Chapter Seventy Nine
"Ok, ok…" Brad groaned from the floor. "I'll make you guys guest commutators." He said putting his hands up like he was surrendering.
Dean got off the man and brought Brad's phone to his face. "Make it official!" He ordered.
Angel felt a small bit of guilt hit her as Brad cracked open his eyes and grabbed the thing. Dean and Roman had beaten the guy up pretty bad but she knew this was the only way to get what they wanted. Threatening didn't work with the Authority, but brute strength did.
Brad brought the phone to his ear. "Hi, Hank." She could make out the man's voice on the other side. "Um, you know the Seth vs Batista match that's happening tonight. Yeah that one." Brad glanced around at the Dean who was hovering above him with a snarl on his face. "Well we're going to have a few official guest commentators. Yeah, the Shield. All of them. Yep. Make it happen, bye." He hung up the phone. "You happy?"
Roman sauntered up to him and grabbed him by the collar. "Ecstatic."
…
By the time it was time for them to head up to the top entrance for Seth's match, Angel was listening to the show through Dean' headphones which she stole from his bag. She could hear what sounded like a strange interview with Renee, the Usos, and John Cena. It seemed like a weird jumble mess that probably had Renee laughing.
Suddenly the interview turned into a promo with Evolution. Slowing her pace, she put her hand over the earbud so she could hear what was going on.
"If these guys think that's all we got for them, then they are dumber than I thought. This is just the beginning." She heard Hunter say with a chuckle in his voice. The promo was the same was always. They talked about how they were going to take the Shield apart one at a time, starting with Seth tonight. Nothing new.
"You got this." Hunter asked.
"Yeah." Batista snickered. "I got it and I'm going to do it all by myself."
I knew it. Angel boasted to herself. She could tell just by the way that the words 'all by myself' came from Batista's mouth, that Hunter and Randy were going to be a part of this match somehow. Which made her feel a bit better about what happened with Brad Maddox.
"You alright over here?" She looked up to see that Dean had slowed down to walk beside her. "You're falling behind."
"Sorry, I was just listening to a promo with Evolution." She dug her phone out of her pocket and turned off the live broadcasting of the show.
"Yeah and what'd they say?" He asked as he eyed up his headphones.
"Same thing as always, they're going to take you guys apart one at a time, blah blah blah. At the end, Batista did give a little hint that Hunter and Randy are coming down for the match. 'I'm going to do it all by myself.'" She air quoted.
Dean nodded before pointing at his earbuds. "You better take care of those; they are my only pair."
"If they get broken, I'll by you new ones." She said as she put both them and her phone in to the pocket of the cargo pants she picked to wear tonight.
"How are we doing this?" Roman asked as they stopped outside of the entrance. "Seth's being sent out first. Do we go down with him?"
"Nah." Dean smirked. "We wait, to see what Hunter and Randy do before we come down. That way they think they got a one up on us."
"What makes you think that they don't already know? Surly Brad told them what went down." She looked up at Dean whose smirk grew. "What did you do?"
"I would say due to the state we left him in it would be a little hard to send the message, without his phone." He dug through his pocket and pulled out a cell phone that she didn't recognize.
"You didn't?" She gasped as Roman gave him a slap on the back.
"I'll give it back. After the show."
"You ready man?" Roman asked Seth.
Seth's eyes darted up from the floor. "Always."
The Shield's theme hit and after a quick good luck from each of them, Seth pushed through the entrance and into the crowd.
Now was the hard part. Waiting. Angel bit her nail as she waited for something to happen. Anything that would give them a sign of what was going on. The Shield's theme died down and suddenly Triple H's theme started up.
"Here we go." Roman sighed as they all leaned in to hear what was going on.
"Now ladies and Gentlemen please welcome, your special guest ring announcer Triple H."
"There it is." Dean sighed as he punched his tapped-up hands together.
"Now I am the special guest ring announcer but as COO of WWE it is my job to make sure that all these matches are as big as possible." Hunters voice rang out. "That is why right now I'm adding a special guest timekeeper to the match, as well. Please help me welcome him now…."
"Randy Orton." Angel said at the same time as Hunter did. She let out a breath as Randy's theme started, Evolution had played right into their hands. They had shown their cards earlier in the show and now the Shield was ready to pull a few aces from their pockets.
"And now please everyone, help me welcome your opponent. Representing Evolution, the Animal, Batista!"
"Hold on." Roman put his hand out just in time to stop Dean front walking out. Seth was supposed to give them their que.
Come on Seth. Angel pleaded, hopping that the beatdown hadn't already started.
"You know, I got some special guests of my own to make this match as big as possible!" Seth's voice rang out. "So, let me introduce to you, the special guest commentators, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Angel Miles!"
The Shield's theme rang out once more as the crowd cheered. As they stepped out into the crowd, Angel looked around to see Batista, Randy, and Hunter freaking out. Apparently, Brad wasn't able to get the message to them about the sudden change in plans.
At the bottom of the stairs, Dean stopped and helped her over with a warning to stay close to him. Once all three were over the barricade, Angel made sure to listen to the man and stayed close enough to be safe but not so close that if something did break out she would be in the way.
"Come on guys, we got to get this show on the road." Dean taunted as Evolution stared them down. "We all go jobs to do out here, why don't we just get it done." When no one moved, he threw his arm around her and pushed her towards the announce table.
"Dean and Angel are joining us." She heard Cole say as he handed them headsets. "Welcome, You two."
"Thanks for having us."
"Hey guys, how are you? Let me tell you…" Dean said into his mic as the bell rang for the match to start. "Ok Randy does know how to do his job, at least he can do something well." He smirked. "Guys were just hear to add our expertise, and our verbal wit and charm to this broadcast."
"Yeah but to be down here you supposed to be official." JBL yelled at them.
"We are." Angel said proudly as she tried to ignore Dean smack talking Randy.
"You're not going to going over here and do your job?" He asked the man who was walking away. "You're supposed to be the timekeeper and you know stay in the timekeeper's area." He shook his head in disappointment. "I think Randy's scared to come over here."
"I do too." She nodded.
"We have some special guest commentators." Lawler said with a smile.
"Hi." Angel smiled back at him.
"What are you doing out here?" JBL asked clearly annoyed.
"As Dean said, we're out here to add our charm to the broadcast." She answered as if it was obvious. "That's all."
"Unless Evolution get involved in this and gets in the way of Seth knocking off Batista." Dean threatened even though Hunter and Randy couldn't hear them.
Even though Angel knew they were down here to be backup for Seth, she sat down in the chair that was brought over to her and actually tried to watch the match that was taking place but with all the voices in the headsets it wasn't an easy task.
"The match is underway between the Animal and Seth Rollins. We've been joined by the official guest…"
"Wait a minute they're not official." JBL Spoke up.
"I told you were are." Angel sighed.
"How are you guys official?" He glanced up at her before turning back towards the action.
"Hey, how about you go ask Brad Maddox if we're official guest commutators tonight, he's in the trainers' room right now." Dean smirked over at Roman. "Right Roman?"
"Brad Maddox is the one who made you guys official."
"The Raw General manager." Both Cole and Dean said at the same time.
"Hey JBL if you're not comfortable with us being…" Dean trailed off as Seth started to lay in on Batista in the corner. "Go Seth Go!" He cheered.
"I thought a commentator is supposed to be unbiased?" JBL sighed.
"Since when?" She blinked at him. He was the most biased person on the panel.
"If you're uncomfortable with us being out here…"
"No, I'm not uncomfortable…"
"…You can just get up and leave until this match is over. I won't be offended…"
"Why is Brad in the trainers' room…"
"I understand you don't want to be out shined."
JBL and Dean fought to talk over each other. However due to Dean's loud and raspy voice, he ended up winning. "Speaking of being outshined, Seth Rollins is in the ring with Batista right now…"
Just as he said it, Batista pulled Seth through the bottom rope and dragged him over to the barricade where he smashed his head onto the top of it.
"Why is Brad in the trainers' room?" JBL asked again.
"Because I put him there." Roman finally spoke up making her jump slightly.
"There's your answer." Cole sighed.
Dean chuckled as he leaned against her. "You asked the question and you already knew the answer." He sang as Seth rolled back into the ring.
"Is that after he made you official commentators?" JBL asked.
"Keep up with the story, JBL, you're a professional"
"You ask a lot of questions." Roman said again his voice low.
Batista put Seth up on his shoulders for what looked like a powerslam.
"Come on flip out of there." Dean said just as Seth did indeed flip out of the hold before landing an Enziguri
"There you go!" She clapped as she tried to push against Dean who was slowly putting more an more weight on her.
"We're going to commercial here." Said a voice in the headset.
"Stay with us!" Dean called just as the lights dimmed ever so slightly.
"You should be on here all the time." Angel laughed as she looked up at him only to notice he was chomping a piece of gum She cringed when she thought of the sound being picked up in his headset.
"You think?" He smiled down at her, those baby blues bounced between her and what was going on in the ring.
For shit and giggles, she looked the man up and down and nodded. "I think so. You look good like that." And he did. He was wearing his Shield gear which was already sexy on him. But sometime during the night, his hoodie came undone and it being open showing off his black tank top under neither seemed to really do it for her.
"Hey! Quit flirting it's gross." JBL yelled.
"Yeah." Roman chuckled. "You know we all can hear you. And if it comes back from commercial everyone at home can hear you too."
Angel blushed as the lights came back up.
"And we're back on Monday Night Raw with Seth Rollins one on one with Batista. Triple H has made himself special guest ring announcer tonight, Randy Orton special guest timekeeper. Yet we got special guest commentators at ringside, Ambrose, Miles and Regins of the Shield…."
Michael Cole's voice was drowned out as Batista threw Seth into the steel steps farthest from them, sending him flipping through the air only to land hard on his back. Hissing, Angel tensed to go check on the poor man, but Dean stopped her with a hard look.
"Is he alright? Can you see him?" Roman asked through the mics.
Dean leaned over the German announce table a little bit. "Yeah, he'll be alright."
"And apparently Brad Maddox, whose now in the trainers' room, is the one who made these guys the special guest commentator."
"You're so concerned about Brad Maddox why don't you go back to the trainers' room and check on him JBL." Lawler sighed.
"Yeah, that would be nice." Cole nodded.
"It would be." Angel said almost absentmindedly as she watched Batista grabbed Seth by the hair using it to slam him headfirst into the steps. "You could make sure he's doing alright?"
"You talking about Seth or Brad?" Dean asked.
"Oh um, Brad. I think that it would be nice if JBL left to go check on him." She answered.
"But then there wouldn't be a balanced commentary team out here." JBL said mumbling something about him being the only unbiased person here.
"Seth Rollins is going to get back into this fight." Dean said ignoring the real commentators talking. "Batista calls himself the Animal but let me tell you, we are all animals, the Shield. We are wild animals, we are the Hounds of Justice." Even as Dean said this Batista still had the upper hand as he hunt Seth up on the top rope, choking him.
Come on Seth. Angel silently cheered as Cole started to talk about their match at Payback. She hopped that Dean was right, that Seth was going to be able pull himself back into the fight. But as Batista landed a basement dropkick that knocked him back onto the floor, she wasn't so sure about that.
Worry filled her as she tried to see Seth from around Dean. She didn't like how much time he was spending on the floor.
"Come on Seth!" Dean smacked the German announce table making the men sitting there jump. "Yeah, anything goes at Payback this time. And this time we're going to finish the job we started." He said as Hunter and Randy made their way up to where Seth was trying to get back to his feet. "Hey, you're getting a little too close for comfort there, Triple H." Dean yelled into the mic as he started to pace in small steps. It looked as if Dean was having trouble control himself.
Batista went for the pin, but Seth kicked out at one. "There you go, Seth!"
"Seth is just like every member of the Shield, you can dish out as much punishment as you can possible give, we go down, but we don't stay down."
The headlock that Batista had on Seth quickly changed into a sleeper hold submission move and Angel found her heart pounding in her chest as shew watched Seth fight. Get out of there. She tried to will Seth in her mind. Get out.
"Seth Rollins ain't going stay down tonight." Dean's voice rang in the headset as she felt something rub her back. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw that Dean had stepped in closer to her, close enough that his chest rubbed against her back as he swayed. The man was getting antsy, which wasn't good. "You owe him one Seth!"
"And Batista looking to wear out Seth Rollins…." Cole started in his normal lead commentator speech. "Couple of weeks ago Batista took out Rollins in match on Smackdown, Rollins though was less than a hundred percent that night."
"I think we're all a little banged up." Dean sighed. "You know we uh, we took one on the chin from Evolution a few weeks back but like I said you can put us down, but we'll just keep coming back up."
"Well Batista is looking to take out Rollins tonight and give the advantage to Evolution as we look towards Payback, in a couple of weeks."
"You guys going to be a hundred percent at Payback?" JBL asked
"JBL I'm a hundred percent every day of the week, alright?" Dean answered, making Angel bit her tongue. Part of her wanted to call him out on being 'A hundred percent' any day of the week, but she felt like doing it on commenarty wouldn't be the best place. "Romans Regins is hundred percent every day of the week, look at that eye. Look at that eye, nine stitches, is that the best you all got? Roman's mother hit him harder than that when he was growing up."
Roman laughed. "That's a true story."
"Nine stitches, that's all. I want you to count how many stitches we give Evolution by the end of Payback…" Dean was sure running his mouth. "At least nine a piece which would be twenty-seven."
"May have just started right there." Roman comments as Seth got out of the sleeper hold by working his way up to his feet before dropping back down to the mat, busting Batista's chin off the top of his head.
"I don't know about stitches but that's going to hurt in the morning." She chimed in as Seth got back to his feet with two brutal chops.
"Chop him down!" Dean yelled.
Seth raced back and forth on the mat, until running right into a huge clothesline that sent him reeling through the air on down face first on the mat. Smartly Batista coved Seth.
"Come on."
"Kick."
Angel heard both Dean and Roman mumble under their breaths as they watched their friend. Just as she thought the match was over, Seth kicked out.
Angel clapped her hands and cheered for the man in the ring before she was yanked behind Dean. "You got something to say?" He asked as he pulled the mic away from his mouth a bit. "I can't hear you because I'm on the headset. I can't hear you because I'm on the headset doing my job!"
Peeking her head around the man in front of her, Angel saw Hunter standing not too far away rolling his eyes. In the ring right in front of him, Seth came plowing into the turnbuckle. A smirk appeared on Hunters face as he walked up to the apron and leaned in.
From where she was standing, she could tell he was saying something, could see his mouth moving, but she couldn't make out what it was. For some reason the scene hit her wrong, she wanted to run over there and pull Seth away. Like Hunter's words were hurting him more than Batista's punches.
"Talk all the trash you want Hunter!" Dean's voice dropped down so low that even though she knew his words weren't aimed at her, it sent a chill down her spine. Something about Dean's voice in her ears like this, it was strange. "Talk, talk, talk, talk. Talk about how you're going to humble us, talk about how you're going to teach us a lesson, Hunter. And see if it gets done at Payback, because it ain't"
Pulling the mic away from her face she turned towards Dean. "Something isn't right."
He drew his brows together and shook his head. "He's got this."
"That's not what…."
Dean's eyes snapped away from her to what was going on in the ring. "Things could get ugly. Batista put Seth up on the top rope. Seth Rollins is very comfortable on the top rope. Believe me."
"It might be uncomfortable if somehow Batista is victorious in this match, what are you going to do then?" Lawler asked.
"We'll do what we have to do." Angel gritted her teeth together as she watched Batista and Seth fight for control on the top rope.
"He's got this."
"What does that mean?" JBL asked. "What are you going to do if Batista wins?"
"You win some, you lose some." Dean shrugged. "But I don't think we're going to lose tonight."
"AND ROLLINS!" Cole shouted as Seth jumped from the ropes and hit Batista with a neck breaker.
"Oh, he's in it." Roman nodded. "Game changer right there."
"That it was." Lawler agreed. "You can see the look of concern on the face of Triple H all of a sudden."
"Dynamic offence from Seth Rollins. Slipping off the second rope with a neck breaker. I don't think Batista has seen that move in his life." Dean started to rep Seth. "We've got a lot of stuff that Evolution has never seen in their big long careers with all their championships. We're going to show them at Payback."
"Here comes something else." Lawler called as Seth went running at Batista only to run right into a boot to the face.
"Ouch." She hissed out.
"They got experience, they got savvy, they pull out things like that." Dean nodded. "Seth Rollins a little over aggressive there, but you know what, WE'VE OVER AGREESSIVE TYPES OF PEOPLE!" Everyone wearing headsets cringed at Dean's loudness.
"You're telling me." Angel sighed making Dean smirk at her.
Seth came back into the match with a kick to Batista's face and a sling blade. "Come on Seth!" Angel cheered as move as close to the ring as the headset would allow her. However instead of pinning the man like she would have thought he would have, Seth picked to deal out more punishment.
"Come on buddy." Dean clapped his hands as Seth hit the Animal with two corner splashes, only to be caught up in what looked like a German Suplex, however Seth blocked it.
"Nice counter."
One Batista's second attempt, Seth flipped himself over the man and landed on his feet.
"Like a cat." As Dean said.
"And Batista sent through the ropes!" Cole called out as they all watched the drop kick that Seth had just pulled off.
"Come on Seth, keep it going buddy!" Roman cheered.
"Seth Rollins is about to go high risk and when Seth goes high risk…" Dean said as Seth send himself flying through the ropes at Batista. "…it is high risk."
Angel bit her lip as she looked at both men laying on the floor, holding random parts of their bodies. In her ears she could hear Roman and Dean beaming about their teammate's talents and guts. But she was more worried about the way they hit the barricade.
Though in time, Seth does slowly make his way to his feet.
"They ain't going to touch you." Dean said as Seth stared down Hunter and Randy. "They ain't going to touch you."
"I wouldn't have that much faith in them Dean." Lawler said just as Randy came running around the ring to stop Seth who had already thrown Batista back into the ring. As Seth jumped over the attack, the air around the announce table shifted.
Before she could even comprehend what was going on, Angel found herself once again behind Dean. "HEY!" He barked as Randy threw his hands up acting as if he was innocent.
"He didn't do anything." JBL defended Randy.
Quickly Randy backed away as Seth pointed out that Dean and Roman were standing there watching his back. "Real smart, Randy real smart." Dean sighed before the sounds of th headset hitting the table echoed loudly in Angel's ears. Looking up, she saw that Dean and Roman were slowly walking away from the table.
"He's in for it now." She said leaning against the table. "One thing you don't do is tick off Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns." She watched as the two men walked around the ring.
Eyes darting back in forth from the drama that was developing on the floor and the match that was going on in the ring, Angel found it hard to keep up with it all.
In the ring, Batista had placed Seth with a spinebuster that sent the crowd into a sudden chant of 'Boo-tista'. Out of the ring, Dean and Roman quickly made their way to the back of the ring, getting as close to Hunter and Randy, however before anything could start, the two members of Evolution ran to the opposite side.
Taking a deep breath, she looked up just in time to see Seth kick a charging Batista right in the face. With the 'Animal' stunned, Seth took the moment to use the ropes to get enough height that he was able to hit Batista with a knee to the jaw.
The pin looked good, but Batista kicked out a two and a half.
"Come one Seth!" She cried as he rushed back to the ropes.
Seth jumped up onto the top rope with ease, though before he could get his balance, Hunter came running over and pushed him off.
"What!" Her eye widened as she searched for the ref in all this. Her heart sank when she saw him fighting with Randy Orton on the far side, meaning he didn't see the interference. And due to company rules, if the ref didn't see it then it didn't happen.
However, Hunter's actions didn't go unpunished for long as Dean came flying around the ring and started to hit him with everything he had, that was until Randy grabbed him. As Dean went flying over the German announce table, Angel abandoned the headset and raced towards him.
She could hear people screaming and cheering as she moved the wires and junk from around Dean's body. "You ok?"
"Just peachy, darling." He grumbled as he cracked his jaw. "Play by play please."
Nodding, Angel peeked up over the table to see Roman and Randy going at it. "Roman and Randy are fighting. Seth's still down in the ring. Roman pushed Randy by the timekeeper's area."
"Orton's got a chair!" She heard someone yell as Roman hunched over and grabbed his stomach.
"Oh god!" She gasped.
"What?" Dean said tried to get to his feet faster. Angel watched in horror as the metal chair came down on Roman's back, knocking him to the floor. "Angel!"
"Randy's got a chair!"
"Shit."
Dean practically jumped to his feet, his head swirling around until he saw Randy who seemed to be looking for something in the timekeeper's area. Quicker than a man who was just thrown over a table should move, Dean hopped up onto the announce table and raced across, leaping at Randy, the two crashed down in the timekeeper's area. Though before Dean could do anything else, Hunter ripped him over the barricade. Hunter then grabbed him by the back of the vest and threw him headfirst into the steel post.
Angel's heart leaped in her chest as she watched Dean fall, his eyes glazed over.
All around her chaos started to flow through the arena as the crowd started to chant 'this is awesome'. The match seemed to be forgotten until Hunter caught Seth with a right hook, ending it.
D.D.D.
Dean heard the bell ring inside of his spinning head. That hit to the steel pole really sent him into a fog. One that he couldn't shake until he felt himself getting picked up. He tried his best to figure out what move he was being set up in, only to realize it was a Pedigree as his arms were lifted up behind him and his head was forced between who he figured to be Hunters legs.
"Let him go!" Someone screamed as Hunter paused. But that was all he needed, using everything he could Dean reversed the move by sending Hunter up and over his bad.
Not even stopping to check on the crunching noise he heard behind him, he raced off to help Seth who was still in the ring with Batista. Still being a little wobbly on his feet, from his head being all jacked up, he wasn't surprised when Batista was able to get to the rope for him. Before his eyes could focus on the man, he felt something hit the side of his head.
Cursing, Dean felt his body crumble down to the floor. Fighting through the knew found pain, he gave his head a shake and tried to focus once again on the ring. Thankfully instead of seeing, Batista setting Seth up for the Batista Bomb, he saw Roman flying through air spearing the 'Animal'.
Quickly with everyone from Evolution, Dean pushed himself off the floor and made his way into the ring. As he paced around towards Seth and Roman, his mind raced around with everything that he wanted to do to Evolution at Payback. All the pain, all the hurt he was going to inflict on them. His blood pumped; his heart raced.
"Batista gets it." Seth growled as they high fived.
No other words were needed. Dean raced over to grab the Hollywood star off the mat only to see Hunter making his way up onto the apron. "Oh no you don't." He took off running, throwing his body into the air at last second for a drop kick. When he turned back to finish his task, Batista was being pulled out of the ring by Randy.
"Fucking run away." He growled as he turned his stare back at Hunter who was being led around the ring by the ref. "Run away!" He called before gesturing for Angel to join them in the ring.
He watched her closely as she slid into the ring, her hazel eyes were dotted with tears as she stood up to face him. His chest swelled as he grabbed her and pulled her into him, making her join him for his erratic pacing.
Her tears added to the fire that burned inside him. Now, he didn't want to wait until Payback to his hands on them. Oh, but at Payback it wasn't just going to be his hands. Anything goes bastards, and with me anything will happen. You're shit out of luck.
He would remind them why he was the king of the Death Match.
A.A.A
"Angel, where the hell are we?" Dean asked as he looked around.
Angel smiled as she pulled her little backpack purse around and grabbed out the two water bottles, she had hidden in it. "It's called Rivelin Valley Nature Trail." She handed him one of the bottles.
"Ok? Now why are we here?"
Angel sighed. After last night at Monday Night Raw, Dean had been on edge; or last least more on edge then he had been this entire tour. She didn't know what was going on in that brain of his but knew that it wasn't good. He had closed down a pub last night and had gotten up before the sun this morning to start a brutal work out. Then on the almost three-hour bus ride to Sheffield, he could barely sit still. She was wondering how he didn't tire himself out with all the bouncing and twitching.
Not able to take a nap like she normally did, she looked up things to do in Sheffield, and this trail caught her eye. It was a lovely walking trail that seemed to be just what the doctor order, or at least she hoped.
"I thought you liked nature." She answered as she started in onto the trail.
"I do."
"Well then shut up and walk with me."
With a small huff he did what she told him.
Once they got off the tour bus, she pulled Dean away from Roman and Seth who were more than happy to be get rid of his grumpy ass for a bit. They got into a cab and came here. Now she just hoped that she could get him to relax a little bit.
A goal that seemed like a pipe dream as she heard Dean grumble to himself and throw his arm out at an overgrown bush like it had attacked him, which made a group of joggers made a huge b-line around him.
Signing she was about to give up. Maybe he was just too gone right now. She kicked at a rock as they went to cross the first bridge of the trail. As she stepped off the bridge, she realized that Dean wasn't following her anymore.
Turning around, she looked back to see Dean had stopped halfway across and was leaning on the railing. Her eyes went wide as she looked up at him, he looked almost like a different man as he watched the water flow under him. Those harsh line that had been on his face seemed to ease and his eyes looked soft and bright.
Smiling slightly at the sight, she walked back up to him. "What ya, looking at?"
Dean nodded towards the water. "Just some ducks."
Looking over the wall, she saw a group of five ducks all swimming around. "Awe, they're so cute." Angel smiled as she pulled out her phone and took a picture of two of the ducks were flapping their wings.
Suddenly a heavy weight wrapped around her, pressing her harder into the stone wall. She laughed as she pushed against him. "Hey."
"Sorry, am I squishing you?"
"A little bit." She grunted.
He chuckled as he pulled them away from the wall. And just like that they started down the trail again. As they walked, she felt more and more being put on her shoulders until she was half bent over.
"Is something wrong?" Dean asked.
"Yeah, I have a two-hundred-pound mass on back."
"I'm two hundred pound and twenty-five pounds. And not all of it is on you."
"Shut up and get off."
He snickered and eased up. "You didn't say that the other night."
She gasped as she stood up straight. "Dean!" She swung her arm around trying to hit him.
Dean jumped away. "What?"
"We're in public."
"We are."
When she rolled her eyes at him, he wrapped his arm around her again. As he pulled her closer, she heard him mumbled something into her hair.
"What was that?"
"Thank you." He said a bit louder.
"For what?" She glanced up at him.
"I know you brought me here to try to calm me down."
"Is it working?"
He smirked as he gave her head a kiss. "Maybe."
Feeling a bit giddy that her plan was really working, Angel looked around and her eyes widened. "This is it!" She said pulling away from Dean. She rushed up to the stream that was in front of them. This was the part of the trail that made her think that this place would be perfect. The trail turned into steppingstone path over the stream.
"You're getting very excited over some creek."
"Oh, come on." She said pointing in front of him. "Look at it, it's so pretty."
"Are we going to cross?" Dean walked up behind her.
"Of course." She turned once against towards the steppingstone only to freeze when she realized that some of the gaps between the steppingstones were farther apart then she had noticed in the picture. A couple of them looked to far for her legs. No backing out now. She took a deep breath and started across, slowly.
She paused when she same up to one of the larger gaps. "What's the hold up." Dean asked against her ear, making her jolt forward. She squealed as she slipped from the rock, though before she hit the water, a strong arm shot out and wrapped around her.
She grabbed his arm as tight as she could. "I'll kill you, if you drop me." She threatened.
Laughing, he pulled her back up onto her feet. "I would like to see you try." She pushed against him and they both teetered. "If I go down you do too." She pursed her lips at him which made him smirk.
By the time they got across, she was shaking. Dean was being, well Dean and was following every step she made making it almost impossible for her to make it across the water.
"When we come back, you're going first." She said taking a deep breath.
"It's not my fault that you took forever."
"Well maybe if you weren't right behind me, I wouldn't have taken so long."
"Nah."
D.D.D.
Dean smirked at Angel as he watched her play in the water. She had taken off her shoes and socks before rolling up her jeans before jumping into the small stream that ended their hike. This was a peaceful moment that he was glad to have. Peaceful wasn't something that had been in his life all that much lately, so any chance he got to experience some, he would take it."
For once his mind wasn't racing, his body wasn't twitching. He was just sitting in the grass next to Angel's things, watching as she splashed around. All the other people who were on the trail looked at her funny, which he could understand it wasn't the warmest day to be playing in the water. But fuck them, she was having fun.
"Dean!" She giggled as she twisted herself around to look at him. "Come on, it's not that bad." She said even as her teeth chattered.
"I'm good." He shook his head.
"Awe come on!"
"Do you know how long it will take me to get these boots back on?"
"Party pooper." She sloughed her way towards land.
"You can keep playing." He told her. "Don't let me ruin your fun."
She reached down and grabbed her phone off her backpack and sighed. "It's about time to head back anyways."
"Back to the grind." He sighed as his mind seemed to switch back on. They had so much left to do for the four. They had more interviews, a couple more house shows, then a trip home and Raw the next day. Then after all of this, he had less then two weeks until he was able to get his hands-on Evolution again at Payback. He couldn't wait to punch, Hunter, Randy, or Batista in their smug faces.
Movement beside him brought him out of his mind and back to what was happening around him. He turned to see Angel had sat down to put on her shoes. There was that peaceful feeling again. All the aggressive thoughts bleed from his mind as he watched the woman. When she was finished, she leaned back and took a deep breath.
Not able to stop himself, he reached over and pulled her into his lap, wrapped his arm around her and rested his head on her shoulder.
"You ok?" She asked as she settled into him.
He nodded as he kissed her on his neck. "Just enjoying not having Seth and Roman breathing down our necks."
She giggled. "I'm enjoying it too, but we really do have to get back."
Sighing, he loosened his hold on her. She hopped up, turned around, and held out her hand. "Shall we."
Dean raised a brow at her hand. "You think you're going to be able to help me up?"
"Try me." She challenged.
Almost instantly he grabbed her hand and pulled her right down against him. "I told you."
A.A.A.
Another day, another interview. Angel sighed as they were led through the broadcast building to get to the room that housed the radio station they going to be being interviewed for. "Here you are." The lady said as she pushed open the door and leaned her head in.
"Ah, our special guests are here! When we come back from commercial, we're going to be talking to WWE's the Shield." She heard a man in the room who she guessed was Alex Rider say.
"Alright you're good to go." The lady stepped to the side to let them through.
"Hey guys!" The man behind the desk stood up to shake their hands. "Come in. Sit down, sit down." He pointed to the seats all around the studio. "We'll get you some headphones and mics."
Quickly the radio crew ran around to get ready for when they came back from commercial.
"Welcome back!" Axel called. "I have sitting right in front of me, the Shield and god they look intimidating. I understand why they are called the most dominate force in all of WWE. But not only that we have one of WWE's power couples."
Power couple? Angel had to stop herself from laughing out loud.
"Welcome, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Angel Miles."
"Morning." Seth answered him.
"What's up, my man."
"So, the other day we let the listeners know that you were coming in. And we told them tweet us some questions for you guys." Alex explained what was about to happen. "You ready for this?"
"Totally." Dean sniffed as he ran his fingers through his hair.
"First up, is the Shield excited for Payback?"
"Are we excited for another chance to get our hands on Evolution, oh yeah." Roman answered.
Alex snickered. "I'm been watching your feud with them for a while now and it seems like it's really heating up. Was there a moment where you just went, screw it?"
"Nah." Dean shook his head. "Not really. There wasn't a certain moment, it was more of just a constant buildup of shit that's been happening."
Angel sighed. "Hey Alex, what's the rules about swearing on here?"
"Oh sh…crap." Dean went a little red faced. "Did I swear? Sorry man that's just the way I talk."
"You cool." Alex laughed. "I'm sure if anyone says anything you could just take them out."
"Right." Seth laughed.
"Next Question is from user Labinnacslove, they wrote: Question for Dean and Angel, you two are so different, I was wondering what you liked to do together?"
Angel blinked as she looked up at Dean. "Oh wow, I wasn't expecting anything for just me and Dean." She said almost without thinking about it. "What do we like doing together?"
"Well…" Dean's said with a cocky voice. "I could tell you one thing…" She glared at the man as everyone started to laugh. "What I was going to say, play pole."
"Oh yeah. That's true." Roman agreed. "These two like to tear up the pole tables when we go out."
"They are quite competitive." Seth added. "Sometimes cheating is involved."
"I could see that. Next question, is from Sonia and they ask, what's your favorite part about being in the Shield?"
There was a moment of silence as everyone thought about the question.
"Working with my three best friends." Roman said. "Dean and Seth really helped me out when I came into the business. And to be able to work with them every night and fight alongside them. That's amazing."
"God, that's so cheesy." Dean chuckled.
"What were you going to say?" Roman gave him a small push on the shoulder.
"I was going to say… Being the most dominate three man stable in all of WWE history alongside the three people who mean the most to me."
"And what I said is cheesy? You just said the same thing."
As the two bickered, Seth leaned forward. "Being able to fight wars with these guys is great. Being the top dogs in the company is an amazing feeling. There's too much to say that one part of it is my favorite."
"Alright he won for cheesiest answer."
"Just you wait." Angel stopped Dean from rewarding Seth. "My answer might just top that. Just like what they said, working along side each other is the best feeling in the world, but my favorite thing about being part of this team is the fact that the team doesn't stop when we leave the ring. A lot of teams are just together for the show because they work good together. This team stays together because we are friends. Our teamwork, our partnership doesn't end when the bell rings."
"She wins."
"Another one for Dean and Angel, oh this a long multiparter and there are all for Angel."
"Me?" Angel pointed at herself. Why would anyone have questions for just her? Her part in the Shield was the most boring. She was the manager, not the Powerhouse, Architect or the Lunatic Fringe, what did they want to know about her?
"User SilentMayhem wants to know, how is yours and Dean's relationship affected by the Shield? As well as do you have any plans for the guys careers outside of the ring?"
"Alright there's a lot to unpack there." Angel tried to piece together a coherent answer. "How does being in the Shield affect mine and Dean's relationship?" She thought about it. "I'm not so sure that the Shield itself affects our relationship…"
"Other than the fact that Seth and Roman like to nose around our business." Dean quickly added in.
"Other than that, being part of the Shield isn't what I would say affects our relationship. I would say it more of the nature of the job. I mean how many people can say that their relationship when public the way ours did."
"That's true." Alex laughed. "A kiss at WrestleMania, that's surly one way to do it."
Angel heard the small groan that came from Dean. She knew that their relationship was something that he didn't like to answer questions about.
"Do you guys use a lot of social media?" Axel asked.
"Seth and I do." Roman answered. "These two don't."
Axel raised a brow and looked taken back. "You don't use social media? How is that possible in this day and age?"
"I don't know really like it." Dean stated in a matter of fact way. "I've never been the type of person that wants to see what everyone is doing all the time. I could care less what kind of diner you had or if you got a new shirt."
"And I just don't think about it. I have a Twitter…I think everyone at WWE has one, but I just never think to look at it."
"Well when your relationship become pubic, you two were trending. Everyone was talking about it. Even those who didn't watch wrestling were."
"Tell us about it." Seth laughed. "Every time I looked at my feed, I saw this one's ugly mug." He pointed at Dean.
"So, you say that being in the Shield really hasn't affected your relationship, right?"
"I mean it has but not in the way that people think. If I hadn't joined the Shield, I don't think we would even have a relationship to talk about." Angel said as she shifted in her spot.
"Oh?" Alex asked.
"Yeah, before joining, I don't think I said more than three words to Dean. And I'm pretty sure he didn't even know I existed.
"Wow, that is different than what most of the fans think."
"And what do they think?" Dean asked with a slightly annoyed tone to his voice.
"Well, they think that you two were together since before Angel joined the Shield. They think that's why he would come racing down to save her after what happened with Randy."
"That makes sense why you would think that but nope." Angel laughed. "He was just being a good guy."
"Alright, the second part of the question was whether or not you have plans for the Shield's career outside of the ring? So, do you?"
Angel shook her head. "Not as of right now. I mean I do set them up for interviews and whatnot, but nothing big. The boys are focusing on being the top dogs right now. There's too much in ring to worry about anything happening outside. Maybe someday but right now, no."
"That's true, I'm sure it's hard to focus on anything that doesn't have to do with the match happening at Payback." Alex messed with some papers. "Now the next one is from user BrookeWorm3, they ask how's the most stubborn and why?"
Everyone's eyes turned to Dean who sat there in the middle with his lips pursed. After he realized that everyone was looking at him, he gave a quick look around. "What?"
"You know what." Roman gave him a pat on the back. "This man here is the most stubborn man that I've ever known. When he gets something in his head, it's easier to have the bail money ready then talk him out of it."
"God, it can be like talking to a wall every now and then." Seth sighed.
"So, we're all in agreement that the most stubborn out of all of you is Dean?"
"Yep." Angel giggled.
Dean rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah…"
Alex laughed. "I don't know if it's a good sign that you're not fighting against that ruling."
"What's there to fight about?" Dean asked. "I know how I am. I know better than anyone here. Been dealing with my shit for twenty-eight years."
"We've got another question here; this one is from…SilentMayhem. Hey, haven't we already had a question from them? Yeah we have. Cheeky." Alex laughed. "Well their question is are we ever going to see Angel in the ring."
"In the ring?" Angel cocked her head. "Oh, you mean like as a Diva." She chuckled at the thought. "Nope. I mean, those girls worked hard for years to get where they are. I'm just a manager, they would tear through me."
"Awe, come on Angel. You wouldn't do that bad." Seth told her with a smirk on his face. "You've been getting really good at the punching bag."
"Yeah but that's a stationary object that doesn't fight back." She shook her head. "Me being a Diva is a no go. Though I've always wanted to learn some of the moves."
"Oh?" Dean turned towards her. "If you want to learn something, you know you have three teachers that could help with that."
Angel blushed. "It's not that big of a deal. Don't all fans want to learn their favorite moves."
"What are some of your favorite moves?" Alex asked.
"Oh? Um I've always like DDTs especially Tornado DDTs. Oh and drop kicks."
"Tornado DDTs and drop kicks?" Alex nodded "Well I might know someone who could help you with that." He glanced over at Dean. "So how about it, Dean? You going to teach Angel some moves?"
Dean clicked his tongue. "Oh, I'll teach her some moves."
Everyone laughed before Alex moved on with the interview. Which Seth and Roman were now the main people talking due to the fact that her and Dean were more preoccupied by the little side glances they were giving each other. She had heard the tone in his voice when he said that he was going to teach her some moves. Sure, he might teach her some, but they weren't going to be drop kicks or DDTs.
Skovko: Something is up with Seth huh? God, it's getting so close to that moment and I'm almost dreading it.
Katara Melody Cullen: Thank you as always!
Labinnacslove: Well he didn't take her out on a date but I hope their little moment alone was cute!
Canadice: Here's more, more, more! And i got more coming!
Guest: I'm glad you liked the chapter. Thank you for the question. If you give me a name to put for the user in the story I'll change it.
BrookeWorm3: I'm glad that you liked all this. Galina would have to be a feisty lady too keep up with Roman I would think.
