Sweat clings onto my body as I take deep breaths. I am breathless as Alex lays beside me. He smiles and brings my sweaty body back to his.
"How can you not be out of breath," I manage to rasp out. Alex starts to laugh.
"Perks of being a vampire."
I squint as I look at his face closely. "You're holding back, aren't you?" Alex hums at my question.
"You're still human Sophie. I have to be careful. I will say that when you are turned, nothing is going to hold me back." I giggle and laugh as he starts to tickle my sides.
We have been like this for about three days. He cooks my meals for me and takes care of me. Not to mention our late nights that we have together. I never wanted to leave this moment.
I let out a couple of breaths once he stops tickling me. I manage to peel my body away from him. "I need to shower. I'm all disgusting," I complain. I get up and head to our bathroom.
I turn on the water as I feel a kiss on my hair. "Hurry up. We have a lot to do today." I turn and look at him in confusion.
"Why? What do we have going on?" Alex grins bigger.
"Well, as much as I have enjoyed our time here. I think we need a little vacation." My eyes widen in delight.
"Really? Where are we going?"
"I might have been able to get us flight tickets so that we could go to an island off of the shores of Costa Rica." My eyes widen.
"An island off the coast of Costa Rica? Isn't that really expensive." Alex rolls his eyes.
"Please. Like money is an issue for us." Thank you Alice for always helping us with the lottery.
"What about the sun? It's constantly sunny and you can't be seen in the daylight."
"Don't worry about that. There is plenty of coverage to where we are going. It's also a secluded and private island so no one will bother us." Alex gives me a chaste kiss. "Go on. Hurry and take a shower. We have to be at the Seattle airport in a little under two hours. It takes almost 45 minutes to get there." I smile and hop in the shower to clean off.
I could hardly contain my excitement. We were finally going on a vacation together. My mood has been increasingly happy. I haven't had any mood swings and nightmares lately. I was in complete bliss.
The day wears on and the flight to Costa Rica takes almost all day. Soon, we land in San Jose. The atmosphere is bright and loud. I hear music all around us as we make our way into the city.
Shops and restaurants line every corner of the street in the city's center. Alex keeps my hand in his as he guides me through the lively city.
All too soon, he leads me over to a taxi and speaks to the driver in Spanish. I know that I should understand what they are saying but I was never the greatest at foreign languages. That was my Achilles heel.
I wordlessly climb into the taxi as Alex guides me into it. I look at the surroundings as the driver takes us in an unknown location. The buildings fly by and soon they start to thin out. We are on the outskirts of San Jose as our driver keeps driving. I have no clue on what direction we are going in. I can only assume that we are heading to the water. After a while, the driver suddenly stops at the docks. Wooden planks line up against the boats.
I climb out of the taxi as Alex thanks the driver. I look at the different yachts and boats that line up against the docks. I'm led down the dock until we stop in front of a sleek boat. It's smaller than the others. It's obviously used for speed instead of space and luxury.
Alex swiftly places our things into the boat and leaps in lightly. He takes my hand and carefully helps me onto the vessel. I watch him as he works for our departure. I'm surprised at how well he is at this. Then again, he was good at everything.
I sit down on one of the seats as he starts the boats engine and starts to drive away from the shore.
"How long of a boat ride is it?" The waves crashing against the boat is causing me to shout so that he can hear me. It's unnecessary though. He could hear me if I was whispering.
"About 45 minutes. It's off of the mainland. It's a private island. No one will come to see us there."
"Private? Who owns this island." I see the corner of his mouth lift up into a smile.
"It's actually a present from Emmett and Rosalie. They are letting us borrow it."
My brows raise. "Emmett and Rosalie own an island? How come they never mentioned this before?"
"Probably because they knew you would run away to be alone from everybody. They also want some time with just the two of them. Away from everything." I grin and shrug my shoulder.
"Well, they are correct in me running away to stay on a private island. Who wouldn't want to take an opportunity to be alone."
Alex is facing away from me, so I cannot see his facial expression. I can just imagine Alex rolling his eyes. "You are a handful Sophie Cullen."
I grin broadly. "And don't you forget it."
The rest of the trip stays in a comfortable silence. I continue to look at the ocean around us. The moon is out, so the water looks like a dark blue to black color. Everything is pitch black. I can only make the outline of Alex's figure as he continues to drive the boat to our destination.
All too soon, the boat starts to slow down. A small island appears before us and becomes larger the closer we get to it. Palm trees wave against the backdrop of the moonlight glow. A dock appears before us and becomes bigger by every passing second.
Alex slows down to a stop and weaves the boat towards the dock. He parks it along the deck and quickly ties the boat to the dock. Securing it so that it won't float away. Alex gracefully hops out and picks me up before placing my feet onto the wooden dock.
The sound of the waves crashing against the boat greets me. The palm fronds sway with the wind. The air was warm but not humid. It was relaxing.
Alex picks up our suitcases and guides me into the house that is situated beyond the beach. Alex opens the unlocked door and turns on the lights inside the house. I notice how everything is clean. From the kitchen, to the floors, and the walls; everything is spotless. It was as if someone has been here to clean before we arrived.
The small house has an open floor plan. The kitchen connects with the living room. Everything is open instead of closed off. The wooden floors contrasts against the walls that have been painted a light blue.
The kitchen holds a chandelier light that hangs from the ceiling. The counter tops are made of a darker marble. Stainless steel appliances line up against the walls. I notice that there are two ovens attached to one of the walls in the kitchen area.
So far, the house is starting to look almost like a small hotel because of the size of everything.
"Come on, I'll take you to the bedroom," says Alex as he retreats down a hallway.
I follow after him and walk into a room that is bigger than the kitchen. The kitchen was the size of a studio apartment. The bedroom was more on the size of a large apartment that would be worth a couple million dollars.
White walls contrasts against the wooden floors. A huge canopy bed is placed against the back wall. The white comforter stands out against the purple gray sheets. Pillows are neatly placed on the bed. It looks so perfect that I would hate to sleep on it and ruin the masterpiece that it is.
Alex sets the suitcases down and watches me as I walk into the adjourning bathroom. The bathroom was a lot smaller compared to the other rooms in the house, but it was still big. The bathroom was covered in tiles and featured a white marbled countertop. There was a walk in shower and a jacuzzi bathtub lined against the far wall.
I walk out and notice Alex taking his shirt off. Heat rushes to my cheeks. Why am I becoming so nervous? We've done this so many times but I feel my nerves going a mile a minute. I take a breath and walk over to the person who I have fallen madly in love with.
"You ok?" he asks me.
"Yes. Just anxious, I guess."
"Why?"
I shake my head. "I don't know why. I can't understand why I'm feeling like this."
He cradles my face in his hands and gives me a long kiss.
"Maybe a midnight swim would help," he suggests.
I smile. "That sounds good. You go ahead. I'm going to need a couple of human moments." He smiles at me.
"Don't take too long." He kisses my forehead and walks out of the door in our room that leads to the beach. I let out a breath and grab my suitcase.
I take my toiletry bag out of it and walk into the bathroom. Looking at myself in the mirror, I quickly start to decompress.
I peel out of my clothes that feel dirty from being on the plane for so long. I rake my fingers through my long brown hair. I make sure that my legs are shaved and put on another layer of deodorant. I give myself a once over before wrapping a towel around my body.
I walk out and go to the beach. The sand squishes between my toes as I grow closer to the ocean. I stop and see that Alex is already in the water with his back facing me.
This scene is exactly like the scene in the book and movie of Breaking Dawn when Edward and Bella have their first night of their honeymoon together. I almost feel that I am representing Bella and Alex represents Edward.
I let go of the towel and wade into the water. I soon stand beside him and stare up at the moon.
"I can't believe that we are here," I whisper. "We've always talked about traveling but this is the first time we've actually traveled to another country together. Italy doesn't count."
Alex smiles and looks down at me. "No, Italy does not count."
"The moon is really beautiful," I tell him.
"It's ok. Nothing compared to you though." He touches my hand and pulls me into him. I wrap my arms around his neck as his arms wrap around my waist.
"How long are we going to be here?"
"As long as we want to be here. Rosalie didn't give us a time frame." I smile sadly. "You miss her," he states.
"Yes. She helped raise me. I'm closer to her and Edward out of everyone. It's just hard that I wont be able to see everyone for a while."
"I know. You will see them again." I smile at his comment.
"I know. I'm just sad that it will be in a couple of years. I'll be ok, though. I'm just happy that I have you." I gaze into his eyes. The butterflies that are in my stomach melt away. I am brought to the here and now. Everything about this moment was perfect.
"I cannot wait to spend an eternity with you Sophie." His words bring me joy.
"I love you, Alex. I can't wait to spend forever with you."
"Forever," he agrees. He leans in and gives me a long and passionate kiss. I feel my body being raised and I wrap my legs around his waist. He takes a step and sends us deeper into the water.
So, I thought that Alex and Sophie deserved a little island destination as well. Stay tuned for more drama that is on the way. Until next time!
