When I woke up in the morning, bright light greets me. The sunlight was hurting me eyes. I slammed my eyes back shut and groaned in annoyance. Why is the sun so bright this morning? It's probably the reflection of the sun from the snow that is making the light painful to my eyes.

I slowly opened my eyes and noticed that the tent was empty. Paul was no longer in the sleeping bag with me. I yawned one more time and sat up. Well, time to get dressed in this Antarctica type weather.

I unzipped my bag and pulled out the warm clothes that Alice packed for me. I quickly take my clothes off and put the new ones on, to save myself from the cold on my skin.

I laced my hiking boots again before crawling over to the entrance of the tent. The weather wasn't as cold but I still made sure to wear my winter jacket.

The light blinded me again when I unzipped the tent. Oh good lord. It took me a couple of moments to adjust before I could fully open up my eyes.

Slowly, I stood up and stepped out of the shelter of the tent. The tent was still drilled in tight against the ground. Alex did really well when he put the tent together.

The ground was full of the soft snow white material. My boots crunched on top of the snow. I turned to see Alex walking out of the tree line. He gave me a small smile. "Hey." He pulled me into his arms and gave me a kiss. "How did you sleep?"

"Fine. I was warm but I wish it was your arms that held me last night."

"Believe me. There were multiple times that I wanted to rip his arms off." I laugh at him.

"Is that jealousy that I detect?" Alex let out a playful growl and pulled me closer to him.

"Yes. I'm the only one you should be with." I smile with my mouth closed.

"You know, jealousy is really a turn on right now." I grab him by the shirt and slam my lips onto his. I naturally wrap my arms around his neck while he wraps his cold muscular arms around my waist. The kiss soon becomes possessive when a cough interrupts the moment.

Alex groans but pulls away from me. I huff in annoyance and turn to look at the culprit. "Really Edward?"

Edward rolls his eyes and walks over to us. "You guys are becoming worse than Rosalie and Emmett." I don't say anything as he pulls me into his arms. "You ok?" No.

"Not really. I just hope you don't get hurt." Edward chuckles.

"Your worried about me, a vampire?"

I shrug my shoulder. "Call it sisterly instinct." I look around me. "Where's Paul at?"

Alex grimaces. "He left already. Went to join the pack before the fight. I'll need to head down soon also." My mood drops. Call me selfish, but I don't want him to go.

Alex pulls me into his arms, as if he can read my thoughts. "I'll be ok. Trust me. I've done this before. I'll be back up here as soon as the numbers go down." I nod and pull away at the sound of heavy footsteps.

I turn just in time for Bella to stand next to me. I give her a smile. "Looks like you survived the cold last night too." Bella cracks a smile.

"Barely," she responds.

"Did Jacob keep you warm last night?" Bella looks at me perplexed.

"Yes, how did you-"

"Paul did the same thing to me. Luckily there were blankets inside my sleeping bag that added a couple of layers between us."

"I wish I thought about that," she mutters. I just give her a big smile.

"I'm glad that you were warm and everything. Though, last night wasn't on my list of favorite 'my ten best nights with you'," says Edward to Bella.

"You have a list?"

Edward just smiles. "Yes." I look at Alex as Bella and Edward discusses some of his favorite nights with her. I take his hand in mine. I think we need to leave in order to give them privacy.

"Did I guess your first place?" asks Bella.

Edward shakes his head and smiles. "No. That would be two nights ago. When you finally agreed to marry me." Bella looks at him and gives him a small smile. I tug Alex's hand with mine and start to walk further away from them. They need this time to themselves. The peaceful atmosphere immediately ends at that moment.

"Your marrying him?" My head jerks up in time to notice Jacob Black standing on a rock, glaring at Bella.

"Jacob-" she stops. Edward just stares at him blankly. Bella whirls her head to Edward.

"You knew that he was listening." It wasn't a question.

"Yes," admits Edward.

"Why would..."

"He deserves to know Bella. I never said that I would fight fair." Jacob scoffs and storms away from us.

"I have to talk to him," says Bella. She starts to follow after him.

"Bella wait." Edward grabs her hand. "Are you angry with me?" She stares at him for a long moment.

"I'm not thrilled, but I'm not angry at you. I'm more angry at myself," she admits. "I have to talk to him, Edward." He stares at her and reluctantly lets go of her hand. She stares at him and then goes after Jacob. "Jake. Wait!"

She then disappears into the trees. Well that was eventful.

"Well, talk about drama," I can't help but to say.

"Did I mess up?" asks Edward. I shake my head at him.

"No, he deserves to know. I like Bella, but I haven't been thrilled with her lately. I don't like how she's been stringing Jacob along. I know that she doesn't see him like that, but saying she needs him instead of telling him to stay away has made everything worse. It was bound to end up in an explosion," I tell him. Edward just nods at me in agreement. I look at my brother in pity. I use that moment to go over and hug him. I don't say anything as he hugs me back.

"Thank you Sophie," Edward whispers in my ear. I back away from him and smile.

"Well, I will need to go soon. Edward, can I please borrow Sophie for a couple of moments?" interrupts Alex. Edward looks at him and sighs.

"Of course." Edward then turns away and heads in the direction that Bella went. I turn to Alex.

"Do you have to go," I mutter.

"Yes. I'll be back soon. I promise." I nod as a tear slips out of my eye. Alex comes to me and brushes the tear away. "Hey, nothing bad is going to happen to you. I promise." I look at him and see the honesty in his eyes.

"Ok." Alex cradles my head in his hands.

"Before I go, I want to talk to you about something." I look at him confused.

"Ok. What is it?"

"I know that we haven't been together very long. We've only known each other for nine months. I can't live a day without you though Sophie. I love you. I know that you love your family but I think the house is getting a little crowded. Bella will be joining soon also. We have the house in Snoqualmie. We can get away. Just you and me."

I pause and stare at him. I start to remember the conversation last night between him and Paul. I thought that conversation was just a dream. "Alex, what are you saying?"

He stares at me for a moment. "Let's move. Sophie, let's move into the house in Snoqualmie. Just me and you. I know it's four hours away from your family, but I want to be with you everyday. Without distractions. We can visit whenever you want to also."

So it wasn't a dream. He wants us to move into a house together. This isn't an engagement but it feels pretty close to it.

I look into his topaz eyes. Golden liquid meets my green ones as I ponder. Did I want this? Could I handle being four hours away from my family? I stare at him for what felt like a lifetime. I couldn't see myself without him.

I slowly nod my head. "Yes. Let's do it." Happy tears leak out of my eyes. Alex gives me a bright smile and pulls me into his arms. I giggle as he spins me around in a circle. I just hold on tight to him.

He puts my feet onto the snowy surface before giving me a passionate kiss. I am in love with this man.

I look up at him. "When do we move?"

Alex just smiles and cups my face. "Don't worry about it right now. We can talk about it after this fight is over."

I nod. Alex gives me one last smile and steps away.

"You have to go," I say.

"Yes. I'll be here as soon as I can. Victoria won't get anywhere near you. You will be ok. Nothing is going to happen to you." I nod at his words that try to comfort me.

I wrap my arms around him one last time before letting him go. I just stand back as he runs away from me, into the trees.

A hand then lands on my shoulder, causing me to jump.

"Geez, Sophie. It's only me," replies Edward who has his hands raised up in surrender.

I sigh. "Sorry, I'm just really jumpy at the moment." I notice Bella making her way over to us. I know that she kissed Jacob and so does Edward. Edward probably already talked to her about it. I decide not mention it to her.

I hear a whine to my left and I notice Seth laying on a rock near us. When did he get here?

"What's wrong with Seth?" Edward glances in his direction.

"He's just angry that he's stuck here with us. He wants to be fighting where the action is. He wants to join them." I meet Edward's eyes but we don't say a word. I feel bad but Seth can't know about Victoria coming up here. It would raise up too many questions.

Edward turns his head and stares off into the distance. He's hearing the fight start.

"It's starting," he replies.

Edward starts to give us a play by play of the battle that's happening below. Alex has managed to kill some of the newborns. I listen at the news of Sam and the pack picking a newborn off one by one. I continue to grow nervous by the second. I know Victoria is near.

It's at that moment that Seth's breathing stops. Edward looks frozen. Speak of the devil and she shall appear.

"What is it? What's wrong?" questions Bella. I guess Edward didn't tell her.

"Go, Seth!" Seth jolts up and runs into the thick forest. Edward places me and Bella behind him and spreads his arms out.

"Someone's coming. Who?" asks Bella.

"Victoria," spits out Edward. "She crossed my scent, following the newborns to watch. She never meant to fight with them. It was the spur of the moment decision to find me. She figured that the both of you would be with me."

"She's here," states Bella.

"And she's not alone," Edward responds.

Riley Biers uses that moment to walk out of the trees and into the clearing that we are standing in. He scans the three of us but settles his eyes on me. Probably remembering how he almost killed me.

Riley's tall and muscular with brownish hair. His red eyes stands out against his pale white skin.

A jolt ahead of Edward causes me to jump. I look up to see Victoria on a tree branch that is situated beside Riley.

Victoria stares at Bella and then glances at me. She turns back to Bella. Her sole focus is on Bella. I observe her red eyes that look darker. Almost turning completely black. She's hungry. Hungry for Bella's blood. Her orange hair seemed brighter than I remember. It's as if her hair is a flame. The wind blows her hair to make it look like a roaring fire.

Victoria was setting her plan into motion. Riley would attack Edward to give Victoria a window to kill Bella. I would be next no doubt.

Riley glances at Victoria and then takes a step forward.

"Riley," pleads Edward.

Riley freezes and stares at Edward. His brows furrow in confusion.

"She's lying to you Riley," Edward told him. "She's been lying to you this whole time."

Further confusion swept across Riley's face.

"She doesn't love you Riley," continues Edward. "She never has. She is only using you to avenge her mate, James. You are only a tool to you."

At the mention of James's name, Victoria jolts and bares her teeth in the direction of Bella. Her eyes solely locked on Bella.

Riley turns and stares at Victoria. She glances to the side at him.

"Don't listen to him Riley. I told you about his mind tricks," replies Victoria. She makes her voice sound pleading and desperate.

"I can read her mind Riley," continues Edward. "I can hear what she is thinking at this moment. She want's me to kill you. I will be doing her a service."

Riley continues to look at Victoria. Not looking at anyone else.

"Don't let him do this to us Riley. There's only you." Riley shakes his head away from Victoria and looks down.

He ponders for a couple of seconds before looking up at Edward.

"Your dead," is the only thing he says before rushing forward.

A roar fills the atmosphere right before Seth launches himself at Riley. "No!" screams Victoria in astonishment. She quickly jumps off of the tree branch and starts to run away.

"You'll never get an opportunity like this again!" Victoria stops in her tracks. "You want me to feel the pain of losing someone." Victoria turns and glares at Edward. "You want me to feel the pain that you felt when I killed James." Victoria's body starts to shake in anger. She snarls at Edward. "When I turned him into nothing. When I turned him into ash." Victoria roars and lunges towards Edward.

Edward pushes her away; she lands on her feet away from us. She stops and glares at Bella. She pauses and then her lips turn into a smirk.

Edward widens his eyes in astonishment. "No!" he roars right before another body plows into him. I jump to see that another vampire appeared out of no where and throws him away from us. Bella backs away in fear. Edward tries to throw the vampire off of him in order to get back to me and Bella.

We were now sitting ducks. Me and Bella are no longer protected.

I turn just in time to see Victoria's eyes slowly turn away from Bella and towards me. Our eyes make contact. I don't have time to run or scream as she races over to me.

I can only gasp as she grabs me by the collar of my sweater and races off into the trees. Dragging me along with her.

Ok. So now the action is really going to start. Thank you again for reading this little fanfiction story of mine. Until next time!
