sending lightning into the bats skull as it screeched in pain while breathing out that black smoke from before which blasted into my face. It was then I started coughing and felt myself getting weaker before I noticed my real hand becoming paler and realized this bat was causing the sickness and it had just given the sickness to me.

Knowing I needed to act fast I released my starsword in its hilt form and pressed it against the head before releasing the blade resulting in it stabbing into the head. The bat let out a screech that was so loud I almost covered my ears but I held on and knew when this was over my ears would be ringing but it was then I felt like something was draining out of me. I expected myself to feel weaker at this but surprisingly I felt myself regaining my strength and then noticed the black smoke from before was flowing into the mouth of the bat. It wasn't just coming from me though but also from the island where I saw the trees and plants that were destroyed were being restored and the hut where they were keeping the ill. I felt the fur below loosen and looked down to see the bat was turning to dust beneath me and took it as my signal to let go and released the fur as the bat begun to plunge down towards the ground. I was glad I put my dragonfly two on the back of all my armor and used it to begin gliding down towards the village. I watched as the bat that was now nothing but a skeleton came to crash down on the beach in front of the village while everyone came out to investigate what was going on. They all came to examine the skeleton as Toothless came to land in front of it with Makaio quickly getting off Toothless and collapsing onto the ground. I was worried at first until he got up and quickly crawled to the forming crowd just as I came in for a running landing. Everyone stared at me before Makaio walked up while chanting mahalo, which I knew, meant thank you in Hawaiian. When he reached me, he pulled me into a hug while he continued chanting until Keone pulled him off while asking.

"What in the world happened and how were you able to fly?"

"Long story and it's actually gliding."

"Start talking."

Morning

Last night was quite a long night since I had to spend it not only telling Keone everything that happened but also explaining dragonfly two worked. After that came all the pats on the back, handshakes and chanting of my name by the locals who were happy that not only was their shaman safe but their ill were now walking around healthy as before. After that I had the tough time convincing Keone not to throw a luau in my honor since I'd seen their food supplies and they were low. Another reason is I didn't want to celebrate till I was able to gather the remaining pieces of the seal and shut up the way to the realm of monsters. Only when this was done would I allow a celebration in my honor to be held. Once I was able to make Keone understand this I was able to get Makaio to take me to the heiau where I could find the next piece of the seal. The heiau that held this one had a stone path leading to the altar with stone tiki's on either side of the path facing in and once I got the seal piece things went as they did last time with the piece merging with the other two forming one disc that was shaping up to be around the size of my head. I didn't know how it would seal up the way to the realm of monsters but I knew from past experiences not to question how magic works and just go with it. I would've taken the skeleton of the bat as a trophy but decided to keep what I was carrying light and told Keone that I'd be back for the skull another time. Now I was flying over the ocean once more flying to the island of Maui to pick up the fourth piece of the seal hopefully before any monster gets to the island before me but knowing my luck it would already be there trying to find the piece.

3 hours later

It's been two and a half hours since we arrived on the island and in that time not much has happened other than their village chief Makoa coming to meet me and wishing to know why I'd come to the island. I answered him and showed him the three pieces of the seal I'd already gathered from the past islands. When I told him everything I knew about the realm of monsters being opened he was quick to summon the tribe's shaman and ordered him to lead me to the heiau and after looking around at the people I could understand why. Some of them looked like they hadn't eaten in a while since with the realm of monsters opened their crops were going bad and the fish had fled. I learnt this from a talk I had with Makaio back on Oahu with Keone translating who explained that the land knew of the realm of monsters being opened and it was showing it. This brings us to where I am now and that is making my way through the thick plants with the local shaman named Maleko leading me to the heiau but it felt as if we were being watched however when I looked around nobody was there. I decided it was probably just, me being paranoid and continued to follow Maleko.

It was then we broke through the brush to find a circle shaped a stone tiled floor that had an altar in the center holding the piece I came for along with multiple tiki's sitting down on the edges of the circle surrounding it. Maleko stayed behind as I walked up to the alter and grabbed the piece before merging it with the other two pieces forming a full disc but I could tell something was missing from the circular indent in the middle. Once I put the disc back into my satchel I turned back to talk with Maleko but he wasn't there. I didn't like the sight of this so I unfolded my eagle shield and held it in front of me to be safe. I walked to the edge of the stones before a large troop of some kind of monkeys showed up but they looked sick to the point where I could see their skeletons. It was then a creature with limbs that were covered in fur and looked to be wearing a mask with fur coming out from behind the edges and a glowing pink face painted on it walked out of the bushes. (AN: Google Moana sloth monster and picture the image that comes up.) The thing that caught my attention though was that it was holding Maleko from behind and looked to be staring at my satchel. Before I could react however it pointed at me and let out a howl that reminded of the howler monkeys back in the Mayan jungle only for the monkeys to then screech and charge at me.

I smashed one to the side into another one before one jumped onto my shoulder and tried to scratch my arm but since it was my prosthetic so it didn't do anything. I grabbed it by the neck and threw it at a monkey who was jumping towards me tossing them both back as I released one of my scimitar-throwing knives and threw it towards the masked creature nailing it in the arm that was holding Maleko making it screech in pain and let Maleko go as I yelled at him to run which he was all too happy to do. While he ran I used my prosthetic to swat aside another monkey and duck underneath one that tried to go for my face only for it to land behind me before I stamped down on it. I turned to the masked creature and figured if I could take it down then this would end so I tossed a scimitar-throwing knife at it but it jumped behind a tree dodging it before I had to use my shield to swat another monkey to the side. I knew if I was going to beat this thing I'd need to get it away from the cover of the trees. After I grabbed another monkey by the face and slamming it to the ground I launched my prosthetic at the masked creature and was luckily able to grab onto its right arm. It grabbed onto the chain and tried to pull me towards it but I activated a red crystal heating up the chains and hand making it screech in pain as I pulled the chain back and with it the masked creature that struggled against it.

I swung it out of the trees and onto the tiles where I knew I'd have a chance at beating it but before I could the gaps between tiles below it began to glow. Next thing I know that glow encompassed the tiki statues that much to my surprise they stood up and began walking towards the monster as I reeled my prosthetic hand back into the socket. I'm not sure why but the masked creature looked as if it were trying to free its feet from something on the floor that was holding it there. When the tiki's reached it I'm not sure what happened since they were blocking my view and all I heard was a horrific screech and then silence before multiple screeches followed from behind me. I turned to see the remaining monkeys turning to nothing but dust on the ground until I heard the sound of stone moving once more. I turned to see the tiki's were walking back to their original positions before sitting back down the way they originally were. I stared at the statues for a few seconds before I shrugged and said.

"Stranger things have happened to me in my life." I then looked at the spot where the tiki's attacked and saw the mask as the only thing left of the monster so I walked up and after picking it up and examining it I shrugged. "It'll make a nice trophy." I then began my walk back to the village since I had the feeling that when I got back I was going to have a lot of explaining to do.

Morning

As expected when I got back to the village yesterday I had to explain to Makoa what happened back at the heiau since apparently all he got from Maleko was a bunch of rambling from fear. Explaining to Makoa wasn't that difficult but getting a grateful and babbling Maleko to let go of me was difficult. After that they were kind enough to give me a meal from what little food they still had and a hut for the night. Earlier this morning I took off on Toothless to the final island where I knew I'd be able to find the last piece of the seal but chances are I'd also find a monster to deal with. After an hour of flying we arrived on the sunny island of Hawaii where met by the locals who weren't having an easier time than the people of the other islands. Their chief Pika was all too happy to allow me the aid of their shaman Tua in finding the islands heiau, which brings us to where I am now, on top of the island's volcano, looking down at a red gem that would fit perfectly into the center of the seal after having Toothless take Tua back who was having trouble dealing with the heat and fumes being produced by the volcano. The heiau was place on the edge of the volcano looking down into the lava with two large tiki statues made from lava rock staring down at it. I picked up the gem and smiled before pulling out the seal that pulled the gem into the center before a red glow rushed through the cracks between the symbols while shaking in my hand. I smiled at it but knew I wouldn't be able to use it to seal up the realm of monsters until it showed me the way under the light of the full moon tonight, which is a fact I learnt from Maleko yesterday evening.

I smiled down at the now completed seal and put it back into my satchel letting out a sigh of relief knowing that this adventure was going to come to an end soon enough with the completion of the seal. I smiled before a roar behind me got my attention and my eyes widened at the sight of a large man like creature made of lava crawling out from the side of the volcano glaring at me. Before I could begin running the monster hopped up onto the solid ground and began spraying lava towards me but I held up my eagle shield to block it, which was a success, but sadly it didn't stop the heat so I ended up sweating. When the lava stopped I looked up only to jump back as the lava monster brought its fist, down on the spot where I was once standing before I ran to the other side of the volcano with the monster walking after me. When I was a good distance away I released my spirit bow and was glad two of the arrows in my prosthetic were a water and ice arrows. I took out a water arrow and let it loose nailing the lava monster in the arm hardening its arm. It let out a roar of anger before the hardened part began to crack up before it burst with lava. I groaned and loaded the ice arrow and fired it nailing the beast in the torso that turned black and hardened but it soon copied the actions of the arm and cracked up before bursting with lava.

Knowing my remaining arrow wouldn't be affective since it was a fire arrow I put my bow back and released my spear while keeping my shield ready. The monster charged at me raising its fist and tried to hit me but I stepped to the side dodging it before I stabbed my spear into its arm but it had no effect other than covering the end of my spear with lava. I pulled it back into my prosthetic as I raised my shield to block another stream of lava being blasted from the monsters' mouth as I began to feel the heat from the lava. It was then I remembered that I had a light blue crystal in my arm charged up by Berg and Shard and knew the crystal held their powerful blasts inside. This gave me an idea so as soon as the stream stopped I jumped back to avoid another strike before I reached up to my prosthetics shoulder, which released the crystal. I smiled down at the crystal in my hand before looking back up at the lava monster that was opening its mouth getting ready to let lose another stream of lava but before it could I tossed the crystal right into the mouth and watched as the crystal sunk into the lava as it began to glow. When it was fully sunk in the monster grabbed its chest as its body began to let out steam, as it roared in what I assume was pain before its lava slowly began to harden and turn black. When it finally stopped the monster looked to be little more than a statue made of lava rock. It was then I heard a familiar whistling sound and looked up to see Toothless as I smiled as he came in for a landing and said.

"What took you bud?" I pointed at the now statue. "You missed all the fun." He just growled and tilted his head before I mounted him and we took off to the village.

Nightfall

I was on the beach, mounted on Toothless, looking out at the ocean with the seal in my hands. I looked down at the seal and held it up to the full moon and felt it vibrate as it glowed red. Next thing I know it blasted a long red light out towards the ocean. I knew this light would lead me to the entrance to the realm of monsters so I looked down at Toothless and said.

"Follow the light bud." He let out a growl and we took off following the light with the seal constantly shining and lighting our way.

3 hours later

We finally came to a small piece of land with a large sea stack on it and it was at the top of this sea stack that the light was leading us to. When we got to the top we found a large pit that seemed bottomless in the center with four bridges that lead to a large platform in the middle. Once we landed I dismounted Toothless before signaling him to circle the platform for any threats and slowly walked over one of the bridges to the platform doing my best not to look down into the pit that leads the realm of monsters. When I reached the platform, I walked up to the center and found an indent in the shape of the seal on the ground. I took out the seal and got ready to put it into the slot and finally seal the way to the realm of monsters until a voice behind me said.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

I nearly dropped the seal in surprise and turned to see a bald man with his head, lower face and arms covered in tattoos wearing black and white patterned Hawaiian style clothing around his waist, shoulder pads that looked to be made of burned grass and a necklace with a single black gem in the shape of a ball in the center surrounded by shark teeth standing on the side of the volcano opposite to where me and Toothless landed. The gem however was the thing that caught my attention the most since it was pulsing as if it were alive. I saw the man was staring at me with a look I didn't like since it sent a shiver down my spine as I asked.

"Who are you?"

"I am the great shaman Lopaka and I already know all about you Hiccup Haddock."

"You seem to have me at a disadvantage since I've never heard of you before." He shrugged.

"As expected since people normally prefer to forget I ever existed out of fear and have mostly turned me into a scary story to scare little children."

"And why is it that people fear you?"

"Now there hangs a tale." He smiled as he crossed his arms. "I was once a simple islander learning to achieve my dream of becoming a shaman and my mentor always told me I was going to make a great shaman one day but all that changed one day when some of our cousins from Oahu joined our tribe and brought with them a new boy who also wished to be a shaman." He growled. "My mentor took him under his wing like he did me but now I was always left in the shadow of his new apprentice." He clenched his fists. "When it came time for him to choose one of us as his full apprentice he chose the other boy while he advised me to become a fisherman despite him knowing of my hatred of sea travel but he was too busy with his new apprentice." He glared at the ground. "Every day I walked through the village and was forced to see my old mentor who I idolized like a father with that boy who stole my place and put me in with the common fisherman who'd always mess with me." He took a breath. "Despite all this though I continued my studies in secret until one day the apprentice who took my place discovered me and told the shaman and chief." He looked down shaking his head. "It did not end well since as I was no longer an apprentice I was not allowed to continue those studies and such all my work was destroyed and I was shunned before being banished with nothing but a small boat and food." He looked up at me. "It was during the sixth day of my banishment I landed on a small island where I was able to barely survive but continue my studies and create this." He pointed to the gem around his neck. "When I completed it I knew what I truly wanted in my life."

"And what would that be?"

"Power!" He chuckled. "Using the power of my gem I was able to break the seal to the realm of monsters and gain control over them forming an army to destroy those who had turned their backs on me."

"Well something must've gone wrong seeing as you're now just an old legend and the people are free." He frowned.

"Indeed, the chiefs and shaman of ancient times were able to gather the pieces of the seal I thought I had destroyed and seal the entrance to the realm of monsters once more and with it sealing off a large part of my power so I returned to the island where I forged my gem and slowly regained my full power." He pointed towards the seal. "I then destroyed that seal and after regaining control of some of my minions I sent them after the pieces but those protection kept my minions at bay." He then smiled. "It was through them however I found out about you Hiccup." I raised an eyebrow. "You see each have a on them like gem you took off my spider and it through these I'm able to see what my minions see."

"Then why did I only find one on the spider and none of the others."

"Well with my shark the location you stabbed it in was where the gem was so you ended up destroying it and when you took my spiders gem I was able to watch you and henceforth had no need for their gems so when they were defeated I simply destroyed them before you had the chance to get them."

"So, you've been watching me since the spider?"

"Indeed, and I was impressed with what I saw which brings us to my offer for you and your impressive mount." I raised an eyebrow. "I wish to use my army of monsters to not only conquer not only the Hawaiian Islands but the world but in order to do this my army requires a leader to serve at my side." I felt the feeling of dejavu as the memory of Morgan Le Fey went through my mind.

"Let me guess, you want me to be that leader."

"I see you're smart as well as an excellent warrior."

"There is that but the real question is why should I?"

"I can offer you unimaginable power beyond your wildest dreams along with untold riches, minions and anything else you may desire." During our talk a plan came to my mind but I knew I needed to make it seem like I was actually interested.

"What kind of power are we talking about?"

"The power to control monsters, bend the ocean to your will, command over the weather, enslave other living beings and more."

"And what about these untold riches."

"I have little use for the valuables known as gold that belongs to other kingdoms so it would all go to you after every new conquest."

"And what do I have to do I have to prove I'm willing to accept this deal." He smiled.

"All you have to do is hand over the seal."

"If that's the case then come over here and collect it since I don't know if you'll cut the ropes to the bridge when I'm halfway across."

"Cautious and smart, I like it." He then walked across the bridge and walked up to me as I put the seal into my satchel.

"Let's shake to our new agreement sir." He smiled and held out his hand.

"The seal first Hiccup just so I know you can be trusted."

"As you wish." I reached into my satchel and pulled out the seal and passed it to Lopaka who chuckled.

"The seal is finally mine." I smiled as he turned the blank face that he believed to be the back of the seal to face him and frowned at the sight of the other side also being blank. "This isn't the seal." I put my prosthetic on his shoulder while his attention was on the stone disc.

"You really think I'd join a maniac like you." I then activated my light blue crystal shocking Lopaka and bringing him to his knees before I grabbed the black gem off his neck. "I figured the one who broke the seal would be here so I made a fake just in case and used it to get close enough for me to grab the gem that you stupidly revealed to be the source of your power." I held it up in my prosthetic before crushing it causing a dark smoke rise from the pieces as Lopaka looked at his hands as his body slowly turned to dust with me watching before he looked up at me and said.

"A curse on your life Norseman."

Last words he said before turning into nothing but dust leaving only the necklace he used to hold the crystal. With him out of the way I walked back to the indent and pulled out the seal before kneeling down, holding the seal over the indent. When it was half a foot away the seal felt like it was ripped from my hands and pulled into the indent before it began to glow a blinding red. When the light died I looked around and saw that I was no longer on a platform but simply in the middle of a sea stack top with the pit leading to the realm of monsters gone as if it were never there. I stood up looking around and saw no way to access the realm of monsters and knew this meant the entrance was completely sealed so no monsters would be able to escape again. I let out a sigh of relief knowing this adventure was finally over and now all I had to do was go back to the five islands to both inform the people about what happened and also pick up my trophies from my past battles with the monsters. After that I might just relax a bit and learn the language, customs, way of life, their weapons, take in the scenery, maybe learn how to surf, learn how to prepare the food, actually socialize with some of the locals without fear of monsters and actually enjoy a little vacation. I just hoped the peace lasted for the rest of my trip but hey if it didn't then I was ready to take on whatever the gods threw at me since I've faced a lot of challenges in my eighteen years of life and even more difficult and life-threatening challenges since I started travelling.

AN: Hey guys I know the battles were short and not that exciting but cut me some slack since I've been writing race to the edge for weeks so I need some time to get back into the flow of writing adventures plus the Hawaiian islands don't have that many mythical creatures that I could use. Until then please be patient and for those of you who are wondering why I chose Hawaii out of the rest of the world just wait and see and all will be revealed soon enough. Until next time please review kindly and I'll see you all next week.
