Chapter 9
Findings
"Bella, Emmett, Jasper and I are going to start the weekend a little early. We're going camping in the mountains. Alice will take you to school tomorrow!"
Today was Thursday. I had made it through my fourth day of school without incident, except for the jealous cows. Okay, so tomorrow would be my first day of school without Edward.
I looked at him slightly afraid and also sad.
I miss you already. Do you think your girls will leave me alone?
Edward screwed up his face. He didn't like it when I called these cows 'his girls,' but I liked teasing him about it.
"I miss you too, my angel, whenever I'm not around you. Don't worry about school. Rose and Alice will take care of you."
Okay, Rose and Alice ... the two of them had really become very good friends to me over the last few days.
Well, then I guess I'll look forward to tomorrow after all. Even if I will miss you!
When Edward read that, he pulled me tighter into his arms and gave me a kiss on the forehead.
Edward had been showing me the rest of the house for the last few days, which really took some time, as many rooms had their own story.
Right now we were lying on his white double bed. It was already late afternoon.
Edward and I didn't talk much. He kept telling me things about his family, but never many.
But when we spent the whole afternoon just lying cuddled up on his bed, saying nothing, just looking at each other, occasionally kissing and nestling together, it was better than any conversation that could have been had.
I slept very soundly again that night, the nightmares leaving me alone.
"Good morning, Bella!", I heard a very familiar voice as I woke up.
That couldn't be.
I was suddenly sitting bolt upright in bed.
It was him after all, sitting in my desk chair and grinning at me.
I literally jumped out of bed and rushed into his arms, which he had spread open to take me in his arms.
His golden eyes literally shone as he wrapped me in his cold arms!
Wait a minute! Golden eyes! Cold arms! That seemed all too familiar - the Cullens! Edward! They weren't vampires, were they?!
I looked at my best friend, startled, grabbed his hand, and shared my thoughts with him.
Yes, Jonath was a vampire, I knew that because he had saved me from one himself four months ago and had stood by me ever since. When the vampire woman with the flaming red hair hid the corpse of my best friend and not even my mother - let alone the police - believed me. Jonath stood by me during this time, he stayed in my room at night and watched over me. He took me in his arms when I cried again, which happened very often in the early days. Later Jonath explained to me that humans were simply afraid of the truth and therefore did not believe me.
That was the day when I began to suppress what had happened.
'Jonath. Oh my God, I met a vampire family, I fell in love with one of them. Oh God, what am I going to do now? Help me. Please. Get me out of here.'
He looked at me with amusement.
Jonath had a gift. He could communicate his thoughts by laying on of hands, but not only that, also his pains and sensations, simply everything. After our first meeting we had found out that I could do the same with him in reverse - I could tell him my thoughts.
"Bella, take it easy. I'm surprised you haven't noticed what they are before now. You don't have to be afraid of them. They've been vegetarians longer than I have. They can hardly smell human blood anymore. Don't worry about it, my little one!"
'Are you really sure about that? Oh dear, why didn't I think of that right away. But I'll have to worry about that later. And now to you! WHERE have you been for the last week? I was afraid to go to sleep at night. I thought that woman had done something to you. I was terribly worried! Don't ever do that again!'
He grinned even wider at me, lifted me up and sat down on the bed with me.
I felt safe.
"Bella, I was around you the whole time, believe me. But when I saw who picked you up from the airport, I got a shock at first. However, I realized that this Edward didn't do anything to you. Wow ... you should have seen his look when he saw you for the first time. It was really love at first sight."
He showed it to me in his memories and I understood! Edward looked like he was really seeing the sun for the first time.
I blushed slightly.
So much he was already in love with me?
"When I saw that, I was sure he wouldn't hurt you. So I let you go with him, and later when he drove himself home, I chased him down and confronted him."
I looked at him in shock.
'YOU HAVE DONE WHAT?'
I was still holding his hand, so he could hear that. He winced slightly.
"Bella, you've become my little sister to me. Do you think I'm just going to let any random guy get to you? No, that's not how it works, my dear! I explained to Edward who I was and told him what happened to you. He promised not to talk to you about it. Afterwards, he introduced me to his family, and I became friends with them. I liked Edward and felt that he deserved a chance with you. Besides, maybe you would get over the last few months if you fell in love, I thought to myself. So I held off and the reason I wasn't with you at night is because - once you fell asleep - someone else was sitting in that chair watching over you! Namely, Edward!"
I was amazed!
Edward was here every night! Jonath knew the Cullens! The Cullens were vegetarian vampires just like Jonath! And Edward, my friend, was also a vampire! There were some things I had to figure out!
