Chapter Sixty Eight

"Is here good?" Renee asked as she pointed to a small table in the corner of the small café that they found near the hotel.

"Looks good." Angel nodded as she sat down with her coffee in hand.

Renee joined her and sighed as she gave a crack of her neck. Even since they arrived in Kansas City, she had been complaining about a crick that she had. "God, I got to see if Jon will give me a neck rub before the show."

Angel laughed at her exaggerated face. "I'm sure he will,"

"Oh!" Renee's eyes lit up. "Speaking of Jon, we were wondering if you and Dean wanted to go on a double date with us tomorrow after the house show of course? Ever since you started sharing rooms with him, I haven't been able to see you that much and it will be nice to go out just the four of us…" The woman kept rambling about how nice it would be to hang out.

"I'll ask." She interrupted, making Renee smile.

"Yay! It doesn't have to be anything fancy, like dinner and drinks maybe a bit of shopping?"

"You wanna take both Dean and Jon shopping?" Angel raised a brow. Though Jon wasn't as…hyper as Dean both men did have a bit of energy that said 'when left to their own devices, they could burn down a while town'.

"Don't you think it would be cute to have both of them waiting for us to try on some cute clothes and model them for them?"

"You know that cute isn't the word I would use when I walk out to see both of them looking bored as hell and pissy."

"Oh?" Renee laughed. "well it's the word I would use."

While both of them laughed, a server came over and placed two breakfast sandwiches in front of them and Angel's stomach growled as she looked down at hers.

"So, how was your time off?" Renee asked as soon as Angel was about to take a huge bite of food.

"Good." She nodded. "Yours?"

"Relaxing. Wine, Hallmark movies, cooking and time with the boy; just what the doctor ordered."

Angel gave a small smile with her mouth full. "Yeah I get that." She swallowed. "I would never had thought that Las Vegas could be relaxing. You know, with all the flashing lights and the huge nightlife."

"Well, when you stay as far away from the strip as possible, it's just like everywhere else."

"Ture."

"I can't believe you guys didn't even go to one casino or show. I mean it was your first time there and…"

"And it was special."

A smirk came to Renee's face. "That it was."

Angel blushed. After stepping off the plane in Missouri, Renee had grabbed Angel and practically pulled her away from Dean with a thousand questions races form the reporter's lips. They weren't even to baggage claim and Renee has already asked her if Dean and her did the Dirty Deed.

At that moment, she realized that it was better to just tell Renee about her wonderful couple of days with Dean. Giving Dean the keys to the rental car, she told him that she would meet up with him and Seth for their interview with Fox4 they had today before the show.

Speaking of which, Angel glanced at her phone to see that it was about to head out for said interview.

When she looked up, she saw that telling looking on Renee's face again, which meant one thing, more questions were loading in that woman's mind. "Renee we've already talked about this, I'm not going into any more depth then I've already said."

"I know." She pouted. "I just…if you were to tell me that you and Dean were going to be a thing when I first met you, I would have called the loony bin…"

I would have too. Angel sighed as she thought back.

"But here we are. Talking about how you two shared a romantic couple of days."

"No, you're talking about it and I'm trying avoid the conversation."

"Alright, alright." Renee put her hands up in defeat. "I'll leave you alone."

"Will you?"

"Yeah. At least for long enough that you can get the boys to their interview." Renee winked. "But after that…not sure."

"Gee thanks."

D.D.D

"Is that what you two are wearing?" Dean heard Renee Young's voice screech though the lobby, making him look up to see both the blond and Angel walking over to where he and Seth were sitting waiting for their manager. "You two do know you're going on TV, right?"

"Yeah?" Seth asked as he looked down at himself. "What's wrong with this?"

Dean looked over to see that he was wearing a grey button up shirt, pair of jeans and a green jacket. Which was about the same as he was wearing, which was the reddish-brown button up shirt that Angel and he had bought together yesterday and a pair of jeans.

"I'm mean there's nothing wrong with it, I just thought you would want to dress up a little bit more."

"Renee, we wear basically swat gear most of the time, this is dressing up for us." Dean reminded her.

The woman let out a long sigh. "True."

"I think they look great." Angel spoke up drawing his attention to her and he could have sworn she saw a small blush on her face as they locked eyes.

"If Angel's good with it, then I'm not changing." Seth said standing up.

"Fine." Renee sighed as glanced down at her phone. "I'll see you guys at the show tonight. Good luck on your interview tonight."

"Thanks!" Angel waved.

"Those guys are convincing." The news reporter said with a huge cheesy smile on their face. "They overwhelm their opponents with their strength, intimidation, and trademark promos."

Angel groaned as she shook her head at the man from the side lines. The man couldn't sound any less thrilled about doing this interview if he tried.

"Now the Shield is ready to take center ring at Sprint Center." She watched as the video faded out to the reporter standing next to Seth and Dean. "And we got WWE US Champion and powerhouse Seth Rollins…."

Powerhouse? Angel cocked her head as glanced down at the paper…She clearly marked that Seth was the Architect and that Roman was the Powerhouse, so the man either read it wrong or just didn't care.

When she looked back up both Dean and Seth were laughing about it as well.

"Good to have you guys on the show, thanks for coming over." The reporter turned towards the boys.

"Thanks for having us."

"Good to be here."

"First of all, you guys have quite the introduction here, you call them promo's. I think the guys around here call them smack talk or smackdowns…" Angel cringed. "First off what's the deals with the vest, it looks like you guys come through, when you make your entrance into the live audience? Don't ya?"

"Yeah!" Seth smirked.

"It's twenty fourteen, man. Nobody is wearing the little underwear trunks and oiling themselves up, like it's the seventies and the eighties." Dean answered clearly catching onto the fact that the guy interview them didn't know much about modern pro wrestling at all. "We're trying to modernize the look, you know, and be ready for combat at all times. And I think we're trend setters…"

"We look good don't we."

"Yes, it looks great."

Angel sighed as Dean turned toward her and shook his head. She shrugged as the next question was fired off.

"What about the promos, tell me are these promos off the cuff or are they prepared? Do you have an idea about what you want to do? Is there a lot of talk about your opponent's mother?"

"What?"

"There's a lot of in-between man." Seth took the reins on this one. "It's what you feel, you got to be in the moment, you got to live with what you're saying and stuff like that. It can be up in the air, you can have an idea what you want to talk about, who you want to talk about, you know what I'm saying. But at the end of the day you got to feel it."

"Smack talk is important in all sports, you feel something in your mind, in your soul, you just got to say it, you know what I mean." Dean said as a no-good look came to his face. "I wanna ask you, where did you get that suit, JCPenney's? Was it on sale or is it a hand-me-down from your little brother?"

"Hey, take it easy boys." Seth intervened as the interview commented about how expensive his suit was.

"You know, I can't comeback. I mean I'm looking up at you…"

"No, you can't comeback." Dean told him. "You see that tag in there?" He pointed to his sleeve. "Custom made for the United States Champion."

"Custom made my ass, that shirt came from H&M." Angel shook her head as he gave her a wink.

"Alright Dean. I'm a hundred and fifty pounds of fight asthma right here, you feel good about that?" Seth gave the man a nervous laugh. "Alright, so who is the opponent tonight and how are you going to exploit their weakness?"

"Could be anybody." Seth answered. "Card is always subject to change, there are a lot of Superstars and Divas in the locker room and um…we don't have a lot of fans in the locker room." That was for sure. She could only really think of one person that wouldn't jump at the chance to face them and that was Daniel Bryan. "So, anyone how steps in our way, whether it be any of Evolution; Randy Orton, Batista, Triple H himself or Kane. Anybody, we're going to take them out."

"That's the important thing. That's why you got to be there tonight at the Sprint Center, you're going to have all the WWE Superstars there live, and once the music hits and the camera's the camera starts rolling anything can happen, and you don't want to miss it."

"Alright, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, you guys fight injustice in the WWE. What is that all about, what kind of injustice is going on inside the loop."

"Well let me tell you something, injustice is really just a metaphor for us being better than everyone else. The real injustice that has been going on in WWE, over the last five, ten years is the stagnation, the complacently. The Superstars have been just idling by. We came onto the scene and we took things over, we started to from ground level and we built ourselves up, now the Shield is the most dominate force in the history of the WWE and tonight at the Sprint Center everyone in attendance is going to find out why."

The rest of the interview was all about the 'smackdown' that was going to be happen between the reporter and some other guy. And Dean just hounded on their height, they were five-six, taller than she was and Dean was just going to town with them.

When the camera's cut, Dean and Seth quickly made their way over to her while the reporter, who she found out name was Nick and his challenger Mark walked up towards a green screen.

"That was something…" Seth sighed.

"Something?" Dean shook his head. "That guy was scattered brained and didn't have one clue."

Angel agreed as she watch the screen next to her as the green screen turned into what she guessed was supposed to be a ring. "It was certain a cringy interview." She said pointing towards the camera. "They kept cutting to the same footage of Roman spearing Triple H over and over."

"The things we do for the company."

Then came the smackdown, which was just two very strange men yelling at each other about stupid stuff. When Nick had asked Seth and Dean about promos she wasn't quite expecting this…

Looking up at Dean and Seth, she saw that they were thinking the same thing as they watched with slack jaws and drawn brows. She even heard Dean whisper. "What the fuck?"

"Should we stop them?" Seth asked.

"This is embarrassing."

When the spat was over, everyone in the studio was laughing. All the people who worked here, the other reporters and crew members were laughing at their friends, while her, Seth, and Dean were laughing because they didn't know how else to process what they just saw.

"Alright, now you have to pick a winner." Someone told them.

"Pick a winner?" Dean sighed. "We all lost having to watch that." He pointed at the two men who were trying to catch their breath.

"Be nice." Angel told him as they were led up to the green screen.

"Alright boys, break it up, break it up." Seth said as they entered frame and judging by the still stunned look on Dean's face, she prayed that Seth would do the rest of the talking. "Take is easy, take it easy. That wasn't too bad to be honest with you. You put in some effort."

"Well I've been married a long time, so I'm used to it." The Mark guys said looking right into the camera.

"You're used to being yelled at and belittled by a woman, right. That's what happened right there."

Angel couldn't help but laugh at Seth hidden joke of calling Nick a woman.

"Alright, I guess so handicap Mark here." Nick started. "What did you think about Mark, did it get too personal."

"No man, he spoke from the heart…"

"I don't know if anything you said made any sense." Dean spoke up.

"You got to watch our show."

"But the energy though brought by both of you was really good." He complimented them. "Not intimidating in the least."

"Not intimidating at all."

"It kind of felt like going to like a fourth grade midget division wrestling match."

"Oh god." Angel sighed as the word midget escaped Dean's lips. She knew he didn't mean anything by it, it was what the division in wrestling was called. But it still wasn't something she, or the station, or the network wanted to hear.

"That's not PC." Mark gaped at the camera.

"It's just a division." Dean stated what she was thinking.

"You have your own flyweight category." Seth tried to save the interview.

"What about my fly?"

"None the less I was still excited to see you guys try your little heart out and like…" He batted at Mark's shoulder a little. "At each other."

"Alright listen, you job was pick a winner." Nick told them.

"Oh boy, I'm not sure if I'm prepared to make this decision."

"You know what, let's make the ladies pick." That devilish smirk came to his face.

Angel gave him a little glare but luckily everyone else looked at the other morning news reporters. After a little bit of thinking they decided that Nick was the winner.

"This is where you cheap shot him…" Dean leaned down to whisper into Mark's ear.

All of a sudden, hell broke loose on the set as the two reports when after each other while bumping into Seth.

"You're supposed to take each other out, not me."

D.D.D.

"What the hell was that?" Dean yelled as soon as they got into the car. "God damn, that was…"

"You know, I normally go back and watch or interviews, just to make sure I didn't say anything dumb, but I think I'm going to skip that one." Seth said with a whistle.

Angel sighed from the backseat. "When I took that interview for you guys, they never said anything about judging a 'smackdown'"

"Smackdown, that was two men embarrassing themselves." Seth laughed as he called up Roman and put him on the speaker.

"Ello?"

"Hey man, are you at the hotel yet?"

"Nah, but I'm in the cab right now."

"Good, we're on our way back from that Fox4 interview."

"How was it?" Roman asked.

"I'm still trying to process it." Dean told him. Which was true. He wasn't sure what just happened at all, was this WWE's prank show? Or Punk'd? That couldn't have really been the reporters for Fox4…just couldn't have been.

Angel let out a laugh from the back. "They had a 'smackdown' which was them yelling at each other about things that only those who watch the show regularly would know, then Dean put them all to shame."

"Did I?" He raised a brow.

"You and Seth were relentless with the short jokes."

Roman laughed. "Dude! You know that not everyone is six foot tall."

"I know…" He sighed. "But they were trying to be intimidating and everything. And I just couldn't."

"You're just lucky that you weren't there."

"It sounds like it was exciting."

"Exciting? Try embarrassing."

Roman gave another laugh. "Alright, I'm about to pull into the hotel, I'll meet you guys at the arena here in a bit."

"Alright man, see you there." Seth said as he pushed the button to end the call. Seth gave a shake of his head as he set his phone down in the cupholder. "So, do we want to get some grub before we go to the arena or just see what catering has?"

"I'm good with catering?" Angel answered.

"Yeah a good catering sandwich sounds goods." Dean agreed/

Seth nodded. "Catering it is." He clicked the turn single to turn onto the highway.

When they got to the arena, they completely ignored the locker room all together and made their way to a dark hallway. Where they stashed their shit before heading down the catering.

They loaded up their plates and sat down at one of the free tables. Dean gave his neck a crack and looked around. There was an uneasy feeling that was sitting right with him. The place was filled with a bunch of random people, a couple of already dressed Superstars, a couple of Divas and a handful of crew members who were waiting to do their job for the night. Any of them could be henchmen of the Authority. Any of them could have the Shield's number and just waiting to pounce.

Tonight, he had the order fatal four way for the title and he knew that it wasn't going to be fair. He was up against Alberto Del Rio and RybAxel, three of the men who were part of the eleven on three beatdown. So clearly not big fans for the Shield.

Then he had the strangest feeling that their was going to a stipulation to the match that stated his brothers weren't going to be allowed to join him down at ringside.

That would be evening the playing field and we wouldn't want that….He thought as he took a bite out of his sandwich.

"You alright there, man?" Seth chuckled.

"Just fine."

"You sure, if you eat any more aggressively, you might not have teeth left."

"Just thinking about my match."

"Ah." Seth nodded his head.

Dean's eyes flickered to Angel who sat across the table from him, munching quietly on her roasted potatoes. "How long do you think we have until they tell us that Seth and Roman have been banned from ringside?"

She sighed as she played with the poor spud that was stabbed on her fork. "Probably five minutes before the match like normal."

A.A.A

Well it wasn't five minutes before the match, but they did indeed get the message that both Seth and Roman were banned from ringside. However, the stipulation said nothing about her going down to ringside and after a little bit of arguing Angel got Dean to agree to let her come down to the ring with him. As long as she sat in the timekeeper's area.

"Show time." Roman sighed as their music hit.

The four of them stepped out onto the small landing before the steps and instantly Dean started to twitch, started to smack himself. The pressure of the match was already getting to him.

"You got this." Seth said as the two pounded fists.

"You're the champ. Show them why." Roman said as he got the same treatment.

Dean took a deep breath as their eyes met. "Ready?"

She nodded and the two of them left their friends behind and started down the steps. This was weird. It wasn't every day that only she and Dean were the only ones making their way down the steps. It almost felt like she was missing something.

Not a word was said between the two of them as they got over the barricade and into the ring. But nothing was needed. Angel knew that Dean was fuming, knew that all he wanted was to punch something. But she also knew that he was nervous.

A fatal four-way title match was not a match that was in the champions favor. There were twelve possibilities on how this match could go and only three of them ended up with Dean on top. If anyone other them him pinned someone the title was gone.

Giving herself a physical shake, she knocked the thoughts of Dean losing out of her mind. No, she had to believe that he could come out on top. He was unpredictable. The wild card. He could do this.

"This is all you." She said as he paced past her. "Just like Roman and Seth said. We're coming home with the gold."

Dean stopped, those blue eyes magnetized to her and she could see all sorts of emotions in them. Around them the lights dimmed to go to commercial, but Dean didn't seem to notice. He stomped his way over to her, grabbed her arms, and pulled her in for a quick kiss.

When he pulled away, Angel stood there staring up at him. Not really comprehending that he had just kissed her in the ring once again. At least the cameras weren't rolling. Though knowing the fans someone had a video of it on their phone.

"Angel."

"Huh?" She blinked at him.

"I don't want you in the ring when everyone comes down." He told her plainly.

Clearing her throat, she gave him a nod and let him lead her to the ropes. "Deep breaths." She said as he held the ropes open for her. "Don't lose your head. You have this in the bag."

Angel ducked out of the ring just as Roberto Del Rio's music played. She didn't waste a moment as she made her way into the time's keeper area. She gave a hod to all the people who were sitting behind the small secssion of barricade before sitting down on one of the metal chairs.

When she finished settling into her new spot, RybAxel were making their way into the ring. God, this wasn't good. It was practically a three on one match, everyone was going to try to get Dean out of the match quickly that way a new champion would be crowned at the end. Meaning Angel was about to witness once again her boyfriend getting his ass beaten.

Just a prelude to Sunday. She sighed as someone tapped her on the shoulder.

"JBL and Cole would like you to join them on commentary."

"Commentary?" She questioned as she glanced up at Dean. "Yeah, ok." She stood up and followed the man over to the announce table.

"Angel Miles is joining us on commentary here." Michael Cole told the views at home as he handed her a headset. "Welcome back to the announcers' table."

"Thank you for having me again." She said as sweet as she could, even though being sweet was far from what her mind was on.

"So, Angel how are you feeling about this match?" She could hear the smirk in JBL's voice as the bell rang.

"You know as best as I can when it comes to being forced into an unfair fight like this."

"Unfair?" He laughed. "You think it's unfair that Dean had to defend his title."

"Defend his title? No, I don't think that's unfair. However, I do think it's unfair that he had to do it against three other men, two of which are a tag team and that he had to do it before one of the biggest matches in the Shield's career."

She waited for the smug retort but instead she got nothing as Lillian Garcia announced Roberto Del Rio and the rest. She realized that JBL had a comment about everyone of the men in the match, expect Dean.

"So, today marked the three hundred forty eighth day as Dean Ambrose as United States Champion. Will it be his last?"

"Nope." She answered.

"He had held the gold for nearly a year."

"And he had defended it rather sparingly, you might say."

"What is with you and Dean?" Angel glanced over at the man farthest away from her. "Do you have a vendetta against him? Every time his reign is brought up you comment about how many time's he had to defend it."

"Only because I feel like he should be a fighting champion."

"You wanna talk? The World Heavy Weight Champion with two hundred and eighty days, not as much as Dean but closeish and you had what? Nine matches?"

"She got you there." Cole laughed. "No matter how many times he's defended it, he has to tonight in a match set up by the Authority, no surprise there…"

Angel tuned Cole out as she watched what she knew was going to happen. Ryback, Axel and Del Rio all ganging up on Dean. They pushed him back until a corner until the man snapped and launched himself at Ryback.

Though Dean was able to get the upper hand and get the first hit, it didn't last long as the three men knocked him to the mat and started stamping on him.

Angel's stomach turned as she watched Dean trying to fight back in anyway, but every time he had some sort of resurgence, they just knocked him back down.

A few more hits to the ribs, to the gut, to the back and Dean was on his back in the middle of the ring, trying to protect his face.

"Dean's one of those men that just doesn't know when to say when." JBL said as Ryback tossed him out of the ring. "I don't think he's all there. How can you be with someone like him, Angel?"

Angel blinked rapidly as she once again turned to look at the man who was smirking as he looked at his little monitor in front of him.

"Ah! Look at this! Look at this!"

"Here's Curtis Axel trying to take out Del Rio!" Both men called as Axel tried to roll up Del Rio.

"Angel, you didn't answer my question." JBL said as the commotion died down.

"You want me to answer that?"

"I mean yeah, Dean's nuts. How can you be with someone like that?"

"Dean's not nuts." She gritted her teeth. "He's a little unpredictable and dances to the beat of his own drum. But that's one reason why I love him."

"Fatal four way rules. Every man for himself!" Cole gave them both a glance, like he was trying to get them back on track.

The crowd went nuts as Dean crawled his way back into the ring and hit Ryback in the back of the leg, sending him down on the mat. Now it was Axel's turn as Dean turned him and started his chop, punch combo.

"And look at Ambrose! Right back in this thing, the Lunatic Fringe of the Shield."

Once he got Axel to the ropes, Dean hit the man a headbutt before kicking the man in the back of the thigh so hard that he flipped in the air.

Angel felt a bit of hope fill her as Dean seemed to be on fire, though as Ryback got to his feet, that hope washed away.

Dean turned with his fist up ready to take on anything, only to be scooped up and hit with a spinebuster. "Get him up!" She heard Ryback call to Axel before the two of them threw Dean once again out of the ring.

The only thing that was good about Dean being dumped out of the ring was that now, Ryback and Axel were turning their sights on Del Rio.

"What's been interesting that Ryback and Axel who are teammates, have been working as team throughout this match."

"Yeah I think we're going to see that team fall apart, once someone goes for a cover."

Much to Angel's surprise as RybAxel worked together, Del Rio was still able to get a one up on them and ended up knocking Axel down with ease before giving Ryback a good backstabber.

With both men laid out, Del Rio went for a cover.

"This could be it!" JBL yelled as out of nowhere, Dean flew into the ring and onto the pile of men.

"Dean Ambrose, saving his title!"

"That's how you do it!" Angel clapped as she watched Dean roll away from the fray.

"Let's go Ambrose!" The crowd cheered loudly. "Let's go Ambrose!"

After everything, Axel was the first to get to his feet and he aimed his attack on Del Rio. After an Irish Whip across the ring, he hit the man with a huge knee to the face.

"Right to the face of Del Rio!" Cole flinched like he was the one hit. "And here's the cover."

Once again at the count of two, Dean threw himself into the mix to break the pin. "And it's Dean Ambrose again saving the match."

"He understands that he can't afford to let someone else get beat, he loses his championship."

For once she agreed with JBL. "People don't give Dean enough credit, he's a smart guy."

"Smart…but crazy."

Angel rolled her eyes as she watched Dean yell as he smacked the mat in rage. Right now, she wasn't going to win that argument. Not when Dean looked like that. Darkness glinted in his eyes as he went blow for blow with Axel. Although that stopped quickly as Ryback intervened for his partner.

"Axel!" Ryback called as both men grabbed Dean and once again threw him out of the ring. This time however, when Angel thought they were going to turn around and go after Del Rio like they had before, they both ducked out and went after Dean.

Dean hung loosely over their barricade as both men came walking up to him. The air caught in her lungs as she watched both men grab each of his arms, forcing him away from the barricade only to fling him right back against the damn thing.

Even from over at the announcers' table could she hear Dean cry out in pain as he crumbled to the floor. Her urge to race over to him was so strong that she gripped her chair just to stop herself.

"Drop kick by Axel!" Cole said as the action in the ring kept going. Axel went for a cover and thankfully Del Rio kicked out because there was no way that Dean was getting into that ring in time.

Standing up in her chair slightly, Angel looked over at Dean who was barely able to get his body up to set against the barricade. Come on Dean. She pleaded to herself. She had seen this man overcome so much. She had seen him take three time as much punishment and still come out on top. He could do this.

Even as she told herself this, she watched as frustration took over Dean's face as he watched Del Rio now get the upper hand in what was going on. After knocking Axel down, Del Rio hit Ryback with a German Suplex that finished in a pin.

Kick out! Angel yelled to herself, her eyes darting from Dean back to the action. Just when she thought it was all over, Dean somehow once again made the save.

As everyone else was amazed by the feat that Dean had just made, Angel watched him with wide eyes. Something wasn't right. Holding his side and breathing heavily, Dean smacked the mat again, over and over.

She knew his frustration must be pouring over at this point, but the way he stared right into the camera, which she wasn't sure if he knew that he was doing it, but man was it creepy. Shivering, Angel found herself being thankful that they changed the camera angle as he stood up.

Before he was able to get complexly to his feet, Del Rio pounced but Dean was ready. Dean hit him with hit after hit.

"Ambrose is firing up!" Michael Cole laughed as Dean jumped on Del Rio, knocking him to the mat before laying back in on him.

"He's working out some of that frustration."

"He's just a bundle of energy at all times, look at him go."

Angel smirked. "You're telling me."

Just as she thought Dean was going to be able to get a hold of the match, Ryback walked over, grabbed him by the head and pulled him off of Del Rio.

"Stupid." Ryback yelled at him.

"Wrong move." She sighed as Dean got out of the man's hold and gave him a huge smack to the face. The hit rang out through the arena making even those up in the nosebleeds cringe.

Ryback shook his head and started towards Dean with all the attention of repaying him for the hit, but Dean smartly dropped himself down, pulling the top rope with him which sent the big man tumbling out of the ring.

"Ryback mouthing off and Ambrose made him pay!"

Angel watched as Dean shrugged his shoulders at the man on the floor before turning right into a kick to the gut by Del Rio who had gotten up without her realizing it. Stupid tiny screen.

Though Dean didn't let the kick keep him down for long, he followed Del Rio to the ropes, hit him with a knee to the gut before taking off for a drop kick.

"Man, Dean Ambrose is all over the place."

"He has to be." Angel said as she watched Axel flatten him right to the mat. "It might be every man for themselves, but for Dean it's every man against him." She grabbed a pen that was just sitting on the table next to her, squeezing it in her hand as Axel set up the Prefect Pelx.

Though before Axel could hit it, Dean got out and gave a wild swing. Axel then hit Dean with a punch of his own, sending him backwards into the ropes, in which with a split second thinking Dean used it to his advantage and came flying off the ropes with a huge clothesline that had them both lying flat against the mat.

"Come on Dean! Pin him!" She yelled even though she knew the whole world could hear her. Dean went for the pin just as she hoped.

"One!" She heard the crowd call as she looked around to see both Del Rio and Ryback out of commission. Neither one of them were even budged and inch. This could be it.

"Two."

"Come on…" She chomped on the pen.

Axel kicked out.

"No…" She cried along with the crowd boos.

D.D.D.

Dean groaned as he crawled his way over to the ropes. He really had thought he had Axel with that one. Holding onto his singing ribs, he used the ropes to get to his feet. However right before he could get to his feet, a pair of two heavy hands wrapped around his head and pulled him through the ropes.

Dean head spun as he found himself being forced towards the timekeeper's area. And as he was dumped over the small bit of barricade that kept the fighting away from said area all Dean could find himself thinking was thank god Angel ended up doing commentary, or he might have just came spilling down on top of her.

Instead he landed on top of metal chairs and equipment.

The next thing he knew, he felt a delicate hand touch his face. "Dean?"

His vision swirled and slowly unblurred to see Angel knelling on the floor next to him as she tried to unravel him from a bunch of wires. "What's going on?"

Angel looked up over the barricade and sighed. "Del Rio is going for a kick on Axel."

"Shit." He knew right away he was looking for that super kick of his.

"He missed." She told him. "Ryback tried to clothesline him but hit Axel instead."

Dean tried so hard to get himself back in working order as Angel gave the play by play of what was happening but for some reason his body just wasn't listening at moment.

"Ryback is going for the pin!" She cried.

"Fuck." He cursed himself to his hands and knees. "I just need another minute." He gave a glance over at the US title that he was about to lose.

"I'll get you that minute."

Dean head snapped back to the woman beside him only to see she was already gone. "Angel!" He called after her worried about what the hell she had just meant. Surly she didn't mean what he thought.

Crawling out of the timekeeper's area, he watched with wide eyes as Angel ran up to the side of the ring and grabbed onto Axel's leg stopping the man who was crawling his way towards the down Del Rio.

Axel turned around and glared at Angel how was still holding the man's leg. Angel let go of the man and gave him a cute wave all while she backed away from the ring.

"Mother fucker…" Dean sighed as he pushed himself up to his feet.

"What the hell are you doing?" Axel asked her the same questioned that Dean was wondering before he shook his head and started once again for Del Rio.

Ignoring the pain in his body, Dean took off across the ring and rolled Axel up. Holding onto the man for dear life until he heard the bell ring loud and proud.

Had something happened? Was there a DQ? He wondered where Angel was, that was until he heard the Shield's theme being played over the speakers. Which meant one thing, he had won.

However, before he was able to celebrate his win, a heavy weight landed on his back and punches started to hit him in a fury. He felt helpless as all he could do was lay there with his arms up, protecting his head.

When the hits stopped, he wasn't sure why? Though he had a feeling of what it could be as he felt someone trying to pull him towards the edge of the ring.

All the answer became clear as he watched a blur of black rush past him. The Calvary had arrived. Seth and Roman cleared house with a Spear and a Suicide Dive.

Dean smirked as he watched his brothers. Seth set Roman up for a Superman Punch on Axel before racing over and helping him up to his feet.

"You alright man?"

"Yeah." He nodded as he tried to stand on his own two feet.

"You want him?" Seth asked as he pointed down at Axel.

Not bothering to answer the man, Dean quickly reached down and grabbed Axel. Wrangling him to his feet, they turned and faced Roman who was more than ready. The man leaned back and gave his normal battle cry before they lifted Axel up onto his shoulders and shifted into their spots beside him.

Dean gritted his teeth as he used all his might to send Axel down to the mat. "You alright?" It was Roman's turn to ask as he leaned over and clutched his ribs.

"Just peachy." He sighed as he looked up to see Angel sliding his US title into the ring

Stepped forward, he grabbed the thing off the mat and raised it high into the air. He had done it. Somehow, he had beaten the odds and kept his title. For now.

A.A.A

Angel took a deep breath as she watched the boys celebrating Dean's win on the top of the ramp. After Dean had been dumped over the barricade and not the timekeeper's area, she hadn't even thought that this outcome could be possible.

A smile came to her face once again as Dean held his title up in the air once again making the crowd cheer. The show had gone off air about five minutes ago but that didn't stop the three of them from showboating to those to stuck around until the lights completely went out.

"One last fist bump for the crowd?" Seth asked as he turned around and met Roman who already had his fist out.

Dean nodded his head as he signaled for her to come over to him. Without a word, she made her way over and turned around so that he could scoop her up with ease and plop her on his shoulder.

As he walked around his brothers and joined in on their fist bump, she heard him let out a small groan, which told her that his ribs weren't enjoying the extra weight.

"Ladies and Gentlemen." They turned around as the closing announcements started to play.

"Dean you can put me down."

"Nah." He said as they made their way backstage. "If I put you down, you might be able to run away before I can yell at you for what you did."

Yell at me? She questioned.

"Uh-oh." Seth laughed. "Someone's in trouble."

"Here it comes." Roman added.

Angel tried to think about what would make Dean want to yell at her. Then it hit her. He wasn't happy about her interference during the match. "You said you needed a minute and I got you that minute."

Dean gripped her leg and jumped up slightly, making her yelp. "Yeah, but you also put yourself in harm's way."

"Only a little."

"A little, a lot." Dean shook his head as she stumbled slightly. "It doesn't matter…"

In almost an instant Dean's demeanor changed, she knew that he put on a show for the fans. Trying not to show how badly he had been beaten up, but she didn't know that it was this much.

His whole body slumped forward, letting her easily slid off his shoulder and on to the floor. "You alright?" She asked as she turned around and placed a hand on his bicep.

"Just a bit tired." He said as he threw his title around his neck. "But we're not done talking about this."

"I for one can't believe that Angel even stepped in like that." Seth interrupted. "Nicely done."

"Hey." Dean shook his head. "Don't praise her for getting involved."

"Don't praise her?" Roman chuckled. "The girl was amazing out there."

I was?

"As amazing as she was, it could have been really dangerous…"

"Someone's getting soft." Roman teased.

"Woo." Seth clapped his hand as they rounded the corner to head back towards their things.

Angel glanced over at Dean as his walking turned into more of a limp.

"Oh god." Seth said making her look up form Dean. "Look who it is boys."

"Hi." Renee smiled. "Good to see you, Gentlemen."

"Look who it is, huh." Seth said again.

"Hi." Renee seemed taken back.

"Fancy seeing you here."

Frowning slightly, Angel turned and locked eyes with Renee and gave a shrug. She had no idea why Seth was adding so weird right now but hey.

"Just a quick question." Renee tried to ignore Seth. "First of all, congratulations on successfully defending your championship this evening."

"Thank you." Dean said as Seth wrapped an arm around his shoulder.

"But looking forward to this Sunday," Renee stared went straight into reporter mode. "Evolution's been throwing so many obstacles in front of you guys, do you have any game plan this Sunday at Extreme rules."

Dean cringed for a moment before taking his title off his neck. "I'll hold that for you." Seth said as he took the heavy belt from his friend.

"Alright…what's the game plan?" Dean repeated Renee's question. "Same game plan that we had tonight. Go out there with the odds stacked against us, we're the underdogs, they think we're supposed to lose." He said as he rubbed his arm. "Right b ecause they put three guys in the ring with me, all you know getting paid by the Authority. And I was supposed lose my United States Championship."

"It's right there." Roman laughed.

"So, we go in with that game plan that we're supposed to lose against the thirty-seven world champions between them. The three men of Evolution then…. BLOW THEM OUT OF THE WATER!" Dean yelled making her jump.

You would think that she would get used to his sudden outburst, but nope. She pursed her lips at him as both he and Roman glanced down at her.

"You ok?" Roman chuckled in her ear.

She nodded as she continued to listen to Dean ramble on about how they were going to be beat Evolution. "Because we're better, we're thoroughbreds, stallions, wild mustangs. All the things we've said before and you've heard before."

"When we go out there, we out preform everybody, every single night, it's not about Rolex, it's not about limos. It's not about sitting on the world titles you won ten years ago, it's about going out there and getting it done. Being in the fire, in the fight every single night like we are. We are battle tested and we are on fire."

"That's what I'm talking about." Seth said as he handed Dean back his title.

"And Evolution is going to get BURNED."

"And their gonna. They keep putting these roadblocks in front of us." Seth took over as Dean started to grab his head and side again.

Not able to help it, Angel turned her attention away from the promo that was going on and looked at Dean. She grabbed his arm, making him look at her for a moment before he went back to holding his face. "You good?"

"I think my nose is broke." He said very nonchalant as he started to pace.

She blinked at the man. "What did you just say?"

"I think my nose is broke." He repeated as he leaned down and messed with his nose. "Listen."

Angel's whole body went tense and shivered as she heard a weird cracking noise. "You need to get that looked at."

Acting as if he didn't hear her, Dean leaned between Seth and Roman. "Listen to this dude." He said as he cracked his nose again.

"Oh that's cracking." Roman smirked, like it wasn't a bad thing that Dean got his nose busted in a fight.

"That's gross, we got to get that looked at."

"Listen." He leaned forward and made Renee listen to the noise as well.

"Ew!" She shivered away from him. "Ok."

"That ain't even stopping him. That's not stopping him." Roman pointed out as they walked away from the interview.

"Thank you, guys, very much…" Renee didn't know what else to say. "Josh back to you."

"Sorry about him." Angel said as the camera man dropped the camera from his shoulders to signal that they weren't live anymore.

Renee shook her head as she lowered the mic. "Is he going to be ok for our double date?"

She looked back at the three men who were goofing off as they walked down the hall. "He should be…" She hoped.
