Chapter 5

A Good Decision

Edward sat in the chair, elbows propped on his knees, just looking very handsome as always.

He was wearing washed-out jeans and a dark blue shirt. I noticed that I had not yet paid attention to his clothes.

Edward, meanwhile, just looked me in the eye and my stomach started to tingle.

Were those butterflies?

Edward gave me his crooked grin and I once again forgot to breathe.

Man, I really had to watch out around him!

I looked around my room.

It was a little old fashioned, not modern or anything, but fine for me. I was satisfied with it.

But I didn't find what I was looking for, my note.

Again Edward guessed what I was up to and handed me the note and pen he must have taken to my room.

What's the school like here in Forks ... and what grade are you in anyway?
Are the other students nice? And the teachers? I'm a little scared because I don't know anyone.

And if you want, you can also sit quietly with me!

I wrote quite a bit on the note, but I blushed a bit at the last sentence.

Did he even want to?

I thought about crossing it out, but then I gathered my courage and handed him the note.

Edward read through everything and suddenly began to grin.

"Nothing better than that!" he said, getting up and joining me on my bed.

In the meantime, I slid all the way onto the bed and leaned against the headboard.

Edward did the same after I looked at him and tapped my right side.

He seemed a little nervous.

Then Edward began to tell.

"You know, the school is nothing special. The teachers are all okay. Some a little too old in my opinion, but that's not for me to decide." He gave a short laugh. "The students ... well, if I'm honest, my siblings and I have nothing to do with them. We just moved here two years ago ourselves, and we're kind of outsiders. They can't handle Jasper being with Alice, my little sister, and Emmett being with Rosalie, my big sister."

He paused and I looked at him in shock!

His siblings were couples? Oh man.

Edward, however, just grinned mockingly, lifted his left arm, put it around my shoulders and pulled me close to him.

I leaned against him and closed my eyes.

"Bella, don't worry about it. We're all adopted - or do you think Carlisle has kids that old?"

He sounded amused.

How stupid of me! Why I had not come there from alone on it!

"So, you still wanted to know what grade I was in. It's strange that Charlie hasn't told you yet. You'll be in the same class with me, and you don't have to be afraid. You already know Emmett, Jasper and me ... and since you agreed I'll introduce you to Alice, Rosalie and Esmé, my mom, too!"

Good, then I was not as alone as I thought. The only question left was how to get to school. I didn't want to drive with Charlie, because I found it embarrassing to be dropped off at school every morning by a police car.

But Edward also answered this question for me without me writing it down.

"Since Charlie has to go to work early in the morning, he asked me if I could take you to school. If you don't mind, I'll always pick you up in the morning then!"

I would ride to school with Edward every morning! And I would have classes with him every day! I think it was really good that my mother had sent me to Forks. I hadn't felt as comfortable in months as I did now here in Edward's cold arms.

"Bella, maybe I should pick you up tomorrow? Then I can introduce you to the rest of my family before you come to school with us the day after tomorrow then?!"

He looked at me questioningly and I nodded.

Tomorrow would probably be a beautiful day.

Edward grinned to himself.

"The game should be over, and I think we'll go right back home. Let's go down there, shall we?"

I was reluctant to detach myself from him and it looked like he felt the same way.

Edward took my hand, and we went downstairs together.

In fact, the game was already over. It looked like they were just waiting for Edward.

I said goodbye to them, Edward pressed another kiss to my forehead, and when they were gone, Charlie and I went into the kitchen where we cooked together.

Later I went to bed very tired after being quizzed by Dad about Edward.
