Hey, Y'all. Thank you for the comments and all the love for Jihoo, seems like he is the favorite :)
"Good Morning Seoul '' When the radio Dj started waking the city's citizens from their cozy sleeps under their warm blankets, Jandi was on the train to the other side of town. Sitting in the back seat, she joined the early birds that had to clock in before the sun peeking from the east warmed the city. Her eyes fixed on tiny raindrops trailing down the window; all she had to think about was the mission waiting for her on Friday. The world she had numbed herself from was becoming more difficult to wake up for yet another day, let alone find some meaning in it all. For anybody getting ready to say bye to their teenage years and enter their wild 20s, excitement would be one of the primary emotions, not dread and despair. Most would be enthusiastic, hopeful, and optimistic to join the adult world. Her rose-colored glass that was destroyed before she even hit 10, the beautiful world, and all it had to offer were paused before her age hit double digits. There was no room for optimism or hope in the world she lives in.
"You have to be optimistic to keep doing what you do," Mrs Kim, the lady that runs the restaurant they used as her address for school, always repeats to the girl who always has the same answer. It wasn't hope or seeing the beauty in the cursed world that keeps her from listening to the voice that tells her to just jump off a bridge and end it all. It was revenge. Nothing but unfiltered revenge was what kept her soul from leaving this palace. The people she has been living for had become ghost-like figures nobody could help find; every day was becoming bleak. The voice coming up with all types of ways for her to leave this earth with, gets louder with every day that passes by. Becoming even more appealing whenever she was alone and left to sit around people who had full lives and found joy and meaning in the little things. These dark thoughts she had started saving just for herself, were becoming threatening to her control freak mind that had given her an excuse to silence it all with. Tiny bits of revenge were good enough to keep her going. She might have a good one coming on Friday, and until then, the three minions had her attention.
By the time Wednesday rolled around she had hoped those jerks would return back to school. Monday and Tuesday, they had missed enough days. She had hoped it wasn't because they would think she would forget about it if she didn't see them. That type of immaturity, she couldn't even imagine they would use; she expected them to be back to school today. The early morning meeting Jihoo had ordered all council members to attend; she was one of the few students to arrive on campus before even staff. All her stuff was placed in her locker, and she headed to the council office. Always known to be on time, if not early, she wasn't surprised there wasn't anybody in the office. Walking to Jihoo's office, she knocked before entering. His car never parked in the VIP designated parking lot but in the back, along with everybody else; it was hard to tell if he was there. The empty office she walked to, she knew he was already there as she headed to his desk and the two coffee cups sitting at the corner. The tea he gets for her and his morning coffee, both were used in their tiny morning routine as she picked up the one with the "not coffee" written across and a disgusted face on it. It might not have been even half a smile, but it had gotten a reaction out of her as she recalled how he had reacted when she said she hated the taste of coffee and found it disgusting. Everything she says he remembers very well, he had made it a thing to put her reaction on the tea he gets her every morning.
" You know I can fine them for being late," his voice forced her to turn her eyes back to the door and not the great view he had from his desk.
" They still have 10 minutes, but still," he added
"Good morning," she greeted him. Jihoo, stopping his hands that were placing the documents he collected, turned her way.
" Good morning," his smile she needed to avoid; she sent her eyes to the warm tea in her hands. Seeing her in his office, standing by his desk first thing in the morning, would have been enough, but how she had started making sure he greeted her, Jihoo was finding it all beyond adorable. All her habits were adorable. Her hair she has been tying behind and her bang brushed away from her face, Jihoo had made sure not to say anything about the face she left visible. He knew she would revert back if he said anything about it. It didn't take much for him to learn how this girl did not do well with compliments, even general ones.
" You look better; what medication do you use?" Knowing how it was easier for her to accept it if he sent it with a question or hid it with a different focus, Jihoo was learning to be great at finding ways to lower her guard. Maybe one day he will get to a point where he could easily say what he really wants to say without worrying about making her uncomfortable.
" the bruises, they're healing fast" he clarified, pointing at his own face.
"It's a secret" Taking her first sip; she hid her tiny smile with the mug. There was something about starting the day with her favorite tea, she tried to get her mind to focus on that and not on the smile on his face.
" Now you're gatekeeping medication?"
" So I can't ask about your books, the music you listen to, what you like to eat ...what am I allowed to know"
" You see me eat lunch every day"
" That doesn't mean I know what you like to eat. Whenever I ask you, you give weird answers."
" Why do you care about what I eat?" She made sure to take small steps away from his desk and headed to the corner by the bookshelf. That had a better view of the garden, and she needed some space from Jihoo, who walked past her and headed towards his desk. His elegant perfume she got a sniff of, and she focused her eyes on the garden and not on his coat he was taking off.
" Because I want to know."
"Why?"
" Just because"
" Why are you so secretive about every little thing?" he added, focusing on the computer he turned on. He has a bunch of emails he has to send out before 9 am.
"Double identity?' His smiling eyes that always keep the conversation light-hearted, it was easy to notice how one could get addicted to them.
" Maybe I am a north Korean spy"
" Are you now?"
" My family would have gotten to you before you even walked into my office, if you were," Jihoo, reading through his email, had missed her sharp eyes that turned his way and stayed on him. It was a nice reminder for her of who his family is and the number of spies and agents they had around them. It would have been easy information they would have gotten a hold of, if she really was a North Korean spy. The political empire he comes from, she was sure his dad probably had agents and assassins on speed dial. The distance between the lives they lived and his world she could never be part of, Jandi was reminded of it all.
" Do you know how good you have to be to fake an identity to get into this school?" Jihoo, taking a sip of his coffee, had no idea what he was talking about. Her eyes turning to the garden, she recalled how long Ctrl and the whole team had worked to create the identity she lives with that had gotten her into a full scholarship ride to the school he just demanded impossible to get into. That girl that was beyond smart on her own, didn't need much studying to even pass the tests they made her take. Ctrl had everything that needed verification from her certificate to medical records, as he had proven how amazing he was at what he does. All the genius people their tight network included, it wasn't that hard to find scammers that could outsmart school administrators. Her fake identity she had become so used to, she could only imagine what will happen if Jihoo every finds out the girl she keeps buried in darken corner of her heart that has been come a cold coffin.
" Huh" Jihoo busily going through his email focused on the flagged emails while the girl standing by the corner was just enjoying her tea, her eyes focused on the grand garden she loves looking at. She's definitely going to be a plant mom or have a house with a huge garden. He had assumed the first few times she caught her standing by his desk, eyes religiously staring at the well kept garden of the school. The three staff the school had hired just to take off the garden and every tree and plant on campus, he has never seen any student be as awe of the grand campus as this girl. Her love for plants which he started wondering about if she takes care of plants as a hobby or had any at her home had led to what type of life she lived at home and who she was when she was in her safest place. Before his mind wandered off to anything else, as it had been doing whenever he was around this girl, Jihoo was learning to pull it back to reality.
" Are you still ready to curse those jerks if they come today?" Jihoo, who had been just as anxious while waiting for the minions to show up to campus, asked. His question disturbed the quiet they were enjoying, even he wasn't sure why he was bringing it up all of a sudden. What she will do to the people that attacked her, he has had enough time thinking about. All he was sure of was how he would use whatever he could to support her. He knew there was no way she could take them by herself. There was a reason everybody on campus was scared of those boys and it wasn't just because they had Woobin's backing. The menacing boys knew she wouldn't report to the school that won't do anything. He wasn't that surprised that she didn't report it to anybody. There was no use in it anyway. Thinking there was no way she could beat them, Jihoo had devised a couple of ideas on how he could help resolve this.
The diplomatic student president, his plans were always focused on the least damage and most peaceful way. The girl who can't handle those four boys by herself , he had hoped having them apologize and give her an opportunity to do what she wants with his backing would be the best way to go about it. How he was going to do that was not part of his plan yet but he was sure she would need his backing to even get the boys to not try to hit her again. Her words, he will never forget, Jihoo was quickly reminded of who she had asked him to start using his power for good. He could start by getting his best friend, the prince of the school to apologize. He needs to hear Junpyo say the words with his own ears. That one was not only for her but for him. The girl he had verbalized for them not to touch, he had accepted that being the reason he had caught both Junpyo and yijeong looking at Jandi a bit different than they used to; especially his best friend. The girl he had claimed to be his people, the news had even reached Woobin in the hospital room. Yijoeng couldn't keep that open to himself as he had shared about Jihoo's girl, which had now became the name for the mute girl.
" You could get anybody and you're choosing that ' Woobin's words had gotten Jihoo's sharp eyes to turn his way before he was reminded about not trying it with Jihoo.
" you're one to talk"Jihoo whispered enjoying the desserts they have brought to their friends hospital room.
" I am curious about how good she is so I am sure you will report once you get to third base" Woobin, finally being granted something he could use to annoy his friend with, continued. Yijeong was the only one laughing with woo bin, while Junpyo standing by the balcony past the open glass doors ,was silently enjoying his smoke.
" You could just pay her and get it done with , why do all this?" Woobin's question had gotten the fork Jihoo was using to stop mid air and turn to his friend. Jihoo knows woobin is the one he has to convince to never ever go near that girl. He also knew Woobin might start annoying her just to spite him.
" He brought her to eat with us, like he had her eating while sitting next to him" Yijeong, using the ice cream stick he was enjoying pointed at Junpyo. Woobin along with everybody's attention, shifted to Junpyo. Behind his hair flying left and right, they were expecting him to add onto the discussion. Brushing his hair back, all Junpyo did was turn his body towards the balcony, sending his back towards his friends.
" Junpyo is not going to say anything against Jihoo" Yijoeng stated a fact they all knew. Their friendship no matter how tight, both Woobin and Yijeong knew Jihoo was number one for Junpyo. He knew him longer and their friendship was a different type of relationship. Junpyo will never go against his friend. The disinterested friend who didn't care about anything, they had witnessed his deadly protective nature they witnessed once or twice when they were kids. The length Junpyo will go for his friend, all were aware of.
His best friend Junpyo would sacrifice his life for; the greatest test of their friendship that will challenge him to prove how much he will sacrifice for his friend's happiness was coming for him.
" Hyong wil let her into the circle if Jihoo starts dating her. Remember ho
" I might just do it so you can be uncomfortable everywhere you go.' Jihoo cut Yijeong's speech.
" Oh she really has you down bad" Woobin jumped in.
" There is something odd about that girl, I keep telling y'all" Yijeong, who nobody listens to, really had the best intuition.
"She probably had something done on him. She looks demonic '' Sitting facing the glass doors opened wide, Jihoo was the only one who caught Junpyo's head that turned towards Yijeong. His friend's eyes from Yijeong, landed on him before Junpyo turned his focuses back to the garden the balcony had a great view of.
" You know what ? this make sense"
" It's good for him to act out and try out different girls now and in college. He will need to have a clean reputation once he becomes a politician, so" Woobin defending him got Jihoo's attention back into the room.
" It is easier with girls like her, since they will shut their lips with a nice tip, and your dad doesn't have to worry about gossip. Girlfriends are harder to keep quiet."
" We should support you to try out all types of escorts or whatever she is "Jihoo getting ready to respond was silenced by junpyo's eyes he saw turn towards Woobin. The white smoke gushing from his lips and his dark hair flying to the wind, Junpyo looked a bit intimidating with his sharp eyes that were sent to the one lying on the hospital bed. His hair brushed aside, Junpyo returned his eyes back to the garden, while Jihoo was reminded of what his best friend had done and the plan Jihoo had come up with to have him apologize tomorrow.
Tomorrow being Wednesday, Jihoo was sitting on his desk asking Jandi about her plan to make sure he aligns his plan with her before either Junpyo or those minions arrived on campus.
" Can we not talk about them?" she asked, turning her eyes to the garden. She just wanted to enjoy some minutes in peace. Unlike him, she wasn't sure of what she would do when she saw their faces. She might choose to end the childish games by ignoring it all until it is her last day or blow up and cause serious damage. She wasn't sure which way she would go, and she saved it when she saw their faces. Which, luckily for all, was decided by the heavens to be today. While Jihoo and her were busy with their council meetings, the minions had arrived on campus followed by Junpyo that arrived 10 minutes before the bell rang for morning class. His usual look was back as, he matched his black hoodie back with the black jeans and the black shirt he had underneath. Yijeong who had grabbed him the coffee he will need to stay awake for the first two classes, Junpyo was welcomed with Yijeong's questions about the glasses Junpyo had on. "Were you drinking last night?" Yijeong asked. Junpyo who left their dinner at the hospital claiming to meet up with his girlfriend, Yijeong was sure Junpyo had a wild night to look this tired and gray. His friend's questions he ignored, Junpyo had sat in the back corner of his class uninterested in whatever was going on with the class. The only reason he had stopped by school today, the news reached him in second class as his phone vibrating got his attention.
They are here - The text he had been waiting for since Monday was finally here and just like him, Jihoo's phone had vibrated as one of his assistants from the same class as the minions had texted him about the boys he had been asking about. The text Jihoo received was swallowed with the fake smile he extended to his lab partner before he placed his phone in his pocket and continued with their experiment. While the two men were playing various scenarios of how today might go, the girl who was at the center of it all wasn't aware of any of it as she just sat in her class. Her classwork she was already done with, she was busy studying the exit plans for the mission waiting for her on Friday. Totally lost in her own world, she wasn't ready for a first that was going to make her a target her classmates that already didn't like her.
" hey" Jihoo's voice forced her to look up from the locker she was grabbing her stuff from, Jandi's startled eyes landed on him before shifting to her classmates who all had their eyes on the student president standing by the freak girl.
"What are you doing here?" her voice as low as a whisper, she asked.
" Wanted you for something," leaning against the locker next to hers, he turned his body towards the students he knew he could have backed off if he just looked at them.
" Hi everyone" He sent his famous smile to her classmate that started doing things and act like they weren't frozen looking at the two people at the back of the class.
" We are not doing anything to our new council members are we?" he asked, sending his hands to his pocket. His smile was scary when followed by the look he had on his face. His threat he knows how to mask well, Jihoo wasn't only leaving her classmates stunned but Jandi as well. He really was becoming bold with his threats to protect her.
" I could just come there. I" her whisper was cut short
" I wanted to pick you up, is that okay?" knowing she was quiet and more reserved in front of people, Jihoo was using the opportunity to his advantage. The boys that were on campus, Jihoo had a tight plan and being by her side when she ran into them was the main one. Her class he has never been to, it was cute to see her desk and looker too. The girl who doesn't like having any attention on her, he had assumed it to be shyness as Jandi just shoved everything in her locker and started leading them out of her class. The laptop in her hands, she wasn't even worried about not having her lunch box as she quickened her steps.
" bye" Jihoo hadn't failed to give her classmates a smile and another shock as he headed out.
"Can you not do that"
" I don't like being bullied by girls on top of the boys" Jandi still startled by what had happened shared her honest opinion she hadn't filtered.
" Why would the girls pick on you now?" playing dumb jihoo asked as he caught up to her quick steps.
" because you're" she stopped herself as she caught his smiling eyes waiting for her to confess her true feelings. The hesitation he witnessed, Jihoo knew her guard was just lifted up and he wasn't going to get his answer.
"I thought our meeting was in 30 minutes"
" We're going this way" he redirected them to the elevator ahead. Jandi used to follow him around and didn't even question anything as she got in the elevator. His uniform coat he didn't have on was the only clue she should have needed to question what was waiting for them. Jihoo, who wasn't sure if this was a great plan, couldn't even imagine what would happen at the swimming pool he was leading her to. The sound proof he had assumed will be a great place as not a single student will be around there around lunch time to see or hear anything.
"This way" the right turn they made, Jandi knew they were headed to the gym. The place she hadn't been in since the attack. Jihoo had caught how her left hand holding the laptop had tightened with every step they took closer. He knows enough to realize how traumatizing this could be but he had hoped his presence will have some effect. That was what he was banking on even for what would happen in the swimming pool. His presence was what he was resting on as a safety net to disarm the boys and let her do what she wanted. He was fully blinded by it all to remember how much the boys who didn't like him, could retaliate. He was so unaware that the person the boys would be scared of was the girl walking next to him. The girl that had whipped them with their own belts, the three boys didn't need Jihoo to be there to be scared of being in a secluded space with Jandi. The only person that hadn't accepted their defeat was their leader and he wasn't going to back down because of Jihoo. Even if he didn't have Junpyo's backing, the leader would challenge Jihoo, who he hated so much.
"What are we doing here" as they walked in the swimming pool, Jandi asked. Jihoo walked to the pool chairs, glanced at the time on the wall. They were early.
" Why do you swim everyday?" Not knowing how to stall for time he asked. His worry on the fact that the boys might not even respond to his request to be here, Jihoo lead them to the chairs.
" water is very calming" her honest response, for once he was getting a clue of the things she enjoys but Jihoo's focus was on something else to keep this in the box of things he associates with her .
"Thats odd cus I don't like it that much and it's a bit scary"
" Why scary?"
" I had an incid" His words were cut short when the door from the other side was banged open.
" Why are you here?" The leader of the minions was the one that shouted as he made out Jihoo sitting by the chairs, he hadn't seen the girl seated next to Jihoo.
"Oh this is nice, why don't we swim often" the boys behind him were more occupied with the beautiful swimming pool as they continued their walk towards Jihoo in the distance, standing up.
" You can't just call us like we're servants you know '' One of the minions was the only one to vocalize their annoyance with what they were doing there. Jihoo, not even listening to anything they were saying, turned his eyes to the girl sitting next to him. Her eyes from the boys shifting his way, Jihoo caught how her relaxed face had turned robotic in a second. The laptop still in her hand, she slowly stood up.
" Why are we here?" one of the boys asked , they got their answer as they saw the girl standing up ,while Jihoo moved out of her view to stand next to her. He needs to be besides her.
" Look who we have here" the leader, sending his hands to his pocket, smirked. He was the only one smiling. The boys behind him looked shocked as they kept their eyes on the girl who's sharp eyes scanning them they recognized very well. The demonic looking girl, who they all knew could go crazy, they waited in silence for what was going to happen. The tension that took over the swimming pool, only Jihoo wasn't aware of it's full backstory. He had assumed it was because of what happened on Friday.
" Junpyo told us to do it. '' One of the boys, anxious about the girl who's scary looking eyes he couldn't read, spoke out. Jihoo, biting his own tongue, turned his eyes to Jandi. He was getting ready to explain what his friend actually asked of them but his words floated away as he caught her horrifyingly focused eyes on the boys. How her adorable face had turned petrifyingly dark he didn't understand. Jihoo's eyes lowered their focus to her, her blood thirty fingers tightly squeezing the laptop in her right hand. Even her posture had changed as his mind whispered Yjjeong's words about her being demonic.
" We were just trying to scare her off"
" we weren't going to do anything" the boys trying to explain were silenced by their leader who didn't deem it necessary.
" What do you want?" He asked for Jihoo's attention to turn to him. Jihoo, who kept getting surprised by this boy's audacity, was collecting shocking moments one after another.
" I hope it's not for us to apologize to the bitch. '' The leader was sure he had finally gotten under Jihoo's skin. Just the look on Jihoo's angry face was enough to let him know. The three boys, a bit scared by what was going on, knew it wasn't a great idea to add Jihoo to the list of people they could fight. He was not only part of F4 ,he was the student president.
" What did you call her?" Jihoo taking his first step forward had made the first mistake, leaving the ticking bomb girl behind him alone. Jandi, having an internal battle with her own demons, wasn't even in the same space as them. The darkness that had started turning the whole place gray, she was fighting herself to swallow it all down and prove her world class training to be the best. Her mind fighting the grand battle against all the voices that were whispering for her let it all out and bring her true self to form, the temptation was itching at every inch of her skin. The camera around the pool, being used as the great excuse, she was trying really hard to calm her body that was ready to draw the first blood. There were thousands of reasons but what followed the camera was Jihoo. Not letting Jihoo see her go crazy, was used as an excuse to have her find her inner zen and send her demons back to their cage. Why it was necessary to hide her truest form from Jihoo was a puzzle that will take heartbreaks to understand.
They are not worth it.
None of this is worth it.
The calm voice begging her to back down, was starting to outweigh all other voices and calm her body down.
" The school president is defending prostitutes now" the leader was beyond ready to fight Jihoo.
" Your friend told us to" The minions, knowing they have to diffuse the situation, jumped in.
" Junpyo is trying to protect you" one of the boys gave Jihoo a statement he will waste hours to understand and one that had him shift his focus from the one he wants to punch.
" Does Junpyo know you are doing this behind his back?' The leader asked a question even the three behind him were curious about. Jihoo, who always saves these scholarship kids, they were curious why his best friend lets him get away with it.
" Does he know you have stopped low enough to mess with that?" The leader's weird smirk pointed at Jandi, the three boys that tried to hide their smiles were quick to step back when they saw Jihoo coming their way. His angry face they were witnessing for the first time, they were lost on that to catch Jandi's left hand that grabbed Jihoo's arm and held him back from taking any steps further. Her grip tightened as she pulled back even harder, when he tried again. She didn't need anybody fighting her battles, but more than that she didn't want the only person who was nice to her on this campus to dirty his hands trying to protect her. His reputation he was willing to risk, she wasn't.
" Were you planning to use him to get an apology? '' Lowering himself to catch her eyes, the leader asked. All the boys standing steps away focused their eyes on the sinister-looking eyes of Jandi.
" Maybe we should just apologize" One of them had the right idea.
" We didn't do anything wrong, did we?" the leader lowering his head again directed his question at her.
" If you don't apologize
" We are not apologizing for shit" Jihoo's words were interrupted by the leader who was enjoying this side of Jihoo.
" Maybe we should" the whispers of the scared boys behind him were silenced by the sound they heard behind them and the man who walked in, his presence giving them the confidence they never had. Their bolded eyes from the door, turned to Jihoo.
" Now, what?" the leader turning his eyes from Junpyo who walked in back to Jihoo whispered, his face filled with smiles. Jihoo's rage filled eyes were focused on every step Junpyo was taking towards them. He had made sure Junpyo had something else to do and the startled look on Jihoo was a result of realizing the boys were probably the ones who called for the Junpyo who had given them the permission to begin with. His best friend he has had private conversations with about these minions, Jihoo wasn't ready to do it publically. Junpyo who always stayed out of these things, Jihoo would never expect him to be here and wasn't even remotely prepared or ready to fight against his friend today.
" Hyong is here so why don't you ask him to apologize to your bitch as well? '' The leader started the giggle his boys followed. Jihoo, focused on his best friend taking the slow steps towards the group, was slow to turn his attention to the boys.
" or do you want to just fight it out? '' The leader taking two steps stood a step away from Jihoo, looking at him dead in the eye. The confidence that came with knowing Junpyo had their back , was something else. The tension between the two, it was clear to all that the leader of the minions was going to fight Jihoo one of these days, if not today.
" back the fuck up" Junpyo's voice cut through the clear tension that had taken over the two boys that looked like they were seconds away front throwing hands. The leader of the F4 they didn't know well; they had assumed his command was for his best friend and not for them. Jihoo was the only one that knew, no matter what, Junpyo had his back, and his words were for the leader of the minions that had dared to step up to him.
" You heard him, back up" The leader, who had leaned forward while pulling his right hand out of his pocket to touch Jihoo, should have known better than to dare touch Jihoo in front of Junpyo, let alone the girl everybody seems to have forgotten about. Her quick steps all missed; the only thing they caught was Jihoo she had pushed aside and the laptop that came for the leader's head. The silver Mac that landed against his head had him screaming loud and missing his step. The sight of blood coming from his hair only freaked out the three boys behind him. Jandi sent the laptop against his neck, this one landing him on the floor.
" YA" the three boys leaning down to grab their friend were as quick as Jihoo who stepped fast and grabbed the girl by her waist before she landed the laptop against anybody else. Her tiny body he had underestimated, Jihoo was quick to learn to use both his hands and hold her back by her stomach , holding her tight against himself.
" Stop stop" he whispered at her ear as he shifted his eyes form the blood covered face of the boy on the floor to her alarming hands holding the laptop followed by her frightening eyes.
" She is crazy"
" what the fuck did you do" one of the boys screaming as he that turned her way, Jihoo was quick to tighten his grip against her body that almost jumped away from his grip.
" Stop," he whispered, taking a step back and pulling her along. Her back held tight to his chest, Jihoo didn't even know why helping her calm down became the most important thing to do. Her shaking body held against him, he didn't even know what it was but he could feel the rage that was all over the body he was tightly holding back from unleashing whatever it was that had her shaking like this.
" Its okay" leaning closer to her ear and trying to get her attention away from the boys her terrifying eyes were staring at, Jihoo's low voice whispered.
" You bitch" the leader, brushing the blood away from his face, finally stood up. Jihoo had mistakenly assumed it was the word bitch that had triggered her as her body was trying to escape his grip again. Her right hand trying to unwrap his arms, he grabbed and held it back.
" Jandi , stop" His low voice finally got a reaction as she turned her head, and her eyes landed on him.
" Please calm down" his pleading eyes that were scared and worried only about her, Jihoo whispered begging. His voice that almost sounded like Bom was the startling thing that got her attention and paused her body for a split second as she was reminded of her rage she needs and had power to control.
" You think you can do this and get away" the leader aiming for her hair he was planning to grab failed at his mission. Her body in fight mode, she was beyond fast to notice any hands coming her away. His hand she avoided, before she did anything else Jihoo came in.
" No. No" Jihoo used his arms to move her behind him. Her right hand he still had a hold of, he held her behind him as he used his body to shield her away from the leader standing right in front of him. He wasn't just protecting her from the blood-covered boy but from herself. Jihoo didn't know anything else except he had to do whatever to stop it for her sake.
" fuck you too" the leaders right hand that was aiming for Jihoo was grabbed by somebody behind him. The two boys standing behind had moved away as they caught, Junpyo's hand holding their leader. One of the boys grabing a towel from the pool chairs, even he had halted his steps when he caught what Junpyo did.
"OMO" the loud screams were from the two boys that weren't ready for their leader to be sent to the floor by one punch. The quiet leader of the F4 everybody silently accepted to be the king of the school, they were witnessing why as Junpyo didn't even give the boy trying to stand up a chance as he kicked him into the cold water. His right leg that landed against their friend's chest before he sent him flying to slash into the swimming pool, the two stunned boys weren't ready for Junpyo's spine-chilling eyes to turn their way. The daunting energy emanating from the boy that didn't have to say anything but kept his petrifying dark eyes on them, they only needed one look to back the fuck away and start apologyzing.
" SORRY
"SORRY. SO SORRY" their almost cry sounding apologies were followed by their stumbling legs that started running away. Even the minion that had walked to grab the towel had dropped it and ran out of the room.
Jihoo, taking in another moment that had left him too stunned even to react, hadn't noticed how his grip on the girl behind him had loosened. His eyes on his best friend, he caught the step Junpyo took toward the boy that was trying to get out of the pool and kicked him back in. The blood mixed in with the clear water of the pool, it was only Jihoo that was concerned with what was going on. It was beyond cornering. His best friend that doesn't even like fighting with words, punching somebody, was beyond shocking and alarming. Just the punch would have been shockingly puzzling but the kicks he witnessed, Jihoo wasn't even sure if the person that swung the bloodcovered body into the water was the best friend he claimed to know so well. Jihoo, who will take what Junpyo was doing as his best friend trying to defend him; he really had no idea what was even going on with his best friend, let alone why Junpyo, who he had never ever seen like this, was doing this for. Even doing all of this to defend Jihoo sounded crazy but that was the only reason. That was the only way Jihoo's confused mind would justify what just happened.
" What?" Jihoo had asked as Junpyo finally turned his attention to his friend. Jihoo had thought he had his friend's focus but Junpyo's eyes were directed to the girl standing behind him.
" What the fuck is going on?" Jihoo asked , his puzzled and unnerved eyes needing some second to recognize that Junpyo's focus was on the girl behind him. Jihoo's brain not even able to compute, he just turned his eyes to Jandi, who his paralyzed hands have let go of.
" I am sorry" He heard his friend's raspy voice which forced his attention back to his friend. The sincerity and guilt he could easily make out in Jupyo's voice, Jihoo focused on the apologetic eyes of his friend he had never ever seen before. Another first for the night, Jihoo was completely lost in the honest and visible emotions his friend was displaying. It has been years. Jihoo had counted days after days, leading up to years. Years of watching his best friend turn into a depressed robot that does not react to anything. No visible emotions except the ones he fakes to keep everyone from bothering him. Jihoo, who had been the only one to see underneath it all, had watched his friend turn into a numb person that even wild parties and drugs couldn't bring back to feeling things. The heart stopping revelation of emotion he was witnessing on his friend, Jihoo hadn't even noticed the girl that walked past him until she stood in front of his best friend and her right hand landed on Junpyo's face.
The slap that echoed through the swimming pool, had even shocked the blood covered boy doing everything to stay afloat. Her right hand that landed on his cheek, Junpyos face was swung to the other side , followed by his hair that landed right at the bruning skin she left her finger print on. The pain that left his face and started spreading around was silenced quickly as Junpyo returned his face back to her. Her blood red eyes were the only thing he returned to as he easily made out her rage and hatred was deeper than he had assumed.
" Am sorry" his voice was lower than ever as he apologized again. He could not return time to undo everything they had done, including her precious shoe he had burned. If he had a chance to, he would do anything to turn back time but no. That wasn't how any of this worked and what was done was done. He could only apologize and hope she will accept it somehow. The world that he was used to bending his way, he was getting a tiny test of reality as, forgetting accepting his apology, her right hand came from him again; landing another slap at the same spot. Biting his own lip, the emotion Junpyo held in wasn't anger or pain from the sharp slap he had received. The boy that had never been slapped receiving two in a minute, he would never have imagined he would be willing to accept even more if it means he could erase the hatred bubbling in her eyes. The man that has never been hit by even his mother, the slaps he silently accepted was considered an insignificant price to pay. His willingness to be slapped around was just the first of all the things he would be willing to do to have her eyes explain why they hate him so much.
" I didn't '' His words were silenced by her eyes that warned him to swallow whatever he had to say back. Sending him one last warning not to bother her, Jandi turned around and started her walk away. Her quick steps, she had even ignored Jihoo as she tightened her grip on the laptop in her left hand and headed to the door at the corner. Her right hand that had landed the slaps was starting to burn. Her breathing she was trying to regulate, she ordered her body to shut down. She needs to shut everything down before the ant-like pinches happening all over her body became prominent enough for her to acknowledge them as a result of Junpyo's eyes that had poked through her thick wall. His sincere apology and guilt, she decided to remove from memory. It was easier to keep him as the devil he was, if she erased what just happened. Shut it all down, the command was given to silence every and any emotion she was being forced to process. Focused on herself, she didn't even react to Jihoos voice.
" Jandi wait" Jihoo choosing to go after her before he even said anything to Junpyo, was more painful that the slap he received as Junpyo kept his eyes to the girl walking away and Jihoo following her behind.
Taking deep breaths, Junpyo stood there, eyes following the two people increasing the distance away from him.
" I will kill you. '' Junpyo turned his eyes from the door that two people walked past to the boy getting out of the swimming pool. The leader of the minions who has learned his lesson about never daring to fight Jihoo, expected to be warned never to challenge Jihoo but who he was being threatened for and who he was punched and kicked for would leave him more confused and shocked than watching the girl considered a nobody slap Junpyo.
" If you ever touch her again" Junpyo added, letting his eyes do all the convincing as the boy standing by the edge of the pool, terrified and shocked, slipped and landed back in the pool.
