Sophie's POV

The living room has been silent since the three guys left. No one dared to say a word. The atmosphere in the room was thick. You could practically cut the tension with a knife.

I sit in silence next to Bella, not knowing what to say or think. I have a good idea on what they are discussing. Movement brings me back to reality. I look up in time to see Edward, Alex, and Jacob coming back into the room. I squint at all of them in suspicion.

Bella's eyes keep flickering between Edward and Jacob.

"Everyone, we're going to let Jacob talk to Bella and Sophie privately," announces Edward. I try to hold in my grumble. Jacob was going to try to talk us out of this. Not going to happen.

"Over my pile of ashes," hisses Rosalie. Rose softly places her hands on Bella's shoulders.

"Not a chance," agrees Kate.

"Bella, he only wants to talk with you and Sophie," pleaded Edward. Bella stares at him before sighing.

"Ok. Rose, it's fine. Jake's not going to hurt us."

Rose shakes her head. "It might be a trick."

"I don't see how. Rose it's fine. Go with Edward."

"What do you think Sophie?" I glance up at Kate. I can tell that she doesn't want me to be left alone with him. I wasn't thrilled about the idea either.

I feel Alex staring at me. I give him a pointed look before sighing.

"Fine. He has two minutes. Chop chop, Jacob Black." I give him a withering glare and I barely notice that Alex is trying to fight off a smile.

I watch silently as everyone slowly leaves the room. Rose and Kate follow after Edward. Alex follows after them and pauses in the doorway. I can see the pain in his eyes which is telling me how much guilt he holds. The guilt that I am in this situation and the guilt about how he is keeping his distance from me. I give him a small smile before nodding my head. He nods back to me before leaving the room as well. He then shuts the door, leaving me and Bella alone with Jacob.

Jacob walks over to us and sits in the small space that's between me and Bella. He grabs Bella's hand in one and mine in the other. I almost want to pull my hand away from him but the warmth feels good against my ice cold skin.

"Thanks, Jake. That feels good," says Bella. I just nod my head in agreement.

"I'm not going to lie. You two look hideous." I roll my eyes as Bella starts to sigh.

"I know. We are scary looking," she says.

"At least you look manageable. I look like the-swamp-thing scary," I try to joke about my appearance but I didn't find it completely funny. I couldn't help but to feel self conscious of my appearance.

Jacob sighs. "What the hell are two thinking? Seriously!" I give Jacob a huff and yank my hand out from his.

"Did they ask you to yell at us?" questions Bella.

"Sort of. They want me to talk some sense into you two. I'm not sure how you will listen to me though."

"Save your breath Jacob. Nothing that you can say will change my mind. I've made my decision and I am sticking with it," I tell him. I'm too weak to stand up so I just scoot away as far as I can from the shapeshifter.

Jacob groans. "You are just like what Paul said. Stubborn and annoying." I glare at him.

"Tell Paul to stay on the reservation and out of my business. He is not needed in this situation." Jacob let's out a low growl.

"Did they really ask you to talk to us?" Bella, always the one to try and diffuse the situation.

Jacob nods. "To talk some sense into the both of you. They don't want to lose the both of you."

Guilt overcomes me. I knew that my decision was destroying Alex.

"It's going to work you know," responds Bella.

"How? The both of you are going to die!"

"I'm not going to die," Bella says through her teeth. "I will survive this. I will keep going until the baby is born and then I will be turned." I knew Bella would survive this. Appearance wise, she was going to make it. I wasn't sure if that applied to me though. I could feel myself getting weaker by the day.

I keep this to myself. Not saying a word to anyone about it.

"Emergency vampirism," comments Jacob.

"I'm going to hold out as long as I can." This is the only thing that I can say to Jacob. I'm not sure if I will make it.

"I can't believe this! The two of you are killing yourselves. You are dying for nothing!" Jacob leaps up off the the couch and paces in front of us.

A flash of rage overcomes me. "It is not for nothing Jacob Black," I hiss at him. "We are not dying. I will not be dying." I wince at the kick from my baby. "I can tell that you are on the same side with Edward and Alex. If all you are going to do is patronize us then you can go ahead and leave. You are not needed here." Somehow, I am able to stand up from the couch on my own. I storm out of the room. Flinging open the door in anger. Alex is standing in the hallway, looking defeated.

My anger continues to boil. "If that was an attempt to get me to change my mind, it didn't work. It will never work. You know, it takes two people to make a baby! Two people! I have needed you throughout this whole process and you have abandoned me!" I start to scream at him. I'm not caring about how hysterical I may seem.

I don't flinch as a picture frame tears itself off of the wall and flies at Alex's head. He ducks in time so that it misses him by mear inches. I storm past him. I can't even look at him right now.

"Sophie." I feel a tug on my hand and whirl around to tear my hand out of his. This unknown energy bursts out and knocks Alex off of his feet.

"Don't! I can't handle this anymore. I need you. Come talk to me when you finally see reason." Will that, I turn around and head to my room. I slam my door shut and lock it. Letting everyone know to leave me alone.

3rd POV

Wow. That girl has major anger issues. Or it's the pregnancy hormones. Thought Jacob. He couldn't see the conflict but he heard everything with his supernatural hearing.

"Sophie's right. You should probably go." Jacob turns and stares at Bella. She's not going to see reason.

"Why can't you see that it's killing you?"

"It can't help it. It's not its fault." The shapeshifter shakes his head in disbelief at her statement. She's never going to see reason. Anger boils in his blood. Jacob decided that he can't stay there and watch her wither away.

"I need to go. Bye, Bella." He turns to head out of the door but pauses at her voice.

"Will you come back?" A sigh answers her question and he turns to look at the girl that is starting to wither away.

"No. I'm not going to stay here and watch you die. I'm not going to do that." Bella flinches at Jacob's statement and slowly nods.

"Bye, Jake." Jacob gives her a long stare before leaving the house. Jacob leaves the house and ignores the motorcycle he brought with him. He needed to run.

Anger at the situation overcomes him. He quickly takes his clothes off and ties them to his ankle before he phases out in the open. He runs blindly, not knowing where to go. That's when voices intrude into his thoughts.

The other wolves saw Jacob's thoughts. All of them saw what was happening to Sophie and Bella. Sam was furious.

"Come home Jacob." Sam was furious. "Someone, go get Jared." He ordered.

Jacob turns and heads to the reservation. Obeying his alpha's orders.

Everyone saw the horror as Jacob ran through the forest.

They saw Bella and Sophie's stomach; their raspy voice; they saw the pain on Edward's and Alex's faces; they saw how sick the two girls looked. How they looked to be withering away. They saw how Bella seemed to be in better shape than Sophie; they even saw how there were new arrivals at the Cullen household. That last part infuriated Sam. They didn't need anymore leeches in the Forks area.

Jacob's thoughts were quiet at first. Then everyone started shouting all at once. All of them started running to meet Jacob, which led them to a clearing left by loggers. It was out of the way so no one would see them. Paul met Jacob there first.

"What the hell did he do to her!" Paul started snarling at the image of the girl he had a love/hate relationship with. He saw how her bones where starting to protrude out of her skin. It made his stomach turn at the sight of her. "When I get ahold of him, I'm-"

"It's unnatural, monstrous, they are abominations." More voices filled Jacob's head.

"Not safe. Not right." Everyone started to speak all at once, so that it was hard to decipher who was talking.

"We can't allow it," everyone chanted all at once. Everyone was scared of it. Thinking that it would harm the village. The treaty didn't apply to this. No one knew how to handle the situation. Everyone was in fear.

"Quiet," interrupted Sam. He stood on top of logs while everyone else stayed on the ground. A hush comes over everyone.

Sam pauses before continuing. "We have to protect the tribe. We have to protect our families. It's not safe as long as these creatures are alive. We have to kill them before it's too late."

Jacob paused at Sam's statement. What? Kill Bella and Sophie?

"No time to waste," agreed Jared.

"It will mean a fight. A bad one," Embry cautioned.

"We're ready," said Leah.

"We'll need surprise on our side," said Sam.

"If we catch them off guard, we can take them out separately. It will make our victory that much easier," Jared thought. Starting to strategize.

Paul paused. They were being ordered to destroy these unborn creatures. Which would mean the death of Bella and Sophie. He had no care for Bella. If it was just Bella then he wouldn't question Sam. He would gladly follow him to destroy this thing. But Sophie was part of this now. It would mean that he would have to destroy Sophie. Paul has grown to care for the human Cullen. He didn't know what to do. Would he be able to kill Sophie in order to protect the tribe?

Wait. Jacob paused. Kill Bella? He couldn't do that.

"Wait. What about the treaty? We can't ambush them. The treaty is still intact," Jacob argued.

"This is not something that the treaty anticipated. It is now void. We have to attack." Sam was ordering everyone.

"You want us to hurt Bella and Sophie? They are just babies." Seth starts to state his objections. He can't see himself harming anyone who wasn't a vampire.

"Not for long," Leah snorted. Jacob growled and launched himself at Leah. He wasn't going to let her harm them.

"ENOUGH!" Sam lundered at everyone. He is growing angrier by the second. Every second that passes is causing the danger to continue.

"Come on Jacob. This is serious. This is a big problem. We can't ignore this," Quil says.

"You are making this into something bigger. This is Bella and Sophie! They are human! We can't harm humans." Jacob continues to plea his objections so that Sam will see reason.

"This is their choice. Their choice affects all of us. I am not going to sit back and watch as our community is exposed to this danger. It's unnatural." Sam continues to growl at Jacob.

"We can't kill them Sam!" Jacob's had enough.

"They are dying anyway," Leah yells at Jacob. Jacob growls again and launches himself at Leah. Wanting to rip her fur out in his anger. Paul doesn't make a move towards Leah, but he growls at her comment. He snarls at her in anger.

Before Jacob can make contact with Leah, Sam knocks him away from her. Jacob rolls away and gathers himself into a crouch. He is close to lunging at his alpha.

"Stop!" Sam starts to use his alpha voice. This needed to be settled immediately. Jacob buckles under his command. "We need to resolve this quickly. We will mourn of what we do tonight." A hush comes over everyone.

"Tonight?" Seth is shocked. "Sam let's think about this. We need to discuss this with the elders."

Sam shakes his head in denial. "No. This is not up for debate. You will do as you are told Seth." Sam stands at his full height in front of the youngest shapeshifter. Seth's legs buckle underneath him. His head falls down in submission at his alpha.

Jacob buckles under Sam's command as he continues to tell everyone what they will do tonight. He orders everyone to specific people in order to make it easier to wipe everyone out. Jacob can't pay attention to any of it. His will about obeying his alpha is cracking.

Jacob decided then and there that he won't obey Sam.

Jacob stands up in front of his alpha and snarls at him.

"No." Sam yelps back in surprise at the sound of Jacob's alpha voice.

"Jacob..."

"No. I never wanted to be alpha. I always thought that the well-being of the tribe would be under you. You are wrong about this Sam. I will not harm Bella and Sophie. No matter what their choice is."

"What have you done Jacob?"

Jacob snarls at Sam in response. "I am the grandson of a chief. I was never supposed to follow you. I was never supposed to follow someone else's orders."

Jacob growls and launches himself at Sam. He knocks him down and runs away from the pack. He makes his way to Forks. Back to the Cullens.

So, thoughts? I kept going over and over with this chapter. I enjoyed going into 3rd POV for this. More drama is on the way. Until next time!
