Zuko watched the sky bison fly off from his office window. He wasn't really sad to see Aang go. He would miss his friend, but he wouldn't miss Aang's treatment of Katara. He had really wanted to just punch Aang at breakfast. Seeing Katara's face go white at Aang's outrage brought out his protective nature for his child and its mother. It had taken all of his control, not lashing out at Aang.

A knock on his office interrupted his thoughts. Zuko called for the person to enter. His hope of it being Katara on the other side of the door was fulfilled when she entered the room.

"Is he gone?" She questioned when she spotted him standing by the window. Zuko just nodded and held out his hand to her. She went to him without hesitation.

"Are you all right? You were really pale when you left the dining room."

"Yes, I am fine. Toph and Suki checked up on me. Suki now knows everything by the way but promised to not tell Sokka anything until we give the go-ahead."

"I'm not ready for that disaster." Zuko replied.

"I agree. Everything has happened so quickly. I need some time to let things settle."

For the next few weeks, things did settle down. Katara was able to make peace with her feelings towards Aang and enjoy her new relationship with Zuko.

They spent as much time together as they could. Katara was trying to learn her future role as Fire Lady. Zuko could easily see her in the role and was quickly learning to rely on her help. Suki and Toph were glad to see their friends happy in their relationship.

Sokka started to notice the slight changes in the relationship between his sister and her good friend. He also noticed Katara's eating habits had seemed to change as well. She was eating like a bird when he had seen her put away a lot of food at times in the past. One night, he decided to ask Suki if she had noticed anything strange with Katara or Zuko. They were in their room, getting ready for bed.

"Suki, have you seen anything odd going on with Katara or Zuko?"

"Odd how?" Suki was genuinely confused. Of course, Zuko and Katara had been spending more time together, but nothing was odd about their behavior.

"Well, they are spending more time with each other. Katara is now eating like a bird and seems to be resting more."

"Ah." Suki bit her lip as she tried to think of a response. "I think you are just overthinking things, Sokka. Perhaps Zuko and Katara are just getting to know each other better. As for Katara's eating, she isn't using as much energy as she used to." Sokka nodded at her response but rubbed his chin in concentration.

"Maybe, but something still seems to be going on."

Suki silently panicked at Sokka's insistence that something was going on. She knew that neither Katara nor Zuko were ready to go public with their relationship or pregnancy. Suki had even kept herself from mentioning going home to Sokka to avoid him asking about Katara going home as well. She knew she was going to have to speak to Katara in the morning.

Suki cornered Katara before breakfast the next morning in the library, where she knew that they wouldn't be overheard that early in the day.

"Suki, what is going on?"

"I need to talk to you." Suki replied seriously, pulling Katara towards some chairs.

"What has Sokka done now?" Katara asked in exasperation.

"He is starting to ask questions about how much time you and Zuko are spending together. He is also noticing the change in your eating habits. I don't think he would ever jump to the conclusion that you are pregnant, but he is suspecting that something is up." Suki explained. Katara sighed.

"I was beginning to wonder when he would start to see the changes. I will need to talk to Zuko about this. It sounds like we will have to announce my pregnancy sooner than we wanted."

"That is why I wanted to speak to you before Sokka becomes more curious. I didn't want him guessing the truth and throwing a fit." Suki replied. Katara nodded in agreement. Katara thanked Suki, sighed again, and headed for Zuko's office.

Katara heard Zuko sigh as she closed the door to his study. He has seen Katara biting her lip as she has entered the room. That usually meant that something was wrong. She slumped down into one of the chairs and looked sadly at her love.

Well?" Zuko asked, rising an eyebrow.

Well, our bubble is about to be popped. Suki just informed me that Sokka is asking questions about our behavior. She thinks he might start putting things together. At least about us being more than friends." Katara explained sadly.

"It doesn't surpirse me. Sokka isn't as dumb as he acts most of the time." Zuko replied. "What should we do? Tell just your brother for now or just announce our engagement and pregnancy?"

"Have you happened to speak to the fire sages about this yet?" Katara asked instead.

"Not yet. I was going to bring it up at this afternoon's meeting. Perhaps you should join us." Zuko answered.

"Is that allowed?"

"Normally, the Fire Lady is just basically a breeder and an ornament, but as you have seen in the past few weeks, I need your help in this job."

Katara had been advising and helping Zuko where she could almost since the beginning of his reign. Within a few days, Zuko had come to rely heavily on her.

"Well, that is a good thing because as much as I am looking forward to becoming a mother, I want to do more than that. It's actually been fulfilling helping you put things right." Katara responded with a small smile. "I do believe we can actually do some good. Hopefully, the fire sages think the same way." Zuko just smiled back, hoping so she was right.
