I remain silent as Victoria continues to run in an unknown direction. Victoria plows through the thick forest as I dangle like an earing behind her. I gasp and duck my head so that I don't come into contact with anything. She dodges trees and curves before stopping suddenly.
She roughly throws me away from her and I land on the rocky surface of the mountain. I cough and groan in pain. I look up and notice that we are no longer in the forest. She has taken us to a cliff edge on the side of the mountain. Snow lays on top of the rocky surface of the cliff. I landed on the edge of the cliff and decided to look down at the trees and rocks below.
Lush green from the tops of the trees sways with the wind below. The movement from the trees contrasts against the dry and unmovable minerals. Huge boulders resides right next to the rocky surface of the mountain. The trees and rocks below us had to be at least one hundred feet away. I gasp in fright and scramble away from the cliff edge. I would surely die if I fell over.
I turn just in time for Victoria to suddenly be in front of me. I scream softly in shock as she grabs me by the shoulder. Nothing comes past my lips as I'm roughly hoisted up. Her ice cold grip clutches my shoulder as she holds me in front of her so that we are eye to eye. My feet are no longer touching the snowy surface.
Her eyes glare at me and she grins maliciously.
"How?" I can only gasp. That landing knocked the wind out of me.
"You honestly didn't think I wouldn't have a back up plan did you? I told Scott to keep his distance and to only attack when he found an opening. He made the decision to attack at the perfect moment." Her grip on my shoulder tightens and I groan in pain. She tosses me away from her again and I land a couple of feet away from her.
I cough as I prop myself up by my arms. "Was this your plan all along?"
"No, not really. I originally only wanted Bella. I made Riley make all of the decisions. I told him about you and it was his decision to come after you." The night that he attacked me comes flashing back. I could still feel his cold arms wrapping around my waist before roughly pulling me out of the window.
It was in this moment that I knew that I was in deep trouble. I never saw this coming because it was only Victoria and Riley in the books. I never thought she would have someone else coming to help her.
"You hoped he would make that decision. You probably planted a seed in his head so that he would come for me."
"Yes. He's so predictable. He would do anything for me. He's like a lost and wounded puppy. But imagine my surprise when he told me someone was there in the house with you. I didn't know someone else joined your little coven." She spits out the word coven as if it was an unpleasant taste in her mouth.
I stood up on shaky legs as Victoria started to pace around me. I needed to create a distraction so someone could rescue me before she killed me. Hopefully. Only Edward, Bella, and Seth knew that I was taken. I hope Seth told the pack about it and someone would be on their way. Soon.
"If you wanted Bella, then why me?"
Victoria continues to circle around me and grins maliciously.
"A small memory came to mind. I remember how much James wanted you. He told me that you were special to them and it would hurt them more if they lost you. I wanted Bella because I wanted Edward to know the pain that I feel. I was about to grab her when James's words echoed in my thoughts. I want them all to hurt. Riley and Scott can take care of Bella for me. I'm going to have fun with you."
I glance around me in hopes to find something that will distract her. Enough of a distraction so that my escape would be easier. There's nothing around me except for the snow, rocks, and broken tree limbs. A stupid idea comes to mind. I had to try it though. Just to give myself a little bit more time.
I lurch to the side and use my sudden adrenaline to grab and throw a rock at Victoria. It makes contact with her temple just as I am running towards the forest. Hopefully, in the direction Edward is at.
A low growl fills the air. Victoria uses this moment to grab me by the arm and squeeze it tightly. I lurch back from the force of her hand yanking me back. She continues to squeeze my arm harder. To the point where I feel she is going to break it. Her nails dig into my skin before she throws me towards a tree. My back makes contact on the rough surface and my head jerks back into the trunk. I slam onto the ground and let out a painful cry.
I feel the taste of something metallic in my mouth. I cough and notice red droplets on the snow. I raise a shaky hand and touch the tender spot that's formed on the back of my head.
My red blood is displayed on my hand as if it was a prized trophy.
I hear the sound of crunching snow and try to scramble away but a hand comes into contact with my ankle. I'm pulled back as her hand becomes tighter on my ankle. I feel more pressure before my ankle snaps.
I shriek out in pain. The pain from my broken ankle travels up to the rest of my body. I don't really register how much I'm screaming. My screams fill the cold air and I can only hope Alex or someone can hear me. I needed help.
It was as if my request was answered. I suddenly felt a surge of energy overcome my body.
I scream one last time before the same energy that happened in Italy, comes out of my body and slams into Victoria. Victoria cries out in alarm and is soon thrown off me.
She disappears into the trees. Everything instantly becomes eerily quiet. I use this moment to crawl away from the forest. I can't walk with a broken ankle, so I just have to resort to crawling. Pain shoots through my foot and I cry out in pain and agony. I make it back to the rocky surface of the cliff and crawl to the edge. I look down to try and see if anyone is down below.
Is Alex here? Did he happen to hear my screams? Did Paul hear me? I hope at least someone did so that they would know how much danger I'm in.
I'm going to die if someone doesn't get here quickly.
I don't see anyone. Only trees and rocks. My thoughts wander to Edward. Is he ok? Is Seth ok? Is Bella safe?
It's in this moment that I'm not only worried about my safety, but of theirs also.
A cry of anger comes from behind me. I twist around in time to see Victoria grabbing me. Another scream releases from my lips in fear. She grabs my arms and wraps a hand around my throat. She flings my body so that I'm hanging over the cliff. The only thing that is holding me up is Victoria's hand that's wrapped around my throat.
I gasp and cough at the lack of air. My vision starts to grow heavy. I desperately claw at her hand, trying to relieve some of the pressure. She's going to break my windpipe at this rate. I'm about to lose consciousness when Victoria's grip loosens, just enough where I can see her clearly. I start gasping like a fish out of water.
"So you are special. I always thought there was something off about you," Victoria hisses at me. Victoria swipes my arm with her nails causing her to break skin. I cry out in pain as blood oozes out onto my pale skin.
I watch in terror as Victoria closes her eyes and inhales deeply. Her eyes snap open and I'm met with pitch black eyes.
She slowly rubs her hand on my bleeding arm and brings her hand to her mouth. Her tongue licks my blood until her hand is clean.
"You taste so good. I almost want to drink you before killing you. I just can't decide on what to do? What would hurt them the most." Her hand tightens and I cry out in more pain.
I'm engulphed in pain and wish everything would stop in this moment.
Energy tries to break the surface but it's not enough to stop Victoria.
All I feel is small gusts of pale white energy that tries to get her off of me. It's not working. She doesn't even budge.
She just growls in response.
Her hand tightens around my throat before it slowly loosens. All hope vanishes. I close my eyes, waiting for her to throw me off of the cliff. This was the end for me.
3rdPOV
Newborn vampires continue to flood the battle field. It was like a never ending storm. Just when the Cullen's and wolves thought they had the numbers down; more would show up.
Carlisle was grateful for the wolves at the moment. Everyone would surely be dead if they weren't here.
The Cullen's continued to work through the vampires. Tearing limb from limb. A bonfire was lit in the background. The heat from the flame kept getting hotter and hotter.
The Cullen's kept a distance from it as they helped the shapeshifters throw the bodies into the inferno.
Alice was able to kill another newborn before turning to see Paul biting a head off. Paul spit the tiny head out of his jaws and flung it into the bonfire.
The shapeshifter turned in time to see a newborn latched onto Emmett's back. No matter what their difference was; they had a truce.
Paul flings his body onto the newborn and slams him into the ground. He doesn't think as his claws rip the vampire to pieces.
Paul steps back once he is finished to look at the muscular vampire.
Emmett doesn't say anything, he doesn't need to. He just nods his head in thanks.
Paul races off to continue his fight. Not paying attention to Alex who was on the other side of the battlefield.
Alex's golden eyes smiled in glee. He hasn't had this much fun since his time in Volterra. His animalistic nature started to come out. The monster that he always kept at bay was scratching at the surface. Desperate to get out.
Alex hadn't used his power yet. He only fought and tore the newborns apart. He didn't need to use his power. Everything seemed easy. A little too easy. After killing another enemy, he paused in thought.
Victoria hadn't shown up yet. He thought it was odd since she was the one behind the whole thing. Before Alex could ponder further, another vampire launched themselves at him. He dodged it with grace before grabbing hold of their arms.
He forcefully pushed his foot into the vampires back before pulling it's arms off. He threw the arms away right before he tore it's head off. Alex had just tossed the body into the flames when he went still.
A scream filled the air; a scream everyone knew well.
The Cullen's and wolves paused and looked towards the direction of the scream. Dread instantly overcame Alex.
He knew whose scream that was. Who it belonged to.
Vampires kept coming but he knew that he had to leave.
Alex looked to the side and made eye contact with Paul. Paul barked and nudged his head in the direction of the mountain.
Go.
Alex paused and looked over at Sophie's family.
"Alex, go! We've got this," yelled Jasper. Alex didn't say anything else.
He was running.
Another scream filled the air. Letting him know what direction Sophie was in.
Thoughts of how this could have happened invaded his thoughts but he brushed them aside. He couldn't think like that right now. His only focus was getting to Sophie.
The monster that was scratching the surface started to break through. Alex tried to push him down but it was getting harder and harder.
He was getting angrier and desperate. He told her everything would be ok. That she would be ok. But it was obvious that she wasn't ok. He felt like he had failed her.
Alex heard a voice coming through the trees. He ran towards the sound until he broke out of the forest.
The sight he saw before him caused him to lose his grip on reality. He instantly saw red.
The monster that he tried desperately to keep down was now free. And all hell was about to break loose.
So, I kept rewriting this chapter so many times. I knew what I wanted to do but I couldn't bring it completely together. I decided to break the fight with Victoria into two chapters. I wasn't going to do a 3rd POV originally but to the reader that suggested this, thank you. I feel that this is going to put Alex into a little bit more in perspective. I'm not sure when I will do another 3rd POV. Might do it next chapter. Not sure really. Also, I know there are grammatical errors. I'm trying my best to fix them but I'm not an English major. Thank you again for reading this little fanfiction of mine. Until next time!
