Buried 50 meters down underground in an undisclosed location the heavy raindrops attacking the city weren't heard or seen. If not for the amount of concrete and land above it, it would be the loud music screaming that would have drowned the rhythm of the warming raindrops that have cuddled most of the cities' inhibitors into their perfect dreams. The music he was never fond of was easily becoming the cause of his headaches and nausea. The smell of luxurious alcohol, expensive perfumes & cigarettes added to his appetite that had disappeared weeks ago; it was no wonder Junpyo had slowed down the drinks he was chugging down and sat quietly cornered.
Has it always been like this?
Was the music ever this loud and annoying?
Were the barely clothed girls dancing across the stage ever this uninteresting?
Was the smell of alcohol this nauseating?
Were the flickering lights this suffocating?
Hands in his jacket pocket, Junpyo sat with his eyes focused on his two friends losing their minds in the middle of the dance floor. As always, his best friend had found an excuse to miss this, leaving him to be with his crazy friends who didn't even waste a good 10 minutes before they left chasing the random girls they had brought with them. Left alone at their usual corner table, Junpyo had sat there for the last 4 hours wondering why they were even doing this on a Thursday night. His mind was busy trying to figure out why he had never found this to be that entertaining, especially when his best friend wasn't there, which lately is most nights.
His dark hair perfectly cuddling his pale face adding to his provocative eyes glaring at the distance; it was no wonder he had more than enough flirtatious gazes directed his way. Unlike the many men they were grinding with, if they had to pick, quite a few girls would pick him for the night. The consumed and distant persona he displayed was just as alluring as his matt-black platinum card that had no limit. To most, his last name was enough. They would have singled him out even if he wasn't that attractive just as long as he carried the famous last name, but he was so beyond attractive that his name didn't even matter. At times, it was all too much to handle, to a point some girls intentionally avoided his eyes. The all-black outfit he had on added to the dark aura around him; it was no wonder not one of the girls who had walked past his table had approached him. He was beyond scary and unapproachable when he was alone. It was easier to find an excuse to approach him whenever he was with his friends. Especially the two in the middle of the party. None of the girls that had dressed up when they knew the F4 boys were coming were confident enough to make any move. The circular table in the corner had all the space in the world to fit more than a couple of the girls checking the man sitting by himself. This was very surprising considering how, whenever his so-called girlfriend wasn't around, he used to be surrounded by girls.
The relationship between the two was not officially labeled as open, but everybody knew his infidelity was more than tolerated by the girlfriend he spoiled beyond measure. They could only dream of getting a hundredth of what she gets, but if they were lucky, actually beyond lucky, they would end up being one of the lucky ones to sleep next to him until he woke up the next morning and not even remember their name. To balance the fact that he doesn't even know who they are or what they did hours before, his famous gratitude will be presented to them with a beautiful breakfast before they leave the hotel room. The luxurious and beyond-expensive gifts they received were seen as a nice gesture by the girls that had blindly assumed he had spent his own time buying them a gift and his way of apologizing for leaving without saying bye to them. Waking up next to somebody he doesn't remember wasn't something he did. The minute the drugs and alcohol leave his body, he can't spend a second longer next to any of them and has to make a quick exit. One quick call or a text to send the gift and he was usually out of the hotel after a quick shower. Not even a minute of his day was spent buying any of the gifts or even wondering about what to get. He just had to make a small call, and the assistants knew what to do. It was all used to silence their lips and pay them off. Apparently, the assistants have been doing a great job at picking great gifts as none of the girls had ever caused him or his girlfriend any problem. They knew their place.
The assists that haven't gotten any call to buy the gifts in months, only a few people were happy with the changes. Tonight was no different as he continued with the new trend and was looking beyond not being in the mood. For those that have known him for a while, the changes have been gradual. His detachment from everything might have caused a distance between them but even his girlfriend had welcomed it without any worry as it had distanced him away from any of the girls she knew he dealt with. Being his one and only had a charm of its own as she had accepted the weird behaviors he had been sinking into.
" Huh" he opened his lips and took a deep breath as his ears slowly drowned out the screaming Music that was pinching at his earbuds like a needle. His stomach asking to get some assistance with the alcohol he had been sipping without any food was now added to the suffocating feeling that slowly started taking over his whole body. He sat there taking deep breaths. The breathing technique his doctor had suggested wasn't working as his body started sending warning shimmering lights were slowly getting out of control as he closed his eyes and laid his head back down against the leather couch. "Focus on your breathing" he remembered his doctor's voice as he went on taking deep breaths and trying to drown out everything his senses were being bombarded with.
" Something is wrong with you" Jihoo's small comment he can't seem to smile and forget about what was overplaying again and again. He was the one that knew him the best. Everybody else, including his doctor, was dismissed as they presented to him how he had changed so much in the last year. His behavior that has become beyond detached was brought to his attention but was quickly dismissed until he heard them from his best friend. Jihoo's words always carried a massive weight and couldn't easily be dismissed. He had known him since they were 4. Not just the longest, he was the one that knew him well. Like microscopic needles slowly attacking his body, the tantalizing feeling slowly creeps in as Junpyo bit his bottom lip down and stayed still, trying hard to empty his mind and return his pressured heart to its normal rhythm.
But it was no use. No breathing could calm it all down. The loud music, the flashing lights, the crowd of people cheering. .it was all starting to close in. His headache and empty stomach fight to win over who's cry for help gets answered first, were sending every signal for him to escape.
" Huh"
" huh " His fingers were quick as they grabbed his phone and key from the table. In seconds he was up from the table and heading to the Exit marked door that was starting to get fuzzy. His feet taking steps they won't even remember, he started cruising through the crowd of people. The room that was getting smaller felt more suffocating as his steps quickened. The various hands and bodies that started brushing against him were a bit repulsive as he tried to push people out of his way.
He needed to get out. His hands were as aggressive as ever as they pushed the people aside as he kept his blurred vision right at the door he was heading to. He needs to get out.
"huh " he took another deep breath hoping that would silence the suffocating feeling that was starting to take over. As always, his heart was quick to start its rapid beating the moment the feeling started to hit right at the target. The loud music he had drowned out, the flickering lights attacking his eyes, the luxurious smell suffocating his lungs. He needs something that can silence it all. He needs silence. A moment of stillness. Peace.
" HUH "
" HUH. " The deep breaths he kept on taking were unmatched as his feet quickened the steps. He banged open the door and headed to the parking lot. The black-walled hallway was more strangling as Junpyo focused his eyes on the exit sign ahead and started running. "Are you okay sir" the security guard he walked past was ignored as he focused his eyes on the exit. He could swear the walls were moving in closer and closer. The dim low lights of the hallway were waking up every nerve in him more than the flickering lights he ran away from. His own breathing was terrifying as he, with everything in him, forced his feet to run out of this place.
He didn't even know how he found his car from the line of cars or how he started it ,but it took seconds for him to step on the gas without even putting his seat belt on.
He needs to get away.
He just needs to get away from it all.
In no time the black car was out of the driveway. His fingers were frantic as they started pressing buttons, the first thing to do was open the windows and let the cold air attack his body. Praying to God that would calm down his nerves, he sat taking in the cold wind coming from both windows. His hair was the first thing to react as it started moving along with the wind. Tightening his left hand's grip on the wheel, he leaned to the right, sending his right hand to open the glove compartment and find the meds he should have taken hours ago. The alcohol he used to use to mute everything has become useless as it was making it all worse. The medication he hated taking was what he had left. That was the fastest and most effective way to silence it all.
" Just go home Junpyo" His phone vibrated. Dropping the medicine bottle down, he sent his eyes to his phone to find Jihoo's message.
" and eat something. PLEASE," came the follow-up text accompanied by a warning
"DO NOT take your meds before eating." Is there really anybody that knows him better than his best friend.
" I am going to get something to eat and go home" as the car came to a halt at the stoplight, he picked his phone up and replied. As always, Jihoo had the best six senses as he always says the right thing at the right time. Placing the medicine bottle in the cup holder, Junpyo focused his attention on the GPS he turned on.
Finding a restaurant close by - the GPS he had commanded started calculating to come up with none of his favorite restaurants or cafes that are open at this hour. Even if they were, he was nowhere close to the part of the city he knows well. The club Woobin had recommended was in the middle of a neighborhood he had never been before.
The bright and empty streets were followed by restaurant after restaurants with locked doors and closed signs. His medication a life-threatening matter, Junpyo knew now wasn't the time to be nitpicking chefs and restaurant quality. The dark clouds hovering over him were something he wanted to be silenced as fast as possible, by whatever means necessary. If that means eating from some dirty restaurant or a street vendor it was a price he would pay not to feel anything again. He was gonna throw it all up hours later anyway so why bother?
The small raindrops attacking his left shoulder he hadn't even noticed as he kept his eyes on the empty and dark road ahead. Forget the rain, after the three or four turns he took, he knew he was heading to an even shadier part of the neighborhood he wasn't supposed to be in. Even though the street light kept getting darker and darker, the small store and vendor lights were very bright and still on as he slowed down his speed and took in the view. He needs to find something with walls and a license to sell food, he concluded as he scanned all the street food vendors. He would be caught dead before he eats anything from the street.
The next exit - ordered to find whatever was open around him the GPS was leading the way to the late-night cafe ahead. Although he usually spends minutes analyzing his surroundings, he quickly parked the car on the empty spot across the cafe and jumped when the first raindrop hit his head, he quickened his step towards the glass door with the big open sign. He made sure to lock his car as he sent his hands to his jacket pocket and picked up his speed.
" Welcome," the girl behind the counter was all smiles as she followed him every step from the door he banged open all the way to the counter she was hiding behind. A tall, mysterious-looking wet man walking her way was the most interesting moment of her day, and she didn't fail to scan every inch of the boy walking her way. As she got a good look at the handsome man looking at her, she knew this was beyond a highlight of the day. This is something she will talk about with her girlfriends for weeks. As though he knew he was being admired and wanted to give her a better view, Junpyo pulled his right hand to his head and started brushing his wet hair back. The dark hair completely brushed away behind his ear, giving her a full view of his perfectly structured face. His beautiful face added to the all-black clothed body of his, she was completely drawn in with one look but to make it worse there were his paralyzing eyes. The small number of hair strands stuck to his sharp jawline moved up and down as he gave her a small smile and focused his eyes on her. It was always amusing to watch the effect he had on girls before he even said anything. The statue-like girl wasn't even remotely conscious enough to smile back as he waited for her greeting or handing him the menu. Her brain needs some seconds to start working again. Choosing to make it easier for her, he turned his eyes to the big menu plastered behind her, across the wall. There was no way he was eating anything cooked in this kitchen, so he quickly shifted his eyes to the fridge behind her. He needs packaged stuff.
" Can I have mango Juice and these energy bars '' he pointed at the items whose logos he recognized from commercials here and there. If he gets sick at least there are corporations to sue. He was trained at an early age to be picky with his food. It wasn't even about the food, it was about status. The street food he used to ask the drivers to buy him was dismissed by his mom who warned him that he was way above eating food being sold on the street. That was beneath him. He deserved to be fed food made with the finest ingredients and made by the most skilled chefs. That was what he had been preaching since he was about five. Everything had to be the best of the best. That was what he deserved and demanded. All the lessons he received had worked perfectly as he had grown to be one of the pickiest eaters who doesn't even entertain the thought of eating at a place that doesn't have a known chef. If he was eating with his family, it had to be a chef with Michelin stars.
"Of course" regaining control the girl gave him a smile as she headed to the fridge. From the girl, he sent his curious eyes to the left side of the cafe where a loud noise was coming from.
" You must be super dumb" came the loud voice from the corner of the cafe. With their tacky suits, slicked-back hair, and some tattoos sticking out their neck, the three men sitting across the table would have looked intimidating to anybody but not to the girl standing in front of them taking in all their complaints. Head down, the girl stood her hand tightly held at her back, taking in all the slander and curse thrown her way with no reply.
" here "the girl behind the counter placed the items by his side and went on smiling as she took in the platinum black card from his fingers she had made sure to touch. Her little squealing when his cold and wet fingers touched hers was adorable. His skin was beyond soft, she noted in between her smiles. Too caught up with what was going on with the three guys, Junpyo hadn't even noticed how she had really touched his hand which wasn't necessary to pick the card he was handing her. He didn't even register her fingers that had touched him as his whole attention was on trying to figure out why the figure standing in front of the table, taking all the cursing, looked familiar.
" NOW CAN YOU GO AND GET ME MY ORDER? "
" Sir we can't do that, you already have drunk half of this one " although he knew he wouldn't be any help, the other waiter jumped in pointing at the sandwich placed on the table.
" ARE YOU TRYING TO SCAM ME, YOU BASTARD ." the man went on as Junpyo scanned the girl up and down. One quick turn of the head and a slightly clear view of her face, he knew why she looked so familiar. So the bullying and name-calling she had been dealing with at school this week weren't enough ; she has to deal with random scums might not have seen it but he had heard Woobin and his minions chatting about all the stuff they had been doing to the mute girl.
"Here you go" The girl behind the counter had made sure to add in a chocolate bar that she charged to her own account to his order as she handed him all the items. Unlike she had hoped, his eyes didn't look her way as he focused them on the girl still standing taking in all the screams, his right hand was what grabbed all the items.
" I AM NOT STUPID . ." jumping up, the man shouted. What was happening got the attention of the other two people already walking out of the cafe. They didn't pay that much attention as they left the place, leaving the three angry men as the only customers in the late night cafe that was 10 minutes away from closing.
"Sir we are about to close so if you can just pay" the other waiter was still kind enough to add sir as he asked with a quick bow. Being the only male employee, he knew if there were a fight he would be the first to get attacked. The men did not look like they wouldn't hit women, but he would be first. It was better to solve this before the doors closed and he was left to deal with the scary-looking men by himself.
" You know what, never mind" As the man stood up, his fear took over.
" Just get them the sandwiches and drinks" the waiter added as he got a glimpse of Junpyo, the last customer, walking out the door.
Head still bowed, the girl quicked her steps to the kitchen. If she had noticed the person who just walked out the door she would have regretted not looking up or paying attention as always. But she had 101 things to worry about for tonight. Her exhausted body had almost reached its limit as it was begging for relief. All she is praying for is to get home in one piece and just tuck herself into her blanket and if God willing never wake up.
" Jerk" The girl behind the counter, not even remotely worried about what was going on by the other side of the cafe, cursed at Junpyo who threw the chocolate she added to his order into the garbage bin as he walked out. His eyes stayed glued to the scene inside as he quicked his steps to his car. The rain drops hitting him were ignored as he got into the luxury car which the girl behind the counter would have fangirled over if she could make it but it was hidden way thanks to the street light that haven't worked in years and the corner parking space that hide it away.
" I'm gonna start cleaning," the girl behind the counter added as she threw her hat and started walking away. Jandi behind her was too occupied making the orders to even question why the girl who's always smiling was this upset.
If not for his attention that was focused on the girl walking back to the table with their order, Junpyo would have noticed how sweet the juice was. Three sips and the juice was placed by the cup holder between the seats. He pressed the button to close his window and turn the heater on as he sat, eyes focused on what was going on behind the glass wall across the street.
The dark green t-shirt and pants uniform didn't quite go well with her pale skin, Junpyo noted as he scanned her up and down again. Her boots, which have become her trademark, were on, as usual. Her bare legs, he was used to seeing at school, were for once covered behind the black pants hiding all the bruises and marks his schoolmates have caused. He wasn't aware of any of the bruises, so he didn't know they were hidden behind the pants and the long sleeves she had added to her uniform. The last thing she needed today was customers asking her about the marks she had accumulated from 4 days of childish games Woobin's minions had started playing with her. Thankfully she was lucky enough not to be seen as attractive enough by any of them as they hadn't resorted to what they usually did with girls. Physical assaults and humiliation have been their tricks with Jandi. That was what made them feel better about their lives. Humiliating the disgusting girl who everybody at the school had a free range to bully. Just one more day, she had whispered as she looked forward to the weekend. Tomorrow is Friday and then she will get two days of peace.
Even though he couldn't make out what was being said, Junpyo caught her slow bow as she handed them their sandwich and drinks. Her eyes were still glued to the floor not meeting any of the angry fire-filled eyes staring at her, he couldn't help but start wondering if she did that out of respect for others or if it was something else.
" huh"' he sighed as he saw the boy next to her start talking. That might be her savior for tonight. The boy's hand that had pushed her to the side as he stood in front of her, he was indeed the savior. Junpyo scanned the boy before returning his eyes to his favorite subject.
Does she ever respond?
Does she ever look up?
Weren't questions Junpyo was pondering as he sat there. Hands busy with the drink and energy bar they were seeding to his lips, his dark hair brushed behind his ear to give his non-blinking eyes a clear view of what had caught his sole attention, he was too engrossed by what was happening to question why he was still there.
" Huh" came a sigh as he witnessed one after the other the men standing up and pouring the drink over her bowed head. He had the perfect angle to make out her reaction as he zoomed his eyes on her face the moment the cold drink started pouring down the cup that was held an inch or so away from her head. The only reaction he witnessed was her eyes closing.
She stood motionless, head still bowed as the second man went on pouring his drink down.
The dozen bills the last man threw up in the air went down in slow motion as the three men left the table and headed to the door. The boy, left shocked and speechless, just went on staring at Jandi next to him, who hadn't moved at all.
Eyes still shut, she stood waiting for the last drops pouring down from her hair to reach the floor.
The boy pulling towels from his apron pocket started cleaning her hair which she had pushed away as she started heading to the back of the restaurant, out of Junpyo's view.
" Don't worry, we will teach her a lesson"
" She will be out soon " Junpyo had caught some of the chittering as the three walked onto the main road, crossing the street and coming towards the parked 2 cars in front of him.
" Are you okay?" he could read the boy's lips as he followed the girl into the back.

35.
It took 35 minutes for the light to turn off and for the three employees to walk out. Not even bothering to glance at the other two employees, Junpyo had focused his eyes on the black-jacketed girl who gave a small bow to the two who headed the other way. As she busied herself with locking the doors the other two had disappeared into the boy's car that was parked right in front of the store. As she stood jumping up and down to lock the top lock , the car drove out the parking spot giving Junpyo, across the street, a good view of the faded black jeans she had on that went too well with her black hoodie and jacket.
The barely bright street light hanging feet away from her might have been the reason it took her some time to lock it down, but after many tries she got it locked. The dark night's weather wasn't to be reckoned with as the cold wind quickly started attacking her body that was sitting down to lock the bottom lock. Too caught up in the small task at hand and her regular focus completely dismissed for the night she hadn't seen the tall figures walking her way from the other side of the street.
She didn't even finish locking up as the three men that were still lurking around the cafe showed up from the dark corner. Picking his phone up in seconds, Junpyo had 911 ready to dial as he fixed his eyes on the three men cornering the girl to the door she was struggling to lock.
Was it not normal for Junpyo to expect her to freak out or shout when she noticed the three men standing behind her?
Wouldn't it be normal for a girl like her to be shocked to death to be cornered like this in this part of town with no human insight?
Unlike any sane person who would be startled to find three strangers behind them at this hour, she didn't look that scared or startled as she turned around to face them. Junpyo zoomed in his confused eyes on the girl that didn't seem like she even knew the word fear. Let alone scared or startled by the men's presence, she looked annoyed. She looked beyond annoyed as Junpyo for once noticed a hint of emotion on her face as her rolling eyes and sigh had given it away. She looked annoyed.
Unable to believe her unbothered and not even remotely scared look, he had failed to press the call button as he sat frozen. Her black bag quickly snatched out of her left hand, it was thrown halfway across the pavement as one took the steps between him and the girl and sent his right hand to her cheeks.
Maybe it was a natural reaction, but just as fast as he sent his left hand to open the door and jumped out of the car, Junpyo had sat down when he noticed her leather-gloved right hand grab the man's hand right before it landed on her pale cheek. Her gloved hands would have been enough, but Junpyo's attention was on her eyes that in seconds had turned deadly sharp.
Her right hand that grabbed the hand that was aimed for her was quick as it twisted the man's arm, leaning him down to the right height she needed to land her famous right kick. With the right leg that landed at the correct angle of his neck, she had sent the man down to the floor, unconsciously landing on the cold and wet pavement. If it wasn't because of her boots that landed quite a sticking force against his unprotected neck, the pavement might have done it, but she was precise, as always. With little to no energy left in her system, she chooses to end it all with a few kicks. The two men that were just as startled as Junpyo wasted a second or two to register what just happened before they pulled their knives out and charged at the girl that had placed one of their friends blacked out on the pavement. Her gloved arms were beyond careful as they blocked every attack coming for her, but it was her legs that had frozen Junpyo; not even sure if he was breathing as everything had paused. The small figure he had dismissed as weak was the only thing in motion. It was the only thing his shocked eyes could follow as everything else, including the three bodies she was swinging left hand right were erased from his view. Her fragile legs which he recalls completely naked while driving off on a bike were beyond enchantingly fast and precise as they moved across the pavement making every movement of hers look like a dance number as she avoided every punch and kick sent her way but landed every kick she aimed. Forget landing a single punch. Neither of the men had even gotten closer to match the speed she moved with as Junpyo's eyes shocked out of their mind couldn't even register the speed at which she was landing some punches. It was all happening in a daze as her small frame bends and twists avoiding anything coming her way while calculating every defense and attack she landed. It might have left Jun Pyo in trance but this was not even her best work as it took a good minute or so for her to finish the three men twice her size either unconscious or bleeding down on the road.
As though this was something casual she was used to doing, she ignored the bodies on the floor as she quickly assessed the situation and concluded it was over. She could land one more kick and send them to blackout, but she knew it might be better to leave them conscious. They need to remember what happened before they decided if they were ever going to return. Her leather-gloved hands were quick as they picked her backpack and she started her slow steps away from the scene. With the lack of any cameras and security in this part of town, she had nothing to worry about. Nobody but her and the three men know what happened tonight, she had assumed.
If she wasn't too angry about her bus she was definitely going to miss and her body that was starting to hurt and begging for some relief, she would have noticed the foreign black car parked that wasn't empty and the person sitting in it who had just witnessed what she did. She tightened her grip on her backpack as she went on with her slow walks and started disappearing into the dark road ahead.
Get home now - MOM - The loud vibration of his phone brought Junpyo back to reality.
What just happened?
What the FUCk just happened? He was too dazed to even glance at his phone screaming for attention. His eyes, not even following the girl that dispersed out of view at the left turn of the corner, had stayed glued to the bodies she had left lying on the ground and walked away from like it was nothing.
Whatever took over him was more effective than his medication as it had silenced everything. He was left speechless to even utter a sigh. He was too stunned to even take a deep breath to calm his body which was trying to figure out the weird place what he just witnessed had placed him in. His senses were frozen the moment he noticed her angry sharp eyes hadn't returned as it was only his eyes that were taking in any information. Forgetting the mystery of her identity, Junpyo was transfixed and still processing her dance-like alluring flips and kicks she executed like a pro. Her wet hair added to the bewitching way her small body was moving, Junpyo was still lost in the minute-long illusion she had orchestrated in front of him.
Her fire-filled brown eyes he had caught were something else, but her black leather gloved hands he couldn't quite make out in the gray dark night were too quick for him to even notice any of the punches she had landed.
It was all too fast . . . She was deadly fast.
What the fuck just happened?
COME HOME NOW- his phone vibrated again as Junpyo forgot his seat belt, and stepped on the gas. He made the same left turn he saw her dispersed to.
The small black figure walking ahead, he was sure, was the same figure that had left him breathless minutes ago as he slowed his speed and followed from a small distance. Her hands in her jacket's pocket and her black hoodie on, she kept her rhythming walk to the bus stop she would have to sit for the next hour.
Still in trance from what he had just witnessed, Junpyo wasn't even sure what he was doing as he stepped his foot on the brake pedal and slowed down his speed when he noticed her legs slowing down their steps. She was finally aware she was being followed. The moment her legs came to a halt he knew she was aware of his car. He didn't expect her to turn, she was too smart and didn't need that to know she was being followed. As he knew she was testing him, Junpyo slowly stepped on the gas as she started walking. As though they were in sync, her legs, and the car's wheels had come to a complete stop at the same time.
She didn't even turn around as she stood still; it only took her seconds to calculate her plan as out of nowhere, her legs started running. A quick right turn and she was out of sight. Just like she would expect from somebody following her, Junpyo was quick as he stepped on the gas and took the same right turn. Using only his right hand to guide his wheel Junpyo's left hand was busy buckling his seat belt as he stepped on the gas following along the black figure leading the way on the empty still full but now all warmed up juice moved along the same direction the car just tilted; unlike his drink, his still bottled medicine bottle was unable to stand the sharp right turn and fell onto the passenger seat and then onto the floor.
The next sharp left turn he had to make was an easy one as he scratched the wheel against the wet road and curved the car to the same left turn she ran to. The little puddle of water his wheels splattered up made a perfect curve as he stepped on the gas. The 30 mph speed limit he was following, not even coming close to catching up to the girl ahead, he stepped on the gas. The rush that took over his body was thrilling as he turned his headlights on and stepped on his gas. His silenced senses were all awakened in seconds as his sharp eyes stayed on the black figure at a distance. The silence and daze he was placed in were replaced by another weird feeling as he let out a small smile that came at the challenging right turn she had forced him to make. With the scratches of his wheels against the wet road, he knew she was choosing every turn carefully to challenge not only his driving skills but his car. Unfortunately for her, the car he was forced to make every turn was built to handle this, and the boy that spent most weekends at race tracks was beyond well-trained to accept her challenge. This was something he could do blindfolded, as his eyes never left the wet figure leading the chase.
The quiet raindrops added to her fascinating speed; it was beyond mesmerizing to watch the small, all-blacked figure lead the way. Her legs yet again had left him speechless as he witnessed their speed. He didn't need another proof. This was the same girl that disappeared into nothing that night. He spent a minute standing in the rain with his direct, looking for where she escaped to.
This was round two.
This was the second time he was chasing the so-called mute girl.
Right before she made another left turn, hidden behind her wet hair and black hoodie, she had glanced back to get a glimpse of the car following behind, but he could thank his headlights for aiming right at her, blinding her vision to not even make out the type of car let alone the person behind the wheels or the license plates.
The few garbage bags she had jumped over were crushed by his new wheels leaving a mark on everything they crushed as they kept their target. It was beyond exciting to watch her body in action as Junpyo's lips were left hanging, watching her jump over the garbage bags. The small smile that escaped his lips was involuntary as a tiny drop of adrenaline mixed in with the blood flowing to wake up his body that had been numb for a while.
The many turns she was making being the only reason he couldn't catch up, Junpyo tightened his grip on the wheel as he made a sharp left turn, the white smoke that gushed out from underneath his tire was a warning he ignored as a couple of meters ahead he made another sharp right turn. She had adjusted the challenge as the curbs were becoming smaller. The turns were becoming sharper. His amazing driving skills coming to play he was making every turn and corner she threw his way as he kept his eyes zeroed in on her. Both his hands tightly holding the steering wheel, his whole body was focused on the chase that had become the most fascinating thing he has done in weeks. This was even more exciting than the illegal racing games he usually wins.
Even though he was just warming up, he had to step on his break, immediately halting his car as he turned right to find the narrow alley she ran into. There was no way he could fit his quarter of a million car into the small corner. His car stopping inches away from scratching the thick wall in front was silenced as he let go of the break. His fingers that tighten their grip on the leather steering wheel were the hint of anger and frustration he felt expressed. His annoyed eyes easily recognized how she knew she had caught him right where she wanted him as she stopped running.
Her running legs slowing down their speed, she sent her hands to her pocket after putting her hoodie on. She continued her walk ahead not even turning back to even make sure she wasn't being followed nor give him the pleasure of knowing she cared or was worried enough to make sure he wasn't bold enough to get out the car and follow her by foot. She didn't have to turn. Her ears could pick on any steps he might take if he stopped out of the car. He didn't. The neighborhood she knew like the back of her hand coming to her advantage, she knew there was no way whoever was following would follow her anymore, at least by car. The ally's only get smaller and darker from now on.
JUNPYO COME HOME NOW- his phone went on vibrating as he let go of the wheel relaxed his body to land against the seat while his eyes stayed on the dark figure ahead that was walking to the fence ahead. As though he needed another move of her to be fascinated by, she grabbed onto the top of the fence as she made a quick jump past the fence.
While he was still processing his frustration at the fact she had just won, she disappeared into the dark alley.
