Turffield Gym Battles (Part One)
Back in Royal Woods, Lynn Jr was sitting on the couch, watching a Galar TV show that showed a Hitmonchan, fighting with a Hitmonlee, while their trainers gave commands.
"Go for the breadbasket, Hitmonchan!" shouts Lynn Jr as she stood up. Just then, her parents, and her sisters who weren't in the Galar Region walked into the living room.
"What are you watching, sweetie?" asked Rita.
"Pokemon Wrestling." said Lynn Jr. Just then, their doorbell rang, followed by the yelp from whoever was unfortunate enough to push the defective button. Lynn Sr walks over to the door and opens it, showing Howard and Harold McBride, with Harold shaking his hand after getting shocked, along with Maria and Bobby Santiago.
"You really need to get that doorbell button looked at." said Harold.
"I know." said Lynn Sr. They all then walk into the living room and over to the couch.
"Honey?" said Rita. "Can we see what else is on Galar TV in case one of your siblings, Ronnie Anne, or Clyde is on?"
"Sure. That Hitmonlee is done for, anyway." said Lynn Jr as she watches the Hitmonlee fall to the ground unconscious after being on the receiving end of a Thunder Punch from Hitmonchan. She gives Rita the remote, who then starts surfing through channels until they see an area that looked like several indoor meadows with large hay bales between each one.
"What's this show?" asked Lori.
"I don't know, but I think that's Lucy coming down some steps." said Bobby. They all look and see that Lucy was in fact, coming down some steps into the area.
"Our little Lucy's on TV." said Rita.
"What's she doing?" asked Luan.
"Let's wait and see." said Lynn Sr. Just then, an announcer was heard.
"We are live at the Turffield Stadium where the next challenger, Lucy Loud, is about to attempt her Gym Test." said the announcer. "If she passes, she earns the right to challenge the Gym Leader, Milo, to a gym battle to earn her Grass Badge."
"Gym Test?" replied Lisa.
"What's that?" asked Lori.
"Let's watch and find out." said Rita.
"I'll go get some snacks." said Lynn Sr. as he runs to the kitchen. Meanwhile, back at the Turffield Stadium, a staff member was explaining the Gym Test to Lucy.
"Ms. Loud. For your Gym Test, you need to herd all twenty of these Wooloos over to each hay bale barricade in order to knock them down." said the staff member as he points to a herd of Wooloos. "If you do this three times, you pass the Gym Test. Are you ready?"
"Yes." said Lucy in a monotone.
"Very well." said the staff member. "You may begin now." A whistle was heard, and Lucy steps out onto the first meadow. She walks towards the Wooloos, who start rolling away from her when she got close. As they roll down the meadow, they suddenly see Lucy who just pops out in front of them without being noticed, startling them, and making them change direction. The Wooloos, startled with Lucy's sudden appearance, were suddenly shocked again when she's seen ahead of them again, making them change direction again. This keeps up until they reach the first hay barricade and knock it down. Lucy does this for the last two hay barricades. After getting through the last one, the Wooloos head into seperate pens, a little shaken up with Lucy's disappearing/reappearing ability. Lucy then walks up some stairs to a round doorway. When she gets to the top, smoke sprays up from the sides of the stairs.
Back in Royal Woods, everyone at the Loud residence were watching Lucy's Gym Test with amusement.
"That looks like fun." said Luan.
"I could do that." said Lynn Jr.
"We know you could." said Rita. They then hear the announcer start talking.
"And Lucy has successfully passed her Gym Test." said the announcer. "Please report to the pitch for your gym battle." Everyone cheers in response.
"She did it!" said Rita.
"That's my girl!" said Lynn Sr.
"That was interesting to watch." said Lisa. Back on the Turffield Stadium's pitch, Lucy was standing in one of the tunnels, looking at the crowd.
"This is intense." said Lucy in a monotone voice. She then sees her siblings, Ronnie Anne, and Clyde in the stands. The staff member from before walks over to her.
"You may walk out onto the pitch now." said the staff member. Lucy nods and walks out of the tunnel, with the crowd, including her siblings and friends, cheering for her.
"You can do it, Lucy!" said Lincoln.
"We are all, totes, behind you." said Leni. Lucy nods in response with something that might be a smile on her face. Out of a tunnel on the opposite side of the field, Milo walks out. He and Lucy walk to the center of the pitch and look at each other.
"I must say that I was impressed with your 'unique' way of herding those Wooloos." said Milo.
"It's a talent I possess." said Lucy.
"Well, let's see how talented you are as a Pokemon trainer." said Milo. A referee steps out onto the pitch.
"This will be a two-on-two battle between the Gym Leader, Milo; and the Gym Challenger, Lucy Loud. Both trainers will battle until both of a trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. Whoever has Pokemon still conscious at the end of the battle will be the winner." said the referee. He then walks off to the sidelines, while Milo and Lucy walk onto opposite sides of the field and each pull out a pokeball. Milo throws his, releasing a green, plantlike Pokemon that had red hair-like growths on the back of its head, and a large yellow flower on top of it. Lucy and Lincoln take out their Rotom Phones and point them at the Pokemon.
"Gossifleur, the Flowering Pokemon. It whirls around in the wind while singing a joyous song. This delightful display has charmed many into raising this Pokémon." said Lucy and Lincoln's Rotom Phones.
"It's so cute." said Lola. "It's a shame that Lucy has to fight it."
"Totes." said Leni.
"But she has to." said Lincoln. "At least it isn't personal." Back on the pitch, Lucy throws her pokeball, releasing her Noibat.
"Noibat, use Wing Attack." said Lucy. Noibat flies at the Gossifleur and strikes it with her wing, doing super effective damage, and knocking it to the ground unconscious, shocking Milo.
"Gossifleur is unable to battle. Noibat is the winner." said the referee.
"Incredible! Lucy's Noibat takes out Milo's Gossifleur with one blow!" said the announcer.
"Woohoo! Go, Lucy!" cheered Lincoln.
"You got this, sis!" said Luna. Milo returns his Gossifleur to its pokeball.
"Rest up, Gossifleur." said Milo. He puts Gossifleur's pokeball away and looks at Lucy's Noibat. "Your Noibat must be strong to be able to knock out Gossifleur in one hit."
"I've trained my Pokemon a lot." said Lucy. Milo nods and he pulls out his last pokeball. He throws it, releasing a light green, plant-like Pokemon that had a large cotton puff on its head. Lucy and Lincoln point their Rotom Phones at the new Pokemon.
"Eldegloss, the Cotton Bloom Pokemon, and the evolved form of Gossifleur. The cotton on the head of this Pokémon can be spun into a glossy, gorgeous yarn—a Galar regional specialty." said Lucy and Lincoln's Rotom Phones.
"Ooh." said Lola. "I wonder how gorgeous that yarn is."
"Maybe I can try getting an Eldegloss and see for myself. I might try making some new clothes from it." said Leni. Back on the pitch, Milo lifts his arm, revealing his Dynamax Band, surprising the Louds, Clyde, and Ronnie Anne.
"He has a Dynamax Band?" asked Clyde.
"Well, he is a Gym Leader, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised." said Lincoln.
"Come on, then! It's Dynamax time! You're about to be uprooted!" said Milo. He then returns his Eldegloss to its pokeball, then uses his Dynamax Band to enlarge it. He throws it, releasing his now Dyanmaxed Eldegloss.
Back at the Loud House, everyone watched with suspense.
"Whoa! That Pokemon is big now!" said Luan.
"So that's the Dynamax phenomenon that Lincoln's told us about." said Lisa. "Quite fascinating."
"How's Lucy supposed to beat that?!" asked Lynn Jr. As they watch, they see Lucy lift her arm up, revealing her Dynamax Band.
"She has one of those wrist bands, too?" asked Luan. They watch as Lucy returns Noibat to her pokeball, enlarges it, and throws it, releasing her from it.
"Looks like the playing ground is even now." said Lynn Jr with a smirk. Back at Turffield, the two Dynamaxed Pokemon were staring each other down.
"Noibat, use Max Airstream." said Lucy. Noibat releases a strong spiral of wind at Eldegloss, hitting it, and doing super effective damage to it. A surge of energy then surges up around Noibat, increasing her speed. The Eldegloss struggles to stay standing.
"Unbelievable! Even after that powerful Max Airstream, Eldegloss is still standing somehow! Can Milo somehow pull off a win?" asked the announcer.
"Eldegloss! Use Max Overgrowth!" said Milo. Eldegloss launches large, glowing green seeds from her mouth which land around Noibat, which then sprout up, releasing a blast of green energy, which hits Noibat, but not seeming to do much damage to her.
"Noibat is part flying and part dragon types." said Lucy. "Grass type moves won't do much against her." Grass suddenly sprouts up on the pitch, releasing a green aura that seems to heal Eldegloss and Noibat a little bit.
"Max Overgrowth creates a field that heals Pokemon a bit every now and then, as well as powering up grass type moves." said Milo.
"I see." said Lucy. "Noibat, one more Max Airstream." Noibat hits Eldegloss with one more Max Airstream, doing more super effective damage to it, as well as causing its energy to explode. Eldegloss shrinks down to its original size and passes out.
"Eldegloss is unable to battle. Noibat is the winner. That means the winner of the gym battle is the challenger, Lucy Loud." said the referee.
"It's over! In one of the most dominating battles I've seen here at Turffield Stadium, Lucy Loud blows away both of Milo's Pokemon with just one of hers." said the announcer. Noibat returns to her normal size and flies over to Lucy and clings to her now outstretched arm, upside down.
"You were great, Noibat." said Lucy.
"Thank you, Lucy." Noibat chirps in response. Her friends and family in the bleachers were cheering for her.
"Lucy won!" said Leni.
"I knew she would!" said Lincoln.
"Dudette did good." said Luna. Back in Royal Woods, everyone was cheering.
"Lucy literally won!" said Lori.
"That was so epic!" said Lynn Jr.
"I'm so proud of her." said Rita. Back at Turffield Stadium, Milo walks over to Lucy.
"Well, you sure blew me away, young lady." said Milo. He then pulls out a gold piece of metal that had a green, leaf-shaped emblem on it. "Take this Grass Badge. You earned it." He hands her the Grass Badge, along with some pokedollars.
"Thank you, sir." said Lucy. A few minutes later, back in the stadium lobby, Lucy was being congratulated by her friends and family.
"You were awesome, Lucy!" said Lincoln.
"Totes!" said Leni. A staff member walks over to the group.
"So, which of you is going to challenge the gym?" asked the staff member.
"I will." said Lana. She then walks towards the door to do her gym test and enters through it.
"The next challenger, Lana Loud, will now attempt the Gym Test." said the announcer. "If she passes, she will be able to challenge Milo for the Grass Badge."
"Do you know what you have to do?" the staff member asked Lana.
"Yeah, I have to lure all these Wooloos through those hay bales." said Lana.
"Very well. When you're ready, you can start." said the staff member. When a whistle sounded thought the test area, Lana charges at the Wooloos on her hands and feet, barking like a dog. This scares the Wooloos and they roll through the first barricade. Lana successfully does this with the other two hay bale walls. After the Wooloos went into the pens, she climbs to the top of the stairs and howls when she reaches it while smoke shoots up from each side of the platform. Back at Royal Woods, everyone was watching Lana.
"Lana did it!" said Luan.
"She sure did." said Lynn Jr.
"That's my girl." said Rita. Minutes later, Lana and Milo were in the middle of the pitch, looking at each other.
"I must say, you used a peculiar method in herding the Wooloos." said Milo.
"Yeah, I do lots of stuff dogs do, except peeing and pooping in public, which I hope to do someday." said Lana. Back at Royal Woods.
"She did not just say that on live television." said Rita with a displeased look on her face. Back at Turffield Stadium, Milo and Lana were standing several feet from each other.
"This will be a two-on-two battle between the Gym Leader, Milo; and the Gym Challenger, Lana Loud. Both trainers will battle until both of a trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. Whoever has Pokemon still conscious at the end of the battle will be the winner." said the referee. He then walks off to the sidelines. Milo and Lana each pull out a pokeball.
"Go, Gossifleur!" said Milo, throwing Gossifluer's pokeball and releasing it.
"Go, Salandit!" said Lana, throwing Salandit's pokeball and releases her.
"Gossifleur, Rapid Spin!" said Milo. Gossifleur spins around and heads towards Salandit and rams her. Gossifleur begins surging with energy and its speed increases.
"Salandit, Poison Fang!" said Lana. Salandit's teeth glow purple and she bites Gossifluer while it was close to her, dealing super effective damage to it and knocking it out.
"Gossifleur is unable to battle. Salandit wins." said the referee.
"Unbelievable! Just like with Lucy Loud's Noibat, Lana's Salandit has taken out Milo's Gossifleur with one attack!" said the announcer. Back at Royal Woods.
"Way to go, sweetie!" said Lynn Sr.
"Go, Lana!" cheered Lynn Jr.
"That Salandit's bite was worse than Lana's bark." said Luan. Back at Turffield Statium, Milo returns Gossifluer to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Gossifluer." said Milo. He puts Gossifluer's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Eldegloss!" He throws Eldegloss' pokeball and releases it. He returns Eldegloss to its pokeball and uses his Dynamax Band to enlarge it, He throws it and release a dynamaxed Eldegloss.
"Two can play that game!" said Lana, raising her arm, revealing her Dynamax Band. She returns Salandit to her pokeball and enlarges it with her Dynamax Band. She throws it and releases her Salandit, now dynamaxed. "Okay, Salandit, Max Ooze!" A massive puddle of purple slime forms beneath Salandit. Another suddenly forms under Eldegloss and a geyser of it shoots up around it, inflicting super effective damage to it. Salandit begins surging with energy due to Max Ooze increasing her special attack power. Eldegloss begins to slump.
"This doesn't look good for Milo." said the announcer. "Not only did Eldegloss receive a lot of damage from Max Ooze, it also powered up Lana's Salandit. What will Milo do next?"
"Use Max Strike!" said Milo. Eldegloss begins surging with energy and a geyser of energy shoots up from below Salandit and damages her. Salandit begins to slump.
"And Salandit's speed has decreased from Max Strike." said the announcer.
"All right, Salandit, Max Flare!" said Lana. Salandit opens her mouth and releases a massive stream of fire from it and it blasts Eldegloss, dealing massive damage to it due to Salandit's special attack power being increased by Max Ooze. Eldegloss returns to its regular size and it passes out.
"Eldegloss is unable to battle. Salandit wins. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Lana Loud." said the referee.
"And it's over! Lana's Salandit has beaten both of Milo's Pokemon and earning her the victory!" said the announcer.
"YEAH!" cheered Lana. Salandit returns to her regular form. Lana runs to her and rubs her head. "You were great, Salandit."
"You got that right!" said Salandit as she nuzzles Lana's leg in response.
"Way to go, Lana!" cheered Clyde from the stand.
"You were, like, totes incredible!" said Leni.
"That's my sister!" cheered Lincoln. Back at Royal Woods, the Louds, Santiagos, and McBrides were cheering.
"That was amazing!" said Harold McBride.
"I'll say that was." said Howard McBride.
"That's my little girl!" said Rita. Back at Turffield Stadium, Milo returns Eldegloss to its pokeball.
"You were great, Eldegloss." said Milo. He puts Eldegloss pokeball away and walks over to Lana and Salandit. "You did an excellent job raising your Salandit."
"Thanks, Milo." replied Lana. Milo reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Grass Badge.
"And as proof of your victory here, I present you with the Grass Badge." said Milo. He gives Lana the badge, along with pokedollars. Later at the stadium lobby, Lincoln, his sisters, Clyde, and Ronnie Anne were congratulating Lana.
"That was so cool." said Ronnie Anne.
"Your Salandit was rocking." said Luna.
"I had no doubt of your victory, Lana." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, guys." said Lana. A staff member approached them.
"So, which of you will be next?" asked the staff member.
"I will!" said Lola.
"Very well, when you're ready, you can walk through those doors to do your Gym Test." said the staff member.
"Make way for Lola!" said Lola. Lucy and Lana have beaten Milo and earned their first badges, now Lola will try to do the same.
