Chapter 85: The Tale of You and Glimwood Tangle

While Ash was training with Leon, Goh and Chloe reached the Glimwood Tangle. The forest was dark and eerie, with only a few glowing plants to provide light.

"Not exactly the kind of place you'd expect to find a Fairy type, huh?"

"I don't know, I think it's kind of pretty."

Suddenly, Eevee's ears perked up, and before Chloe could hold her back she leapt from Chloe's arms and ran off into the bushes.

"Eevee, come back!"

"Chloe, wait!"

Chloe ran off after her Pokemon, not even caring that she didn't know where she was going. Goh tried to follow her, but quickly got lost.

"I hope Chloe knows what she's doing…"

Chloe panted, but she kept going. At last, Eevee stopped in a clearing and it was clear why. There, lying on the ground in front of them, was a Ponyta like the one in Chloe's book. The poor Pokemon was on the ground, covered in scratches and struggling to move.

"Oh dear, you poor thing!"

Chloe put her hand to Ponyta's forehead, only to find it burning hot. Knowing what she had to do, she took out a Pokeball and released her Yamper.

"Yamper, this Ponyta is seriously hurt and needs our help. Do you think you can locate its parents? Maybe they can lead us to Ballonlea and a Pokemon Center."

Yamper barked affirmatively, sniffing the Ponyta all over to get her parents' scent before heading off. Chloe took off her backpack and took out some potions before spraying Ponya. Ponyta whimpered slightly, but her fever did start to go down.

"Don't worry Ponyta, you'll be alright."

Meanwhile, Goh was still trying to find Chloe. At first he tried following the direction she ran off in, but that just made him even more lost. He tried sending Scyther out to fly up and spot her, but that did him no good.

"Chloe, where are you?!"

"Excuse me, young man, but are you lost?"

Goh looked up, surprised to see the Gym Leader Opal standing in front of him.

"Kind of. I'm looking for my girlfriend. She's got maroon hair in a ponytail, she wears a white school uniform, and she was chasing her Eevee."

Opal stroking her chin in thought.

"Well, I'm sorry to say that I haven't seen anyone fitting that description. But don't worry, the fairy types in the forest are very helpful. She'll be just fine."

Goh breathed a sigh of relief.

"Come on, why don't I take you to the gym? You can wait for her there."

"Are you sure? What if she comes back?"

"I'll have some of my Fairy Friends keep an eye out for her. Don't worry, they'll find her."

Back with Chloe, she was mashing up some berries to make a balm for the Ponyta. Her fever had gone down, but she still couldn't move on her own.

"Don't worry girl, Yamper will be back soon."

No sooner had she said that did Yamper burst through the brush, a Galarian Rapidash following behind him. Chloe smiled, and scratched her Yamper's ear.

"Good boy!"

"Yamp!"

Upon seeing her daughter in pain, the Rapidash gently nudged Chloe aside with her hoof and trotted over. Bending down, she sent soothing waves of energy from her horn into her daughter. After a minute she stopped. The Ponya slowly got to her hooves, good as new. After that, she ran over to Chloe and nudged her head against her chest, making the girl smile.

"Ah, you're welcome! Now I just need to find my friend…woah!"

Before Chloe could react, she was lifted up into the air with psychic powers and placed on Ponytay's back, Eevee and Yamper hitching a ride on the Rapidash. Once everyone was secure, the two took off.

Back in Ballonlea, Goh was anxiously pacing around outside the Pokemon Center. Opal, much more calm, was sipping tea in a rocking chair.

"Would you stop that? I can't hear myself think over that racket."

"She should've been back by now! What is she's lost, or hurt, or…"

With an annoyed sigh, Opal sat up.

"I have an idea, why don't we play a game? Perhaps that'll take your mind off of things."

"What kind of game?"

"Its simple: I ask a question about myself, and you try to guess the correct answer."

"That doesn't seem like-"

"Question 1: What is my nickname? The Wizard, or the magic user?"

"Um…the wizard?"

"Correct! Question 2: What is my favorite color? Is it purple, or pink?"

Goh was much more confident in this answer. After all, her dress was nothing but…

"Pink!"

"Sorry, but that's incorrect. It's fine enough, but I prefer to see it in other people, not so much myself. Purple is a much more refined color."

"What?"

"Question 3: How old am I? 16, 88?"

"Oh, that's easy! 88!"

That earned him a hard whack on the head.

"Hey, what gives?"

"Technically, you are correct. But you could be more tactful about it."

Goh just grumbled, rubbing his head.

"Question number 4: who is about to walk up behind us?"

Before Goh could answer, he heard a heavenly voice from behind him.

"Goh!"

"Chloe!"

Sure enough, Chloe was right behind him, climbing down from Ponyta. Goh quickly rushed over to her, and gave her a great big hug.

"Are you alright? I was so worried!"

"This Ponyta was hurt, so I helped her. They gave me a ride out of the forest as thanks."

"Well, we should get going. We need to meet Ash and Lillie back on the Isle of Armor to catch the next ferry home."

Just as the two of them were about to leave, Ponyta rushed over to them, nudging one of the Pokeballs on Chloe's belt.

"Are you saying you want to travel with me?"

Ponyta nodded. Chloe looked toward Ponyta's mother.

"Are you ok with this?"

Rapidash nodded. With a big smile, Chloe took out an empty Pokeball and touched Ponyta's horn.

"Welcome to the team!"

The Pokeball clicked instantly, confirming the capture. With a proud smile, Chloe held the Pokeball up high.

"Alright, I just caught a Ponyta!"

"Eevee!"

"Yamp Yamper!"

And so, with a new friend in tow, Chloe and Goh headed for home.
