There wasn't very much light in the cell. Though as far as a cell it was quite large. It had some comforts, though the occupants avoided them as much as possible. There was nothing positive to them. The occupants just stuck to one corner as much as possible, only leaving it to eat, or if the older was forced. The room wasn't sound proof though.
"Mama, is something happening outside," the little girl was dirty, her skin splotchy and pale from never seeing sun once in her life.
"I don't know, Baby. I don't know," The older woman, even with the ravages of time and captivity, was still attractive.
Her skin was in the same condition as the girl's. Her muscles were slack from not moving often, her arms and legs perpetually stiff. The rags that made up her shirt showed that what was probably once a very impressive bust, had flattened from malnutrition. Regardless though her scarlet orange eyes had a dangerous, defiant glint as a hand raised to touch a collar that bit into her neck.
"I'm scared. I don't like these sounds. Do you think they will bring food soon, or are the sounds going to stop them from bringing it," the girl asked.
"I don't- get behind me, Baby," she shuffled the girl behind her as the door started to flex.
She knew the sounds were some kind of combat. It didn't sound like Fairy Tale had come out on top, which didn't bother her any. She hated them more than anything. The only thing positive that had ever come from them was her daughter, even if the way they had given her the child was so horrible and cruel. What ever had destroyed them was probably more cruel and terrifying to be able to tear a door like that from its frame.
"Amethyst, whatever happens, know I love you," tears started to flow down her cheeks, and the short burst of adrenaline was too much as she began to feel fatigued.
The door continued to flex. It was designed to contain her in the time before they were able to seal her magic away. Anything that could do this, would have to have been as strong as him. It couldn't be him though, they made sure that he wouldn't know to look for her. It couldn't be anything friendly, not here. As the groans of the resisting metal became louder, she started to hear to young voices. They sounded strangely familiar.
The door finally gave way. Light flooded into the room and she had to squint to avoid the worst of the pain it caused. She heard heavy breathing, and as her eyes adjusted she was confused. She expected some kind of dragon, giant, or demon. Instead there stood two teenagers. One slightly hunched over, seemingly out of breath.
The tall boy stood up fully, and the girl ran into the room calling, "Aunt Ruby, thank all the gods."
The words surprised her. Aunt Ruby. How long had it been since she had been called that. A name that always made her tear up with pride and happiness. All the children of her dearest friends, all the love they gave. They never had anything but smiles around her. Was this what she was seeing as see died. Something that would make her feel happiness.
She looked at the figure, and was shocked at the girls breasts, "Harumi. With boobs like that, it has to be. That means," she looked at the boy, "Tekeshi," she said as darkness overtook her.
Tekeshi crossed to the woman with fear on his face, "Aunt Ruby, it is Tekeshi. Can you hear me, please wake up."
The two teens looked up and saw the girl as she joined their efforts, "Mama, wake up. Mama, please, don't leave me alone."
"Harumi, grab the girl. We have to her to Aunt Yukari now, I think she is suffering from severe malnutrition, if her body isn't strong enough, it might not be able to stand up to the strain an adrenaline rush can cause when flight or fight is activated."
"Come here, you and your mother are going to be safe," Harumi reached over and took the girl's hand as Tekeshi picked up the unconscious woman and pressed himself against the succubus as he snapped his fingers.
"Tsukune, I am worried. How could you let Tekeshi take Harumi like that? How could you not stop him? Harumi isn't a hardened warrior like he is, she only talks tough," Kurumu was frantic with worry.
"Kurumu, don't worry like that. All the children are fighters. We had to raise them like that, because of things like this. You know that Tekeshi would die before he let anyone harm one of the girls, have faith in him. You know that I would trust him with Yusa and Asusa without any hesitance," Mizore hugged her friend tightly as she tried to comfort her.
"If I lose her, not only will I die, but then the last bit of Heath in this world is gone. That isn't a world I even want to see in my worst fears. I am so scared right now," The succubus' makeup was an utter mess.
Moka went over and joined the hug, "Just have faith. I never thought that Tekeshi could ever be as strong as he has shown himself to be. I know he will bring both of them back, I know it without a doubt. This isn't him disappearing out of nowhere, this is him on a mission."
"You know we have faith in your teaching Harumi to fight like your people. She is as strong as any of the girls. She had to stand up to Asusa when Tekeshi left to live with Yukari. If she can stand up to that little ice bitch of a daughter of mine, she can stand up to Fairy Tale," Mizore never let up any of the pressure of her hug.
"That's true. She could stand up to her. It really is hard to believe that Asusa is Tsukune's daughter as well. She has nothing of his personality in her," this made the two other women flinch back.
"Why would you think that the twins were Tsukune's daughters? Do you think either one of them would be stupid enough to have an affair with each other, with me being around. Surely you can't be that naive," Moka barely kept her composure.
"Moka, it's ok. I knew when they were born. I'm happy for you Mizore, don't ever think otherwise. When I finally realized Heath was my destined one, I lost all of that unrequited love for Tsukune. Tsukune, I do still love you, but not as I thought I did years. I know how much you love Moka, so I'm guessing it was her idea, not yours or Mizore's," her slight smile was still accompanied by streams of tears.
Mizore nodded bashfully, "It was. Though to be clear she also joined in on the process. I thought at first that Tsukune didn't find me attractive, as he really didn't want to look at me during it."
Tsukune groaned from where he sat behind his desk, and Yukari just patted his back, "There, there. It was bound to come out at some point, though now I am jealous. I wanted the threesome with you and Moka. What gives?"
Tsukune sideyed the witch, "Yukari, one you are married. Two, it was never going to happen. Damn it. Please Tekeshi, please come back soon. I can't believe I didn't realize that something was up in a decade. How could I have been so damn stupid?"
"We were all fooled. If it wasn't Tekeshi who noticed, none of us would have. I mean, she didn't fly a lot after she got here, so we wouldn't have noticed. It was just a straight fluke that things turned out for him to even notice," Yukari said as she leaned back
"I know. I know. I shouldn't be this hard on myself. Everything just feels like it has started to fall apart, everything I have worked so hard for. Everything I have tried to accomplish so that our children can have a better life. Do you remember the year after we defeated Alucard," Tsukune said it for everyone, rather than just the younger woman.
All of them though about the time. It wasn't a great time, for humans or yokai. The riots, the pogroms, and murders from both sides. The decision to spend the next two years managing a campaign of misinformation, mass hypnosis, and modification of records to hide the larger knowledge of yokai to bring some level of sanity back. Tsukune was one of the many who only supported the plan reluctantly, and had wished there was another option that could have reasonably been put into play.
Moka walked over to her husband, "Don't put that on yourself. You were one of dozens who had to make that decision. It was, sadly, the best option that we had to make sure the violence that popped up didn't become worse than it did."
"Tsukune, you should be proud of how well you have carried on Mikogami's work here. Think about how much calmer things are here than we attended. I remember how much work the infirmary had then, and how many bodies were found," Yukari slipped into a more serious mood as she spoke.
"One year, led to almost twenty fallen behind. I had to raise a child to fight, and give him over to you to continue that. I had know that my daughters, even not knowing I was their father, were being trained to fight. Can any of you know how that affects me, having been a human? I hate everything that has been necessary, I can't wait to see the end of this war," Tsukune couldn't raise his head.
"Tsu- the magic circle," Kurumu started to speak as a gray light filled the room.
Eyes glued to the area as the four shapes became clear. The two blood covered teens, the small unhealthy girl, and the almost corpse like form of the older woman. Panic started to set in as the adults realized how bad the condition of one of their dearest friends was.
"Tekeshi, what's the initial," Yukari immediately went into triage mode.
"Malnutrition, muscular atrophy, possible complications from an adrenaline dump due to the first. She is unconscious, but is her breathing is steady, and her pulse is still strong," he gave her a rundown as he laid the woman on a couch in the room.
"Good, if her vitals are still strong we have a good chance of keeping them that way. Tsukune, get someone up here with a saline drip, a standard mix for malnutrition, and a gurney. I want to get her to the infirmary asap. Little girl, who are you to her, and what is your name," she remained clinical as she addressed the unknown girl.
The girl was hesitant as she was afraid until Harumi knelt down and reassured her, "I'm Amethyst. Is Mama going to be ok, I'm scared, and she stopped saying things."
Moka's mother instincts immediately kicked in, "She is going to be fine. Your mother is a very good friend of all of ours, and we won't let anything bad happen to her, or to you again. Are you hungry Amethyst," the girl nodded, "Let's go get you a snack. Mrs. Wong is going to have to take her away for awhile, as soon as she says she, oh my Yukari," before she could finish Amethyst passed out as well.
"She isn't doing much better than Ruby is right now, Tsukune make that two of everything. Tekeshi, thank god you don't listen to your parents, they may not have made it in this condition much longer without proper intervention," Yukari immediately started doing what she could to examine the girl.
Kurumu approached her daughter, "Harumi, are you ok, you look like such a mess. What were you thinking? You could have died, I could have lost you, lost myself, lost the last bit of your father there is. Thank you for bringing her home," while the words were coherent, the thought process wasn't completely.
"I am fine. You taught me well. I know I tried to resist learning to fight, but I am so glad that you didn't let me blow it off. I, didn't feel afraid, I didn't feel disgusted killing them. Are you proud of me for it," Harumi was starting to fully realize what she had been involved int.
"I am always proud of you. You are so much stronger than I thought, you have your father's heart. I know that he would be proud of you as well, proud of how willing you were to go to someone's rescue despite the risks there were to yourself. You are still going to be grounded when you come home for school holidays for the next year for being so stupid."
Moka and Tsukune stepped over to their son once the medical supplies were ordered, "You aren't getting away without being punished either. You did good though. I want to resist thinking of you as warrior, as a soldier, as anything other than just my son. I need to grow up, and remember that this isn't the kind of family that I grew up in. You are the son of one of the most powerful yokai houses there are, and this would be expected of you," Tsukune said as he looked his son in the eyes, pride written on his face.
Moka nodded, "I wish, that your grandfather could be here to see you now. You make all of us so proud. You embody what it truly means to be a vampire. I think that so many of our kind, they have honor, and loyalty, and seek only power beyond all. You brought her home, you saw through the charade, and you acted when we would have delayed to do something safer. Tekeshi, we should follow your example more."
Tekeshi was the only one awake. The room was probably more crowded than a hospital would have allowed. Nobody wanted to miss Ruby waking up though. Her friends, the children who had loved her so much, and even Utsuki had wanted to be there to meet the real Aunt Ruby. They were in chairs, propped against walls, and stretched out on the floor. Utsuki was currently using his lap as a pillow, as he had his back against the wall. Yukari had two beds pushed together, and the two put in together, thinking that it would make them more comfortable, and less likely to panic, when they woke.
A light moan was heard, "Aunt Ruby,"he said as he managed to move his friend without waking her.
He went over and sat on the side of the bed as Ruby's eyes opened, "Tekeshi, is that really you? I'm not just seeing something nice to help ease me into the afterlife, am I?"
"It is me. You look horrible, I should have done worse to those animals. Killing them clean was better than they deserved," he couldn't stop the anger from rising.
"All of them are dead? Good, the world has become a much better place."
"We only left two of them alive. They felt remorse, and had started before they even knew that we were there. They led us to where you were, and we had planned to kill them. Harumi even had her nails at the base of their skulls. We just couldn't kill them like that though, they weren't fighting, just surrendering to it. How do you feel?"
Ruby smiled, "Much better hearing that. I never thought that I would see any of you again. They forced an elf to take on my appearance, I don't know what they were using to make her. I knew that as long as I lived, your father and mother wouldn't have noticed anything. How did you?"
"Six."
"Six?"
Tekeshi took a deep breath, "You have six wings. She only had four. It was one of those things that, I really don't know how to explain it."
"Just something that fate decided must occur. How long did you know before you came for me?"
"Less than an hour. I had to use a forbidden form of mind reading to take where you were from her, I hadn't planned to even take Harumi. She just unintentionally invited herself. I kept with my magic studies, and to her credit, the elf taught me well when she was there to. Take a look around the room."
Ruby raised her head enough to see all the sleeping occupants of the room. She started to momentarily panic until she heard the girl breathing next to her. All of her friends were there for her. Her adopted nephew and nieces. She didn't recognize the one girl, but that still made her feel so happy that she was there.
"Everyone. So much has happened, I have such a long story for all of you."
