As soon as he left the room, I sat up in bed, and pulled out my phone, scrolling through my personal contacts before finding the correct one.
I debated whether or not to call for a few seconds, before I slid my thumb across the screen, before bringing it up to my ear, listening to the line ring as I made my way towards the chair.
"You're alive." Tia snips as soon as she picks it up.
"Yeah, unfortunately, I am, T. Change of plans. The head table has decided to lend us a hand by providing intel, men, and firearms. Looks like things are about to get more interesting." I informed her.
She gasped, "I take it you told your boy-toy the situation we have at hand?" She asked, teasingly.
I rolled my eyes at her tone and sighed, "I had to. I'm not exactly getting smaller." I replied.
"Of course not, at the rate you're going, you might as well have swallowed an entire tub of Greek yogurt." She quipped. "Should we be expecting company soon then?" She inquired curiously.
"Possibly. Give the rest of the ladies a heads-up, please. Inform them of the current circumstances, and have them start the search. Today. I need a location on King and Othonos, as quickly as you can." I told her.
"Will do, B." She said, with a sigh. "I just hope they don't shoot the messenger." She added softly.
"If they do, I'll shoot them back," I promised.
She let out an amused chuckle, before sighing again, "Well, I suppose I should go and tell them now..," She told me, unenthusiastically.
I hummed in response, as I rubbed a hand over my stomach, and a new idea came to me. "T? Wait," I told her, catching her before she hung up..
"What is it, Be?" She asked me
"Hold off on telling the ladies. I need you to look something up first." I told her.
I could feel her confusion from my location as I waited for her response.
"What is it?" She finally asked me.
I realized there was a bug. I needed to take care of this before it endangered us all.
"I need you to..." I began as the door opened. "I'll call you back later. Do the second thing I asked you to if I don't get back to you in two hours. Tell them." I told her before hanging up.
I looked there for a second before going to find Edward to tell him of my suspicions.
He gave me a disbelieving look before he pulled out a burner phone from his desk and made a call.
"Are you sure about this, uccellino?" He asked me after he told the person on the line of my suspicions.
I nodded, "Yes, it makes sense. Someone on the inside of both organizations has betrayed us… I could be wrong, and if I am, I will take the fault. But it-it makes sense. How else did Othonos and King find our exact locations? And try to interfere with your business deals and other things?" I asked.
A look crept over his face as he nodded to what the person was saying.
"It seems like it's time to clean house, Jenks." He said, "Call my brothers and tell them to meet me at the penthouse. No one else, not yet." He says before hanging up.
I stared at him, as he moved his hands on my hips and gently pressed his ear to my stomach.
"I will do everything and anything to protect you and your mama, uccellino mio." He vowed.
"You're calling them like me now?" I asked, raising a brow as I brought up my hands to my waist.
"No, I'm not. I simply changed yours." He told me matter-of-factly.
I tilted my head, smiling at him, "Is it something cheesy like 'baby, or sweetie'?" I asked mockingly. "Because if it is, I'll puke on you." I threatened.
He snorts and shakes his head, "No. But I can call you that if you want." He replied, rolling his eyes at me.
"Okay, one, I am not someone who likes being called baby, or sweetie. Those names are for women who like cheesiness." I told him.
He chuckled and shook his head, "Of course. So, what do you want to be called then?" He asked, sarcastically.
"How about something along the likes of the light of my eyes or my reason for living?" I teased.
He smiled, "Vita Mia, cuore mia it is." He replied. (My life, my heart)
I blinked in surprise as he began chuckling and stood up to kiss my forehead. "Wah-" I began.
He sighed as he sat on the edge of his desk, and held my hands in his, "The last few months without you served me to realize how much you truly mean to me. I don't ever want to feel like that again. That is why I called you that. You along with our little bambino are my life, and when you're ready to admit that you love me too, I'm going to make you my wife." He told me, simply, smiling when I made a sound that resembled a choking moose.
I could feel my heartbeat pick up as the words he spoke resounded in my head.
How could he still love me after everything?
"I can see the little wheels in your head turning, mi amore, but you don't need to panic, I understand that you are not ready yet. I can wait." He promised me, his accent get thicker as he spoke. (my love
I blinked, before nodding, "Okay." I whispered, blinking hard. "Stupid hormones," I mumbled.
He smiled at me again, "God, I'm really going to enjoy this." He mumbled as he reached up to wipe my face.
"That is not funny." I mumbled, frowning.
"It is. But I can see why you would think that it isn't." He quipped as he stood up and led me out of his office. "Let's go feed you two." He told me.
He led me to the kitchen and sat me down, smiling at me before he turned away to get a plate of food, setting it down in front of me.
I frowned as he showed me the plate of caponata, and while I love when he makes me food, today, the very sight of the eggplants, onions, tomatoes, olives, pine nuts, and capers, along with the smell of vinegar had my stomach churning.
I tried to smile but as the smell hit my nose, I could only swallow thickly before cupping a hand over my mouth and rushing in the direction the bathroom. Barely managing to reach the bathroom before I felt the bile go up my throat.
When I made my way back to the kitchen sheepishly, he gave me an apologetic smile, shaking his head, as Jasper and Emmett sat there scarfing down the food that was supposed to be for me.
"You okay, vita mia?" He asked me as he slowly moved to pull me into his embrace.
"Yeah… I thought this was only supposed to happen in the morning, why the hell am I still throwing up if it's close to three in the afternoon?" I grumbled.
Jasper looked up, slowly reaching up to wipe his mouth before he held up a finger, "Morning sickness is actually just nausea, you can have it all day, I have no idea why they named it morning sickness… it's ridiculous since I know my mother had nausea all day throughout her pregnancy, while she was pregnant with Edward." He replied, smiling.
I stared horrified, "It- It can last all- all day?" I asked quietly, trying to contain my horror.
He nodded, "Worst case scenario it lasts until the second trimester. Hopefully." He shrugs, nonchalantly.
Edward throws something at him and shakes his head, mumbling idiot at him as he hugs me tighter.
"Don't worry, vita mia. I'm sure yours won't be as ba- shit." He said as he realized what he just said.
"Wait. Bella's pregnant?" Emmett asked, in disbelief.
Both, Edward and I, exchanged a look before he sighed and turned to look at them.
"Yes, she is. But we aren't going to tell anyone until this shit is handled. We can not risk her being in more danger than she already is, is that understood?" He asked them.
They nodded before Emmett suddenly turned to grin at me.
I frowned, "What?" I asked, keeping my face blank.
"Nothing, it's just I sort of always knew you'd wind up being my sorellina. I'm glad Edward found you. I like seeing him happy." He tells me.
I smiled, "Sore-llina? Is- Is that- Doesn't that mean sister?" I asked, turning to look at Edward, who nodded, giving Emmett a look.
I turned back to Emmett with a smile, "Thanks, I always wanted a brother. I'll be happy if I ever get one, that's someone with the likes of you." I told him, causing him to smile as Jasper cleared his throat.
"You're awesome too," I added, teasingly, causing them to laugh.
"I can't wait to see what Aro says when he finds out that we knew about this," Jasper commented, suddenly amused.
Edward rolled his eyes at them before leaning down to press his lips on my temple. "Do you want something to eat? I think I've got some pasta salad my mother brought me the other day." He told me.
I nodded, "Pasta salad sounds good." I told him.
Once we ate, all three men disappeared into the office as I made my way back into the bedroom, feeling exhausted.
Without hesitation, I climbed into bed, wrapping the comforter around myself, before closing my eyes.
My mind immediately went to the month before I left.
One Month Ago:
We had been compromised.
Someone had found the location and went through it.
Everything was destroyed, well what was visible. What wasn't was fine. Tia had built a secret compartment that held all the hard copies of all our devices, gadgets, weapons, and phones. We all had the actual devices locked in this room.
The cameras had caught everything, clueing us into who had done this.
But that didn't make us feel better. In fact, it pissed us all off.
My mind was whirling as I made my way through what was left of the Nest.
The visible room, anyway.
As Tia and I made our way through the room, until we found what we were looking for.
Tia and I exchanged amused smirks as we stared at the unmistakable watch.
"Othonos did it, and looks like he had a little help from King," I told Tia as I showed her the silver Cartier watch.
"Who leaves behind a watch?" She asked, raising a brow at me.
"Othonos." I sighed with a head shake.
"This is the brand he wears. He thinks it makes him important. It just cheapens the brand though." I told her rolling my eyes at the ceiling.
Tia scoffed and shook her head as I wrote something in my hand. She leaned in frowning, before looking at me in wide disbelief.
"Really?" She asked.
I nodded, "We need to speak to everyone about this. Immediately. But not here." I told her.
She nodded before picking up her tablet and pressing a few things before silently following me toward the door.
All of us gathered at the only other place left for us to speak freely. My old home.
I began to explain to them my suspicions, that there was a mole in Edward's crew, hinting that there may be one in the Nest as well, smiling when everyone besides the suspected mole realized it.
"So, how will we be helping them?" Rose asked.
I smiled, "Well, I had an idea… so, here's the plan." I told them.
