Welcome to Chapter Eighty Nine. This one took a bit of time to write. I hope you like it!
Monday Night Raw: June 13, 2014
It was only the start of the show and Angel was already exhausted. She had just spent a long time trying to convince Hank that he should pull strings and get them a in ring promo. Which was easier said then done since Hank still worked for the Authority and as much as he was a good guy and the closest thing that they had to a man on the inside, he had to do his job. And yet somehow, she did it.
She wasn't quiet sure which of her arguments made him say yes, but she couldn't help the huge that filled her face when she heard him call over to the crew members to add an in-ring promo at the start of the show for the Shield.
She also couldn't help but feel proud of herself as she made her way back to the boys to tell them the news. This was just what they needed, a moment to prove to Hunter and Seth that they played by own rules; that Dean and Roman were always going to be friends, teammate, no matter what.
However as much as they needed to prove all that to the Authority, the boys and she needed it too. With everything that happened, they all needed to see that they weren't beaten, needed to be able to parade around and showboat like used to.
Which was why they found themselves where Angel almost thought she wouldn't see like this again, the top entrance. They were standing there waiting for the show to start, while fans screamed and yelled at them, trying to get their attention.
Adjusting her vest, Angel looked over at Dean and Roman who were hyping each other up for the promo. She could see that even as they patted each other on the back there was something in their eyes; something that hid behind the arrogance and intensity. Sadness.
Just as she was about to reach out and grab each of their arms, the Shield's theme song echoed through the speakers all around the arena.
"Fucker." Dean growled as they lined up.
Angel peaked up at him. "What?"
"Seth." He pointed to the speaker. "Just the sound of his voice pisses me off."
Cocking her head, she tried to figure out what he meant. Only to remember that the boys had recorded the beginning part of their theme. Each one of them took their turn to say part of the phonetic alphabet spelling of Shield, which meant the first thing heard before they made their way down to the ring was Seth's voice saying Sierra.
That's gotta go. She made a metal note as they stepped out into the crowd. Their descent was slow this time; set by Dean's leisurely movements. Even when he stopped and helped her over the barricade, he moved slowly. She wondered if it was because there was no reason to hurry or if it was something else.
Jumping over the barricade, Dean put his arm around Angel's shoulder and pulled her into his chest, making her stumble. She looked up at him to see Dean looking around the arena.
"Let's get this over with." He sighed as he pulled her towards the steel steps, pausing only to grab the mic that was so nicely laid out for them.
From in the ring, she could hear the crowd cheering louder, could see the signs that were all around the arena and a small smile appeared on her face as she read one that said, 'the Shield is forever'.
"I don't need to tell you, what you already know. So, I don't need to tell you what the Authority is trying to do; it's as clear as day." Dean said into the mic making her jump slightly. Giving her a side eye, he continued. "Triple H, you think you hold all the cards? You think you stacked the deck against us?" He leaned in towards the camera, which made her half to bend forward as well. "Well listen up kiddo. We're not going to wait for you to deal, we're going to flip the table right over and we're coming for your throat."
He tapped his finger against the mic making the noise ring out into the arena. "As for puppet suit Seth Rollins, my ah…Well I guess he's not my brother." Dean glanced back at Roman. "My former business partners. I'm shutting down the Seth Rollins business for good."
Angel gave a smirk as the crowd started to cheer Dean's words.
"And I know that look." He looked down at her. "Someone likes the sounds of that?" He gave a chuckle making her blush slightly while she nodded.
"Oh," He gestured back at Roman. "I feel you may have a message for another spineless corporate stooge. So why don't you give it to him." Dean passed the mic off to Roman.
With his arm still wrapped around her, Dean pulled the two of them out of the middle of the ring so that Roman was able to have his moment.
"I hope you enjoying your night off, Randy. Because when I get my hand on you, you're going to want a permanent vacation. And like I said Monday night on Raw, you think you're the face of WWE, but you're not the face you're the ass." Roman paused. "And you're also just a spoiled little kid who gets what ever he wants from his daddy, Triple H. You didn't even qualify for the Championship ladder match; you were just given the opportunity like everything else. But guess what, everybody wants to be WWE Champion. But who knows maybe Dean, or I will just beat you to it."
"Wow, wow guys. That…" Hunters voice rang over the arena making everyone look at the titiantron. Which showed Hunters standing there in the Authority's office with a smirk on his face. "That really sounds good, but unfortunately there are only so many slots available to qualify for the WWE World Heavy Weight Championship ladder match."
"I only really have one qualifying spot available and there are two of you. It seems really unfair. Right Angel? I would want you to have to decide between your boyfriend and your friend. That's just rude. I mean, I'm sure it would a hard decision to make for you."
Angel rolled her eyes knowing what he was trying to do. He was trying to say that she would pick Dean no matter what since he's her boyfriend. That's where your wrong. I would let the boys pick.
"There's only one real fair way to pick." Hunter held up a coin. "Your brothers I would want to do this any other way, so here we go." He flipped the coin, not even really looking at it a huge smile appeared on Hunter's face. "Dean Ambrose! Congratulations Dean Ambrose, you get the opportunity to qualify tonight."
She looked back to see Dean and Roman looking at each other. "Something up." Dean mumbled under his breath.
Angel nodded her head, she agreed there was no way he would put Dean in a qualifying match just like that.
"I say congratulation kinda loosely." Ah here it was. "Because you're going to go up against, Bray Wyatt."
"Bray?" She sighed. Did it really have to be Bray?
"You got this man." Roman patted him on the chest.
"And Roman, I know how you guys like to do things together. So Imma ban ya from ring side and I'm going to ban the rest of the Wyatts from ring side as well."
One on one with Bray?
"Though I will be nice and let you have your little girlfriend out there with you, to cheer you on." He smirked. "That being said, Dean you and Angel might want to pick up your things and leave the ring right now, because you two are banned from ring side for Roman Reigns's match which is next. Because Roman…." He leaned forward. "I've got some bad news for ya." Hunter said in a bad impression of BNB.
Angel gritted her teeth as she watched the man come out onto the stage. What was the point of a manager? Really. Did all the others have to suffer the same way?
"Wipe the floor with the British asshole." Dean called over the booming theme.
Roman gave a nod as he eyed up his opponent. "I'll give him a good punch to the head for ya."
Before another word could be said, the ref slid under the ropes and quickly made his way up to them. "Dean, Angel I need both of you out of the ring and backstage now."
Angel nodded at the man before turning towards Dean. "We gotta go." She pulled on his arm. "Go get him, Roman!" She called as they made their way out of the ring.
After getting out of the ring, she gave one more look up to Roman and noted his intense look that was present on his face.
Realizing that Roman had this in the bag, Angel went to start towards the ramp only to be stopped by a hand on her shoulder. "Hold on." Dean said as Bad News Bad News Barrett stepped up to the steel steps. The two of them locked eyes for only a second before Barrett seemed to shake his head and get into the ring. Only once the man's attentions were completely locked onto Roman did Dean let his hand drop from her.
Taking a deep breath, the two up them made way up the ramp.
As soon as they got behind the curtain they two of them stopped at the first TV screen they could find.
"God fucking damn it." Dean mumbled as the match started. "Hunter fucking flaunting his god damn power."
Even as Dean cursed out Hunter and Seth, Angel tried her hardest to watch the match on the screen in front of her. What she saw it was a good one. Roman was showing BNB what for but her mind kept drifting back to the two men on commentary. Michael Cole and JBL were going on and on about what Seth had done and what Dean and Roman were going to do now that they were in singles competition.
Her mind instantly went back to her conversation with Galina. What is next for the Shield. Casting a look at Dean, she watched the man who was shadow boxing around like he was the one in the ring.
She didn't know what was next for them. That was up to Roman and Dean, but what she did know was they needed to do chance some things to get Seth's image out of the Shield.
"Dean, I was thinking."
He mumbled a response, not taking his eyes off the screen.
"I think we should change the Shield's theme song."
That got him to glance down at him with wide eyes. "Change it?"
"At least enough to take out the beginning. You know, to get rid of Seth's part."
The gears in Dean's head started to turn, before he gave a small nod. "Yeah, maybe…" He trailed off as if there was more to what he was trying to say.
However, she knew he wasn't going to finish the thought as Barrett kicked Roman right in the face, almost knocking him off the apron. Roman was only just able to hang on with one hand gripping the ropes.
She gave a hiss.
Just with one more the match was quickly turned around, and now it was Barrett was in control as he hit Roman with a neck breaker.
"Come on!" She cheered to the TV as Roman fought out of the headlock that Barrett instantly put him in.
Fighting Roman back, BNB took the moment to egg on the crowd. A mistake because the moment gave Roman enough to scoop him up and drop him with a Samoan Drop.
"There he is." Dean smirked as Roman got fired up. Hit after hit, the man seemed unstoppable. A huge right hook to the face, dropped Barrett down onto the ropes; which only lined him up for a Drive By kick to the head.
Not wasting a moment after hitting the move, Roman rolled into the ring and raised his fist high in the air. The crowd went nuts for him as he cocked and loaded his fist like always before dropping down, readying for a Superman Punch.
The punch connected and everyone even JBL and Michael Cole went wild.
It's all over. Angel smirked at herself as Roman got back into the corner of the ring, this time revving up for a Spear.
However the hit never came. Instead the camera zoomed in on Roman's face as his eyes were suddenly taken off of BNB. Angel cocked her head as she tried to figure out why Roman was looking towards the ramp.
She didn't have wonder long as the camera cut over to show 3MB coming down the ramp.
"What the fuck?" Dean questioned as he looked around.
"How did they get past us?"
"Hell, if I know." Dean growled as he turned towards the stage. "But they're going to regret doing it."
Dean twisted around quickly, trying to go and help Roman only to be stopped by a wall of security.
"Get the fuck out of my way."
"You're banned from ring side." One of them said.
"I said get out of my way."
"Can't do that."
Dean puffed his chest out. "And you're going to stop me?"
"Come on this isn't about the match anymore." Angel said just as the bell rang to end the match.
"You're banned from ring side."
"Fuck that, let me out or you're going to be banned from the Earth." Dean warned.
Keeping an eye on Dean, Ashley glanced at the TV to see Roman being overwhelmed by 3MB. "Dean!"
Dean looked over his shoulder and his eyes widened before turning dark and turning towards the men in front of her. "Fuck it." He pounded his fist against his own palm.
Just as Dean was about to throw a punch, a loud cheer echoed from the screen as Roman pushed all three members of 3MB away from him. Awe hit her a she watched Roman take control of the three on one situation. He threw each man out of the ring, before following them out and giving each a Spear.
Relief rushed her as she turned towards Dean. The man was stopped mid movement, his eyes locked on the screen as well. Nodding, Dean dropped his arm and stepped away from the men in front of him.
After a bit of boasting in the ring, Roman calmly made his way up the ramp and met the two of them just outside the gorilla.
"The Authority has a lot of muscle on the sidelines tonight." Roman said as he took the bottle of water that Angel was holding out for him.
Angel nodded as she heard Dean mumble something about it being for him. Even though she knew the man was right, she couldn't help but roll her eyes at him before giving Roman a once over. "You alright?"
"I'm good, Babygirl." He smirked. "Can't keep me down, like that. 3MB, what the hell were they thinking?"
"I hope you gave them a good hit for me as well." Dean grumbled. "I would have been down there helping ya but that the Authority's wall of flesh was hell bent from keeping me away."
Roman turned towards him and gave him a pat on the shoulder. "I knew you had my back."
"Always."
Angel smiled as they started down through the chaos of the backstage.
"So, a qualification match against Bray, huh?"
Dean gave his neck a crack. "Yeah." He seemed to have a strange reserve in his normally arrogant voice.
"You nervous?"
"Nah. I'm just...I don't know. I'm glad to get this chance but at the same time it's not what I want."
No one needed to ask him what he meant; everyone already knew that he wanted an opportunity to get his hands on Seth.
"I know." Roman said in a low tone. "You will, we will both get our chance."
D.D.D.
Dean gave his neck a pop as he shimmied around the small area that they had claimed. He hummed to himself and bounced back and forth on his feet, trying to warm himself up for his match.
Throwing a few punches into the air, he glanced down at his hands and decided to redo his tape. However, when he opened his gym bag and reached down for the roll of black tape, his eyes caught something that made his heart fall.
His old vest, the one he wore then the Shield started and the one that was now being used as a spare vest for Angel. He almost questioned why it was in his bag, that was until he remembered that Seth had insisted that he was the one to carry it around. Which made too much sense at the time since he was the one normally with her.
Though now as he stared at the thing all it was, was a harsh reminder. As his eyes skimmed over the patch that sat over the left peck, his mind went back almost two years. He remembered all the fights, all the promos, the long car rides, the late nights, even the moments when they each won their titles. He had never been prouder then when his brothers-in-arms won the tag tiles.
He looked at the three wolves on the patch and didn't know if anger or sadness as thought back to the when the logo was first shown to them.
"It looks good." Seth smirked as they all stood in front of the blown-up picture of their logo.
"Yeah it does." Roman agreed. "Can't wait to see it on our gear and merch."
Dean ran his eyes on the thing and felt a tear come to his eye. This was the first time since he left the indies that he felt part of something big. He felt excited for the future. Clearing his throat, he let out a hardy laugh.
"They got each of down pat." He joked.
"What?" Seth questioned.
"Don't you see it." He raised a brow at the man. "You, me, and Roman." He pointed to each of the wolves on the logo.
"Dean, their all the same." Roman told him.
"Nah."
"They are."
"They have very subtle differences if you look close enough, you can see it." Dean said stepping up real close to the picture. "This one looks like it's thinking, so that's you." He looked at Seth. "This one is brooding, which mean it's has to be the big guy and this one," He pointed to the last one. "this one is just slightly more handsome."
Both men behind him laughed.
"Oh yeah I see it." Seth nodded. "You're right. I see what you mean. Though I don't think this one is more handsome. Nah, I see a very unstable look in his eyes."
"Even better."
Gritting his teeth, he reached in and snatched the thing out of the bag. He had been wrong before. They were all the same, copy and pasted from a design that meant nothing. There weren't any small differences.
And now it wasn't even three wolves. Nope just two broken mutts and their Little Red Riding Hood of a manager.
"Dean?" He felt a soft hand on his arm. Glancing over, he saw the worry that was plastered on Angel's face as she watched him.
"Something wrong?" He asked as he threw the vest down as he prayed that his voice didn't give away his emotions.
Angel shook her head as she ran her thumb over his skin. "You tell me."
He absentmindedly placed a hand over hers. "Just lost in my head."
"I can tell." She said softly.
He both loved and hated how easily her softness made him relax and let down his guard. "I used to feel pride when I saw this." He said looking back down at the patch again. "But now…"
"It's hard to look at it?"
He nodded. "It pisses me off that he could ruin the thing that we worked so hard to make. That he made it that I want nothing to do with…this." He gestured at the vest. "I don't want anything to do with him…anything that reminds me of him."
He heard the small smile that came from Angel as he leaned against his arm. "Maybe it's time to let go."
"Let go?"
"Of the Shield."
Dean froze, but the same time his mind seemed lock on the idea. "I don't…"
Give up the Shield? How could I possibly do that?
"Dean don't get me wrong; I'm not talking about right this second nor am I'm talking about forever." Angel said breaking him of his thoughts. "But think about it. The Shield is and will always be, you, Roman and Seth. However, Seth…." She searched for the word she wanted to use. "Seth left, which leaves a gap in the Shield. A gap that is evidently hurting you." She grasped him tighter. "You and Roman can still be brothers, but maybe it's time to hang up the vest. Put it away. At least for a little while."
Dean glanced back down at the vest. Maybe she was right. No, he knew she was right. But could he truly do it? Could leave the Shield behind him?
"What would I do?" The question pushed from him without thought.
Angel turned herself and squeezed herself between him and the road case his bag was on. "I don't know." She gave him a small smile. "But we will figure it out together."
As she filled his vision, his hands went to her hips and he looked into her hazel eyes. "You don't seem to surprise by all this."
"Galina and I talked about something like this happening."
"Oh?" He raised a brow at her.
She nodded. "We're worried about what the next step of the Shield would be. You two were hurt by someone who used to be part of something important to you. Why would someone want to be apart of the same group if it hurt?"
She yet again surprised him, thinking about something that he had not even realized until now.
Giving a small smirk, he gripped her hips tighter and pulled her into him. Angel let out a small noise as her hands fluttered to his chest.
"Hey love birds!" Roman called. "Come on, I'm hungry, are you going to make me eat alone."
Angel laughed as she leaned around Dean. "Be right there."
"Hurry up! There's no time for the two of you to have sex and eat before Dean's match."
"Roman!" Dean growled as Angel's face went red. Reaching around her, he grabbed his tape out of his bag and threw it at the big lug head, who caught it, laughing.
As Roman walked away, Dean turned back to Angel who was trying to stifle a giggle. Smirking at the look on her face, he bent down and looked he in the eyes. "Want to prove him wrong."
"Dean!" She yelled as he ran a hand up her back.
A.A.A
A shiver went down her back and not in the good, Dean's finger is running up her body or whisper into her ear type of way. No, it was more like the creepy crawly feeling you get when a bug walks over your arm or leg. And it was all because of the Wyatt's theme that started to ring loudly.
Bray was normally creepy and could normally send chills up her back, but after the promo that Bray had earlier today, his creepy level was at an all time high. He said that Dean was in his way and that those who stand in his way will suffer…
Dean must have noticed that her body grew tense because he pulled her close and rested his chin on her head. He didn't say anything as he waited for his turn, but he did try to calm her down.
"Dean watch your stitches." She warned him as she tried to pull away.
"Don't worry about it." He said as the Shield's theme song started.
Almost in an instant Dean let her go, glaring at the speaker above him like it was its fault that Seth's voice had just played before walking through the doorway and into the crowd.
Dean lead her out onto the steps, pushing past the wall of hands that greeted them. They cheered and screamed out the two of their names as they passed.
The hands seemed to be worse tonight. She didn't know if it was the crowd or the fact that it was only the two of them coming down the steps, it could even be that they were prepared for this since they had already done it once, but those hands were everywhere.
Almost at the bottom of the steps, a very glittery sign caught Angel's attention. Standing on the edge of the steps was a woman in a shirt that read, Explicit Ambrose Violence shirt; her sign read in big bold letters 'I Want To Do Dirty Deeds with Dean Ambrose'.
Angel raised a brow at the sign and gave a half smile at the lady, only to receive a small almost seeming playful glare. Which made her unsure if she meant it or not.
Realizing that she was left behind, Angel quickly rushed after Dean who had already reached the barricade once she made it to him. Using the chair that sat there waiting for them, Dean stepped up, so that one foot was on the barricade while the other was still on said chair.
Pausing behind the man, she waited to see what he was going to do. With his free hand, he reached up and pointed at the two titles that hung above the ring.
"You got this!" She called stepping up beside him. "Those are going to be yours."
"Damn straight."
Dean hopped over the barricade and stepped one step away, giving her just another space to jump down behind him. Keeping his eyes locked on Bray, he escorted her over to the commentary table where Michael Cole and JBL were already talking about her joining them.
Before she could sit down in the free chair, Dean grabbed her arm and looked at her right in the eyes. "Be good."
Giving him a sheepish grin, she said. "I'll try."
With that Dean pulled away and made his way towards the ring.
"Hello Angel." Michael said handing her the headset.
"Hi there, Michael, JBL." She said as she put on the dreaded thing. In a rush voices from backstage as well as both men beside her hit her like a truck.
The music died down while Michael talked about the match that they were fighting for.
Focus, Dean. She sighed as she watched the mind games already start to begin as soon as the bell rang. Though the two men just circled each other, until Bray reached out and slapped Dean.
Dean snapped and started to hit Bray with rabid hits every which way.
"Great opportunity to Dean Ambrose to stick it to Triple H. To prove to Triple H that he can do it in one on one situations." Michael Cole said.
"Oh course he can." Angel found herself adding. "He's a great fighter, he's got more guts than anyone I've ever meet." She cringed as Bray hit Dean with a clothesline.
"Guts? You mean he's stupid." JBL laughed as Bray stepped on Dean's hand.
"He's not stupid."
"He rushes in headlong, without thinking. That's stupid."
"Sometimes he just legs his emotions get the better of him. But I wouldn't call that stupid." She gritted her teeth.
"Well Angel how do you feel about how this match was made, by a flip of a coin." Cole tired to change the subject.
"Do you really think the coin decided this?" Angel asked him. "It didn't matter what the coin said, Hunter was going to give this match to Dean because he has something up his sleeve."
"Not you too." JBL complained. "You and Michael should make a club the conspiracy theories against the Authority club."
She shook her head and went back to the match playing in front of her as they talked about Bray.
A reversed Irish Whip sent Dean into the ropes, which he used to explode off them and hit a Crossbody, knocking Bray to the mat. Not taking a moment to stop, he got onto of the man and started to hit him over and over with punches to the head.
Bray got free and stumbled his way into the corner, but Dean only stalked up to him, ramming his shoulder into the man's gut. Which Bray stunned by the hit, Dean kept on him with kick after kick, knocking the man down farther and farther until he was sitting on the mat.
"Look at Ambrose." Cole called dragging her back to the conversation.
The ref dragged Dean away from the corner giving Bray enough time to get up so that he could hit Dean with a huge right hook that had him reeling.
"Dean Ambrose, imagine if he wins the WWE World tile." Michael said quickly as Dean reversed what looked to be an Irish Whip to land a short clothesline of his own. "Cover by Ambrose." Bray kicked out. "One of the longest reigning United States Champion of all time but think that would do to Seth Rollins who came out here and said that he made the shield that Ambrose and reigns were just players in Rollins game."
"It would shut him up." Angel smirked as Dean hits a huge drop kick before that practically knocks Bray out of the ring, before he points up at the titles again.
"So, Angel. Cole said after praising the hit. "We really haven't gotten your thoughts of everything that has happened. With Seth I mean."
She sighed already knowing this was coming. "My thoughts? They line pretty well with Dean and Roman. I'm furious. For someone to sell out like that…"
"Oh, come on." JBL interrupted. "he didn't sell out, he bought into making himself better."
"Do you really believe that?" She asked with a roll of her eyes.
"The man said it so I do."
"You believe everything anyone has ever said?"
"Yeah, when they are trustworthy people."
"And Seth is trustworthy?"
"Yeah."
"How!" Angel almost jumped out of her chair. "He betrayed his teammates, what part of that makes him trustworthy."
"Triple H trust him."
"And Triple H hasn't done anything untrustworthy in his career?"
She didn't care what JBL's answer was because Dean launched himself up and over the top rope only to get caught. Eyes widened, she watched as Bray picked the man up and slammed his back against the apron.
"Dean!" She gasped rising from her chair to get a better look at him. Her eye ran from the sight in front of her to the screen as she watched a camera man get into Dean's face. She could see the pain that rose on his face. Could hear the groans that came from him as he gripped his shoulder, his left shoulder.
Why always the left one? She cried.
She also made a mental note of the spot of blood that was on his chin, his stitches had gave way at some point.
Feeling sick, she realized there was nothing she could do as Bray stood over Dean's body, with those dark eyes locked in her direction.
"Come on Ambrose!" Wyatt yelled as he reached down and grabbed Dean's bad arm.
"Dean's hurt." Cole sighed in a low voice.
Clench her hands to her chest, Angel watched as Bray abused that left shoulder over and over, even as Dean fought to keep in the match.
"Come on Ambrose!" Bray yelled again as he held Dean on the apron by his hair. She felt as if she was going to puke as Bray grabbed Dean's left arm, twisted it and jumped of the apron. Dean body lurched forward and because of how is arm was twist he was forced to turn into the fall so that he landed right on his already hurting shoulder.
Her eyes quickly ran to the ref once again as she awaited the dreaded X sign from him, but it never came. Instead Dean rolled off the apron still holding his arm against his side.
A range of mixed emotions raced through her as Cole's voice raced through her head as he told the world once again about the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. She found herself wanting to slap the man as he babbled on and on. She knew that it was the man's job but was this really the perfect time to be doing this? When Dean could be really hurt?
Bray threw Dean back into the ring and boy did he look shell shocked as the crowd cheered "Let's go Ambrose!"
Bray grabbed Dean by the head and kissing his forehead in a blessing type of way before punching him in the same spot. As Dean reeled back from the hit, Bray grabbed him once again and picked him up looking at if he was going for a Suplex or something.
Suddenly, Dean seemed to snap alive as he twisted out of the man's hold and planted him with a quick butterfly DDT, making Angel gasp with a excitement.
"Ambrose planting Bray Wyatt with a DDT."
"That's it." Angel clapped on the table. As she tried to will on the man who was crawling away from his opponent.
"Cover him Dean, cover him!" JBL yelled.
Dean tried to get to his feet, when a ripple of pain echoed on his face as he reached up and slapped the arm he was keeping pinned to his side.
Horror filled her eyes as she watched Dean smash his left shoulder, over and over into the mat.
"That shoulder is really hurting." Cole mumbled as he glanced at Angel out of the corner of his eyes. Like he was trying to inform her of the information she already knew.
Swallowing the lump in her throat she had to glance away as Dean made his way over to the turnbuckles to see if they would work better.
"It might be out of socket. He maybe trying to put his shoulder back in." JBL said sounding shocked.
"The official is asking Dean if he's ok to continue and he says he is."
"Is he nuts?"
Angel shook her head. "I wouldn't call it nuts. He's determined and hard-headed. Dean doesn't give up easily."
Even though sometimes I wished he did. She thought. It wasn't like she didn't love his 'damn it all' attitude that he had in the ring. She really did, it was part of what made him, him and she loved him. But why couldn't the man just care about his body a little bit?
Tears were starting to brim in her eyes as she watched Bray focus like a laser right back onto Dean's shoulder, clubbing it, grabbing it, and pulling on it until Dean was at his mercy once more.
Just then a sick smirk appeared on Bray's face as his eyes locked onto the corner of the ring. No. Her heart fell as she watched him readjust her hold on Dean until he held him in such away that could force the man across the ring, picking up speed as they went. At last second Bray let go and Dean went smashing, shoulder first, into the steel pole.
"DEAN!" She screamed as she shot up from her chair.
She scrambled to untangled form her headset as Cole said something about her leaving to check on her boyfriend. By the time she had made her way around the table, Bray was already back on Dean who had cleared himself to keep going.
Her eyes watered slightly as Bray smashed his head against the post. She hoped that Dean's hard head would keep him from any serious harm.
Bray dragged Dean back into the ring and rolled him up into a pin that Dean kicked out of. However, before Dean could get away, Bray grabbed both of his shoulders and dug his fingers into the muscle.
Pain echoed on Dean's face as he sat there while Bray pressing down on him. Although it seemed like he wasn't paying much attention to the man lumbering over him as he twisted and beat his left arm.
As Angel stepped up closer to the apron, she noticed the dark bruise that was forming on Dean's arm. Which hit caused it? Was it the hit off the apron, the way his body slammed into the steel pole?
Dean looked up and his eyes seemed to finally register that Bray was holding him down. Twisting from pain to anger, Dean forced his body around so that he could get to his knees. When he got one of his feet under him, he reached up and grabbed onto Bray's beard.
"Dean let go!" The ref said as he pulled on Dean's arm.
Just when it looked like Dean was about to get DQed for not listening, Bray hit Dean in the gut with his knee forcing him to lurch backward.
Not wasting any time, Bray snatched Dean up for a Body Slam.
"Come on, Dean." Angel said as she smacked the apron.
Above him, Bray stood with his arms out wide with a spacy look on his face. Almost as if he had forgotten that he was part of a match. However as quick as the look appeared it vanished as the man pushed himself towards the ropes; using them to gain speed for what looked like a Senton Bomb. Before the move could hit, Dean expertly rolled out of the way.
Angel cheered, earning her a look from Dean. She knew he was upset by the face that she had left the 'safety' of the announcers table.
Shaking his head, Dean scrambled for the ropes. He pulled himself out onto the apron and onto his feet, just in time for Bray to grab him and force him towards the corner. Right before Dean's head went smashing against the turnbuckle, Dean countered by putting his foot up on the pole, stopping himself. He then used the small moment that Bray was stunned his plan didn't work to slam Bray's face against the buckle instead.
"Get it back in the ring." The ref told Dean as climbed up to the top rope.
Angel stepped back and brought her hands to her face as she watched the two men fight for dominance up on the ropes. One wrong turn and Dean was falling backwards onto the floor and chances that he would be able to stop himself with his one good arm was slim.
Bray tucked Dean in for a Superplex. "The little lamb is watching." She heard Bray tell Dean as he leaned towards him. "We should give her a good show."
"Don't…call her that." Dean gritted out as he forced Bray's arm off him. Once free, Dean stood completely up and grabbed onto Bray's head. With a dark look on his face, Dean hit Bray with headbutt after headbutt not letting the man go until he fell off the rope.
Still holding his arm against him, Dean stepped one foot up on the top rope and stared down at Bray. When Bray was back up on his feet, Dean launched himself towards the man his arm up for his Elbow Drop.
Angel heart dropped as Bray caught him, in a way that was very similar to when he smashed his arm against the apron. Fear ran through her as he lifted Dean up in the air, though before Bray could smash him down onto the mat, Dean hit him with an elbow to the face.
Thank god. She didn't know if Dean's arm could take another hit like that.
The hit seemed to anger Bray as he came reeling back and slammed his fist into Dean's face. Dean shot backwards through the rope and even with his hurt arm caught himself before falling.
Using the ropes to his advantage, he flung himself at Bray and hit him with a clothesline that knocked both of them to the mat. Dean crawled his way with one arm over to cover.
One. Two. Kick out.
"You got this Dean!" She clapped her hands. "You got this."
D.D.D
Two things were fueling him at this moment, anger and pain. He dragged his left arm and pinned it against his own body, holding it like it was broken. Hell, he almost preferred it to be broken in some way, he could fight through just pain, could force his body to listen to him. He had done it many times. But the numbing feeling that shot through his arm in time with his heartbeat and the weakened feeling were madding. He couldn't even make a proper fist with how his arm was reacting to the hit.
Pushing himself up onto his to his knees, his eyes locked onto Bray. He wasn't the only one pissed off. The look in Bray's eyes said that he was expecting Dean to fight this hard. Well at least I managed to piss off the hillbilly.
"Come on, Bray." Dean taunted. "Right in jaw. Knock a few of my teeth loose. I dare ya."
Bray shoot up and Dean felt the right hook against his cheek. Man did it hurt, did it send his brain rattling in his head but it was just what he needed.
Fighting the smirk that was trying to work it's way up onto his face, retaliated with a right of his own.
Back and forth they went throwing fist and slaps; that was until Dean got cocky and decided to add his foot to the equation. Bray caught his foot mid-kick and used it to knock him off balance and down into the mat.
Angel's going to kick my ass for that one. He sighed as he felt his chin vibrating and throbbing from the hit. Vision still blurry he scrambled to his feet and stepped backwards until he felt his back hit against what he knew was the turn buckles.
Taking the moment to breath, he instantly saw that Bray thought he was down more than he really was. He didn't even try to follow up the hit. He had two options, blast out of the corner, or play dead and capitalize when Bray least expected it.
He chose the latter and when Bray took off across the ring to pick up speed, he followed right behind him. Not stomping, Dean plowed right into the man right as he turned around. Pain jumped through his arm, right before it went numb again.
Fucking hell. He stumbled backwards before swinging it around, trying to get his feeling back. Hissing, his eyes dropped to find his opponent, and that's when he realized that Bray had rolled out of the ring.
His body moved on its own as he raced across the ring to hit the ropes for momentum, before sending himself flying through the ropes to land right on top of Bray. Not able to catch himself, Dean went crashing down to the floor as well.
Pain hit him so sharply that he had to beat his good arm of the ground a few times just to some himself from crying out in pain.
"Three!" He heard both the ref and the audience count.
Fighting the urge to just lay down on the nice cold and slightly padded floor, Dean pushed himself up while dragging Bray with him.
At the count of Seven he got both himself and Bray back into the ring.
Finish this. He told himself as he marched up to the man in the ring with him, catching the kick that was aimed right for his chest.
Holding on the best he could, he tired to use Bray's leg to roll him up but since he wasn't able to get a good grip with only one arm, Bray kicked out easily.
Groaning, he stumbled his way over to the far corner of the ring; hoping that the separation would give him enough time to breath, to think of a plan. But Bray had other plans as he came barreling towards him.
Just as the man was about to use his body to smash him into the corner, he got his foot up just in time. The impact pushed his body up so that he was draped over the ropes. You're already up here, use it to your advantage.
Fighting his way up to the top rope, Dean locked his eyes on Bray once again. He knew that he would be ready for the Elbow Drop again, so it was time to switch it up. Jumping out of the corner, Dean threw himself back and scrunched his legs in as much as he could until he felt the bottom of his boot touch Bray's chest. With everything he could muster, he kicked his feet out and sent the man flying.
Pain hit him as he landed yet again on his arm.
"Dean you have to cover!" Angel called out to him. "Cover him."
Right, I have to cover. He mumbled as he rolled towards Bray and covered.
And yet again the man somehow kicked out of the cover.
Gritting his teeth, Dean tired to think of a way to put Bray down, quickly. It was time for Dirty Deeds.
Making it to his feet, he grabbed Bray by the head and pulled him in, tucking his head under his arm. This was going to hurt, he was going to have to land right on his bad arm but at least it should end this.
Just as he went to swing his leg around for the momentum, he needed to perform the move, he was thrown with force towards the ropes. Instinct kicked in as he ran the ropes, ducking under a wild swing. However, when he went for the second pass, a mac-truck hit him and hit him hard.
Chest heaving, Dean laid there staring up at the lights above him. When a heavy weight laid atop him, there was a small part of him that was screaming stay down. It was probably the sane part of him.
Good thing he's a lunatic. As the second count came, Dean threw his good arm up in the air, breaking the pin.
"Why won't you just stay down?" Bray asked as he grabbed a chunk of his hair.
After being pulled to his feet, Dean found his head tucked under Bray's arm while his left arm was slung over the man's neck, the set up for a Suplex. Great.
Bray gave out a grunt as Dean felt himself being lifted in the air. Trying to avoid the hit, he kicked around wildly, which forced Bray to put him down. With quick thinking that even surprised him, as soon as his feet hit the ground, he grabbed on tightly to Bray and picked them back up. Which pulled the man up and over him for a roll up pin.
Bray kicked out.
Not time to waste, this was desperation time. Making it to his feet, Dean turned around and raced back into the action. Without a second through, he brought his foot up and kicked the man right in gut making him bend over.
Without hesitation, Dean grabbed the man and tucked his head under his left arm. Swinging his leg out for the momentum, he hurled both them headfirst towards the mat for his Dirty Deeds.
The air was knocked from his lungs as the spike of pain shot right up his left arm. The pain was so bad that a haze filled his vision, that his brain seemed to turn off for a moment. No! No, cover him you idiot!
He shoved himself up onto his hands and knees when his eyes caught something that he wasn't quite sure if it was real.
Seth was standing there in front of the announcers' table, with his hands grasping onto a very pissed looking Angel's arms.
Blinking his eyes, he realized the sight that he saw was true. Anger ripped through him like nothing he had ever experienced before and everything around him faded away. The match that he had been fighting was now forgotten completely as he glared at the man who was taunting him.
"Hey, Ambrose!" He yelled. "I got your girl."
Dean jaw locked as he dragged his tired body towards the ropes.
A.A.A.
Angel fought Seth's hold on her, bucking around and swinging about until she knew she looked rapid to anyone watching, but she didn't care. She hated the feeling of his hands on her arms. Hated that she couldn't turn around and slap the man for everything.
"Let go of me." She gritted out as she spied Dean rolling out of the ring. Even as the man's body was trashed and he looked like he was seconds away from passing out, he stomped his way towards them. "Seth…"
She couldn't get another word out due to her body lurching forward.
"Catch." Seth laughed as he pushed her toward the staggering Dean.
Not able to stop herself, she tripped and smashed against Dean's chest knocking both of them back against the apron.
Righting her, Dean let out a growl before setting her to the side to chase after Seth.
As Seth slid into the ring and ran straight past Bray who was getting to his feet a realization hit her.
This was the plan all along. She knew that Hunter had something up his sleeve. Knew that there was no way he would just hand Dean a shot at the title match. No matter what Dean wasn't going to win this match, Hunter had made sure of that.
Angel sighed as Dean ran right into Bray who caught him and hit him with a Sister Abigail.
She was already heading for the ring as the ref counted. "One. Two. Three."
Dean had lost.
Sliding under the ropes, Angel made her way over to Dean who was laying in the center of the ring, his eyes still locked on Seth as the man backed up the ramp.
Leaning over Dean, Angel felt a twinge of guilt hit her. She had been apart of the reason that Dean had lost. I shouldn't have left commentary. She beat herself up even as she checked over the man under her.
Katara Melody Cullen: I'm so glad that you liked the chapter. It was really fun to write. I do have to go back and edit it a little bit. I reread it and wow...I'm bad at catching somethings. And I totally understand what you mean. Just two normal people having a good time together.
Skovko: Thanks girl! I'm glad you like the picture. I'm trying to draw more and more if you have an idea let me know!
Labinnacslove: She'll still stay Roman's manager but she's going to be more backstage for him while she more of a public manager for Dean.
NotRob: Angel is kind of over, there are some people who really like her. They have signs like I'll fight for Angel. They respect her as a manager but she does get most of her cheers due to being with Dean. Oh but there are some people who hate her as well. (You'll see) Thanks for the question. I hope I answered it well.
Canadice: I'm so glad that you liked it! I had planned for awhile to have this kind of chapter, the two of them really needed it.
Sonia: I'm glad you like the chapter! I thought it would be cute for Dean to put the picture on his phone and then kind of forget that it's there. Not in a bad way, just he got used to it.
Samcoo 12: I love the domestic stuff too. It's hard to write because Dean's not really the domestic type of person but he's getting there.
BrookeWorm3: She most certainly be with him for the long all! No worries!
DT610: Holy crap! Rereading this story is a big task, It hard for me to even do it...but then again all i see is everything I have to edit. Lol. I'm so glad that you said in a relatively short amount of time. Because I'm scared that their relationship is going slow but then it's only been like not even five months. Oh i love the Rollins/Ambrose feud, I hope I do it justice!
Bumblebee3230: My heart is in a flutter! Thank you for the review. I don't know what to say. Did my story really change the way you looked at the Shield? Well if it did I'm glad. Sadly for a while you won't be seeing much of them together it's onto the Ambrose vs Rollins stuff. Welcome to the story by the way!
