3rd POV
Jacob continues to run. He flashes past the reservation and keeps running. Jacob hears someone behind him and thunders faster, thinking that it's someone trying to stop him.
"Hey! Wait up. I can't run as fast as you." Jacob continued to run but slowed down so that the newcomer could catch up.
"Seth! What are you doing here? Go home!"
Seth didn't say anything at first. He was too excited. "Decided to leave Sam's pack. I've got your back Jacob. I think your right."
"Seth, I'm not joking. This is no place for you. Go back to Sam."
Seth snorted at Jacob's comment. "I am not going to stand behind Sam-"
"Oh, yes you are. You are going back to La Push and doing what Sam tells you to do."
Seth falters a little but continues to run. "Is that an order Jacob?"
Jacob skids to a halt. He pauses at Seth's question as he stands beside him.
"No, I'm not ordering anybody."
"Good, because I'm joining your pack."
"Seth. I don't have a pack. It's just me."
"Great, and I've got your back." Jacob rolls his eyes at Seth's theatrics. "Don't you notice something?" continues Seth.
"Notice what?" asks Jacob.
"It's awfully quiet." Jacob blinks. Seth was right. He couldn't hear anyone else in the mind link. Just Seth. Howls filled the air so that it wasn't completely quiet. "They haven't phased back," states Seth.
Jacob knew that. Sam and everyone else in his pack would be on red alert. It was then that Jacob made a connection. Two packs aren't linked to each other. Since Seth and Jacob broke away; they could only hear each other's thoughts.
"It's kinda nice. It's really quiet. No one to bombard you with their thoughts. Two men against the world."
Jacob rolled his eyes at Seth's theatrics. "Shut up Seth." Jacob turns and continues to run towards the Cullen's.
"Yes sir. Can do."
"Stop that!"
"Roger roger." Jacob doesn't say anything else. He knows that there is no way that he will get through to Seth.
Soon, the two shapeshifters make it to the Cullen household. Jacob pauses and tries to think of what to say. Might as well just show him. Jacob and Seth both phase back and quickly put on the clothes that were tied around their ankles. Jacob was grateful that he had something on him.
Jacob walks out of the tree line until he is standing in their backyard.
Edward stands outside on the back deck.
"You've got a problem," states Jacob.
"We've got a problem," corrects Seth.
Edward looks at Jacob and Seth. He sees their memories and of what transpired between Sam. Edward's eyes harden.
"Their not going to touch them," he hisses.
"Agreed," says Jacob.
The door on the back deck opens and Emmett emerges to stand behind Edward. He scrutinizes the two of them. Edward turns to Emmett.
"Go tell the others. It's happening. The other wolves are going to try to hurt Bella and Sophie." Emmett glances up at Jacob and Seth before disappearing inside.
"I owe you a debt of gratitude Jacob," Edward tells him.
"I'm not doing this for you. It's the right thing to do." Edward nods his head in understanding.
Edward pauses. He looks to the side as Alex flashes over to stand beside him. "Emmett told me," Alex says.
Jacob takes in Alex's appearance. He looks worse.
"How are they?"
Edward groans. "Worse," he breathes out.
Alex sighs. "Sophie barricaded herself in her room a couple of hours ago. Refuses to see anyone. I'm going to see if I can get through to her." Alex glances at Edward before disappearing back into the house.
Emmett pokes his head out. "Carlisle and Esme are coming back. They went to hunt. Should be back in about 10 minutes."
Edward nods and glances around. "I'm going to get back inside. I need to stay with Bella."
"Alright. Me and Seth will patrol the area." Edward nods before heading back inside. It is then quiet once more.
Jacob turns to Seth. "I'll go west. You go east." Seth nods and the two shapeshifters quickly take off their clothes before phasing.
For the rest of the night the two wolves patrolled the area. They stayed in their wolf form. Not trusting any of the other wolves at the moment. Seth believed that Sam and the others wouldn't attack because they no longer have the element of surprise. The longer night went, Jacob started to believe him. His only wish is that he could still hear them. It was awfully quiet.
It was only in the morning when Jacob and Seth went on high alert. They both heard the thuds of paws making their way towards them. Seth started howling at the intruder.
Jacob lurched up out of his sitting position and ran towards whoever was coming.
"Morning boys." Jacob halted his footsteps. Why is she here?
"What are you doing here Leah?" Jacob was not in a happy mood.
Seth whined. "Go away Leah!" moaned Seth.
Leah then came into view and trotted over to Jacob. Seth soon joined them.
"Stop whining Seth. You're such a baby." Jacob growled at Leah's response.
"What are you doing here Leah?"
Leah huffs. "Isn't it obvious? I'm here to join you're little renegade pack. Vampire bodyguards." Leah barks a sarcastic laugh.
"No, your not. Your leaving."
"Make me. As if you can catch me." Jacob growls at her in anger.
He glances over at Seth.
"Seth, go to the Cullens. Let them know that it's a false alarm."
"On it." Seth races away, all too happy to leave.
Jacob looks back at Leah.
"What are you doing here Leah?"
"What? Do you honestly believe that I'm staying at home while my brother becomes a vampire's chew toy?"
"Seth can protect himself. You aren't wanted here." Leah huffs.
"Not being wanted is nothing new to me. I don't have to like this situation, but it's the one that I'm in. I don't have to like you, but I will follow you. I'll do whatever you want. I'll stay out of your way. Just, please don't make me go back there to constantly be reminded of being Sam's poor excuse of an ex-girlfriend that he can't get away from."
Jacob pauses and stares at the female shapeshifter. It was a surprise to everyone when she shifted. There was never any evidence of a female spirit wolf. It made it worse by the fact that she used to be in a serious relationship with Sam. They were going to get married until he phased and imprinted on Emily. It was hard for Leah to see them daily and it was hard for Sam because it reminded him of what he used to be before everything changed.
"Did Sam send you?"
Leah snorts. "Please. If he sent me then I wouldn't be able to communicate with you. I figured it out as soon you and Seth decided to leave. Besides, he doesn't even know that I've left."
As soon as the words echoed into Jacob's head, the howl of a wolf fills the air. They turn their heads towards the direction.
"Well, he does now," states Jacob. He looks over at her again. "So what, you're loyal to me now?"
Leah huffs. "Again, I don't like it but it's the hand that I've been dealt. My choices are limited. I'm not enjoying this any more than you are." Jacob could tell that what she was saying wasn't entirely true. She held a level of excitement about the situation. Jacob decided to let it go.
The two were then interrupted by the arrival of Seth. They looked at his thoughts about what transpired while he was away from them. Leah whined at what she saw. Edward looked dead on the outside. He was tormented and it worried all of them. The image of Alex wasn't that much better. Sophie was still refusing to see anyone. Tanya and Kate where berating him for his behavior.
"It's bad isn't it?" questions Seth. Jacob can only nod.
"Yeah." There is a pregnant pause between the three of them.
"Jacob. I know what his plan is. He said last night that he was going to talk to the elders but he decided that they couldn't attack because they no longer have the element of surprise. He's planning to have the others patrolling nearby. They are going to wait until one of the Cullens leave to destroy them."
"Their going to starve them out?" Leah nodded her head. He sighs. "I'll go tell them. Thanks Leah. You two continue to patrol the area. I'll come back later." The two werewolves bark and follow his orders. Jacob sighs and runs towards the house to warn the Cullens.
Little did he know, they were already prepared for this situation because of Sophie.
Sophie's POV
People have told me in my other world how stubborn and hysterical I can get. I'm being stubborn for refusing to see anyone. I just don't care anymore. From the stress of not having Alex and the fact that I can't get any nutrients into my body. It's taking a toll on me. I've stayed in my room for a day. I refused to see anybody.
Alex came to me a couple of times but I just ignored him. He gave up for the time being, but I know that he will come back. He always does. I've only left my room to use the bathroom and quickly shower. I let Kate and Tanya help me, but that was only because I was unable to do it by myself. I didn't say a word to them though.
They could tell how miserable I am. It was as if I had a schedule now. Lay and wallow in misery in my bedroom; go to the bathroom; wallow in misery again; take a shower; and then go to bed. I haven't mentioned to anyone to stop yelling when I'm trying to sleep. I could hear Kate and Tanya screaming at Alex about the treatment he's been giving me. Kate actually told him that she was going to kick his ass if he didn't step up. I think she actually used her electrocuting power on him once.
I sigh as I look out of my window and stare into the trees. Everything looked peaceful, as if nothing bad was going on. I overheard Jacob coming into the house a couple of hours ago to warn everyone about Sam's plan.
He was surprised that they were already prepared for that situation. He didn't realize that my family had stored enough animal blood to last all of them two to three months. I knew that the taste wasn't as appealing because it wasn't fresh but it was what we had to do. I'm glad that I warned them so none of them would starve.
I numbly look over at the clock on my bedside table. It was 4 pm currently. I sigh and wait for Kate and Tanya to arrive. They come around this time to help me bathe.
On cue, the door opens. I sigh and know that I've been acting irrationally. They've been helping me and I need to talk to them, instead of ignoring them.
"Hey. I want to apologize..." I stop when I turn to look at the door. Kate and Tanya are not standing in the doorway. Standing right in front of me, is Alex. He looks at me in agony. I freeze at the sight of him. I would be lying if I said that I didn't miss him. "Oh. I thought you were Kate and Tanya." I continue to sit on my bed as I stare into the eyes of the man that I love.
Alex sighs and walks over to me. "I should be the one apologizing. I haven't been very supportive lately." I purse my lips. That is an understatement. Alex looks at me and softly sits down next to me. "You're right to be angry at me. I deserve it."
I sigh. "Yes, I have been angry but I never wanted to hurt you. Sorry about my outburst." Alex starts to shake his head in response.
"Don't be sorry about that. You had every right to be angry at me. I'm fine. I keep forgetting about your weirdness."
I start to giggle. "I think the baby is affecting it. It's becoming more spontaneous. Haven't been able to contain my emotions very well either."
"Well. They always did say that pregnancy hormones are the worst." I start laughing at Alex's comment. For a moment, all of my anger washes away. I was sitting beside the man who I fell in love with.
I groan at a kick to my ribs. Baby was getting stronger. I feel Alex go rigid beside me. I sigh. I guess our happy moment is gone.
"Here. Let me help you take a shower," says Alex. I look up at him shock.
"Really?" He gives me a sad smile.
"Of course. I haven't been very supportive. It does take two people to make a baby. I'm still not thrilled with all of this but I will help you through this. I haven't been here for you but I will be now. I will make sure nothing happens to you. We'll find someway to get nutrients to you somehow."
Tears leak out of my eyes. His words makes my heart flutter. I missed him during these past couple of weeks. I give him a smile. "Thank you."
Alex helps me stand up. I groan at all the weight that I've gained because of the pregnancy. "Careful," he tells me.
I huff. "Maybe we shouldn't have gone at it like rabbits. Then I wouldn't look like a swollen balloon."
Alex chuckles at my comment. "Maybe. But your my swollen balloon." I smile at him as he helps me towards the bathroom. We just made it to the entrance when a noise catches our attention. We hear yelling and what sounds like a crash. We both look over in confusion. It's coming from the back yard.
I take steps towards the stairs, wanting to know what was going on. "Hey. I don't know what's going on out there but I don't think it's a good idea for you to go down the stairs." I give my boyfriend a look.
"Then take me downstairs. Something is going on and I need to know what it is. It sounds serious."
"Sophie..."
"It's either you help me downstairs or I go down myself." I give him a withering look before he sighs.
I hold onto him as he gathers me into his arms. He quickly makes it down the stairs and places me on my feet. I walk towards the door that leads to our backyard. Well, more like waddling to the backdoor.
Alex is in front of me and gets to the door first. He freezes and then quickly turns to me. "Let's go Sophie. You need to take your shower."
"What? No, what's going on?"
Alex tries to gently push me back. "Don't go out there Sophie. You can't. It's too dangerous."
I look at him incredulously. "What? Too dangerous. Now I'm really going out there." I push Alex out of the way and march outside. I hear a sigh from him. Guess he didn't want to fight me.
The scene I saw before me caused me to freeze. Everyone was outside. Rosalie was holding onto Bella.
The scene I saw before me looked as if it was coming out of a movie. Two people stood in the middle facing each other. Both of them were shouting and trying to get to the other. Kate and Tanya was holding one back while Jacob and Seth was holding the other one back.
Leah was standing in front of Jacob in wolf form while Emmett and Jasper stood in front of Kate and Tanya. Edward was hovering over Bella with his back turned towards her. Esme made her way over and stood next to me when I came outside. I noticed that Carlisle, Carmen, and Eleazer were trying to talk to the two people in order to calm them down.
I paused because there were two new people that have arrived. Alex quickly came to my side and held onto me. I didn't know what to say about what I was looking at. I was shocked.
Standing before me was none other than Irina. Kate and Tanya were holding her back. I was hoping that she would come but I never thought it would turn out like this. I look over at the other person and gasp. What were they doing here?"
Everyone freezes and looks over in my direction. Everyone becomes still. I look over at Irina and she looks like a deer in headlights.
Her eyes scan up and down my body. She opens her mouth in shock but quickly closes it.
"Irina?" I manage to rasp out. She looks like she wants to say something but she doesn't. She just stares at me. It was as if the fight had paused. Kate and Tanya loosen their grip on Irina but they don't let her go. Jacob and Seth do the same for the other person.
I turn and stare at the new arrival. I squint to make sure what I was seeing was correct. I couldn't stop myself from blurting out the first thing that came to my mind.
"What the hell are you doing here Paul?"
So I am so excited about what is going to be happening soon. I have so many ideas and I cannot wait to write about it. What do you think about the arrival of Irina and Paul?
