The ride to Bella's house couldn't be any more slower. I felt that Paul was taking his time driving us just to annoy me. I kept grumbling at him to drive faster but he always ignored me. I even caught him smirking at one point.
"Paul will you hurry up!" I couldn't take this any longer.
Paul started laughing. "What, am I bothering you your highness?" If looks could kill, Paul would be dead right now.
"The fact that you are driving 20 miles under the speed limit, then yes you are bothering me."
"Whatever you say sweetheart."
"Do not call me that." I growled at him. I'm close to killing the man.
"How much longer until we get to my house Paul?" I look at Bella to see her looking very uncomfortable. I kind of felt bad for her. She's stuck in a car with a girl and a werewolf with anger management issues who can't help but to argue with each other.
"Not long." True to his word, we pulled into Bella's driveway about five minutes later. I couldn't be happier to be back in Forks. I quickly get out of Paul's car and walk towards Bella's house. My happiness is quickly extinguished once I see Alex standing at Bella's door, and he looked pissed. I wished that I stayed on the reservation.
I let out a sigh and walk towards him. "Hi." I've never seen Alex this angry before. Not at me anyways.
"Do you have any idea how close I came to breaking the treaty. What was I supposed to think when I hear from Edward that you skipped school to go hang out with wolves."
"Alex, I'm sorry."
"I can't believe you would be so reckless!"
"Alex, calm down. I only went to make sure Bella was ok." I instantly realized that I just said something that I shouldn't have.
"You went to the reservation because of Bella? Why is it that you are always putting your safety aside for her!"
"Alex don't be mad at her."
"Why not? She's constantly putting you at risk or in danger." I looked at Alex pleadingly. I was hoping he would stop this and not cause a scene in front of Paul and Bella.
"Why don't you calm down leech. She's perfectly safe with us. We wouldn't hurt her or Bella." I turned to see Paul staring at Alex. Bella and Edward were watching us from behind him.
"I'm sorry that I'm concerned about the health and well-being of my girlfriend," hissed Alex. My eyes widened as I jerk back to look at Alex perplexed.
Girlfriend? We never put a label on us dating yet. Sure, it was only a matter of time but hearing him saying it like this is taking me by surprise.
"So your dating a leech Sophie? Looks like we have another leech lover." I look at Paul with wide eyes. I watch as Paul's whole body is engulfed with tremors. His whole body is shaking and he's giving me the eyes of death.
"Paul, calm down please. Don't do anything that you will regret." I pleadingly look at Paul but I can tell that my words land on deaf ears. I try to walk towards him but Alex quickly puts me behind him. Making sure he would protect me in case Paul shifted in his anger.
I barely register Edward pushing Bella towards her house. He's trying to protect her by taking her inside the house. Edward guides Bella to her door and she starts to unlock it. It's only when she opens the door that the guys freeze.
I look at them confusingly. "What is it." I see Edward and Alex looking into Bella's house. "Something's wrong," states Edward before disappearing into the house. I look at Bella as she follows Edward into her house. I then decide to follow also.
I follow Edward and Bella up the stairs and into her room. Edward is analyzing everything in the room.
"Edward, what is it?" asks Bella. She looks confused just as I am.
"Someone's been in here." In that instant I start to remember Riley. How could I be so forgetful? Riley has come into Bella's house and has taken some clothes and possibly a pillow case. Anything that has her scent on it he has probably taken. Things were starting to get more serious. "Is there anything missing?"
Bella looks around her and analyzes her room. Her eyes start to widen. "I had a shirt on my hamper. It's gone now. Some other clothes are missing also. My hamper isn't as full as it was this morning. A pillowcase is gone too. Edward, who would be in here? Is it Alice or anyone?" Edward just shakes his head.
"No, it's not someone that I have encountered before." Edward then looks at Alex who just appeared behind me. "Alex, do you recognize the sent?"
Alex shakes his head also. "Not really. It's no one from the Volturi, I am positive about that. It seems familiar though." I was wondering if he caught Riley's scent when he came for me previously. Alex stills. "Wait. I have smelled this before, faintly and briefly." Alex then turns to me. "It's the same person who came for Sophie." It was like a pin dropped.
"Wait, so your telling me that the leech who came for Sophie, stole one of Bella's shirts? Why would he do that?" I didn't realize that Paul followed us into the house.
This was all too much. I never realized how much danger me and Bella would be in. Edward turns and looks at me and Bella. "Come on, we are going home." I nodded and followed Edward, Bella and Alex down the stairs. We just get outside when I'm suddenly yanked backwards. I yelp in surprise. Alex and Edward whirl around and glare at Paul who has his hand on my arm. Edward pushes Bella behind him while Alex gets into a position where he will lunge at Paul to protect me.
"I need some clarification. Why would a leech that we don't know be in Bella's house?"
"Paul, let her go." Great we have another wolf that decided to join us. At this moment I could hug Jacob.
Paul let out a breathe and gently let go of my arm. I instantly went to Alex where he held me in his arms in comfort.
"Someone has been in my house apparently." Jacob looks at Bella before looking at the house. He doesn't say anything before he darts into the house.
Edward let's out a frustrated sigh. "Great." Bella rushes back into the house while Edward follows her inside. Leaving me alone with Alex and Paul. Paul looks at me like he's trying to study me. I'm then brought back to reality when I find Alex sniffing me. I look at him to see a disgusted look on his face.
"You stink." He smells the werewolves on me. I don't say anything and I'm engulfed in his arms. I can only stand there while he puts kisses all over my face. No doubt he's trying to get the werewolf smell off of me.
"Ugh, your being dramatic. We don't stink, you do." Alex growls and pushes me behind him.
"You need to back off. Go back to the reservation, we've got this covered." Paul growls and narrows his eyes at Alex.
"Alex, Paul, both of you stop this. This arguing isn't going to solve anything." I push my way and stand between the two of them. I place my hand on Alex's chest to prevent him from going any farther. Even though he could easily get to Paul in a second. Alex looks at me and his eyes soften. He gives me a nod and looks back at Paul.
I look at Paul and he starts to grumble. "Fine." An awkward silence engulfs us. I was thankful when Jacob, Edward, and Bella exit the house. "Well, his stink is all over the house. It will be hard to miss when he comes back over here. We will handle it from here." This would not end well. Edward turns and faces Jacob with Bella standing in the middle of them.
Edward glowers at Jacob. "We don't need you to handle anything or anyone."
"I could care less what you need."
"Ok great. Then we will all work together," intervenes Bella. She knows that this would not end well. She looks at Jacob and Edward as they have a staring contest. More like a glaring contest. "Come on guys. We all have the same goal don't we? To catch the bad vampires."
Jacob just smirks. "Like there's a difference." In that instant I could punch Jacob. My family would never hurt me or Bella.
"Jacob.." I start, about to give him a piece of my mind. Alex squeezes my arm in warning.
"Don't, it will only make things worse," whispers Alex. I look to see Paul nodding his head. I guess they were thinking the same thing.
Edward shakes his head and looks away. "We're done here." He takes Bella's hand and starts to lead her to his Volvo. Alex turns me around and walks me in the direction of the car.
I look back to see Jacob grabbing Bella's arm. "No, we're not done here." Edward's eyes then flare up and I can tell that he is about to start yelling at Jacob.
"Stop!" Bella takes her arm and hand out of their grasps. "I'm tired of this. From now on I'm Switzerland ok? I know you guys don't like each other but we've got bigger problems. This is just one temporary solution. If you both would be willing to try." Edward and Jacob both look at her before sighing. They start to nod their heads in agreement. I can tell that it's grudgingly.
"Ok," nods Bella.
Edward stares at Jacob with a frown. "We need to take Sophie back to our house. I'm taking Bella and we will do a perimeter over her house. We will let you know what we find." Without waiting for his answer, Edward leads Bella and I to his car. I climb into the back of Edward's car with Alex sitting beside me. Edward soon starts the car and Bella puts on her seatbelt. I stare straight ahead of me getting lost in my own thoughts. I don't look behind me to see Jacob and Paul leaving. What should I do?
"Why would someone be in my house? He took some clothes and a pillowcase. It doesn't make any sense." At that moment, I made a decision. I needed to protect my family. Even if it meant that it could possibly ruin my relationship with them in the aftermath.
I take in a breath. "His name is Riley Biers." Silence engulfs the car. Edward instantly pulls off to the side of the road and I notice that they are all looking at me.
"How do you know that?" Edward and Alex look at me perplexed while Bella looks at me confused.
I let out a sigh before glancing at my hands. I look up and look at Edward in the eyes. "I think it's time we had a family meeting."
So I have decided on her telling everyone her secret. I just wanted it to happen at the right moment. I didn't want everything to be rushed because I felt that if I did, it would ruin the story. After much thought, I have decided that the moment to unveil everything is here. Everything will start to unravel in the next chapter. What are your thoughts on everything?
