So, originally, there was an author's note about how this chapter was 8 pages instead of the normal 3 (well, they were 3 originally). Well, on this rewrite, it's now 12! Yikes.

Honestly, there was so much redone here that I cannot even go into detail. Stuff is getting moved to the next chapter and I edited out entire point of views because I didn't want to have the bad guys (if you haven't seen RWBY) known until after Vin has met them.

Please, feel free to follow and comment on predictions, thoughts, etc. I am always looking for new ways to improve my craft. Tell your friends!

Training

Vin awoke to a loud high-pitched screaming noise in her ear. Instinctively, she jumped out of her bed, twisted around whoever was behind her, and put them in a chokehold. Thanks to her groggy mind, it took Vin a few seconds to remember where she was and to realize the person she was choking couldn't breathe. Vin quickly let go of Ruby, who had started to slap at Vin's arm in a desperate attempt to escape. When she let go, Ruby fell to her knees gasping and panting.

Yang grabbed Vin by the shoulders and shook her angrily. "What the hell was that for?! We were only trying to wake you up!" She points are her coughing sister still on the ground. "We're your team!"

Looking down, Vin noticed a small silver whistle in Ruby's hand. "I… I thought I was being attacked."

Ruby coughed a few more times before getting back up. She placed a hand on Yang's shoulder and smiled. "It's fine Yang. It's my fault. I didn't know she would be so jumpy."

Sighing, Yang let go of Vin and mumbled an apology. Vin, following example, turned to Ruby and gave her own.

"You're fine!" she responded. "Weiss didn't enjoy it either when we did it to her either."

"I told you to get rid of that thing!" Weiss frowned as she put on her shoes. "Besides, got you coffee afterward and apologized."

Ruby snickered. "Yeah, but you forgot to add the sugar."

"You take almost an entire pound of sugar!"

Vin frowned and took a quick survey of her surroundings. Ruby and Yang were dressed, though in a different set of clothes she hadn't seen yet. Probably the school's uniform. Weiss was finishing up, straightening the wrinkles in her skirt and making sure her hair looked perfect.

That just leaves -

The bathroom door opened and Blake stepped out, her hands on her head as she tightened her bow. The girl then gave a small smile at Vin, who frowned in return.

How can they be so… energetic?

Ruby, who had moved to the front door, raised the whistle to her lips. Then, realizing her mistake, quickly threw it to the side. "Okay, so this is it, people. Our last day of classes! Professor Goodwitch is going to be doing some last-minute matches to finalize everything."

"Amity Colosseum here we come!" Yang cheered, raising a fist.

Groaning, Weiss pocketed her scroll. "I forgot to charge my scroll last night. Does anyone have the time? I wanted to get there early and as a few questions."

"Only you would try to fit in some extra credit on the last day of school," Yang smirked pulling out her scroll. "Relax! We still have- Oh, my Gods!"

That must have been code for running late. Ruby and Weiss quickly grabbed shoulder bags and ran out the door. Vin barely had enough time to blink before seeing their red and white figures disappear down the halls.

"-We still have an hour," Yang deadpanned. The blonde gave a cheeky smile. Blake laughed slightly, yet didn't say much. "Well, I'm going to go restock Ember before the matches. You're on Vin-duty!"

Vin frowned. "What?"

"Gottagobye!"

Last night, when everyone had gotten into bed, Ruby messaged the W, B, and Y of her team and commented that, with Vin's amnesia, someone should try to stay with her at all times.

Snowflake: 'That's… not a bad idea. How did you have it?'

Bullet: 'I'm a woman of many talents.'

Fire: 'So who's going to take first watch?'

Cat: 'I will. She seems a little scared of you two anyway, so it might be best if I try to get her to open up.'

Bullet: 'Scared? Of us? That's impossible!'

Flame: 'Yeah, the only things scared of Ruby are puppies worried they might not be as cute as her.'

Bullet: :

Cat: 'I'm just getting that feeling.'

Snowflake: 'Well, I think we should get some sleep. We need to be ready tomorrow if Ms. Goodwitch calls us.'

However, if Blake remembered correctly, Weiss was the last one to fall to sleep. Last she knew, Weiss was watching a tutorial on different sword forms.

Maybe that's why her scroll died.

Turning around, Blake watched as Vin simply tossed her wispy cloak of different threads and tossed it over her pajamas. The girl then moved to the door. Blake quickly stopped her and blocked the door.

"You need to get changed first," she explained. However, Vin simply cocked her head.

"I don't have a dress."

"Dress? Oh, you mean the school uniform?" Blake grabbed a small bag near the door and held it out to her. "This was dropped off earlier for you. Apparently, you're the same size as Ruby."

Vin blushed slightly and grabbed the bag. She moved over to her corner of the room and started stripping down.

Now it was Blake's turn to blush. She turned around to offer some decency. Did her amnesia affect her concept of social norms? After a few minutes, Vin coughed.

"Can I… Can I have some help?" she whispered.

Blake turned around. "Sure." Amusingly, Vin had put on her blouse backward. Her skirt, socks, and shoes, while not perfect, were at least on correctly. Blake slowly placed her hand on Vin's shoulder, noticing her flinch, and started to help pull her arms out of the sleeves.

"Were you some sort of princess?" Blake joked. Yang had told her to try that. "The kind that's never had to do this themselves…"

Her mouth went dry. As Blake got the blouse off, she was able to see Vin's pale back. Oh, Gods. Up and down her spine, in dozens of different angles and varying levels of depth, were hundreds of white scars. Vin's back was covered in a sheet of harsh tissue that, from Blake's sadly experienced knowledge, could only have come from a whip.

Blake pressed a hand softly onto Vin's back. Instead of flinching, the girl just froze. "What… what happened?"

"…" Vin's face darkened. "I don't know. Someone cruel."

Gods know there's more than enough of that to go around. Blake nodded and helped Vin back into the blouse, correctly this time. After it was on her shoulders, she spun around and helped with the buttons. "Are you… a Faunus?" Like me? she thought.

"Like you?" Vin asked.

Blake's eyes widened and she looked up in fear at the strange girl. "What do you mean?"

"Your bow," Vin nodded. "It twitched yesterday. And it looks like there's animal hair too."

It took every ounce of self-control for her not to cover her bow and make sure there wasn't anymore on it. "You can see that?"

Vin nodded again. Sighing, Blake finished the last of the buttons and stood up. "Well, the rest of RWBY already knows. But please don't tell anyone else. We aren't exactly treated with the greatest respect, even if it's illegal to treat us like lesser people."

"That doesn't make it hurt any less, though," she whispered. Vin then grabbed her cloak and tossed it around her shoulders, stopping only to drink one of the strange vials she made the night before.

But stranger still, Blake felt a connection to her new teammate. Somehow, in a way, she understood her pain. Even if she didn't actually answer.

Vin welcomed the comforting burn of metals in her stomach. It had been over an entire day without the warmth of Allomancy coursing through her. Tin heightening her senses. Pewter making her muscles taut. But she couldn't truly use their power currently, as she was following Blake around the school grounds as she led them to class.

Class. That word sounded weird in her mind. Classes we held to teach nobles how to act in the highest of social life or how to work in the field of business. But for Vin, a skaa, she couldn't even imagine what they could be. Especially in this strange, new world.

Blake led Vin into one of the larger buildings. As she entered, Vin heard dozens of murmurs from the inside. Deeper in, she was greeted by the sight of a large stage surrounded by rows of bleachers. In the center of the stage stood a woman with blonde hair and a riding crop in hand. The source of the murmuring, she guessed, was the dozens of other teenagers and students also wearing the same outfit as she and Blake.

A lot of students, Vin thought, but not that many teams. Up near the middle, Ruby, along with Weiss and Yang, was waving at them, signaling for them to join. They did so and quickly turned to face the center-staged woman as she smacked her hand with the strip of leather.

She appeared to be a middle-aged woman with very light-blonde hair tied back in a bun and a curl hanging down the right side of her face. Her eyes (thanks to tin, Vin could tell) were bright green behind a pair of thin ovular glasses. She had dangling teal earrings that match a hanging pendant on her collar.

Her clothes consisted of a white long-sleeved, pleated top with a wide keyhole neckline and gauntlet cuffs that flare in pleats at the wrist. Her lower body was covered by a black high-waisted pencil skirt with bronze buttons and brown stockings. Black boots with bronze heels and a cape, purple inside and black on the outside, adorned her outfit. The cut of the cape was stylized to end in flames and arrows, with a row of diamond-shaped bronze beads on the back. Above this line of beads appeared to be a symbol of a tiara.

In fact, Vin remembered, every person at this school seemed to have some strange token attached to their costumes. She'd need to ask about that later.

"Who is that?" she whispered.

"Professor Goodwitch," Yang answered, in an equally hushed tone. "Be careful. She's mean."

Then came another Crack! of her riding crop as she pointed it at the members of team RWVBY. "I discipline those who do not listen, Xiao-Long. And if you keep interrupting my class, we shall see how 'mean' I can be."

"Sorry!"

Goodwitch sighed and turned to address the crowd of children. "Good morning students. This will be your last day to attempt to win me over and getting invited to take part in the Vytal Festival. As you know, only a select number of teams are allowed to participate, per school. After today's exercises, as well as a review of your mission record, I will be determining who shall be allowed to join the ranks of our school's most powerful."

Again, she pointed her riding crop towards Vin. "I understand we have a new student with us. Headmaster Ozpin has stated that she will be joining team RWBY. And he has assured me that even without her history at our establishment, she is as strong as any of you."

Many of the surrounding students cast glances at Vin. She did her best to wrap her mistcloak around her arms. A few students called her 'cute' while another, a large orange-haired boy scoffed and remarked she looked 'as weak as the rest of them.'

Vin didn't like him immediately.

"Team RWBY," Goodwitch continued, making a motion above her where a large screen suddenly appeared, "will now be renamed team RWVBY."

"Boo!"

"So unoriginal!"

"Cliché much?"

Ruby, on the other hand, was ecstatic to see the change. "Yay! Now you really are a part of the team!"

"Team RWVBY for the win!" Yang added, grabbing Vin's shoulder and shaking it.

Why did I have to get stuck with these four? Vin thought to herself.

When the noise quieted down, Goodwitch typed on a scroll in her hand and the V in RWVBY moved to the left side of the screen. "To prove herself, Venture will have the chance to take part in our first mock battle. She will fight…" A spin wheel appeared on the right of the screen, shuffling through dozens of names and pictures before settling on a single one. The boy from earlier commented on her abilities. "Cardin Winchester. Please change in to your outfits, grab your weapons, and meet on the stage in five minutes."

Vin, however, was ready immediately. She had no weapons or a costume. All she had was her cloak and a vial of metals, which she replenished as she made her way up to the arena.

Minutes later, Cardin returned, no longer in his school uniform. Now he wore a chest plate sporting a bird with its wings outstretched. Underneath the armor is a black shirt with red trimmings and black pants with a red sash tied around his waist. He also had silver-gray boots that matched the rest of his armor. And in his hand was a large, black mace.

Burning steel, Vin could see a strong blue line connecting her chest to almost every addition to his gear and weapons.

He smirked as he stomped onto the stage. "What's wrong?" he smirked. "Just gonna quit the second the fight starts? Or do you think you can actually take me on with nothing?"

Instead of responding, Vin simply rolled her eyes and crouched slightly. She was used to fighting with daggers of obsidian or glass but she didn't limit herself to just that these last two years. Ham had taught her different forms of fighting. Including unarmed combat.

"Go, Vin!" Ruby cheered.

"Beat him up!" Yang added

Even Weiss and Blake were joining in, waving small flags with the letters RWVBY scrawled across them. "Go for his legs!" Weiss shouted.

Blake waved her flag. "You've got this!"

Be quiet and let me focus!

Goodwitch moved back to the center stage. "This match will go until one of the fighter's aura drops into the red zone." Above them, a bar appeared under each of their names. "When it turns red, both fighters will stop and remove themselves from the arena and allow their aura's to heal. Do not -" she glared at Cardin "-attempt to ensure 'they are down for the count'."

"Whatever."

The blonde woman then left the stage and a strange voice began to count down.

"Three."

No weapons except for the one in his hand. Most of it is metal and probably weighs as much as me. Armor is also Allomantically sound. Strong and heavy. But slow.

"Two."

Reaching inside of her, Vin began to burn zinc. With it, she could Riot his emotions, making Cardin more restless and agitated. Then, with brass, she Soothed away his fear and caution so he'd be even less likely to perceive her as a threat.

Cardin's smirk grew even larger.

"One."

Now pewter. Unlike its alloy tin, pewter tended to burn away quickly, so she needed to be careful with it. Tin, and the enhanced senses it gifted, let her notice his grip tightening on his mace's handle.

Wide swing. He'll rush.

"Begin!"

Predictably, Cardin let out a roar and rushed forward with his mean heaving over his right shoulder. Predicting his left swing, Vin flared pewter and jumped over his left shoulder. The mace swung beneath her mid-jump and missed her entirely. Glancing up at the scaffolding, Vin burnt iron and pulled on the metal roofing. By the time Cardin had turned around, she had already disappeared above him.

Vin jumped across the rafters, positioning herself directly in front of her opponent. He must have thought she would jump down at him. But she wouldn't do that yet. Instead, Vin grabbed a mental hold on the steel-line connecting her to Cardin's mace and Pushed.

The weapon slammed into Cardin's chest plate, directly away from her. He stumbled back and lifted it up, inspecting it.

"What the-?"

Pushing again, his weapon collided directly with the brute's nose. His body flashed orange for a moment as he groaned. The onlookers hissed before commenting on how much that must have hurt.

She figured that must be what aura was. Useful. A glance at the monitor showed that a small portion of Cardin's aura levels had been shaved away.

Below her, Cardin roared in anger.

Good. Vin Rioted that rage, making him even more reckless and uncoordinated. He began to swing his mace in every direction, hoping to hit something that wasn't there.

She moved directly above him and jumped down. A quick flare of steel ensured her landing would have more impact, but, surprisingly, Cardin buckled his knees and was able to keep himself upright.

Cardin dropped his weapon and tried to reach up at her. "Get off!" he yelled.

Dodging his swipes, Vin used both hands to strike the top of his head. But it was like hitting a metal wall. His aura didn't even flash. However, he was able to grab her wrist and fling her to the other side of the stadium.

Vin easily used her Pushes and Pulls to spin around and land on her feet. Realizing she couldn't hurt him herself, she once again used iron to Pull on Cardin's mace. It was more difficult now since she wasn't able to hold herself back and ended up skidding slightly. But before Cardin realized it, he was once again hit by his own weapon. Then, without pausing, she grabbed a separate iron line. This one was attached to his armor. And unlike with the mace, she let herself be Pulled.

Cardin looked up just in time to see Vin flying at his face with her heel. Thanks to the iron, as well as Cardin's own forward stumble, the result was a violent kick to his face. Dazed, he fell to the ground as his aura reduced to about two-thirds. It wasn't red yet, but the green bar had turned yellow.

Over her shoulder, Vin could hear Yang yell "Suck it!"

As her opponent struggled to his feet, Vin used a large burst of pewter to heave Cardin's mace onto her shoulder. Then, after spinning in place, she threw the club back at him. She then gave it an extra Push.

"Fight me you dumb bi-!" he began to yell, only to get cut off by another strike from his own weapon. His eyes went wide and he was knocked out of the ring, crashing onto a few rows of bleachers and crushing them beneath him.

Cardin's aura dropped to red and a loud buzzer rang. "Winchester is unable to battle," Goodwitch declared.

Vin sighed and dropped her shoulders. It almost felt too easy going up against non-allomancers. No copper meant they were easily affected by pushes and pulls on their emotions. If she wanted to, she could have possibly just made him so terrified of her that he would run away screaming.

But that would have been even more difficult.

As she turned around, every student in the room had gone silent. Then, with a thunderous roar of applause, they cheered. Without a single hit, Vin had defeated one of the most physically strong members of the entire class.

Team RWVBY cheered the loudest. Ruby and Yang were on their feet, screaming. Blake, while still congratulating, remained solemn. And even Weiss was giving strong applause.

Vin jumped off the stage, earning pats on the back and comments on her splendor. The only ones not celebrating were three other boys, presumably the members of Cardin's team, who were trying to help him to his feet. As Vin returned to her seat, she dodged another hug from Ruby.

"That. Was. Awesome! "

"Most spectacular."

"Consider me impressed."

"I've been dying to see that jerk get his butt handed to him!"

Not used to being the center of attention, Vin simply threw her mistcloak back on and tried to shrink inside.

"Ahem!" Goodwitch yelled, ordering the cheers to subside. After a few moments, they do, and everyone turns back to the instructor. "Now. Would someone like to tell me what happened?"

Ruby jumped to her feet. "Vin kicked Cardin's butt!" Yang accompanied this with a cheer and the stands quickly re-erupted into fanfare.

Rolling her eyes, Vin noticed Goodwitch trying to hide a small smile behind a cough. She waited for the hurrah to end before continuing.

"And how did she go about doing this?"

A woman with bright red hair, who Vin recognized as her opponent from the night before, raised her hand. "She anticipated Cardin's moves and used them against him."

Pyrrha, Vin remembered. And the boy next to her… Jaune.

"Indeed." On the overhead, a replay of the fight is shown, showcasing the exact moments between each of the times Vin attacked. "Venture initially anticipated Winchester's movements and used that information to either dodge or strike. However, her most impressive act came when she put him off balance and kept him in that state. With no time to react, Venture landed key blows that made her success almost instantaneous."

The screen disappeared and Goodwitch clapped her hands. "Now, let's see if the rest of you can come close to that display."

Nobody even came close to Vin's level of success. Everyone in one way or another had their aura depleted. Though, to Vin, Pyrrha's example was the most impressive.

She would learn to know that Pyrrha was known as 'the Invincible Girl'. A woman who had fought in many tournaments and battles and had never lost or even let her aura drop out of the green. Vin thought that might have meant she was skilled. But, apparently, she was cheating.

If Vin wasn't burning tin, she never would have noticed it.

Some students tended to rely on their weaponry. Ruby, for once, used her gigantic scythe to blast herself around the arena, slicing and knocking her opponent until his aura faded. Then there was Yang, whose entire battle-stretchy seemed to consist of hitting hard and tanking hits. While Yang took a great deal of damage to her aura, she ultimately came out victorious. Strategy was the third main teaching. Blake would use the coil-led tether attached to her weapon to trip up or ensnare her opponent. She even used it to pull away their weapons at one point.

And, of course, there were semblances. When Ozpin told her about them, he didn't convey the sheer range or showmanship that seemed to come with them. Using her blade to direct it, Weiss seemed to use hers as a crutch. Her form was impressive (though alien to Vin) but her footing seemed to grow complacent and her blade dipped whenever she thought a battle was beneath her. Overall, she relied upon her 'glyphs' and used this in any number of ways.

Ice, fire, and earth, Vin counted. But she figured there had to be more variations due to the other brightly-colored vials she kept inserting into her blade.

Supernatural ability, strategy, weaponry, and combat. Some things didn't seem to change even in a different world. Though for Vin, fighting wasn't meant to be a game. It was meant to kill. And no one here seemed to grasp that.

She thought that the entire time she watched. Then, with the last inklings of the class left, she was proven wrong.

"I want to fight her. Vin Venture."

Vin raised an eyebrow. Her challenger was a strange-looking woman. Terris - dark skin, though darker than she had ever seen - with short, green hair.

Green!

"Venture, do you accept?" Goodwitch asked.

She shrugged and made her way back down the bleachers, not even bothering to remove her mistcloak this time.

Weiss frowned. "Be careful. She's from one of the other kingdoms, so she's never really been forced to fight. She and her team just watch us." A nod to the corner of the room directed Vin's gaze where she could make out the figures of a man and woman.

"Any idea what her semblance is?"

"No idea," Yang shrugged. "All we know is they are here for the festival and that her name is Emerald."

Emerald? Vin thought. Ruby? Why is everyone named after jewels here?

As she made her way to the arena, Vin studied her new opponent. Her attire consisted of an intricate white top and an olive-colored crop top, on the back of which was another symbol. This one was is in the shape of a cut gem, most likely referring to her name. She wore white shorts, decorated with what appeared to be a gold coin-plated belt with four gold chains draped around her back from two of the coins in what seemed to be a green loincloth. She also wore a gold, three-ring armband on her left arm and a string of gold beads near the same wrist.

In her hands were a pair of kama, a small hand-held set of scythes. Though, based on what Vin had seen from almost everyone else's weapons, she figured in some way they worked as a gun.

Guns, she thought. Able to turn anyone into a Coinshot. And without the need for an anchor.

But as Vin studied this girl, she felt drawn to her eyes. A strange color, red, yet with darkness hid behind them. She hadn't seen that kind of darkness in any of the other students. Hate, yes, but this was something worse.

She's studying me. Vin's eyes narrowed and she flared copper. One of the most important metals for an Allomancer, copper hid a Mistborn's abilities from Seekers, who could use bronze to 'sense' the pulse of someone burning metals. She hadn't been burning it so far, not thinking she'd need to, but this girl's gaze made her fingers tingle.

She needed to take her seriously.

At her request, a pair of daggers (strangely colored blue) were rented out to Vin. As Goodwitch reset the board, Vin replenished her metals. The gazes of the other students seemed to bear down on her even more than before. Last time, she was nobody fighting one of their school's strongest. Now she was someone who impressed everyone and fighting a girl who hadn't shown any of her capabilities to anyone.

It had to be interesting.

Vin tried something different this time. Instead of Soothing away his caution, she Rioted it. Worry and a tinge of fear was forced to creep up Emerald's spine.

Then a touch of confidence was Soothed away. Not too much, or she might have realized her emotions were being played with.

Emerald's fingers twitched.

Good.

Removing herself from the stage, Goodwitch began the countdown.

"Three."

Vin inched forward, testing the weight of her knives. Across from her, Emerald took a hesitant step back.

"Two."

The green-haired girl swallowed and dropped into a more defensive stance; her blades held in front of her rather than at her sides.

"One."

Another Riot of fear as Vin glared across the platform. Emerald visibly shuddered.

"Begin!"

With no good anchor for a Push or Pull, Vin simply ran. Pewter swelled inside of her, making her speed easily double. By the time Emerald began her first action, Vin was already halfway to her.

Emerald flickered her wrists and the blades on her kama disappeared. Her pointer flexed and, strangely, she turned to the left.

Vin didn't question the girl's poor decision to leave her side open. Instead, she just jumped up and raised her blades. Her opponent seemed shocked to see that Vin did so and she tried to swing back. However, she was a second too late and Vin's knives caught on her arms.

Aura flashing, they held there for a moment.

"What the hell?"

Without responding to the girl's outcry, Vin let go of her weapons and dropped to her knees. Then, with a flare of pewter, she kicked at the girl's stomach.

Emerald grunted and slid back. Even with Vin's emotional tampering, she seemed shaken. Almost like she was expecting something to happen.

Like her eyes were deceiving her.

Lifting her hands, Vin used iron to pull the knives back into her hands. Emerald lifted her head, her eyes flashing angrily. To her surprise, Vin threw her daggers forward, straight at her chest. And, unlike Pyrrha from the night before, she tried to block. Crossing her weapons to form an 'X', Emerald deflected the first knife which fell out off the stage.

If she were the laughing type, she would have done so. Had she taken this girl too seriously? Was that darkness a trick of the light?

Vin burned steel and Pushed on her kama. With its unexpected lurch, Emerald was knocked back as they hit her chest and, while flaring the metal, she was sent flying off the arena.

"Out of bounds," Goodwitch declared. "Disqualified."

Once again, Vin returned to her seat with cheers of celebration. But, compared to early, there was a definite drop in volume and synergy. Instead of commenting on her victory, most of the students were mocking Emerald.

"If that's the best Haven has to offer…"

"I can't believe I was scared of her."

"Totally kicked her butt!"

Vin blushed at Yang's crude declaration. "Thank you?"

Ruby waved one of the flags from earlier. "Maybe we'll call you the Invincible Girl!" She giggled and turned back to her seat as she heard Goodwitch return to the center stage.

"Good job today," she nodded. "With that last bout, class is over, and for Beacon's students, classes are over. The chosen teams for the Vytal Festival will be decided upon soon. Keep an eye on your scroll's notifications and remember that you are Vale's finest. Try to act as such."

"Yes, Professor!"

Everyone began to shuffle down the bleachers and towards the door. Vin followed behind her teammates but stopped when Goodwitch called her over.

"I need to speak with Venture," she stated. Yang tried to hang back but was given a harsh stare by her teacher. "Alone."

After she had left, Goodwitch sighed and reached into her pockets. From them, she pulled out a small package. "Certain members of the staff here at Beacon are away of your… situation. At my request, Professor Ozpin allowed me to buy you these. The first is your own scroll. If you ever need something, call me or him. Our numbers are already inputted."

Vin nodded, though she didn't understand at all what Goodwitch meant by numbers.

"Your teammates will help you with it," she explained. "The other item is an aura sensor. Simply place it somewhere on your body and it will relay your biometrics for the computers to display. You can even see the results on your scroll."

"How did you monitor it earlier?" Vin asked, nodding to where the screen used to be.

Goodwitch gave a small smile. "He did say you were perceptive. We had someone watching over you and would have made your aura levels decrease whenever you got his. But since you didn't need to…"

She shuffled her feet. I drew too much attention. I should have thrown that second match, make it look like the first was me being lucky. Perception makes everything more difficult.

Again, it seemed like Goodwitch could read her mind. "Try not to use your… allomancy too much. It will draw too much suspicion if people begin to think you have multiple semblances in the tournament."

Vin simply nodded and turned to leave. However, waiting for her was no other than Pyrrha Nikos. Worried she might try to seek revenge or a rematch, Vin immediately Soothed her anger.

"Your semblance," she muttered. "You can move metals?"

Ah. That's what this is about. "And so can you."

During the class, Vin noticed in multiple situations her opponent's swings would start too late or swing too wide. In one of the matches, it even looked like she made her own blade slide out of her hand slightly to provide better reach.

A trick Vin would have to try. Though their powers seemed drastically different and such an act would require extreme precision with Pushing and Pulling on a dagger to make it simply float.

Pyrrha blushed. "Yes. But… I cannot control it as well as I'd like. I can use a bit of it, but whenever I use it too much, they begin to grow out of control."

"What does this have to do with me?"

"Is it possible that you could, maybe, teach me?"

Vin froze. Teach? Me?

"I'm sorry, but I thought you might be able to help. You seem to know how to use your semblance well enough and-"

"I'll do it."

The redhead's eyes widened with her smile. "Really?"

"I wasn't that good when I first started," she whispered. "I know what it's like to have a power that's true potential is just out of reach." And it will give me an excuse to leave Ruby and her friends for a bit. I swear, their faces are going to get stuck smiling if they keep doing it.

"Thank you. When would you be free?"

"Tomorrow," Vin said. "That will give me time to think of what to do. But I will need to hear what the full capabilities of your semblance are."

Pyrrha smiled. "Of course. Is it fine if I invite my teammates?"

"Your teammates? You don't keep your semblance a secret?"

"Not at all. I trust Jaune and the others. Besides, while some huntsmen do try to keep theirs hidden, I like to believe mine can be a symbol of strength or power. Power kept hidden is just a sword hidden in its sheath. If it's never shown, what is its point?"

"… I see."

"But if you do not feel comfortable with it, I will keep this our secret. I came to you with help. It's not kind of me to question your teaching methods."

Vin nodded. "Thank you." But inwardly she questioned the girl's statement.

If my power is a blade, then what should I cut now?

Thank you for reading my story!

Sir Bob the 1st: I love that idea! I definitely might try that!
