"So..." Early the following morning, Kuro sat at the table still lost from the night before. He had just woken up and was still visibly tired. He was even still in his sleepwear. All he had on was tight black boxer briefs and a pair of black socks. His feet got cold easily. "I didn't dream that whole conversation we had?" He tilted his head while pulling a box of cold pizza towards himself.
"No. You didn't." Kagami took a deep breath with her hands folded. "One of my ancestors has been alive for thousands of years and has been hunting my bloodline."
Blinking, he stared for a moment before grabbing a slice of pizza. "Cool." He smiled while pointing with the slice. "That's super cool. That's definitely main character material right there."
Staring at him, she exhaled then let her head drop onto the table with a groan.
On the far side of the table, Kris and Elise sat quietly by themselves. Both of them were staring at the well built nerd.
"Okay... he might actually be really hot." Elise softly whispered.
"Oh no, I called dibs first." Kris shot her a glare before quickly looking back at him. "I just wish he wasn't such a loser..."
"Or if he liked being outside in a forest instead of... whatever it is he likes." She breathed out.
With a small gasp, the redhead whipped her head around and smacked her on the arm.
"Hey! What was that for??" She frowned while rubbing her arm.
"I just had the best idea. I can make his little dungeon figures come to life." She began to grin devilishly. "If they're doing a fight I can have the figures actually fight. Do you think he'd notice me then?"
"That's," The brunet blinked while holding up a hand. "Okay that's actually really smart, especially coming from you."
"But do you think it would work??" Reaching out, she grabbed her shoulders and shook her around.
"I uh... I dunno..." Elise mumbled with swirls for eyes.
Watching the two of them, Kuro took a bite from his pizza. "Your friends are weird." He said after swallowing.
"Yeah... yeah, I know." Kagami immediately agreed while watching them as well.
In the kitchen, Cheyenne bit her lip while holding her arms out. "Are you sure this is safe? Shouldn't we wait for your parents to wake up?"
"They never sleep in." Gurin said while standing on the countertop so she was tall enough to look through the cabinets. "I don't want to wake them. They're always making me breakfast. I'm going to make them breakfast."
"Okay but be careful." She let out a shaky breath and stepped to the side as the little girl walked over. "What are you even wanting to make?"
"Pancakes!" She cheered while grabbing a large glass mixing bowl. Blinking out of existence, she reappeared standing on the floor. "Dad has a really nice recipe. Um..." She glanced at the stove. "Can you help me with that? I'm not allowed to use it without an adult..."
Smiling, the Faunus softly exhaled. "Yeah. I'll help. I'd be happy to help."
Hearing the front door unlock, Kagami nearly jumped as she quickly twisted around to look.
Opening the front door, Baren froze in place at the sight of the four people at the table. "Why are you awake?" She suddenly and sharply asked.
"Gurin woke us all up." The jadette pointed towards the kitchen. "Why... are you out of your room?"
"None of your business." She quickly said while narrowing her eyes.
"Hello! It's me again!" Hisato hummed while leaning through the door opening. He was wearing his mailman uniform. "We went on a walk before I headed to work."
Deadpanning, the one armed warrior reached up and shoved him aside. Stepping into the home, she quickly closed the door behind her. "Not a word." She kept eye contact with Kagami as she walked through the house towards the bedrooms. "Not a single word."
Waiting until she heard a door close, Kagami grinned from ear to ear. "Do you know what just happened?" She looked at her friends.
"I think I do." Elise softly chuckled. "Oh this is going to be great. And adorable. And cute. And every other word!" She excitedly bounced her legs.
Later that day, everyone was crammed into the living room. Sighing a bit, Midori leaned over onto her husband. "Why are we letting him choose the next movie?" She eyed him.
"Do you see anyone else choosing it?" Aza shrugged a bit.
"No but..." She exhaled in defeat. Reaching forward, she grabbed a pancake from a large plate full of them. "Alright."
Groaning quietly as she laid with her face on the floor, Elise shifted around. "I... don't think I can eat anymore. I'm going to vomit."
Kagami smiled at her before looking at her sister. "You should be proud. I don't think I've ever seen her stop eating before. I can't believe you made so many pancakes."
"Well I wanted to make sure everyone had enough." Gurin poked her fingers.
"And I'm... not done eating..." The brunet protested while only moving her arm. Grabbing another pancake, she brought it down towards her face. Her arm gave off a thud as it hit the floor.
Standing by Kuro, Kris tilted her head as he rummaged through a box. "You have a lot of movies."
"Well a lot of them are old." He pulled up a case. The cover was in black and white and of an old man with long hair. "This is one of my favorites. It's Professor What."
"What?" She blinked.
He grinned and gestured with the case. "Exactly." He put it back inside the box then pulled out another movie. "This one isn't as old, but still cool. It came out during the Great War. It's about a guy from Atlas who was too scrawny to join the military and ended up becoming a super Huntsman."
"Uh huh..." She nodded slowly.
"Hm." Dropping it back inside the box, he went back to looking. "Let's see, oh! Mom loves this series."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, I love what?" Midori sat up.
"You know it, and we all love it." Kuro grinned while spinning a case on his fingers. "It's the best magical girl series in all of Remnant!" Spinning around, he dropped his body down low while holding his arms out in a pose. "Rainbow Time Dancers!"
"Oh bloody hell..." Aza rolled his eyes.
Kris nearly choked. At least they had something in common. Sort of.
Half laughing, Eleanor eyed her friend. "You like that? I gave the books to Elise when she was a little girl."
With the heat rising to her face, Midori quickly stood. "Listen." She huffed while walking over towards her son. Snatching the DVD with one hand, she smacked him in the back of the head with the other. "They have very well thought out clothing designs. And the lessons they learn are wonderful." She pushed the case back inside the box. Grabbing another movie at random, she shoved it into her son's chest. "We're watching this."
"Slay Jay?" Kuro raised an eyebrow at the female Huntress in yellow on the cover. "Mom, I don't think Gurin-"
"I don't care! The decision is made. No more looking through that box." She sat back down with crossed arms.
"I mean, okay." He shrugged while eyeing his youngest sister. "We watched it before anyway. Don't spoil it for anyone." He winked.
Smiling, Gurin acted as if she was zipping her mouth shut.
"What's Slay Jay?" Kagami leaned over towards her.
"Uh..." She blinked while trying to think of what to say without giving anything away.
"The main character promises revenge on a Huntsman named Jay who sent other Huntsmen to kill her." Aero leaned forward with a raised hand. As the other adults in the room eyed her, she shrugged. "What? It's a classic."
"Thank you!" Kuro waved his hands.
"Maybe we shouldn't have Gurin watch that then." Aza rubbed the back of his head.
"Wait a minute." Midori waved her hands. "You two watched it?!" She raised her voice while looking between Gurin and Kuro.
"Uh..." The boy gulped. Quickly digging through the box again, he pulled out a movie called Grimm-Man. "Why don't we watch this! It's about a Huntsman who gains the abilities of Grimm after being attacked by one! Very family friendly!"
Shaking her head, Cheyenne smiled as a small argument erupted. It wasn't anything bad, it was just your typical family disagreement. Looking over, she raised an eyebrow at Baren who was closely watching the front door from the corner of her eyes.
The Faunus smiled more when she checked the time. It was nearing the end of the day. The mail was going to be here soon.
"Oi!" Aza raised his voice louder than everyone in the room combined. "All of you shut up!"
Everyone went silent. No one even moved until Elise slowly pulled another pancake down to her mouth.
Sighing, Kuro went back to looking for a movie. "Well what do you guys want to watch then?"
"Do you have any romantic movies?" Kris grinned while leaning over the box.
"Ew, no. Lame." He shook his head.
She sighed and slouched at that.
Suddenly, Baren jerked her body up to one knee. Her eyes locked on a window.
"Baren-Sama?" Aero raised an eyebrow. "Are you okay?"
"Did you feel that?" She breathed out while keeping her hand flat on the floor.
"Feel what?" Midori was very hesitant to ask.
Before she could reply, a large rumble shook the entire house.
"Earthquake?!" Kuro's eyes widened as he braced himself. "No! Bedroom! My figures!"
Steadying herself as well, Kris took a few deep breaths as the power suddenly shut off. The second it did, the ground stopped shaking. "What... was that?" She glanced around.
"I don't know." Kagami pushed herself up. Stepping up towards a window, she looked out. "The entire city is dark too." She eyed the sky that was changing its daylight colors to nighttime colors. In the distance, there was a very small trail of smoke and all the birds were flying away. Flying away fast. The city looked abandoned now. The only lights that were on were the dull headlights from cars.
After a few seconds, red emergency lights turned on throughout the city streets and in some larger buildings. This was followed by a broadcast that echoed throughout the city.
"People of Vytal, there's no cause for alarm." A man announced. "A Dust power plant on the west coast had a meltdown. It has exploded. Power is being redirected towards the south side and will be restored shortly. Please remain calm and only go outside if you must. We are asking for everyone to remain indoors until power is restored. For your safety."
Another low rumble shook all of Vytal once again.
Baring her teeth, Baren rose to her feet. "Kagami. Step away."
Noticing the tone in her voice, the jadette immediately did so.
"What is it?" Gurin partially smiled. "Why did the power go out?"
"That man isn't lying." The pinkette glanced outside the windows and narrowed her eyes. "He spoke the truth. But there's something else out there. Something..." She clenched her jaw and swallowed hard. There was another rumble. This one felt closer.
"Okay, okay. I'm not liking this." Kris waved her hands. "And the power being out is definitely NOT helping."
"Elise... get up." Cheyenne let out a shaky breath while shaking the brunet's shoulder.
"Ugh. Can the apocalypse happen when I'm not fat." She huffed while pushing herself up.
"Elise!" Eleanor snapped.
Feeling another rumble, Midori felt her heart sink and her stomach twist. "Baren..."
Suddenly, the old warrior's eyes grew wide. Taking several steps away from the window, her shoulders dropped.
"Baren-Sama?" Aero's voice trembled from the terrified expression on the pinkette's face.
"Baren?" Kagami stepped up beside her as more rumbling could be felt. When the one armed woman didn't answer, she stepped up to the window again and froze.
"Kagami?" Kris stepped back. "What is it?" She honestly didn't want to know the answer.
Biting her lip, Gurin pushed herself up and walked over beside her sister. Staring across the city, her shoulders fell. "It's..."
"It's a Leviathan." Baren finished for her.
"And it's not just an Alpha..." Kagami reached down to grab her sister's hand. "It's..."
Standing just as tall as the tallest buildings, the Leviathan slowly walked through the ocean. As it came closer to the shore, it only grew taller and taller. Its entire body was encased with white Grimm armor that had turned dark from eons under the ocean floor. The spikes on its back were glowing blue and by the looks of it, Dust infused. And its eyes were a dark terrifying illuminating red.
"It's like..." Kagami held her sister's hand even tighter.
"The King of Grimm..." The young girl squeezed back.
