Alright! Let's hop into a new chapter! Back to back to back to back! Why? Because this idea is just so damn interesting! It'll probably ramp down after a bit, and fall in line with the rest of my fanfics, so don't expect constant updates all the time. But, before we get into the chapter, we have to respond to some reviews/comments. So, let's do it!
(Qoutev) Bubbles: Have another!
(Qoutev) Grimmy: Thank you so much!
Questorimperialis102296: No, it's only Faraway and the areas surrounding Faraway that know next to nothing about Devils. The broader scope of the world is in the know. Devil Hunters as we see them in Chainsaw Man are rare, seeing as this is an AU, and seeing as OMORI takes place somewhere in the 1980s, this is pre-Denji, which should've been slightly obvious.
One more note before we begin the chapter. I'll be using Fanon's last names for the characters. A name cannot be complete without a last name. At least, in my opinion.
Now, with that out of the way, let's get into the chapter!
[Unfortunatly, I died… But I lived!]
Sunny felt his blood run cold.
Why now? Why not later? When he resolved this mess?
Kel… he was standing across the street from him. He had uttered his name and looked like he was on the verge of crying.
"I—" Sunny stopped himself, looking away from Kel. What was he going to say to him? He had no idea what the circumstances were after his death. All he knew is that The Suicide Devil led to him falling off the roof and killing himself. Basil had seen it… Basil might've told everyone what he saw.
And if that was the case….
The two stared at one another for what felt like hours. In truth, it had only been a few minutes, but that wasn't what mattered. What mattered was that Sunny hadn't said anything, and he was starting to feel like an asshole.
"S-Sunny… I-Is that…. Are you…? Am I hallucinating? P-Please! Say something!" Kel all but shouted at him, which made Sunny recoil.
"I—" He clammed up again. He bit on his lower lip till it bled, some of it invading his mouth, the coppery taste making him almost want to vomit.
"Goddamit! Say something! Anything!" Sunny berated himself, balling his right hand into a fist. Where was that bravado he had when he strolled up to his old house? He should've known Kel would come here! He always did!
What was wrong with him?!
"I—I-I'm… uh… Hi?" Sunny finally replied. A tear rolled down Kel's cheek, and the next thing that Sunny knew, Kel had tackled him hard enough to make the air in his lungs violently rush out of him. He felt like he was choking on his tongue. Luckily, he didn't fall on his butt and caught himself standing.
Kel's tears soaked his shirt, which only slightly annoyed him, but that wasn't important. His long-time friend gripped his collar in a vice grip, sobbing like a toddler would if their pet goldfish died. In all of the time he knew Kel, him crying was a rare sight, and an unwelcome one, because it made Sunny feel uncharacteristically upset. The only other time he cried this hard was when Mari died.
Gathering his breath so as to not choke, Sunny awkwardly patted Kel on the back, lowering his head with regret. God, now that he thought about it, Aubrey was going to react to his appearing again, and Hero would too, assuming he hadn't gone back to College.
After another few short seconds passed, Kel awkwardly stumbled back from Sunny, rubbing at his eyes, a big, stupid grin on his face—something Sunny was more accustomed to seeing.
"I… I can't believe it… y-you're ALIVE!" Kel said, before looking away. "But… how? Basil said you… fell from the roof of the hospital. That kind of fall would kill anyone…. And, your mother had a funeral for you and everything…. I saw your body…. Everyone did. She was going to have you cremated at the morgue…. But, she left before it could happen."
"Ah, so that was what happened…." Sunny thought, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I…. It's complicated…." Sunny replied, wiping his lip from the small trail of blood that had been slowly trickling down his chin.
Kel laughed awkwardly, sniffling. He had just gotten done crying, so that was to be expected. "I bet…."
And then, an awkward silence came about. Neither of them said a word to one another. In response to the overbearing silence, Sunny simply… sat down on the sidewalk, legs curled up to his chest as he watched the road. He had no idea why he did that, it was just an impulse he had. He gestured for Kel to sit next to him, which he did.
And then… more silence.
"…"
"…"
"So… uh… what're you going to do now? You know… now that you're alive again… somehow?" Kel broke the silence with a burning question. One that Sunny didn't know how to answer. He kinda hoped that this meeting happened later when he had figured out what he was going to do for himself.
Sunny hummed to himself. He had no idea what to say, let alone how to say it. "I…." He paused briefly, before continuing, forming the sentence as he went. "…am probably going to continue what Mari did…."
Kel raised an eyebrow. "Play the piano?"
Oh. That's right. Only he knew what Mari actually did. Well, Mari did play the Piano, that much was true. But not all the time. She was killing other Devils and playing the Piano. She risked her life day in and day out, and for what? He honestly didn't know.
He was planning on finding out what it was when he went to the town hall. To see if they knew anything.
Sunny shook his head. "No… something else I learned…." Sunny replied, biting his tongue. He couldn't reveal that yet. He was pretty sure that would only make things worse. His eyes followed the street, and toward the basketball on the other side of the street.
And then, he got an idea.
"You… want to play basketball?"
And Kel's eyes lit up like a shining star.
.
.
.
For the next two hours, Sunny and Kel took turns shooting hoops on the local basketball court. Sunny would freely admit that he was horrid at basketball, and the score between him and Kel was a country mile.
Needless to say, Kel was kicking his ass.
But, all that mattered to Sunny was that he was having fun, which, to him, was rare. He even found himself able to crack a small grin when he finally scored on Kel. By the time the two finished their game of Basketball, the score had been: Sunny – 6, Kel – 90.
Yeah, it wasn't even close. And yeah, Sunny was a little annoyed. But he wasn't about to throw a hissy fit over losing a game he had no idea of how to play properly. That, and it wasn't in his nature to do so anyway.
The ball bounced in Kel's hand absently, as the tan-skinned teen wiped the sweat from his forehead. The two sat next to one another, leaning against the wooden fence just surrounding the park. They had finished their basketball game about five minutes ago and were having some downtime to catch their breath. It was quite tiresome, basketball, anyway, but then again sports were usually energy-draining, so he wasn't about to complain. Another bout of silence came over the two, but Kel was quick to break it this time. "That was fun, Sunny. Thanks… but, I still have questions. Like… how the hell are you alive?"
"Well, that took a turn."
Sunny didn't know what to say to that. Frowning, the black-haired teenager tapped his fingers on his leg in a rhythmic pattern, before shrugging. "You don't know? Then… that makes no sense!"
Sunny shrugged again, tilting his head. Kel knew what he was trying to say, he just didn't want to say it.
"Ah… so, what, you just… woke up in the morgue?" Kel asked.
Sunny nodded in response, his frown deepening. The more he thought about it, the less sense it made. Like, if he was already dead at that point, then how could The Grief Devil make a contract with him? Wouldn't that mean that even though Mari was already dead, couldn't another Devil could make a contract with her at that last second?
He was sure that Mari was dead. He hung her body—saw her body at the tree. Of course, she was dead. There was no way that she wasn't dead. He even remembered staring at it for a few hours when it was all said and done.
Sunny's frown deepened further. He could continue down this line of thought if he so chose, but, he decided against it.
"A question for later…."
Kel slicked a hand through his hair. "Damn… that's rough. But hey, at least you're alive, right? That's all that matters." When Kel said that, a bitter feeling rose in his chest. Sunny didn't know why, nor did he really care why. There was some truth to Kel's words. Him being alive right now was all that mattered.
Sunny frowned. No… there was something he was forgetting. Sunny looked up at the streets just beyond the basketball court, and then, he remembered.
"Gotta go to the Townhall. Meet me back here…." Sunny said, getting up from the ground.
"Okay! See you later!" Kel called after him. Sunny knew that Kel probably didn't want him to go, which made sense. But, he needed to resolve this first and foremost. Before anything else happened. Before he ran into Aubrey, or Basil again. He had to make sure the Townhall knew he was alive.
And so, off he went….
[3rd person POV (Kel)]
Kel… didn't know how to process any of this. Like, at all. Sunny died. He went to the funeral and everything. He saw his body. It looked so… peaceful. Like he regretted nothing. As if he didn't think dying would upset anyone.
That… was a lie. A big, fat, stupid, lie.
Basil was…. To say he was devastated was beyond an understatement. Faraway's resident photographer and plant lover had a straight-up panic attack when he told them about what happened.
Hero…. Hero was… he tried to be calm. He tried to be. But when they got back home after the funeral, he could've sworn that he could hear him throw something in his room. Something shattered. He didn't know what it was. But the next day, Hero just… left back for college. He didn't say a thing to anyone, not even to him.
He just… left.
And Aubrey…. Oh god. Her response to everything was to just get angry, and more violent. Her way of grieving was… troublesome, and if her reputation in the town was bad already, it got worse in a matter of days.
Way worse.
Like, breaking windshields on cars level of worse. She hadn't actively hurt someone with her bat… yet. She had done the same posturing and attempted convincing that she would.
At least they stayed in contact… she didn't cut herself off from everyone else…. But… she didn't talk all that much. She just… stayed silent., angrily stared off into the distance, spinning her bat. He offered to play basketball, but… she refused. The last time he saw Aubrey was when she was being hauled away to the local police station for a misdemeanour, breaking private property, and a 24-hour long stay in a prison cell for her behaviour.
Luckily, the person in question didn't press charges, but that was because he "knew her situation and why she was acting out, so he didn't fault her for it." Kel didn't know what that meant, but what he did know was that Aubrey's home life was rough, and seeing as the guy was a neighbour of hers, he might've known a lot more about what was going on.
Still, it didn't give her the right to do that. But… at the same time, she was just letting her anger out. Even if it was in an unhealthy way.
Funnily enough, Sunny's mom just… wasn't there. She didn't show up to the funeral, she didn't even say anything to any of them. She just… left. Kinda like how Hero did. Except, Kel could've sworn that she seemed…. Happier? No. That wasn't right. Sunny's mom was nice, as far as he knew, and cared about Sunny. Even after Mari's death.
Yeah, he had probably just been seeing things.
As for himself, he kinda just… kept himself busy. If he was constantly busy, that meant he wouldn't have to think about it. And if he didn't think about it, it was like it never happened. He kept his routine of going to Sunny's house and talking to the front door—just like he used to. Every time he did, though, it just made him feel worse.
Like, the more he did it, the more he felt a pit in his heart grow. Like something was missing.
Well, of course, something had been missing. Sunny was gone! He was dead! Duh!
But… then today happened, and his entire view of the world shattered. He went to continue his routine, and who did he see standing at Sunny's old house but the man himself! Which should've been impossible, because, you know, he was dead!
But.. there he was. As impossible as it sounded, seemed, and should've been, Sunny was alive. According to him, he just… woke up in the morgue. Maybe he… didn't actually die? Maybe he just… slipped into a coma and everyone assumed the worst had happened?
Still… he still threw himself off that building. He tried to kill himself. He tried and failed to commit suicide. He wanted to die, at least, at the time. He hoped that wasn't the case now, but still… the fact that he thought of doing that at all was bad enough as is.
Kel shook his head, reclining back into the wooden fence around the park, which was where the basketball court had been. A part of him wondered where Sunny was going, and why he had to wait here. Maybe he just went back to his place to get something? No… that couldn't be right. His mother took everything from there, even his clothing.
So… then where was he going?
"Probably the Faraway Townhall, dummy. He's gotta prove that he's still alive, after all. So he can get his citizenship back. What else could he be doing?" Kel thought, frowning to himself as he played with the dirt.
Another thought popped into his head. It was something that happened yesterday, and, while it seemed completely unbelievable, the evidence was there to prove that it wasn't just something that someone saw and reported to the news. In fact, the news stations took it seriously. Way too seriously.
According to eye-witnesses, a giant black, goo-like creature with several different eyes and mouths, and was nearly 8 feet tall, exploded out of Basil's house and attacked a kid matching Sunny's description. The eye-witness who reported what happened said that the kid had slit his wrist and that their hands, arms, and head exploded into a mess of barbed chains, hooked claws, shark-like teeth, and red glowing eyes with a very unnatural-looking jaw, like, comparing to burnt flesh moulded into a neck and jaws.
It seemed something straight out of a comic book and sounded so outlandish that it seemed like the guy must've been on a drug trip.
But, the scary thing was that people could back it up, even some of those hooligan guy's parents could back it up! And they seemed like normal people, so for that to be the case, it made no sense!
He'd have to confirm it with Sunny, of course, because he wasn't just going to believe what a newspaper said—even if it was super cool if it were true—because that would also mean that Basil was hurt, and he didn't want that. Not one bit.
Basil was in the hospital, last he heard. It was probably because of what happened at his house. Maybe he should go pay him a visit?
Sunny wouldn't mind, right?
"Yeah, he won't mind! Besides, what's the worst that could happen?"
But as he left, he could've sworn that he felt like someone… or something… was watching him leave. And then, in a split second, pain surged through his body, and as he looked to see what was causing him pain, his eyes widened.
And then, Kel screamed.
[3rd Person POV (Sunny)]
When he met The Mayor of Faraway, he expected that he was going to be a tough cookie to talk to. After all, being The Mayor of a town was quite the taxing job—managing funds for the town, constant calls with those in higher offices, managing the police funds, basically, a bunch of managing.
That kind of constant work schedule would drive anyone to have a tough exterior, and maybe make them colder than most. But, to his surprise, The Mayor of Faraway was a good-hearted man, but also someone quick to scare, as he learned by him showing up to his office. The Mayor truly thought he was a ghost who came to haunt him… for some reason.
Honestly, the Mayor was a silly individual. But, at least he was able to get down to business relatively fast. He was given back his identification, was made to sign some papers, and was given a compensation reward of 50K. Which was enough to buy back his house, he noted. Something he had decided he'd do once he met back up with Kel.
Oh, and he had a bank account opened for him right away. Where else was he supposed to put the 50k he had just gotten from being compensated?
He was going to leave at that point, but then… the Mayor offered him something. A Job, to be specific. And the conversation went something like this:
"Sunny… I want you to be honest. How did you come back to life? There is no way for someone to just… come back to life. And… I think I know why. So, if you could tell me the truth, then that would be… comforting. You could decline to answer, of course, but…. I think it would benefit the both of us more than anything."
Sunny paused, thinking over his options. He could turn around and not answer. But… then he remembered what he had said to Kel. That he was going to continue what Mari did. Kel didn't understand—of course, why would he understand? Kel didn't know about the Devils, at least, he wasn't sure if he knew or not. But, if he did, then that would make explaining things to him, and everyone else, far easier.
Sighing, Sunny knew that he needed to tell the truth about how he was alive again. Besides, it was easier than telling THE TRUTH to everyone. And so….
"I made a contract with The Grief Devil. She… it? I… don't know. Don't care, either. She brought me back to life, on the condition that I kill all the Devils in Faraway, and the area's surrounding it." When Sunny finished, he expected the Mayor to laugh at him and call him crazy. But… instead, he had a deadly serious expression on his face.
"Is that so…. You… made a Contract with… Herold Devil? Interesting… perhaps I was right, that must mean that it takes a specific liking to your family, Sunny. Either that, or it was interested in you. Bah, whatever. Tell me, are you spiritually contracted, or mentally? And, where is it now?" The Mayor asked.
This had… taken a different turn. He had thought that he'd be laughed out, but, at least this was better than what he had expected. Still. The Mayor knew about Devils… how many people in Faraway knew about them? Was it just the Mayor, or was it the police too?
"Whatever… I'll asked later…."
"We are physically bonded. She… or it… is my brain stem now," Sunny replied, making The Mayor go wide-eyed.
"You… you're physically contracted?! I… that…. You made a Hybrid Contract with it?! You… that's actually really smart…. Mari did the same thing with The Grief Devil. You must be really strong then," The Mayor said, cupping his chin. "Tell me, Sunny. How would you like to become a Private Devil Hunter for Faraway? We'll pay you handsomely for every Devil we contract you to kill, and, you'll get the benefits of free living within the town, meaning that if you buy your house back, you won't have to make a single payment on it. We'll also cover all costs and expenses for living, like food, water, and vehicles. That, and, so long as you flash your badge at the police, they'll ignore anything you do, so long as it isn't heinous, of course. So… how's about it?"
Sunny didn't even think about it. He just nodded. That was his contract with The Grief Devil, and besides, getting paid to do it was nice, too. Plus the other bonuses, as well. It was like a dream come true!
"Great!" The Mayor said, smiling. He quickly pulled out a sheet of paper, and gave him a pen. "Make sure to read it carefully. When you're done, sign here," The Mayor said, as Sunny read the piece of paper. It basically just said that The Mayor held no responsibility should he turn up dead, that he would kill any Devil or Fiend, that The Mayor requested him to kill, and that he was given any amount of time to do it.
Seeing as there were no issues, and seeing as the fine print didn't hide anything shady, he signed it. The Mayor smiled, took the document, and passed him a badge. On the front of the badge it read: Devil Hunter of Faraway. In the center was the Town's Crest, and it was made out of a golden yellow material—not real gold because that would've made it too heavy.
Taking the badge, he pinned it to his shirt, as the Mayor cleared his throat. "Now. I know this is sudden, but, we're going to be putting you to work right away. From what I know, you were the one to have taken down The Suicide Devil, correct?"
Sunny nodded.
"Good. Now, since you didn't do it with us, we can't reward you. So, take this as our saying "let's try that again," alright?" As the Mayor said that, he pulled out another document. "The Devil that we want you to take down, due to it becoming more hostile as of late, is…."
"The Shadow Devil…." Sunny murmured, hands in his pockets as he walked along the sidewalk. He guessed that Devils came in all shapes and sizes, and some people were afraid of Shadows, so it's possible that a Devil like that can exist.
"Do you know anything about The Shadow Devil, Grief?" Sunny asked his contractor. He didn't get an answer, so that was probably a no. Either that or Grief didn't feel like answering. Either way, it wasn't as if he needed the information. He was more curious than anything else. Curiosity had always been something that made Sunny do stupid things, so it wasn't exactly uncommon for him to ask questions that made no sense.
When he got back to the Basketball court, Kel wasn't there. "Oh…." Sunny muttered, looking around the area. Maybe he went home? Or, maybe he went to go do something else? But, that wasn't right. Because if he left in earnest, then why would he leave his basketball? Maybe he just stopped by his house for a split second to—
A rustling in the bushes alerted him to glance over to his left, as his eyes widened to the size of saucers. A familiar-looking arm was being dragged into the bushes, with a small smear of red following close behind.
Sunny knew exactly what happened. And he wasn't about to just stand around and do nothing!
Jumping almost immediately into action, Sunny sprinted for the direction in which the arm had been dragged in and pushed through the foliage. He felt the heft of his knife in his pocket—thank god he didn't forget it at Ms. Polly's—and when he made it past the brush, he saw what looked like a wolf-like creature made entirely out of black sinew, a singular glowing yellow eye in the center of its forehead, with two large tails wagging back and forth, biting at Kel's unconscious body.
His chest was moving…. He was still alive.
But his right arm was mauled badly.
Not good.
Sunny snarled, reaching for his knife. The noise caught what he assumed to be The Shadow Devil's attention, as it turned to him and reared its hind legs, getting into a pouncing position. When it did, it spoke in a gravelly, almost distorted voice.
"What's this? A human? And here I thought that I had been careful with my prey…." The Devil snarked, bearing its teeth, as its body began to grow larger, nearing 10 feet tall, almost eclipsing the second largest tree in the brush. "Fear me, Human, for I am The Wolf Devil!" "Wolf Devil?" "Once I'm done with you, I will finish my meal!"
And then, the Wolf Devil leapt forward.
Sunny brandished his knife…. And slit his wrist.
It might not've been the devil he was after…. But he'd be damned if his friend was going to be made into a snack for some oversized dog!
The transformation was instant, and when The Wolf Devil saw him transform, rather than it stopping, it howled. "A DEVIL! AH! SO YOU'VE COME TO STEAL MY PREY FROM ME! I WON'T LET YOU HAVE IT!" The Wolf Devil said, landing after its pounce, Sunny just barely dodging out of the way as the ground and trees shook in response to its landing.
It opened its mouth, as its teeth perked forward, like missiles, and began to shoot out of its jaws in rapid succession. Sunny leapt out of the way, shaking his newly clawed hand down toward the ground, as a chain separated itself from the conglomerate of the chains that made up his right hand.
Not saying a word, he slung his arm back, the chain slithering down and becoming longer and longer as he did so. On instinct, he jumped back from a swipe of The Wolf Devil's paw, as The Wolf Devil's maw began to refill with its teeth, readying to fire off more teeth missiles as it spoke once more.
"SAY SOMETHING, TRESPASSER! THIS PARK IS MY TERRITORY! YOU—"
"Shut up."
When Sunny said that, interrupting The Wolf Devil, he slung the now 10-meter chain around The Wolf Devil's neck—like a lasso—and once the hook end of the chain dug into its skin, The Wolf Devil howled in fury. That didn't stop Sunny from yanking the chain, tearing a massive chunk out of The Wolf Devil's neck, purple blood spewing everywhere like a fountain.
In a rage, The Wolf Devil swatted Sunny like a fly, smacking him into a tree. The impact hit his right arm directly, and the strength of the swat was powerful enough to wrench his lower arm off of his elbow. The pain of the action made Sunny scream in pain, scarlet red spewing from his newly acquired wound, the red substance decorating the grassy ground as he flew through the air. When he hit a tree, he felt his back break, as he hit the ground with a pathetic thud.
He looked at his arm and shivered. There was nothing but his elbow, upper arm, and shoulder left there. Great, how was he supposed to explain that?! When he looked at what was in front of him, he felt dread. It was Kel. How he had ended up in front of his unconscious friend, he had no idea, but he assumed that The Wolf Devil didn't plan for him to be next to his friend.
His wounded arm was bleeding pretty badly. It was a wonder how he was alive still. He felt tears well up in his eyes, seeing his friend in pain like this. He felt weak, the pain not helping things in the slightest. He felt like he was going to die. He wasn't cut out for this! What the hell was he—
"Drink his blood. It'll heal you."
"Huh?"
"Put your mouth on his wound, and suck the blood. Ya know, like one of those vampires from the vampire movies? Blood heals your wounds, and allows you to stay in your hybrid form for longer. Without it, you're useless. Do it, now!"
Sunny flinched at those words, and while he so didn't want to do it, he had no choice, did he? Grabbing Kel's arm, he looked over at the boy. He wasn't responding, but he was still breathing. He must've been so scared that when he was jumped by The Wolf Devil, which wasn't his intended target, mind you, he must've passed out.
He looked up at The Wolf Devil, who was fretting over its wound, distracted. Good. Sunny, looked down at Kel's arm, opened his now monstrous jaw, and bit down into Kel's arm. That got Kel to wake up, screaming as Sunny pulled his jaws back, Kel's blood glistening on his tongue and teeth, as he leapt up. His back felt better, meaning his spine was fixed, and his arm grew back instantly.
The Wolf Devil looked over at Sunny and snarled. "LEAVE MY PREY ALONE!"
The Wolf Devil spun around, whipping its tail toward Sunny. Sunny jumped upward, dodging the tail, before landing on The Wolf Devil's back, sinking his claws into The Wolf Devil's neck. It roared again, trying to get Sunny off of him. It did not work, as the more it moved, the more clawed up its neck was going to get.
Sunny ripped out chunk of flesh after chunk of flesh with careless abandon, purplish blood spewing all over the place as Sunny roared in anger and rage, his red glowing eyes lighting up the slightly darkened mini-forest surrounding the park. The Wolf Devil was able to finally shake him off, but not before Sunny had planted one of his chains in The Wolf Devil's neck, or what remained of it, and with a sharp tug, a cracking sound echoed throughout the forest, as Sunny landed on the ground on his feet, whereas The Wolf Devil landed on its side, its head positioned in such an impossible way, that it was most certainly dead.
When the deed was done, Sunny turned back to normal. His eyes wandered over to Kel, who stared at him as if he were some sort of monster. Which, to be fair, he just saw him as one. Sunny slowly approached Kel, hands up in a placating gesture, trying to slowly ease the teen into calming down.
"Kel, I—"
Sunny didn't get to finish what he was saying, as Kel simply scooted away from him further and further away until he hit a tree. "S-Stay away! Y-You're not Sunny! Y-You're not—!"
That fear quickly turned to pain, as he gripped his wounded arm like it was a lifeline. Sunny rushed over to him and fished around in Kel's pockets. Before Kel could ask what he was doing, or try and get away from him, he pulled out a flip phone and dialled 911. Kel still tried to run away from him, but Sunny didn't let him, using his now superhuman strength to keep him in place, as he spoke to the lady on the other end of the line, and proceeded to tell her everything.
It didn't take long for paramedics and police to arrive. The paramedics took Kel with them, as the police stayed with Sunny.
"I'll be damned…." One of the police officers said, looking at Sunny. "You're alive…. And, if I had to guess, you killed this big bastard?" The Police officer said, gesturing toward The Wolf Devil's corpse, which had shrunken back down to its original size, that of a wolf.
Sunny only nodded. The police officer looked at his badge, his eyes widening. "You're a Devil Hunter? Well… I guess once one fruit falls, another one isn't too far…." As the officer said that, he crossed his arms. "Though, now we're going to have to close down the park for a bit…. It's unfortunate, but it's what's gotta happen. This clean up will take days…. Why don't you go home, kiddo? Thanks for the service."
On that note, Sunny left. Kel was probably going to have a lot of questions for him once he calmed down. So, he decided that he was going to give him those answers… probably tomorrow. He was tired and seeing as he still hadn't bought his house back yet, he might as well go back to Ms. Polly's to rest….
"No… I did say I was going to visit Basil in the Hospital…"
So, with his mind made up, he decided to go see Basil. Hopefully, his friend was alright... And hopefully, he could have more than a day's worth of downtime before he encountered yet another Devil.
-To Be Continued-
