Tommy closed his eyes as he heard her finally settle. He had been talking to her for hours. Sam or Dean would shove something in front of him to either eat or drink, but he had long lost track of who was actually with him. He knew her nightmares were worse when something like this happened, he just thought they might have gotten lucky this time as it didn't happen on the first few nights. From the little bit Bobby told him, she had known it was going to happen tonight. She had known it was going to happen because he wasn't there. Apparently the whiskey had only brought her powers down enough to not destroy Bobby's house and it was barely holding at that level.
"Tom-my," Kim whimpered. He waited for a moment to see what was happening, hoping that she had worn herself out. "Tommy?"
"I'm here," Tommy forced out as he heard her crawling towards the phone. Her body had to be battered after this nightmare hellscape. It had been every time it got this bad in the past. They'd learned to short circuit it over the years, but that hadn't been a possibility today. He had to be there to short circuit it from everything they had learned over the years.
"Need you," Kim whispered as he looked up to see that Dean was watching him. He wished he could have this conversation in private, but that wasn't going to be possible either. He was sure that her screams had kept the Winchesters up, even if they were functioning better than he was.
"I know. It's going to be a few days. I've given Bobby some other stuff to go get that'll help short circuit them until I get back," Tommy said as he heard her whimper again and he closed his eyes. It was like he could feel her pain and he would do anything to take that away. The only way he could do that though- was if he was with her. He knew that he couldn't ask the Winchesters to leave this case, there were people that would die if they didn't do their job. "Kim- what was it this time?"
"Need you," Kim groaned as he gripped the chair he was in as he fought down the urge to get to her. He knew then that something was different about how their relationship worked in this universe. It wasn't the first time this had happened, but the pain he felt this time let him know they may have made a huge mistake separating.
"I'll be home soon, try to get some sleep," Tommy forced out as he heard various beeps and figured she must have been trying to get closer to his voice.
"Come home. Love you," Kim breathed out as Tommy heard a slight snore.
"Love you too," Tommy hung up as he finally looked at the time and realized that he had been up with her all night. He hoped that Sam and Dean had gotten some sort of rest. He had purposefully kept the phone off speakerphone, but they could definitely still hear her screams. "Sorry about that."
"Something's different here, isn't it?" Dean asked as Tommy nodded as he stood up and rubbed his thighs before shaking out his hands. If he didn't know better- he would say he was going through some kind of withdrawal. He felt the light sheen of sweat over his body and his hands shook as he tried to bring a bottle up to his lips. "Sammy's out doing interviews. I've got to hit the coroner's office- think you can stay here and get some rest without having a similar episode?"
"I'm already living my worst nightmare, Dean. I'll be able to rest just fine," Tommy said as Dean nodded, grabbed his keys, and then disappeared. Tommy fell into the first bed he came to and quickly went to sleep. He was exhausted in more ways than he wanted to admit. How could he even be helpful to them if he wasn't able to pull one all nighter?
"Shikigami? Sam- this isn't Japan," Dean said as Sam turned his computer towards him and pointed at the lore. Dean read over Sam's research. Everything matched up, except the location. The location made absolutely no sense.
"The Power Rangers- a lot of the lore that went along with that was from Japan," Sam said as Dean jerked his head up to look at him. Power Rangers were not real in this world, therefore their lore should not matter. "There's a chance things are going to get weirder on the monster front with the two of them coming in."
"We'll call Bobby- give him a heads up. He might have some idea of what can kill it," Dean said as Sam quietly ate his lunch. "What is it?"
"Did she ever stop screaming?" Sam asked as Dean let out a sigh. Although the both of them had managed to get some sleep, they had been woken up multiple times by her screams. "What?"
"She finally came out of it but she still…he said something is different in this world. He looked like hell Sam and I know- he listened to the woman he loves scream for 12+ hours, but it wasn't that. He just looked bad," Dean said as he smiled at the waitress and she winked as she walked by. "And then there's that."
"Dude- bad idea. Really bad idea," Sam said as his phone rang and he took a moment to see that the caller was unknown. "Hello?"
"Sam?" Kim whispered as she looked over at Bobby to check that he was still out. Something had attacked them and she had been able to fight it off, with no injuries, but Bobby hadn't been as lucky. While Bobby was a skilled fighter, he didn't have a blaster that he could summon at will to shoot anything that came at him. "Where's Tommy?"
"He's sleeping," Sam said as he motioned to Dean to pay and he started moving towards the door. "You should be passed out."
"I was until something came in, charged Bobby, and I had to fight it off. My blaster took it out, but Bobby is passed out and when I tried to get Tommy on his communicator it didn't…he didn't answer," Kim said as she heard a creak in the floor and she slowly turned around. She saw another Shikigami eying her up and she let out a groan. She desperately needed Tommy, but until he got back to her- she could do this all day. "Gotta go, Sam. Find Tommy."
"What was that?" Dean asked as Sam stared at his phone for a bit and then looked over at Dean. "What?"
"There's something at Bobby's and it took him out, but she's standing her own. Tommy didn't pick up when she called," Sam said and Dean let out a groan. He hoped that Tommy was just so exhausted that he'd slept through her call. "Yeah. I'm doubling down on the Shikigami being because of them."
"Why not go straight for them?" Dean asked as they jumped into the impala and he sped off towards the hotel.
"No idea, but I think we know one thing for sure. No more splitting them up," Sam said as Dean nodded. They had suspected that it wasn't wise to do this, but this was a routine hunt and they needed to see what this would do to them. "That's not good."
The door to their hotel room hung off the hinges and Dean cursed as Sam jumped out of the car and ran to check on what was left in the room. He wasn't surprised to see that Tommy had taken out several Shikigami, but obviously that he had been ambushed and then quickly overwhelmed.
"Where's the girl?" Dean asked as Sam continued to check the damage and he looked back at him. Dean pointed at the wall and Sam let out a sigh. "I'm assuming that means Kimberly."
"Dean…did he have one of your cells?" Sam asked and Dean nodded before he went to look in his glove box to figure out which one he had leant out. "We can track him."
"Yeah, but what are we going to do when we get to him? We can't take out this many Shikigami- there's not enough anointed swords and goats blood in the world for this," Dean muttered as he passed Sam the number and he grabbed his laptop before they bolted from the room. They'd rather let the staff think that something had happened to them. "What was at Bobby's?"
"No idea. Let's just assume she's holding her own until we find out she's not."
