Chapter 12
Weekend at the Cullens
Edward and I were still lying on his bed and kissing. I had become very warm by now when Alice rushed into the room.
"I've got your stuff here, Bella!", and after a glance at us, she added an "Oh ... sorry ... here's your stuff, Bella! I didn't mean to disturb you!"
She looked embarrassed before she hurriedly left the room.
Edward threw a nasty look after her.
I had to laugh.
Alice seemed really surprised!
"She's sorry. She was so excited that she didn't pay attention to her visions."
'I wouldn't find the interruption so bad if we picked up where we started,' I thought played soured.
"Anything you want, my angel!" said Edward quickly before pulling me tightly into his arms again, his lips merging with mine.
Later, when my stomach growled, I sighed in annoyance. Edward just grinned mockingly and pulled me down from the bed into the kitchen, where on the dining table was already a plate with spaghetti carbonara.
Yummy, I thought, while it was now his turn to chuckle.
He placed me on the chair and sat next to me.
I peeked darkly.
I wanted to be as close to him as possible, but while I was eating, I couldn't even hold his hand. Why do people always have to be hungry?
Edward sighed and stood up. I looked at him, puzzled.
'Where are you going?'
"Nowhere," he said, grabbing my hips and lifting me up as if I weighed only twelve pounds, sitting down on my chair and placing me on his lap.
Then he wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Satisfied?" he asked.
I grinned at him.
'More than that!'
When I had eaten everything, I was suddenly in Edward's arms, so fast that I didn't notice anything at all.
"You just make me happy, Bella, you know that!" was his simple response to my puzzled face.
When we were back in Edward's room and he carried me towards the bed, I remembered that we had left the others alone all day. I got a guilty conscience.
"Don't worry, Bella. They understand that we want some time to ourselves. Besides, they're in the middle of asking Jonath about his life, and that's probably going to take quite a while."
'Okay.'
I had to yawn. With a glance at the clock, I realized that it was already after 9:00 pm.
I hadn't stayed awake that long in a while. I usually went to bed early, hoping to get the days around faster.
"You're tired. Come on, I'll show you the bathroom, then you can get ready for bed," he said as he walked toward a second door in his room that I hadn't noticed yet.
'You have your own bathroom?'
"Bella, just look at this house! We each have our own bathroom!", he replied with a grin.
Wow ... his bathroom looked great, all black and white.
I had never seen a black bathtub before, but it was really a nice room. On the outside of the glass shower wall hung on a towel bar two bath towels, one black and one white. Next to the sink, which was also black, hung two towels again, also one black and one white.
'It looks really great!'
"Thank you, I set it up myself for once. Usually Esmé or Alice take care of that. You can use the white towels. Esmé hung them up for you."
'Thank you!'
He put down my bag, which he had grabbed on his way to the bathroom, and left the bathroom again.
When I got ready for bed and stepped back into his room, I was about to fall asleep standing up.
Edward, of course, noticed this immediately, stood next to me in the next second, lifted me up and carried me to the bed.
I lay down under the covers and looked at him waiting!
"Do you really want me to get under the covers with you, Bella? I'm cold. You might start to freeze," was all he said.
'Then turn up the heat!'
He grinned wryly at me, did as instructed, and lay down with me under the covers. I snuggled up close to him and he put his arms around me.
I was fast asleep.
I felt like a million bucks!
When I woke up, I realized that I was in two cold arms and my cheek was cold.
I was pleased.
I was lying in my room and Jo was once again lying with me and watching over me. Had I fallen asleep crying again yesterday or why was he still holding me?
"Well, I didn't know you'd rather be in someone else's arms, Bella! But I can get Jonath if you want me to," I heard an offended voice.
Oh no, I wasn't in Phoenix. I was in Forks - at the Cullens', to be exact - in Edward's bed, in his arms! How could I have been so stupid!
"That's not very original to tell me to leave, Bella!"
Before I could say anything back, he broke away from me and hurriedly left the room.
What had I done? 'Edward, wait!' I shouted in my mind, but he didn't come back.
I started to sob.
Suddenly Alice and Jo were standing in front of Edward's bed.
"What happened? Edward just stormed out of the house! I had a vision that he was uprooting some trees in the forest. Bella, what's going on?" asked Alice, her eyes wide.
Jo sat down with me and took my hand.
I reviewed my awakening in my mind and he told it to Alice.
"Oh Bella, that wasn't very smart of you!"
"I know that. I can't tell you how I came up with it either! Oh dear, what am I going to do? How am I going to explain this to Edward?", Jo spoke my thoughts aloud.
"I already have an idea! Come on, let's have breakfast first. Esmé made you pancakes!"
Alice kept her wits about her - she looked confident.
I was just sitting in the Cullens' pool house.
It was a huge glass house that stood in the garden!
Alice had dragged me into her bathroom after breakfast, put a very pretty dark blue bikini in my hand and left me alone in the bathroom.
When I had put on the bikini, she came storming back into the bathroom and placed me on a chair that was in front of the mirror.
I looked around the bathroom while she applied discreet, waterproof makeup. With its sea-blue tiles and sand-colored floor, it gave the impression of sitting on the beach.
"What do you say we invite Charlie over for Sunday night. After all, the boys will officially be back here, and we can have a barbecue for you two. The sun will be shining, which means we can't go out!"
But Charlie will get suspicious if you don't eat with us and he should see you in the sun.
... I wrote on a piece of paper that she had knowingly placed on my dressing table.
"Bella, Charlie has known about us since we moved here!"
WHAT?
"He wanted to welcome us and stupidly the sun was shining that day. I hadn't focused on my visions because I was busy putting things away. And then suddenly he stood there and saw Emmett in the sun ..."
I could imagine that only too well. Jo had shown it to me then. His skin glistened in the sun like diamonds.
"... and then we enlightened him! He knows the stories of all of us. He also knows that Edward is already over a hundred years old and that we all hoped he would find his mate someday. He's not very enthusiastic about that because he wishes another life for you, but when he saw you with him for the first time and realized how happy you are with him, he threw those thoughts overboard. At least that's what Edward told us."
I should become a vampire too? I should stay with Edward and the Cullens and Jo forever!
That thought was kind of nice and it reassured me that my dad was on my side and knew about the Cullens too!
Now I was sitting here - completely made ready by Alice - in the pool house, waiting for Edward. Alice had told me he would be there in five minutes. However, in my opinion, since she had left the pool house, five hours had already passed.
How was I going to explain this to Edward? I had an idea ... How would he react to my apology?
Shortly thereafter, he entered the pool house.
He had a black bathing suit on and was still wearing a white T-shirt over it. He didn't look at me, just looked at the floor in front of him.
Edward stopped short behind the door.
"You have something to tell me, the others said?! Just tell me what you think. Don't worry, you won't hurt me. Just say it straight out!"
He seemed ancient and sad!
