A/N Another chapter though this is more of an interlude between 'Some Assembly Required' and 'School Hard. But I've been meaning to introduce Aisling to Willy before School Hard. So... here you go.
Hope you enjoy.
"Shoot!" Aisling cursed as she ran down the alleyway. It was late- way past dark and she had promised her dad she would be back before sunset.
Aisling looked up at the sky and sighed. So much for that. And she'd decided to leave the car at home because 'it wasn't too far.'
She was such a moron
"Well, well, well." Aisling tensed when she heard the familiar lisp that came with a vampire in their 'game face' as Buffy liked to put it.
Sure enough, a vampire in their demon face came strolling out of the shadows. "What do we have here?"
Aisling glared and immediately went to her back pocket to grab her stake. "Nothing for you." She hissed.
"Really? Cause I smell blood." The vampire said. "Not a safe thing to go walking around after dark with blood on your hands."
Aisling glared as she clutched her stake in her hand. "You have no idea."
The vampire grinned and lunged.
The thing about vampires?
They're strong,
And fast.
And incredibly hard to kill.
Da' had always known that Aisling would never be able to a vampire's strength, speed, and endurance, so he taught her how to fight smarter.
How to find weaknesses in an opponent. How to avoid them, how to stay in their blind spot, how to distract them and at the right moment- attack.
How to use their flaws against them.
And a lot of vampires- especially the fledges - biggest flaw?
Their ego.
Aisling looked up at the vampire from the ground. The vampire had unfortunately been able to throw her down. So she did the only thing she knew to throw him off. "How weak are you? That you can't defeat one measly little girl." She rolled away as the vampire tried to lunge for her.
The vampire smirked "I don't know I already had you on your back once."
Aisling ducked a punch and dove out of the way of the next one. Aisling made a face. "Ew, how old are ya? I mean I know you vampires don't age so you could be hundreds of years old, in which case – I'm too young for you. But you look to be in your mid to late 20s in which case I'm still too young for you."
The vampire growled. It might have been terrifying if she hadn't known about the supernatural world for almost a decade.
In this case, she just grinned.
The vampire was getting angry, and as a result, was becoming sloppy in his attacks. She dropped her bag and pulled out a vial of Holy Water and tossed it at him.
The bottle broke upon contact with his face the vampire screamed in agony as glass pierced his skin and Holy water ran down his cheek leaving smoke and burns in their wake.
The vampire hissed in agony, Aisling wasted no time jumped forward and staked him while he was distracted.
Her shoulders slumped in relief as she breathed heavily for a few moments. Then she looked down at where she dropped her bag and cried out.
The blood bags had broken and there was blood on her shoes.
She must have accidentally stepped on them when she went to stake the vampire.
Bullocks.
"Hey, saw you fightin' that vamp out there."
Aisling looked up. "What do you want?" Aisling asked.
"Hey, hey no need to be cross. Just thought I'd greet the newest demon hunter. I keep you happy, you don't ruin my business."
"Ruin your…" Aisling shook her head. "What kind of business do you run? Demon related? To be honest, so long as they don't kill/hurt anyone in front of me, I assume they're decent beings."
"Not, really, a demon hunter attitude."
"Da's the demon hunter, I'm tryin' to survive 10th grade." She stared at him "What type of business do you run?" She asked again.
"Bar, a couple of blocks from here."
"Demon?"
"Hey, I serve humans too."
Aisling didn't care about that. "Serve blood?"
"Now I don't- I serve respectable demons. No beings that eat humans sit at my bar, I don't like the trouble, you hear?"
"Good thing I know that not every vampire eats humans." Aisling cut in. "Also you're a shite liar." She told him.
"Ok, so I serve some vamps. Way I see it if they're sitting in my bar, they ain't out killing people."
"I agree," Aisling said standing up.
"Now wait just a-" Willy paused and stared at Aisling. "Hold on what?"
"I need blood," Aisling said. "And I need you to not ask questions."
"Not ask…" Willy looked down and noticed the broken blood bags on the ground. "Ah. Dad ain't just a demon hunter I take it. Your Dad don't go by Angel by any chance does he?"
"He'd be offended at the insinuation," Aisling said. "How much for the blood? How much to keep you quiet?"
Willy stared at her looked her up and down. "Come with me."
Aisling stared at him suspiciously.
Willy shook his head. "I ain't gonna hurt you," Willy said.
Aisling stared down at the broken blood bags, and up at him. Her father needed blood, he was running low and because of what had happened in Prague he went through blood as a fish went through water.
And he'd need a lot more if he was going to go to PT Night. Which he was insisting on going on no matter what.
So she followed him down a couple of blocks to a small little night bar.
It was filled with demons. She could see a few vampires seated at the bar counter, a Loose-skinned demon was playing cards with a Chirago demon, and a Lizard demon. A parasite demon was sitting alone at a table in the back of the bar, and a Prio Motu demon was seated near the door. There were also plenty of demons that she didn't know the species of. There were also a few humans (or vampires that weren't in their demon face/passing demons) that were sprinkled around the bar.
They all turned to stare at her as she entered behind Willy.
"I have a credit card," Aisling said (Spike had given her one to be used in emergencies… dad's potential for starving counted as an emergency) while Willy went behind the bar and started filling a bag with blood. "Can I pay with that?"
Willy looked at the young girl something must have shown on her face because Willy softened and he shook his head. "On the house, think of it as a token of goodwill."
Aisling nodded and looked relieved. "My dad – as far as I know – has never attacked a demon bar especially if that demon bar has a 'don't do anything evil or stupid' policy," She said.
"Hey, I have a strict no-killing policy." Willy agreed. "If you want to get into a fight it has to be out of my line of sight."
" "In my experience, bartenders that run demon establishments often know everything there is to know in the demon community – have you ever snitched on your clientele?"
"I'd never snitch – scouts honour."
"That so?" Aisling asked. "Hmm."
"Yeah." Willy handed over a bag filled with blood. "Got you some human, some orangutang, even a bit of Otter – gives the blood a kind of kick."
Aisling nodded her head. "Thank you." She turned to the nearest vampire, 'He known for slipping something into the blood?"
The vampire looked at her disgusted and motioned to the blood he was drinking.
Aisling nodded. "Fair enough." She grabbed the bag and made to leave the bar.
Willy stared at her and motioned to someone behind her. "You have a way of getting home?"
"I'll be fine."
"I don't mind taking you home." The Loose-skinned demon she noticed before stood up. "It's not safe for a little girl like you to be out alone."
"Sorry…" Aisling paused.
"Clem," The demon said.
"Sorry Clem, but taking a ride from a stranger…"
"Hey, I understand," Clem said raising his hands. "It just seems a safer option than walking all the way home."
That was true. Aisling contemplated for a moment looked outside at the darkness and sighed. "Yeah just let me call me da' alright? Completely forgot to call, and he's probably worried right now."
Clem took a step back and nodded. "Go ahead. Just want to help."
"Thanks," Aisling said stepping out of Clem's car. Her hands filled with the bags of blood that Willy had prepared for her.
"No problem," Clem said. "Hey, need help carrying them up?"
Aisling shook her head. "No thanks, Clem. I got 'em" She said.
"You sure? Cause I don't mind."
Aisling nodded. "Not my first blood-run Clem," She told him. "I'll be fine going up a few flights of stairs – but thanks for the offer."
"No problem," Clem said. "I'll be going now"
Aisling smiled and closed the door before making her way to the building whistling a merry tune that she'd known before she met Spike.
"Hey Da'" Aisling said entering his room with a couple of thermos's of freshly warmed blood. "How are you doing?"
Spike smiled and reached the thermos. Then frowned. "Loose-Skin? What happened?"
Aisling froze and sighed. She'd forgotten to bathe when she got home. Usually she did right after meeting Angel or other beings she didn't want Dad knowing about but she'd been in such a hurry trying to feed him. She'd just forgotten.
"You remember I had to stop by a demon bar right?" Aisling said. "Well a loose-skin offered me a ride home. Considering I left the DeSoto here and it was night time, where anything could happen... I decided to take him up on it."
"Next time you take the car. I knew you were cutting in close. If it's a couple hours before sunset - you take the car. Especially since I smell vampire Ash on you. That how you lost the blood? You were fighting a vampire and stepped on the blood by accident?"
Aisling looked down at her blood soaked shoes. "Yeah?"
Spike took a sip of blood and looked partially sated and annoyed then he took another drink confused. "Human blood and ... is that Otter?"
Aisling shrugged. "Willy said Otter gives the blood a little kick... I decided to test out the theory. We also have orangutan too."
"How much did it cost you?" Spike asked remembering the credit card he gave her 'for emergencies only'.
"He said it was on the house. A show of good will." Aisling sighed. "Yeah, I know," She stared before Spike could say anything "But we needed the blood."
Spike sighed. "I know, but next time... insist that you pay even if you have to use the card. I can pay off a few debts to the credit card company. Paying off a debt to a demon run establishment? A lot harder."
"I did say that you were known for not attacking demon run establishments - especially if they don't have a 'don't do anything evil or stupid' policy." Aisling said. "So..."
Spike nodded his head. "Good. What was the name of the bar again? So I know not to stir up too much trouble."
"Willy's"
"Huh." Spike said taking another sip. "Blood's good if anything. Maybe I'll check it out."
Hope you enjoyed that. I also wanted to show case a bit more of Aisling's fighting style. It's supposed to be very avoid, evade, and distract. Since she's human killing a vampire is going to be difficult since she can't go toe to toe with the, (She is strong in her own right, she's just not Slayer strong.)
