I've never realized how short life could be until my near death experiences. I've never considered how death could be peaceful and inviting. Death felt like a friend giving you a hug to let you know that everything will be ok. To summarize it all, death is peaceful and sweet.
Beep...beep...
Oxygen filling my lungs started to give me a purpose to move. I was in that welcoming blanket when I was suddenly ripped out of it's confines. The numbness overcoming my body soon melted into a dull pain.
Feeling in my fingers started to appear, which made them start to move. Slowly I found my eyes starting to respond to an unanswered question. I soon found myself blinking at a bright light that was overcoming me.
Looking around the room and letting out a quiet groan let the people in the room know that I was finally awake.
The first person that was in my line of sight was Rosalie. She looked to be a wreck while still looking beautiful.
"Oh my god. Thank god your ok." A small smile appeared on my face.
"Hi Rosie posie." Her bell like laughter enveloped the room at the mention of my childhood nickname for her.
I stared at everyone that surrounded me. "Bella?" Rosalie soon held a face of anguish and anger.
"She's in another room. She has a broken leg and cracked ribs. It would have been a lot worse if you didn't get there at the time that you did." Carlisle chimed in so Rosalie wouldn't say anything drastic. "You are grounded by the way. For sneaking out and not to mention almost getting killed." Carlisle had a firm tone but his face was calm and understanding.
All I did was nod. I figured I would be punished for sneaking away from Alice and Jasper. "Where's Edward? I would like to talk to him." My question was answered right after it left my lips. I guess Alice slipped out to let Edward know I was awake.
Rosalie squeezed my hand a little. "We will be outside. Call if you need anything." I nodded my head and watched everyone except Edward leave the room.
"Hey." I said while turning my head to take in Edward's appearance. He looked like he hasn't fed in days. Probably because he hasn't.
Edward responded with a chuckle. "Hey yourself." He pulls up a chair and takes my hand in his. "You had me so worried. Why did you do it?"
Another sigh escaped my lips. "I couldn't let Bella get injured or killed. She means a lot to our family...to you."
"Have you not even considered that you mean a lot to our family too? I know Rosalie cares more about you than she does for Bella. I love Bella yes, but I love you the same as well. Well not in the same way of course." I laughed at his little slip up.
"I know. It was stupid and reckless, but I thought in the moment it was a good idea."
"It was completely stupid and reckless. But I understand why you did it though."
"James?" I pretty much knew what had happened to him, but needed confirmation from Edward.
"He's dead. We were able to kill him, but only after he bit you."
"Why did you save me? I know me being a vampire isn't on your mind at the moment. But wouldn't it have been easier to have just let me turn?" Edward shakes his head while giving me a sympathetic smile.
"It wasn't the right time. We have thought about it. Though some of us would rather you stay human forever."
"You and Rosalie correct?"
"Jasper has voiced his opinions on the matter also." I just nodded my head.
"Alright. What's the story? I can't just tell people that a vampire almost killed me." Edward chuckled while brushing hair out of my eyes.
"The story is that Bella left and we went to go talk to her. To reason with her, to come back to Forks. You were waiting at the top of the stairs for her at the hotel we were staying at. We told people that once Bella got to you, she tripped and accidentally took you down the stairs with her. You both fell out of a window, but you took the most damage."
"Ok." I look to see a complicated look on Edward's face. "What's going on?"
He shakes his head. "It's nothing."
"Edward I know when your hiding something. What aren't you telling me." A sigh escapes his lips before he responds to my question.
"I've been thinking a lot that we are a danger." Oh no. Don't tell me they are going to leave me behind.
"Wait what. So I got hurt and now your going to leave me behind? I'm family!" Now it's Edward's turn to look shocked.
"What are you talking about Sophie? Are you thinking that we would leave you behind?" My silence seems to answer him loud and clear. "Sophie we adopted you at a young age. We knew what we were getting into when you were adopted. Your my sister and we all adore you. We would never leave you behind. Why would you think that?"
"You don't think humans should be in an environment of vampires. I'm a human living with you guys. I'm afraid that your thinking of leaving me to protect me." Edward sighs and squeezes my hand.
"We would never leave you behind. Rosalie wouldn't have it anyway. She would pitch a fit if the idea was even spoken out loud." I chuckle with a smile. "I was talking about all of us leaving Forks."
"Leaving Bella you mean." All he does is nod his head. "Edward that is probably the most stupidest idea that you have ever had."
"Sophie.."
"No. This is a bad idea. You both need each other and if you did that then the both of you would be miserable. Who knows what Bella would do."
I know what Bella would do but it's best to keep that to myself.
"So what exactly is the diagnosis?" Edward sighed and attempted to form a smile but failed miserably.
"Broken ribs, broken leg, you lost a lot of blood. Not to mention the bite mark on your wrist."
I just nod my head. "Thank you. For saving me."
Edward grabbed my hand and smiled. "Your welcome." Edward game my hand a squeeze before standing up. "Get some rest. I'll be back later. Hopefully we will be able to go home soon."
"Ok." Edward leaves the room. I soon become lost in my own thoughts.
The music blasts loud causing me to get a headache. Alice just had to drag me to Prom. I quietly slip out and stand outside looking at the stars.
I was able to go home after a day at the hospital. The only downside was this boot on my left leg. At least me and Bella are matching.
Twilight is pretty much over with. I don't know what exactly to expect next. New Moon is coming but I don't know for certain how it will unfold. My presence here changed Twilight a little.
I keep wondering how much longer I will be in this world. Will I always be here, or am I going to be taken back to the real world? Part of me misses my family. But another part of me doesn't want to leave this place. To leave my other family behind.
I have so many questions about the future, but I know that whatever happens I will be surrounded by people who love me.
Well that is the end of Twilight. Next up is New Moon! I want to apologize for taking so long to update this story. I was really sick for a while and didn't have the energy to update this story. I'm feeling a lot better now so hopefully I will update again soon. I have big plans for New Moon. Sophie will have have a love interest later on. Who do you think she should be with? A vampire? Werewolf? or Human? Should I do a character already in the books or do an OC? Please tell me your thoughts! Until next time!
