No, absolutely not. This man can't be serious.

We have been in Denali for two days. It was nice and relaxing, sort of.

I managed to stay away from Laurent. I think he understood that I wasn't over what happened with James. The guy did try to kill me. I honestly appreciated him keeping his distance.

The other one however, couldn't take a hint. I tried my best to keep him away from me. I would make comments about his red eyes even though they weren't red anymore. Despite my insults, he just kept coming back to me.

I'm not as bothered by him formally being in the Volturi compared to when I arrived two days ago. I was actually proud that he was able to leave. That took a lot of courage for him to do that.

However, the part that I didn't like is his egotistical attitude. He would follow me everywhere. He would tell me how great of a fighter he is and that he wanted to get to know me better.

Everything hit the fan when he started telling me I would swoon and fall madly in love with him. No, this guy was mad if he thought I would ever like him like that.

Today was the day that we were heading to New York. Carlisle and Esme had the house ready for us. We were driving there so it would take a week or two to get there.

Edward left an hour ago. I gave him a hug before left. He said he would check in but I didn't think it would be anytime soon.

I was relaxed and ready for the trip when the maniac said something appalling.

He decided that he was coming with us to New York. He wanted a change of scenery and wanted to learn more about the vegetarian lifestyle from Carlisle.

I knew that his real reason to come was because of me.

"No. Absolutely not. There is no way that you are coming with us." He looked at me with his signature smirk.

"Why not? I think it will be nice to learn about all of you. It will be nice to officially meet Carlisle. Aro would talk about him often." That was the first time that he mentioned anything relating to his previous life.

"I commend you for leaving them but you aren't coming. No way in hell are you getting in the same car as me."

He looked at me. "Fine. I will ride in your other car then." We had two cars that we were taking. Alice and Jasper were in one car and I would be in the other car with Emmett and Rosalie.

I was so focused on trying to convince this idiot not to come that I didn't notice my family looking amused.

I grit my teeth. "Sorry, but you can't come. We all have to discuss this and fortunately Carlisle and Esme are not here."

"Actually.." My head turned to Alice. This was when I noticed everyone had been watching us. "I might have called Carlisle and Esme about the situation. They said it was ok. They would like to meet him." Carlisle and Esme. They always were welcoming to everyone. Especially for vampires who wanted to change their diet from humans to animals.

I looked at Jasper. "What are your thoughts Jasper?" Jasper looked at Alex and then at me.

"He will be in the car with me and Alice. I will be able to keep a close eye on him." I looked at Alice and already knew she was wanting Alex to come with us.

"I think he should come. It would be nice to have someone to fight with." Oh good lord Emmett. I look at Rosalie and she just kept her eyes on Alex.

"I would rather that he doesn't come with us. I don't like him being around Sophie. Though it seems like everyone else wants you to come so I guess you will. Just know, that if you try anything then I will kill you." Well, at least Rosalie is on my side on this.

"Noted. I will be respectful of your rules." He flashed me a smile and revealed an already packed bag. That good for nothing...

"Come on Sophie. We have a long drive ahead of us." I nodded my head at Rosalie and walked to my cousins. I hugged everyone goodbye, except for Laurent. I just gave him a small smile. I looked at everyone one last time before getting into the car with Rosalie and Emmett.

I was so excited to be out of that car. We were on the road for about a week and a half. My family made a couple of stops for me but we mainly stayed in the car.

It helped that they didn't sleep.

Once we arrived at the new house I immediately hopped out. I looked up to see the new house.

It was big. Not as big as our house in Forks, but it was still a pretty big house. There was glass around the house like the one back in Forks.

It basically looked similar to the house back in Forks, except smaller.

Carlisle and Esme smiled at me as I ran up to them. I hugged the both of them.

Esme giggled. "We missed you too honey."

"Yes, you yelling at the TV never gets old," chuckled Carlisle.

Carlisle looks behind me at something. More like at someone.

Carlisle puts on a friendly smile. "Hello, you must be Alex." My smile is soon replaced with a scowl.

"Yes, and you must be Carlisle. It's a pleasure to meet you." Alex shakes Carlisle's hand.

"I heard that you left the Volturi 50 years ago?" Alex's face becomes unreadable.

"Yes. I left to find something new. I've been feeding from animals ever since. Aro spoke of you often and I am really intrigued. I hope it's ok for me to stay a while."

Something about Alex's story didn't seem right. As soon as Carlisle mentioned the Volturi, Alex put his guard up.

I feel that something happened to him that made him leave. There is a reason why he doesn't hunt humans anymore.

Carlisle gives him a friendly smile. "Of course. Well, you are welcome here as long as you like. Since you are new to the diet, it might be best to have Jasper near you for right now." I didn't miss Carlisle's eyes flicker over to me.

He wanted Jasper near Alex to make sure he doesn't have a slip up. Fine by me. The further away from me the better.

Alex smiled at Carlisle kindly. "Of course. I look forward to spending time with all of you." Alex looked at me and gave me a smile.

Esme took my hand. "Come on Sophie, I will show you around the house."

I nod my head. I look at Alex one last time before following Esme.

A thought then entered my mind. Alex was once part of the Volturi. It seemed to me that he didn't enjoy talking about them.

This led me to assume that something bad happened. Aro didn't like to lose anyone with a special power. I'm starting to think that Alex fought his way out of the Volturi.

This thought caused me to wonder one thing.

If Alex did have a power, then what is it?
