Atem should have figured this would be the go to from the minute he set foot in 1-A. Quirk assessment update—in other words under the guise of seeing how everyone was doing, what they really wanted was to see him put his money where his mouth was and prove he was capable of keeping up. When Aizawa ordered them all to get into their gear, he grabbed his case along with the others and headed for the changing rooms.

Before coming to U.A. he had some alterations done to his gear. Accounting for a different climate, as well as making improvements to the overall design. From his neck to his ankles his gear consisted of a black body suit that fitted snuggly. Made from sturdy materials, it acted like a second skin and adjusted accordingly with his body temperature. It was sleeveless, with fingerless gloves just above the elbow made from the same fabric and at the collar was a detachable hood, the inside blood red.

On his feet he wore knee length boots, the soles reinforced for more durability. On either calf and thigh were dagger holders and slung about his hips was a dual belt similar to when he was still with Yugi, specialised compartments held his blood vials on the right and on the left inside a lightweight hip pack were his syringes.

Usually, he didn't care if they were visible, but he'd heard stories that Japan weren't as pleasant about blood Quirks as Egypt was. So, best not to shove it anyone's face.

Lastly, strapped to his right thigh was his bow. Shut down, it was barely visible. Which made it harder for it to be snatched and since it was coded to Atem, only he could use it. His designer had wanted to add in a shock current for any would be thieves, but Atem turned him down.

"Listen up!" Aizawa called, drawing everyone's attention. "The point of this exercise is to see how far you've come. Usually, we'd put you through some tests individually, but this time I think pitting you against one another would not only let us see where you've improved, but what you have learned about each other."

"And the newbie?" Bakugo scoffed, watching the Egyptian's irritated gaze snap toward him. "Are you just dumping the poor bastard in headfirst? We've no idea what he can do, and he hasn't seen any of our Quirks either."

A dangerous grin spread across Aizawa's face. "Well...when you put it like that, thanks for volunteering. Atem you're up first with Bakugo."

"What the crap?!"

"Try not to destroy the P.E. grounds."

"Why the crap!"

Rolling his eyes, Atem stepped forward, ignoring the rest of 1-A's muttering. This kid, Bakugo, was like a mix between Joey and Kaiba...only a whole lot angrier and part of him relished the idea of taking him down a peg.

Bakugo stomped forward, mumbling colourful curses, before jabbing a finger in Atem's direction. "Listen up Extra! I'm gonna kick your scrawny ass!"

As of he hadn't heard that before. Of course, Kaiba tended to be a bit more eloquent in his threats.

From the corner of his eye, he noticed a green haired teenager had produced a notebook and was furiously scribbling in it, muttering to himself. Green eyes darting up every now again to study Atem. By the sounds of it, he and everyone else was trying to figure out his Quirk.

He had plenty of vials filled with his own blood, but Atem wasn't too keen on injuring Bakugo. For those arrows to work effectively, he needed it to hit flesh. What he needed were arrows that didn't require contact and for that...he was going to need a little something from his opponent.

Aizawa had barely ordered them to begin, before Bakugo was moving.

"DIE!" The teenager howled, using his Quirk to propel him forward. Only to come up short when Atem dropped and slid beneath him, getting out of reach. "You snake eyed bastard! Fight me!"

Atem laughed. The boy's fuse was shorter than Joey's that was for damn sure. "I'm not inclined to stay put to get hit."

Snarling, Bakugo raised his gloved hands, sparks lighting them up. "So, you're gonna just run from me? Is that it? Well, game over and now you DIE!"

Another blast, and Atem sprang up, leaping over it and landed with a slide on the sandy ground. Fact was, Bakugo would be impossible to get near, so Atem had to tire him first.

The Earth shook with each impact of Bakugo's explosions and from how powerful they were getting, Atem figured he was really beginning to piss the boy off.

"I don't get it," Atem heard one of the girls say. "Why isn't he using his Quirk?"

"Good question, Mina," Aizawa responded calmly.

Atem scoffed to himself. Clearly U.A. had a basic gist of his Quirk, but not the drawbacks. He could have ended this match in a second, but Bakugo wasn't a Villain and he refused to harm a classmate if he didn't have to.

"Damn it!" Bakugo howled when Atem dodged yet another attack. By now the ground was churned up, debris everywhere and dust forming a thick cloud so...he could no longer see Atem!

The needle came from behind, biting into his thigh and drawing a startled yelp from Bakugo as it drew blood rapidly. "Bastard!" He roared, but just as quickly as he was stuck, the needle was gone, retracted back.

The cloud of dust fell just as Atem caught the needle and pulled away the vial full of Bakugo's blood.

"A blood Quirk!" The green haired teen called out in shock.

Atem grinned; eyes glowing. "My turn."

Tipping the vial, the blood poured, shifted and reshaped into arrows. As Bakugo geared up for another attack, Atem activated his bow and fired.

The arrow exploded on impact the minute it struck the ground, sending Bakugo sprawling, the blonde sputtering furious curses. "What the crap?!"

"My Quirk allows me to use anyone's blood to create arrows," Atem explained, already shaping another from Bakugo's blood. "And if that blood comes from a Quirk user, well, they take on an interesting effect."

"BASTARD!" Bakugo howled; furious his own Quirk was being used against him.

Atem watched him lunge, but arrow already nocked, he let it fly and the resounding explosion knocked Bakugo back on his ass. This kept up for several minutes, until Bakugo's arms and shoulders began to cramp painfully, his body screaming at him to stop. Dehydration was a pain in the ass side effect of his Quirk, but the hell he'd let Atem win and ignoring his body's warning system, he sprang forward.

"DIE!" Quirk suddenly shut down; Bakugo spun in fury toward Aizawa. "Let my Quirk go!"

Eyes lit up brilliant red, hair erect, Aizawa scoffed. "Not a chance. I know my students and you're at your limit. Injuring yourself just to prove a point won't achieve anything. You lost. Concede with grace."

Snarling in fury, Bakugo forcefully relaxed his stance and tossing a hateful glance toward Atem, he stomped back to the sidelines. Panting lowly, Atem shutdown his bow and strapped it to his thigh. Pocketing the last of Bakugo's blood, he returned to the group.

With tempers relaxed, Aizawa deactivated his Quirk and called for the next pair. It was going to be a long morning.

X.x.X

By the time lunch rolled around, Atem was honestly exhausted. He was used to rigorous training, but Aizawa was a hell of a hard ass and there was no let up. He'd never complain about his teachers in Cairo again! Taking his tray, the smell of curry making his stomach rumble, he grabbed the first free table and was barely two bites in when he was no longer alone.

"Hello!" A brown haired girl greeted in a bubbly manner, reminding him a lot of Téa Gardner. "My name is Ochaco Uraraka…This is Tenya Iida, Shoto Todoroki and Izuku Midoriya."

Red eyes jumping between the faces, Atem logged away the names. "Atem Samir." He responded politely.

"Your Quirk is amazing!" Izuku gushed. "You can make arrows from blood, but you didn't attack until you used Kacchan's blood. Does yours not work? Or can it lead to damage if you do? How did you know what the arrows would do? I bet there is a weakness somewhere. Blood Quirks can be extremely taxing depending on how they are applied …. mutter…. mutter…mutter…mutter…. mutter…..mutter…. mutter…"

Blinking, Atem couldn't help but chuckle. Izuku's enthusiasm reminded him so much of Yugi. His sweet Hikari would get just as animated when it came to Duel Monsters. "I can use my blood yes, but depending on the effect, I can either strike the surrounding area or my opponent. For my blood, I would have to hit my opponent and I wasn't about to do that, even though it would have instantly nullified his Quirk."

Izuku was surprised. "Y-You could have ended the match in seconds!"

"Yes, but Bakugo isn't a Villain."

"That's extremely noble of you," Shoto commented softly. "Recovery Girl would be able to patch him up in an instant, but you still found an alternative."

Atem nodded. "As for knowing…The blood tells me. I can identify a person's Quirk and the effect it'll have with my arrows once I have blood contact."

"Wait!" Izuku spluttered, green eyes widening. "But then…you wouldn't have known if Kacchan's blood could be used."

"Nope," Atem replied with a grin.

"Talk about just winging it!" Ochaco laughed. "You looked so calm!"

"I could have beaten him without my Quirk," Atem corrected. "At my old school, we were taught to fight Quirkless. Quirks aren't dependable in every situation and waiting for a Hero with the right Quirk can be the difference between life and death."

"A fair assessment," Tenya said, eyes narrowed in thought. "I suppose, a lot of Heroes depend too much on their Quirk."

"Well, realistically that's harder to apply with a Villain gunning for you with a powerful Quirk," Atem admitted. "But it's better to know how to fight without one."

"Well, you've put a target on your back in regard to Bakugo," Shoto said, lifting his chopsticks.

Atem snorted. "I've dealt with bigger hot heads then him."

Kaiba had challenged him for years and couldn't stand to lose and go back further, back to his time as Pharaoh and Zorc Necrophades made Bakugo look like a timid terrier. He looked forward to getting under the boy's skin, because honestly, Bakugo made it way too easy.

"You said your last name is Samir right?"

Jerking out of his thoughts, Atem looked at Izuku and nodded. "That's right."

"Does that make you related to Abasi Samir?" Izuku asked excitedly.

"He's my father."

"That's so cool!" Izuku bubbled.

"You know him, Deku?" Tenya questioned in surprise.

"Abasi Samir is one of the highest ranked in the industry for support items!" Izuku explained, eyes alight. "He started when he was in high school and by the time he was twenty he had established his own business! Now he's one of the richest support item creators in the world, with offices in almost every country! There were rumours he was moving his main office to Japan, but I didn't think it would be this close!"

Atem frowned. His father's company forgotten. "Why did you call him Deku?" He asked Tenya, irritated by the derogatory term. Arabic may have been his native tongue—at least in this world—but he was fluent in Japanese and understood the insult for what it was.

"Oh!" Izuku flushed in embarrassment, understanding immediately how that might have looked. "No…Don't be mad with Iida…It's not how it sounds. See, when I was a kid, Kacchan started calling me Deku as a way to make fun of me…but when I came to U.A. I decided to take the name for my Hero name. Give it some meaning beyond a tool to hurt me."

Gaze softening, Atem relaxed and smiled. "That's a very good way to see it. It has no power that way."

So often he had seen Yugi take words, strikes and turn it against his attackers by making them mean nothing. Eyes sliding toward Bakugo, watching the teenager gripe at the red headed boy from class, Atem figured he'd keep an eye. He may not have the Millenium puzzle anymore, but there were ways to put someone in their place without it.

Grinning to himself, he enjoyed the rest of his lunch.
