Chapter 229

Hiccups POV:

It's been four weeks since we took down Flavius and if I had to use one word to describe that time here, that word could only be 'Busy' and the reason for that is despite Flavius being dealt with, he still left a massive mess behind for me to clean up and I'm not just talking about the mess in the mansion where me and my family were staying. Honestly, the city finances were a mess, the city guards were drunk most of the time, crime ran rampant at night and there were more drunks causing mayhem for local business' at night then there were people on Berk. Because of this I had to spend all my time organizing the cities taxes, forcing the guards to sober up and banning wine from the garrison and using my own forces at night to clear out the crime at night.

The most painful parts about all this was how I had to have my family constantly guarded by my ninja due to the multiple assassination attempts on their lives when the ones on my life always failed due to many nobles not being happy with Flavius being arrested. I couldn't blame them for being angry though since from what I was told, he'd throw massive parties on a nightly basis and always invited the nobles who were now sending the assassins and now they couldn't enjoy fun filled nights like that anymore. Along with this I was also forced to shut down many of their own parties since they were being so loud, they were disturbing the peace when people were trying to sleep so a lot of them weren't too happy with me.

The biggest headache of all though was how some of these nobles were doing their very best to get onto my good side by acting friendly to me and my family. Some of them would send me gifts in the forms of wine, food, various treasures and the occasional slave who I put to work in the mansion since if I sent them back, they'd be punished. Once the gifts were sent some of them believed this would give them the right to throw their massive parties and when I came to put an end to them, they'd offer me to join them. The men who did this were often accompanied by a woman on each arm who were wearing things that left very little to the imagination if they were wearing anything at all. I'd normally deal with these problems myself since when I brought my wives along to help sort things out some of the drunk men would walk up and offer them a place in their beds and I had to hold myself from killing them on the spot. The problems my wives dealt with was when female nobles would come to the house late at night to offer their bodies to me but they often never got past the front door before my wives

Now after all this time, I was finally able to meet with Caesar again to hear the good news, that he has selected another noble to be this cities Governor and unlike Flavius, he's not easily swayed. This brings us to now with me standing at a desk with Caesar standing on the other side after the new governor left once, I finished giving him an idea of how things are now going in the city compared to before. Caesar smiled at me and clapped his hands together as he said.

"Hiccup, here we are with Caesar once again owing you a great debt." He lowered his hands. "First you returned my personal galley to Rome while bringing with it those who stole it while spitting on the honor I'd bestowed upon them and now you have not only helped expose a corrupt governor who was stealing the tax money but also returned the money he stole, returned the city to its former glory and while doing this you were able to catch multiple criminals." He smiled. "By doing these deeds, you have helped not only me but also help all of Rome and I am not ungrateful for what you have done and for your deeds, I invite you and your family back to my palace so you may be properly rewarded for your deeds." I nodded and bowed.

"I would be honored O Caesar." He smiled and stood up.

"Then let us be on our way but I do hope you will allow us to travel back to Rome using your portal doors to save us some time." I smiled.

"Gladly, if you will just allow me the chance to gather my family and our belongings, we shall be on our way." He nodded and with that I left the room to inform my family about our next move.

4 days later

It's been four days since we returned to Rome and I am happy to say those days have been peaceful compared to my time running a city with the only big event being Caesar throwing a celebration in my honor. It was here I was given a large pile of gold that was the size of my father, a giant roman style statue of myself striking a pose with Toothless behind me and a laurel wreath made of pure gold. Sadly, this drew a lot of attention towards me and my family, mainly my kids who the nobles realized would one day be the ones to receive my fortune when I die. This led to them bringing their children to every place I took my own kids for a little fun time and they'd send their kids over to play with them but we could all tell it was a way to try and worm their way into my life and if possible, my family through marriage to my kids. It was because of this that we were doing our best to avoid these areas and stick to the forest surrounding our house since it was my property, meaning nobody would be able to bother us. Now I at Caesars palace after being invited for a drink and was now enjoying a little wine and small talk while resting on a cline with Caesar on another cline next to me. It was then Caesar finished laughing at a joke I told him before he said.

"I cannot thankyou enough for this Hiccup, it's been a while since I've been able to relax and enjoy myself." I nodded.

"I know what you mean, it was a nightmare for me running a city so I can't imagine how hard it is to run an empire."

"Indeed, but with what you've done, it's at least one headache less for me so I now have more time to focus on those indominable Gaul's." I raised an eyebrow.

"Indominable Gaul's?" He nodded.

"They are the one village of Gaul's that have yet to be conquered by Rome thanks to a magic potion their druid brews, giving them superhuman strength and makes the invincible against my forces."

"Sounds tough for those sent to try and conquer them." He nodded.

"It is but that is why these days I send the legionaries who were either at the bottom of their class or need a bit of discipline to them since it toughens them up a bit or teaches them a lesson at least." I smiled and nodded.

"That is something I can understand."

"I have met their best warriors though and I can honestly say though that despite their savagery, they are honorable warriors who have more than earned my respect." I nodded.

"I think I'd like to visit this village to see what they're like as a people."

"I will be happy to arrange a map to their village for you but are you sure you wish to see these people."

"I figure it'll be interesting to see what kind of village can stand up to the mighty Roman army and besides if they are honorable then they won't attack me unless I attack them first." He nodded.

"Understandable but I recommend you not tell your wives about them being fierce warriors as neither of them will be too eager to go to such a place." I nodded with a chuckle.

"They'd probably force me sleep on the couch for a few days." He smiled and with a chuckle he replied.

"My friend, you may be powerful but you are still powerless against your wives." I nodded.

"True but a happy wife means a happy life." He nodded while chuckling.

8 days later

It's been eight days since me learning about the Indominable Gaul's and the first four days were spent packing our belongings, settling some last-minute affairs and going over the map Caesar had given us. The final four day of the eight days had been spent in my carriage with my family, enjoying the peaceful countryside which is why we didn't take my ship even though it would be faster. This time on the roads had been pretty peaceful and helped remind me about how truly beautiful the world around me can be and when enjoying it with my family, its beauty was only enhanced.

Now we were all standing on the side of the carriage that I'd parked on the roadside that was built on a cliffside, giving a great view of the forests and fields below along with the beaches by the ocean at the far side and of course the nearby village which was obviously the place we were looking for. I smiled at the view as I gently held onto little Chara who I was carrying in my arms while we took a break from traveling to enjoy the view of this land. It all looked pretty peaceful with the exception of the roman army camps that surrounded the area but other than that it was hard to believe that there was any way to toughen the roman legionaries up. Knowing that the answers lay within the village I decided it was time for us to continue on our way towards the village to see what was happening in the small village that could hold back the might of the Roman Empire.

Half an hour later

We were approaching the entrance gate of the village with me sitting in the driver's seat of the carriage with Astrid next to me since she wanted to be my back up if something happened while Blanca was in the carriage with Toothless and the kids. I smiled at the sight of the village since it truly looked to be a peaceful place so it was hard to picture the locals pushing back the roman forces back. It was then we approached the gate as I said.

"Hard to believe such a peaceful place is used to either punish or toughen up roman legionaries." Astrid nodded.

"Yeah, it seems pretty quiet."

It was then we began riding through the gate but just as we did a fish was thrown between us and hitting the carriage wall making us both look at it confused before turning towards where it came from. What we saw was a massive brawl in the middle of the village with dust being kicked up, forming a cloud that made it impossible to see who was brawling. I noticed an elderly man with beard that reached his feet in length and a bald head with hair on the sides, wearing white long sleeved robes with a red cape going down his back, speaking with a man who would reach just under my chest in height with a blond moustache and hair, wearing a helmet with a wing on either side, a black sleeveless shirt with red pants and brown shoes and a green belt with three gold studs on the front. I saw they weren't battling anyone but simply watching it while they were chatting about something and I figure it best to go with them to ask for a meeting with the chief. I turned to Astrid and whispered.

"Stay here while I check this out." She nodded as I got off the carriage and slowly walked towards the two men gaining their attention.

"Excuse me gentlemen, I hate to bother you but me and my family just arrived here from Rome and would like to speak with your chief." They smiled at me as the elderly man said.

"No problem my good sir." He raised his hand and held up one finger. "Just one moment." The elder walked up to the edge of the brawl. "Excuse me, we need to speak with the chief." A fat man with orange hair that was braided on either side of his head and moustache wearing a green tunic with red cape, brown belt, blue and black striped pants came out on a shield that was being carried by two blond haired and mustached men and looked down at the elder.

"What can I do for you Getafix?" The elder now known as Getafix gestured towards me.

"This man and his family have just arrived from Rome-"The chief cut him off by bringing out his sword and yelling.

"INVADERS, WE'RE UNDER ATTACK-" He was cut off by a fish to the face being thrown by a short blond-haired woman wearing a pink dress and skirt walked up next to me and said.

"Would you calm down, it's a lost family not an invading army." She turned to me. "Sorry about my idiot husband." I shrugged

"It happens but I would still like to speak with him in private." The chief nodded.

"We can do it in my hut lad, just follow me." He then began being carried away with me following.

5 minutes later

We were in the hut with Getafix, short man who I now know to be named Asterix, the chief, his wife and a fat man with red hair that was braided into two pigtails with black ribbons, wearing blue and white striped pants with green belt with gold studs on it with a helmet with small horns, sitting on his head and in his arms was a small black and white dog with the man being named Obelix and the dog being named Dogmatix . The people were standing around me except the chief who was sitting on a high wooden chair with the top part resting on top of a shield and looking down on me. I'd just finished informing them of the reason for us coming here and how I hoped that it wouldn't cause any trouble for them to allow us to stay a few days. The chief who I now know to be Vitalstatistix was rubbing his chin in thought before nodding as he said.

"You and your family are welcome to stay as long as you like but I would like to know where it is you come from?" I smiled.

"I was born and raised on a small island in the archipelago called Berk." He rubbed his chin.

"Sounds familiar somehow." It was then his wife said.

"Of course, it does, I've got distant relatives on that island." She turned to me. "I don't suppose you know a couple by the name of Stoick and Valka, do you?" I smiled and nodded.

"Of course, I do, they're my parents." She gasped. "Are you related to one of them?" She smiled.

"Your mother is my third cousin." I raised an eyebrow.

"So that makes you my fourth cousin?"

"Just call me auntie Impedimenta." I smiled. "Now why don't you tell us how many there are in your family so we can set up lodging for you all."

"I appreciate the offer auntie, but we've got more than enough room in the carriage for the six of us." Vitalstatistix then asked.

"You've got four kids?" I looked at him and shook my head.

"No, just my son and daughter, the other three are my two wives and my best friend." Auntie Impedimenta gasped.

"You have two wives instead of just one." I could see she was shocked by this and getting a little angered so I quickly said.

"Yes, but only because the culture of my first wife asks that I take more than one wife and when I do I make sure it's a woman who I truly have feelings for." She nodded at this before Getafix asked.

"Well I have to say that was a bit of a shock but is there anything else you feel that we should know?" I rubbed the back of my head wondering how I was going to explain my dragons to them before coming to the decision that it'd be better to show them while explaining.

"Yeah, there are other things you should know but I think best everyone in the village should be present since those who aren't present may be given quiet the scare when they find out." They nodded before Vitalstatistix stood up.

"Then let's see what you think can give my people a scare." With that said he got back onto the shield and was carried out with all of us following.

5 minutes later

I was standing in front of my carriage with my family, with Toothless and Shāndǐng now in his dragon form standing behind me, Chara in my arms and surrounding us were all the villagers who were staring in shock. I looked around at their frozen forms before chuckling nervously as I said.

"Yeah, I know this is going to take a lot of explaining but first there are some things you should know." I held up my prosthetic. "This arm is a prosthetic limb, given to me by the gods and it has many abilities thanks to the items given to me from other gods but for now let's just focus on what I'm about to use." I released my golden spider. "This spider gives me the ability to create illusions which I normally use to show events like I'm about to but please save all your questions for after I'm done with the illusion and remember, none of what your about to see is real so it cannot harm you." With that said I began my illusion showing how I met Toothless.

Nightfall

It's been hours since we arrived in the village of Gaul's and that time had been spent showing various illusions of the places I'd been, the people I've met and enemies I've gone up against. It earned me a lot of respect from the village males and showing them my adventure to make Blanca understand my love for her, earned me a lot of respect among the women who found it nice to see that my generation still had a true romantic. I did spend some time after all that getting to know the villagers, exploring the village, getting a better understanding of their way of life and other such things. I had to say it looked to be a pretty peaceful place to live with the exception of the occasional brawl but from what Asterix told me, it was normal for their village since it gave everyone a way to release some pent up feelings and pass the time on dull days. Before I knew it, night had fallen and Auntie Impedimenta brought us to her hut for a dinner of hot soup and roast boar which we all enjoyed eating with a bit of small talk. Now I was in bed with my wives while staring up at the ceiling, slowly allowing slumber to take me as I wondered what tomorrow would bring.

5 days later

It's been five days since we came to the village of the Gaul's and those days had been pretty interesting with me and my family just taking in the culture, getting to know the locals and just having a quiet and enjoyable time. I'd actually become friends with the villages two best warriors, Asterix and Obelix and learnt a bit more about them like how they'd been best friends for years and how Asterix was a village warrior while Obelix was still a warrior but he was also a menhir delivery man. I had to admit that I was quite surprised when I saw Obelix carrying one of those giant stones as if they were nothing until the village druid Getafix explained that he fell into the cauldron of his magic potion when he was a baby and it had a permanent effect on him.

Speaking of the magic potion, I didn't get what the big deal was about it and spoke to Getafix about it who gave me a taste of the freshly brewed potion and I admit it was tasty but nothing much besides that. This was something I made clear to Getafix but he just smiled and told me to go and gently push a tree which I did and was shocked when it actually fell over as if it were nothing. Unfortunately my shock was ended when the local bard Cacofonix complained about how he wasn't even singing, which normally got him a strike from a member of the village. I couldn't blame him for getting angry though since the tree I pushed over was the one his tree house was built in and he was in the middle of a nap so it was a real rude awakening for him.

Now I was standing in the doorway of my families carriage in the morning as I took a deep breath of the fresh morning air before hopping onto the ground while my family remained inside, sleeping in. It was then Asterix walked up and smiled at me as he said.

"Morning Hiccup." I smiled.

"Morning Asterix."

"You ready to help me and Obelix with our work for Getafix." I nodded.

"I'm still having a hard time believing you guys have to do this every time this year." He shrugged.

"Are things different on your island?" I nodded.

"A little like how it's normally the parents of Berk who have to do this and they don't have to chase their targets around the village." It was then Obelix walked up, looking a little annoyed as he said.

"Alright, let's get this over with." I raised an eyebrow at his behaviour before Asterix said.

"Come now Obelix, it's not that bad."

"Yeah, but I still don't like doing this." I then said.

"I can understand that since it feels like I'm hunting instead of gathering and I do not like my prey this time." They nodded before Asterix said.

"Well either way it has to be done, no matter how much we don't like it." I sighed and nodded.

"Let's get started then." I took a breath. "Time to round up the kids and take them to school." The sad thing is I wasn't using a figure of speech, we really will be rounding up the children and taking them to school since they'd try to escape going to school which is why they needed to be rounded up and gathered like wild boar piglets.

Half-an-hour

I have been collecting kids and carrying them to school for the past half-hour with the majority of them doing their best to try and escape us, but I was always able to catch them and take them to school. Still I didn't enjoy doing this since it felt like I was actually hunting the kids and it didn't help that I was using my jaguar mask to help me track down those who were hiding in various places around the village. It also didn't help that whenever I caught one of them, they'd begin struggling while whining about how unfair it was that I was using my strength to force them to do something they didn't want to.

Now I was in the village school, which was a bunch of tables with benches, a fence built around the small area, a black slab of stone that Getafix writes on and a short wooden platform with a small podium on it. I was standing on the platform next to Asterix on my right who was next to Getafix who had Obelix holding Dogmatix in his hand, on Getafix's other side while Toothless was behind us. It was then Getafix looked out at the children and said.

"Children, I'm ashamed of you as every new school year you have to be rounded up like wild boar piglets and this time you have inconvenienced a guest of the village when you all know you must go to school if you're to be good Gaul's." A red haired child in the front row then asked.

"So why don't Asterix and Obelix go to school, O druid."

"They did when they were your age and they worked hard to become the good Gaul's that they are today." He clapped his hands together. "Now time for a classroom challenge." He turned to Obelix. "Obelix, what was the date of the battle of Gergovia?" I could see he was a little nervous.

"The battle we won?" Getafix nodded.

"The battle we won." It was then a child whispered.

"MDXV!"

"Would it be MDXV?" Getafix shook his head.

"No, it would not be MDXV!" Obelix began tapping his chin in thought but we could all see he was nervous by how he was sweating.

"The battle of Gergovia." He began sweating some more as Getafix rushed, saying.

"Come on, come on, I want an answer."

10 minutes later

I was leaning against a boulder by the class with Toothless, Asterix and Dogmatix as we laughed our heads off at the sight before us which was Obelix, sitting at a desk as a student of the school. The reason for this is Getafix was not the least bit happy with Obelix not being able to answer the question on the battle of Gergovia or the following questions which resulted in him setting a bad example for the kids. This is why he was now joining the children as a student himself and would be doing so for the remainder of the school year, while we all got a good laugh at the sight. I knew this memory would always make me smile since it was pretty darn funny to see a fully grown man in a children's class, learning what one plus one is and I knew the girls would want to see it through my illusions. It would have to wait though since while I was enjoying a good laugh and helping keep an eye on the class, my family were enjoying a day down at the beach.

The beach

Nobodies POV:

Astrid and Blanca were watching as Brant and Chara played in the sand and having a bit of fun in the sun while enjoying a little family fun time while Hiccup's busy. What none of them noticed though was a ship off the coast nor did they notice the black man in the crows' nest looking at them from his spot above the sails. The man looked down at the deck and said.

"CAPTAIN, THERE'S TWO WOMEN AND TWO KIDS ON THE BEACH!" The orange haired captain with an eyepatch over his right eye, wearing curved horn helmet, green shirt and black pants looked up at him.

"DO THEY LOOK LIKE THEY COME FROM THAT GAULISH VILLAGE?"

"NO, THEY SEEM TO BE FOREIGNERS SO WE SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE WITH THE GAULS!" The captain smiled.

"Then they should be easy pickings for us." He turned to those on the deck. "SET SAIL FOR THE BEACH!" The ship turned towards the beach.

10 minutes later

Astrid was gently tossing Chara up and down in the air while she giggled as Brant watched with a smile on his face at the sight of his little sister being so happy with one of their adoptive mothers. Blanca walked up next to him and gently placed a hand on his shoulder making him look up at her which she simply replied with a gentle smile which he returned. As he did so he couldn't stop but think how much his life has changed over time since he used to be the simple son of a blacksmith, then he became an orphaned slave and now he was the adopted son of a great hero, living on an island with things he'd never dreamed of and to top it all off, not only was his adoptive father a dragon rider but he'd also given him and his sister two wonderful new mothers. Although he'd lost so much in his life, it was thanks to Hiccup that he'd also regained some of what he'd lost and gain so much more than he could ever have dreamed of. It was then this tender moment was ended by a gruff voice from behind them saying.

"Well boys, look at what we've got here boys."

Astrid caught Chara and turned to see what was happening with Blanca and Brant turning to see who ruined their moment and were greeted by none other than the pirates who were all smirking at them. Blanca quickly grabbed Brant and jumped back to where Astrid and Chara were standing, knowing that these men were most likely going to cause them trouble. It was then the captain walked forward as he said.

"Alright ladies, we outnumber you and judging from the way you're dressed, none of you are from the village which means you're easy money since the Romans will pay good money for you." Astrid and Blanca smirked at the pirated before Astrid said.

"Clearly, you all don't know who we are since if you did, you wouldn't be so calm." She released her leopard claws making the eyes of the pirates widen in shock as Blanca slowly took her snake guardian form.

"Having a fight with you all shall not be a challenge for us."

5 minutes later

The pirates had received a massive beatdown from the girls that had dwarfed any thrashing they'd gotten from the Gaul's with the girls giving them new material for their nightmares. The children who were watching, were shocked at seeing the mothers who were always so gentle, beating the living daylights out of the men as if they were nothing. They even flinched when Astrid threw one man right into another man who Blanca threw to meet him using her tail, causing a large slamming sound mixed with bones cracking when they met. Sadly, while the girls were caught up in their fighting, they never noticed an old man with a crutch making his way passed them and made his way towards them. It was then Brant took noticed him just as he pulled out a small sword and pointed it at him as the old man smiled and said.

"Alright brats, get on your knees before I am forced to hurt you and call off your beasts while you're at it." Brant turned to glare at him.

"Those are our mothers, not beasts and if you think I'll let you hurt my little sister, then think again."

The old man smirked thinking Brant was just acting tough until Brant rushed at him with speed that it surprised the old man who didn't see it coming. Brant quickly took the arm that held the knife making the old man scream as he dropped the knife right before Brant twisted his arm and turned his back while placing his hand on the elder's stomach. He picked the elder up and threw him right into another one of the men who was busy fighting with Astrid, throwing them both to the side, earning Brant a proud smile from Astrid who quickly finished off the last of her opponents before the captain cried out.

"BACK TO THE SHIP LADS, THEY'RE WORSE THAN THE GAULS!" This was all the pirates needed to hear before they fled back the way they came but once they were out of sight Hiccup came onto the beach with Asterix, Obelix and of course Toothless and Dogmatix as Hiccup asked.

"Hey what's going on?" Chara then cried out.

"DADDY!" She rushed to greet her father who quickly picked her up and spinning her around while she giggled until he stopped and hugged her before Obelix asked.

"Did we miss some fun?" It was then Hiccup noticed Blanca was in her guardian form while Astrid had her claws out.

"What happened?" The worry was clear in his voice Astrid replied.

"Just a couple of pirates who thought we were easy targets, but I think they know you guys since they claimed we're worse than the Gaul's." Obelix clapped his hands.

"Goody, pirates to play with." Asterix then asked.

"Which way did they go?" Blanca answered.

"They went back to their ship and have most likely set sail." Obelix ran to the ocean.

"If we hurry, we can still catch them." He dived into the water and took off while Hiccup turned to Asterix.

"Shouldn't we stop him?" Asterix shook his head.

"No, let him have his fun after the day he's had." The girls raised an eyebrow at this, but Hiccup smiled.

"I'll tell you all later." They nodded. "Now who's up for some lunch?" Chara cheered as Brant smiled with his mothers at this before they all took off back to the village for a bit of lunch.

AN: And that brings an end to this filler chapter and I hope you all enjoyed it with a few laughs from some of the events that I've had done. Anyway, about me warning you all about the last chapter being a little mature but letting you all down on that. I'd like to apologies for that, but I decided to change my mind at the last-minute figuring it wouldn't fit in with the story. Anyway, I'm posting a poll after this chapter is posted and I'd appreciate it if you all would all go and vote so I at least know what you're thoughts are and it'll be up till Sunday which is when work on the new chapter.
