After calling the Beowolves and seer awake and sending them back to sleep, Kuro chuckled mischievously. "Town, wake up."
"Am I dead yet...?" Aero quietly asked as she shifted around.
"You are not." Kuro pointed at her before taking a small step away. "And I have a story to tell all of you. The town of Pumpernickel had quite an eventful night. It started out quite peaceful. A time for family bonding. My sweet, sweet sisters were out watching a movie and getting to know each other better." He paused for a moment and lowered his head with a sigh. "But sadly... their night was sent into chaos."
"Oh no, I'm dead." With a small smile, Kagami rolled her eyes and shook her head. "How terrible."
"I didn't say that." Her brother smiled. "During their bonding time, another pair of family members were out. Eleanor an Elise." He gestured at both Spruces. "They were both found brutally mauled to death by none other than the Beowolves terrorizing the town. If I was one of the townsfolk, I'd highly recommend finding at least one of them before they strike again."
"So who are we voting out then?" Baren asked as she fixed Aero's glasses for her once again.
Glancing at the four remaining players, Kris crossed arms and narrowed her eyes. "Well, if I'm being honest, I'm going to nominate you."
Raising an eyebrow, the pinkette eyed her. "And why's that?"
"One." She pointed at Aero. "I don't even think she could spell her name. She couldn't be a Beowolf. And second." She pointed at Kagami. "She doesn't have the irony to kill both Elise and her mom. So I'm nominating you."
"I agree..." Aero raised a hand and waved it slightly. She then jumped and yelped, her glasses being flicked off her face. "Eep! I'm blind!"
Giggling quietly at her, Gurin nodded to her brother. "I'll vote for her too."
Blinking a few times, Kagami eyed her mentor for a moment before looking at her brother. "Can I choose not to vote?"
"Sure." He shrugged.
"Good." She nodded while looking away.
"Okay well, Baren has been killed on suspicion charges." Kuro moved his hands behind his back. "Hopefully tonight the town will rest easier because of this. For now, everyone alive, go back to sleep." As Kris, Kagami, Gurin and Aero closed their eyes, he called the Beowolves awake.
As this happened, Elise let out a sharp and annoyed gasp. "Oh you've got to be kidding me, you mother fu..." She trailed off as her mother's gaze met her. "...dging apple jacks freak biscuits. Ugh!" She groaned.
Chucking, the dark haired boy crossed his arms. "Who do you want to kill?" There was a pause. "Beowolves, go to sleep. Seer, wake up." Another pause. "Seer, go to sleep. Town, wake up." As the four lifted their heads, he smiled and began to walk around again. "To much of the town's rejoice, it seems a Beowolf was killed yesterday. Only one murder has been reported. But sadly, it was a legendary and honorary town drunk." He gestured towards Aero.
"Woo... I'm deeeaaad..." The bluette waved her arms around.
"If I can say something." Kris raised her hand before looking over. "We need to vote Gurin out." She stated bluntly.
"Huh?" Kagami glanced at her.
"We need to vote her out." She repeated.
"Why?" Her head tilted as she grinned a little. "Are you trying to blame my little sister?"
"What? No. No!" The redhead groaned. "Kagami. I'm the seer. I know she's the last Beowolf. I knew Baren was a Beowolf!"
"That sounds an awful lot like something the Beowolf would say." She crossed her arms. "I think I'm voting for you."
"Me too." Gurin added.
"What? What!?" Kris rapidly looked around. "Kagami! I know it's her!" Her voice rose. "I'm the seer!"
"Sure." She nodded back.
"Well... that's a vote of two to one." Kuro looked between the three of them. "Kris, you've been run out of town. And you've met your demise in the ruined lands outside of Pumpernickel. It's so horrible." He shook his head. "I'm so sorry. But anyway! Town, go to sleep." As the two sisters lowered their heads, he smiled from ear to ear. "Beowolf, wake up."
As he said this, Kris let out a very frustrated scream.
Chuckling, he eyed her before looking away. "Who do you want to kill? Okay." He nodded. "Beowolf, go to sleep. Town, wake up."
Raising her head, Kagami smiled as she eyed her sister. Oh she knew exactly what she had done. Smiling more, she looked up at her older brother.
"Okay, well." Blinking, Kuro placed his hands together. "What a strange tale of events has conspired." He shook his head with a chuckle. "Last night, the sole remaining Beowolf stalked its last prey. But what it didn't know was that Kagami wasn't just a normal villager. Oh no, she was a well trained Huntsman. And as the beast attacked her, she made sure to take its life in return." He took a very deep breath. "Sadly, she was the last villager. There is no one left in the town. Only a handful of corpses and the eerie mist of decaying Grimm."
With a smile, he then bowed his head while holding out his arms. "And that is game." He lifted his head. "Who wants to play again?"
"No!" Kris snapped with an annoyed look.
Chuckling quietly, Kagami looked over at her sister. "Nice job."
"Would have been nicer if I actually won." She pouted a bit. "I was so close."
"True, but we annoyed my friend." She nudged her sister. "A lot." She eyed the redhead who was grumbling as she handed back her seer card to Kuro.
"Kagami!" Aza's voice rumbled as he shouted from the kitchen.
"Coming!" She quickly called back while pushing herself to her feet.
In the kitchen, Aza had eleven plates set up on the counter. With a scoop of rice on each of them, he gently ladled a hefty serving of curry on top. "You can start bringing these out to everyone." He spoke up as he heard footsteps.
Stepping in, Kagami's nose twitched at the smell of the freshly made food. "That's... that smells really, really good." She stepped up beside him.
"As it should." He gave a nod. "The meat should melt like butter in your mouth."
The meat. Meat. Blinking, the jadette's eyes grew wide. Slowly looking over, she eyed the chef's outfit her father still had on before looking at the neatly plated dishes. Gulping a little, she fiddled her fingers together. "Um, hey... dad." She paused before looking up. "One of my friends is actually, um, vegetarian."
He very slowly turned his head to look at her. After staring for a moment, he snapped his head away and stepped over towards the fridge. "Shit. Alright, give me a minute." He quickly began to scan through everything inside. After a moment, he quickly grabbed a box of shiitake mushrooms, chives and a zucchini. "Perfect." Stepping aside, he grabbed a bowl and placed the zucchini and chives along with a few mushrooms inside it.
"Um, dad?" With a bewildered look, Kagami slowly tilted her head. "Um...?"
"Shh, shh, I'm thinking." He waved her off before rummaging through the cabinets. Grabbing two packages, one of dried fish flakes and the other of dried kelp, he put a bit of both inside the bowl as well.
"Dad...?" Beyond being confused at this point, she watched as he grabbed a cup and filled it with water before pouring some into the bowl as well.
Ignoring her, Aza stared at the bowl and everything inside it. Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes as if he was envisioning something. After a moment, he sharply exhaled while tapping the side of the bowl.
In a small poof, a cloud surrounded the bowl before dissapaiting. As it did, it revealed a perfect bowl of dashi broth with zucchini noodles, sliced mushrooms and chives.
Grabbing it, he handed it to his daughter. "Here. You can take this to her." He gave a nod.
Blinking rapidly, she stared at the picture worthy bowl and the food inside it. "Wh-What just..." She trailed off. "N-Never mind." She stuttered before carefully turning around and walking out. She'd rather not question it.
With the six adults eating at the table, team MACE along with Gurin crowded around the coffee table while sitting on the floor. Watching Baren talk to the others with a familiar look, Kris tilted her head slightly. "I feel... like there is something we're missing." She mumbled.
Noticing what she was looking at, Cheyenne choked on the bite of food she was eating.
"Whoa, whoa, careful." Elise quickly reached out to pat her back. Her plate of curry was already empty. "What happened?"
Waving her hand, the Faunus set her dinner down while catching her breath. "Baren..." She coughed a bit. "At the restaurant I realized something about Baren." She eyed her leader. "I think she trained your mother too."
"Huh?" She quietly let out.
"Well yeah." The younger jadette looked between the team. "Did you not know that? Mom's mentioned her a few times before."
"Wait what!?" Kris raised her voice with wide eyes.
"Yeah." Gurin slowly nodded while looking at the older girls like they were dumb. "Did you not know?"
Blinking rapidly, Kagami stared at her sister for a moment before setting her food aside and standing. While Elise snatched her plate, she made her way over to the table. It did make sense if she thought about it. She just never thought about it until now. Taking a deep breath as she came up to the table, she crossed her arms while narrowing her eyes at her mentor.
Noticing the look, Baren flashed a playful grin. "Yes?" She leaned back.
"Did you teach my mom to fight?" She bluntly asked.
Raising an eyebrow, she then nodded. "Yes."
Across the room, Kris let out a loud audible sound of frustration.
"You never told her you basically mentored our team?" Eleanor eyed the one armed warrior.
Blinking a few times, Midori did the same before eventually turning her head to Kagami. "Did you ever ask her?" Seeing her shake her head no, she sighed and lowered her head. "Of course... and of course she wouldn't tell you without you asking."
"That is true." Baren nodded with a smug look. "She never did ask why I didn't hand her over to authorities and basically kidnapped her in the middle of the woods. She was content with it."
"That's not..." Kagami tried to protest only to grow quiet. It was true. Taking a deep breath, she reached up to rub her forehead. "Okay. Okay." She lowered her arms. "I only have part of this timeline of events. Can someone fill me in on what I don't know?"
"Well what do you know?" Aza asked while calmly eating.
"I told her how we were a team and why we disbanded..." Aero lightly waved her hand while laying her head on the table. She looked exhausted and tired now.
"I explained the tragedy of my team." Baren rested her arm across her chest. "That's it."
Blinking, Midori let out a deep sigh as she rubbed her face. "I really can't believe this." She took a deep breath. "Well since no one else cared to explain the middle part, I'll do so now. It's not like it was important or anything." She rolled her eyes.
