When Albert first made eye contact with Willie , he saw his wife Rachel clinging to him. It was apparent she was pregnant. If he went by medical education not very far along. Her stomach was round but not huge. By her clinging to Willie he had to assume she was in preterm labor. The new symptom clenching of Rachel's teeth put Albert's worst assumption into reality.

"Early Labor. Get on the table please." Albert stated

"Exactly. She's only 24 weeks." Willie whimpered.

"Dear God" Albert whispered under his breath

"3rd pregnancy ." Rachel moaned

"Good Things to know." Albert stated

Albert gave Rachel some Morphine and then stepped outside the exam room.

It had to be an act of God. Albert couldn't have another explanation but at that very moment, he remembered it.

Last year a woman came into the hospital. He was working with a doctor a specialist a OBGYN that is what the called it. The woman was in extreme pain. 24 weeks just like Rachel. The doctor knew just what to do. He put her to sleep and stitched her cervix. Albert watched the whole thing. The removed the stiches at 38 weeks. She had a healthy baby.

But watching and doing the procedure were two different things.

If he didn't try the baby wouldn't live. If he did the procedure there was a risk Rachel and the baby both wouldn't survive. Both options wouldn't provide a Guarantee of survival for both of his patients. It could leave Willie without a child. Or Willie without his wife and child.

He had to act fast. Even with the Morphine he could hear Rachel whimpering behind the curtain.

The next sound he heard aided him in his decision.

"Please God give Albert the knowledge to help them. Haven't I been a good father and husband?!" Willie said in a gasping sob.

Albert burst through the curtain.

"Willie I need you to go get Laura. Doctor Baker has already left town." Albert said in a stern voice.

Willie didn't waste anytime he raced out of the office.

While he was gone Albert Inserted a IV.

"I'm going to put you to sleep. This is to help the baby." Albert said in the most confident tone he could muster for this nerve wracking time.

Albert put the sleeping medication in through the IV. And the last words Rachel spoke were

"You are Willie's friend. I trust you."
