Standing before me was none other than Irina. Kate and Tanya were holding her back. I was hoping that she would come but I never thought it would turn out like this. I look over at the other person and gasp. What were they doing here?

Everyone freezes and looks over in my direction. Everyone becomes still. I look over at Irina and she looks like a deer in headlights.

Her eyes scan up and down my body. She opens her mouth in shock but quickly closes it.

"Irina?" I manage to rasp out. She looks like she wants to say something but she doesn't. She just stares at me. It was as if the fight had paused. Kate and Tanya loosen their grip on Irina but they don't let her go. Jacob and Seth do the same for the other person.

I turn and stare at the new arrival. I squint to make sure what I was seeing was correct. I couldn't stop myself from blurting out the first thing that came to my mind.

"What the hell are you doing here Paul?"

Sophie's POV

I was flabbergasted as to why Paul of all people would be here. He was supposed to be supporting Sam on destroying the babies. Paul doesn't say anything as he stares at me. I know that I look bad.

"You look terrible," he says bluntly.

I give him the best glare that I can muster. "If all you are going to be doing is insult me, then you can leave."

Paul gives me a smirk. "No can do princess."

I glare at him as Alex growls. "What are you even doing here? Shouldn't you be standing with Sam on this matter?"

Paul exhales. "Yeah. I should." I squint at him in suspicion.

"So what. You left his pack and joined Jacob's?"

Paul lets out a bark of a laugh. "Yeah right. Like I would ever join this little renegade group."

Jacob keeps his grip on Paul's shirt as he stares at him. "No, he hasn't switched packs. I can't hear his thoughts. He still belongs to Sam."

I look over and observe how Irina looks at me. She then turns her eyes and glares at Paul. "You need to go mutt."

Paul growls at her. "Watch it leech." The two of them make a move towards each other but are held back by Tanya, Kate, Jacob and Seth.

"Will someone please tell me what the hell is going on? When did you two even get here?" I exclaim.

"They both got here about ten minutes ago. Me and Seth caught Paul coming onto your land. Blondie over here came soon after. They went ballistic when they saw each other," says Jacob.

"We heard the yelling and came out to see Irina and Paul trying to attack each other," explains Edward.

I look at Irina. "How did you manage to get over here? Aren't the wolves patrolling the area? No one is able to leave." No one should be able to get in either.

"I was running here when I noticed a bunch of them chasing me. I hopped into the trees and was able to get here that way. Once I noticed that they had left, I jumped down and ran the rest of the way here. I just got into the clearing when the mutt over here walked in with these other two behind him."

"You walked in?" I questioned Paul.

Paul huffs. "I was cornered by these three and phased since they couldn't hear me anymore. Talked to them and they led me here. Wanted to talk. Blondie was here and I snapped. Still don't forgive her for what happened at the wedding." I sigh. Paul really knows how to hold a grudge.

"I came here to apologize for what happened. My anger only came out when I saw him trying to bite my head off," says Irina. I sigh and groan as the baby kicks me again. Arms circle around me so that I don't fall over.

Irina's eyes soften and her anger is replaced with worry. "I got your call. You said that it was urgent. I can see why. How is this even possible?" I glance at Tanya and Kate.

"Do you guys mind taking her inside and filling her in with everything." I stare at Kate and she makes the connection of what I am telling her. Tanya and Kate need to tell her everything. From the pregnancy; to the fact that I'm from another universe.

"Of course," replies Tanya. "Come on Irina. There's a lot that you need to know." Irina glances at me one last time before walking inside. I look at Rosalie as she guides Bella inside the house. Everyone else starts to go back inside as well.

I place my hand on Alex's chest. Telling him to stay outside with me. Only seconds pass and the only people left outside are me, Alex, Emmett, Leah, Jacob, Seth and Paul. I'm glad that Emmett is here. Everyone relaxes but Emmett places himself in front of me while Alex holds me in his arms.

"Paul. What are you doing here? I need to know. You should be with Sam on this whole ordeal."

"Trust me, I know. If it was only Bella then I would be." Paul ignores Jacob's growl. "Don't worry, I'm not. I'm having a hard time because you are part of this also. I was able to calm Sam down." I looked at him quizzically.

"How?"

"I made a deal with him. He agrees not to attack, but only if I'm here to watch over you." Growls fill the air.

"Absolutely not," growls Alex.

"There is no way you're staying here," agrees Jacob. Paul turns his head and glares at Jacob.

"You might want to rethink that. His other idea is to just attack all of you. He doesn't care that all of you are aware of this. It will be deaths on both sides. He wants to avoid that because he doesn't want to lose any of the spirit wolves."

"It might be a trick," says Emmett.

"It's not." We all turn to look at Edward. I didn't hear him coming outside. "What he's saying is true."

"I'm here to keep watch and fill Sam in every night. First sign of an issue and he will attack. That's the decision he's made."

"Is there another option?" I grumble under my breath. I'm not thrilled that he's here.

"No, there's not. You're stuck with me princess." Paul smirks at me.

I groan. "Great." I groan at another kick and Alex picks me up in his arms.

"Come on. Let's get you inside. You need to shower anyways." I nod. Emmett and Edward head inside first. I glance at Paul one last time and he looks worried.

"Bella looks bad but you are a whole lot worse. Why do you look like an undead zombie?" Paul questions. Alex pauses. He looks down at me in anguish.

"I'm not able to keep anything down. Nothing is working. Bella is able to get nutrients but I'm not able to."

"How..." Alex sends him a glare.

"Don't worry about that. We've got this covered." Alex doesn't wait for a reply and takes me back inside. Leaving Paul, Leah, Jacob and Seth outside.

3rd POV

Jacob glares at Paul once the door shuts. He doesn't trust him.

Jacob and Seth let go of their grip on Paul and take a couple of steps back. Leah stays in her wolf form.

"Sam agreed on not attacking as long as you watch over everyone?"

Paul stuffs his hands in his pockets. "Yep. Pretty much."

"I don't buy it." Jacob says bluntly.

Paul just huffs. "Well, it's the truth. The mind reader even confirmed it. Showed him the whole deal and everything."

"So, you're Sam's watchdog now?" Jacob hisses.

Paul growls and starts to shake. "I am no one's watchdog Black. I am just here to keep tabs on Bella and Sophie."

"Calm down Paul," says Seth. Paul breathes in and stops to shake.

"I still don't buy it," replies Jacob as he folds his arms over his chest.

"You don't have to. You don't even have to like it but it's the truth. I'm not going to harm them." For now anyways, thinks Paul.

Jacob stares at Paul and then looks at Leah and Seth. Leah, who has not phased back yet, only nods her head. Telling him that she believes him. Seth nods also. All of them are still on edge though.

Jacob sighs in defeat. "Fine," he finally says. "You can stay, but don't think we won't be watching. Someone will keep an eye on you. We will also follow you to the line when you go to meet Sam. I still don't trust it." Paul can only nod. Good enough.

"Fine." Paul watches as Jacob instructs Leah and Seth on what to do. He can't help but to think about Jacob's new role as an alpha. He doesn't like him but he can't help but to think how well that he's fit into the role. He was always meant to be an alpha. It was always in his blood. Jacob looks at Paul once Leah and Seth leave.

"Don't get too comfortable Paul." Paul grins at Jacob as he sits on the steps of the back porch.

"Wouldn't have it any other way Black."

Sophie's POV

The rest of the day flies by until it is soon morning. I was exhausted after my shower, so Alex helped me go to bed. He stayed with me the whole night. I've started to relax more. I had him back with me. I wasn't crying and depressed like I was before. The only thing that still scared me was that I still couldn't drink any blood.

I could tell that Alex was growing more concerned also.

I sigh as Alex helps me down on the couch. "Thank you." He smiles.

"Can I get you anything?"

"Just a blanket please." I was getting cold. He strokes my face and smile.

"Of course. I'll be right back." A chill comes over me once he leaves. I rub my hands up and down my arms.

"Here." I look up as a wool blanket is softly draped on top of me. Irina smiles at me softly and sits down gently.

"Thank you." I pause and look at her. "I'm glad you're here. I honestly didn't think you would come." Irina sighs.

"Neither did I. Something told me I needed to. Tanya's voicemail was very convincing too. I can see why." Her eyes scan over me.

"Did they tell you everything?" She nods at my question.

"Yes, they did. It's honestly hard to believe. It's interesting really." I hum in response.

"I wish I could have told it to you myself."

"It's fine. So. What you said about Laurent is true? He came back to kill Bella?" I look at her. She looks sad. I feel terrible that she's feeling this way.

"Yes. I'm sorry."

"Don't worry about it. He made a decision that ultimately got him killed. I'll be fine." She pauses. "What's it like?" I look at her in confusion.

"What do you mean?"

"Being pregnant. Out of all the possibilities of what could be happening to you, I never thought this would be one of them."

"You and me both. I knew it would happen to Bella but never to me. I was never even supposed to have children."

"Is that why..." I understand her unanswered question.

"I believe so, yes. Bella's able to drink the blood given to her. Not the most pleasant but she says that it tastes good. I can't keep it down though. The baby doesn't want blood or food. I honestly don't know what it wants." I groan at a kick to my ribs.

Irina clutches my arm in her hand softly. "We'll figure out something for you Soph." I smile at her weakly.

"I really am happy that you're here. I know that I'm not a pretty sight but I wanted you to see me like this. Being pregnant."

"In the story, I only see Bella's child once it's born. Bella is already a vampire so I assume the worse."

I glance at Irina. I'm glad that we are having this conversation. "Yes. You assume that the child is an immortal child which dooms everyone. I want to prevent not only the Volturi's arrival but your death too. You helped raise me. I don't want you to be killed."

"Well. You won't lose me. I'm standing behind you on this." I smile at her weakly.

"Thank you."

"Hopefully, two blankets will keep you warm." Alex enters the room and places a blanket on top of the one that I have wrapped around me. I smile at him in gratitude.

"Man. This place is depressing." My head snaps up and I stare as Paul walks up the stairs and into the room.

Irina growls at him. "What the hell are you doing in here? Go away you mutt."

"Sam wants me to keep tabs on her. So I am."

"Over my dead body," she hisses at him.

"Well seeing as you're already dead..." Irina practically screeches and starts to lunge at him. A flash moves before me and I see Emmett dragging her away from Paul.

"Let go of me Emmett. I'm going to sink my claws into him." She thrashes in his arms but he tightens his hold on her.

"Sorry Irina. You could accidentally hurt Sophie and Bella." Irina growls but relaxes a little at the sound of my name. She didn't want me to get hurt. I watch as Emmett drags her to the back of the room.

Everyone else soon joins us. Hearing the whole ordeal. Alex stays by my side. I watch as Rosalie sets Bella on the other couch that was added to the room recently.

I huff in annoyance and glanced at Paul. He was beyond annoying. "Go away Paul," I groan as I feel another kick to my ribs.

I shiver underneath both of the blankets. I'm still cold.

"I got it," says Paul. Before I an say anything, Paul sits down next to me and throws his arm around my shoulder. I tense underneath the contact but soon relax at the warmth the comes over my body.

Alex growls in response. "Get your arms off of her." Pauls head flashes to Alex.

"Make me fangy," he hisses at him. More growls greet his comment.

"Both of you please stop it. I'm not thrilled with this either but fighting it's going to do us any good. Just, can we have a cease fire please? For me and Bella's sake." I managed to sound strong for once.

I hear a bunch of sighs. "Fine," says Paul.

"Ok. Just watch what you do Lahote," hisses Alex. Paul just gives a grunt in reply.

A wave of nausea comes over me and before I know it, the trashcan situated on the far wall flies into my hands just in time for me to throw up in it.

A feel Paul jump beside me. "Woah! When did this start happening?" I glance at him and to everyone else in the room. The only two people who looked surprised where Paul, Jacob, and Irina. My power never really showed when I was around the shapeshifters so I believe they are unprepared for it. Irina only saw it once but didn't know what to make of it.

"A while. Sophie has this power that acts as a defense for her. Whenever she's in distress, an energy projects out so no one can touch her." Carlisle sighs and comes to look me over once I was finished throwing up.

"The wedding." Every eye turns to Irina. "When we were fighting. Something knocked me away from you. It was that wasn't it." I numbly nod.

"Whenever I sense that I'm in danger, this energy comes out of my body and knocks everyone off of me. It's happened before. It happened in Italy when Jane was using her power on me; it happened when Victoria tried to kill me; it happened when Alex tried to turn me because he was afraid I would succumb to my injuries inflicted from Victoria. It's gotten worse with this pregnancy. My hormones are all over the place so one single outburst can cause it to come out."

"He tried to what!" Paul started glaring at Alex.

"Shut up Paul. He didn't go through with it. I'm still human." I groan at another kick. The kicks are starting to get worse.

"I knew you were weird but man. This is something new entirely." I ignore Paul's comment as I throw up again.

"We need to find out someway to give her nutrients. She's getting worse," says Esme.

I sigh in exasperation. How? We've tried everything. Edward then comes out with Bella's styrofoam cup of blood. She takes it and starts drinking. Jacob who sits next to her jerks back.

"What the hell is that?"

"It's for the baby," Bella tells him as she continues to drink. Paul wrinkles his nose.

"Is that what I think it is?" The two shapeshifters look at the cup in disgust.

"It's the only thing the baby wants. It's keeping her strong," I reply.

"Why aren't you drinking one?" questions Jacob.

"It doesn't work for Sophie. Everytime she tried drinking it, she throws it up. Bella being able to drink blood is keeping her heart and pulse up. Sophie looks worse because she hasn't been able to eat or drink anything," responds Alex.

Alex looks at me in anguish and softly holds my hand. I smile in pain from the constant movement of the baby.

I look up just in time as Edward stares at Paul. "I never thought of that. You might be right." Paul looks at Edward in confusion.

"What?"

"Everyone, Paul just had an idea." Realization flashes into Paul's eyes.

"It wasn't an idea. More like a snide comment." I look at him. What was he thinking about?

"What did you think Paul? Please tell us," begs Alex. He's desperate for anything at the moment.

"I thought how it was a picky eater and only wanted certain people to sink its teeth into." Realization slowly dawns on me. It was being picky. I look over at Carlisle.

"It's thirsty." Carlisle quickly walks to the blood supply refrigerator that was laid out for me and Bella.

"Sophie, you remember your blood type correct?"

I nod. "Yeah, it's B-."

"Of course you would have one of the rarest blood types," interjects Paul. I just ignore him.

"Your blood type is only compatible with O- and B-," says Carlisle. He quickly scours through the many bags of blood.

"But, wouldn't I have had at least one of the O- bags?" I question him. Carlisle nods as he takes out a blood bag.

"Yes but maybe it's being very particular. Maybe it only wants your precise blood type. I don't believe that you've tried this blood type yet because of how rare it is." Of course. It all makes sense now. The baby only wanted my certain blood type.

"Why is it picky? It's not for Bella," interjects Jacob. I watch as Alex goes over to Carlisle and helps him pour the blood into a cup. I wordlessly watch them as Carlisle places the lid on top and puts a straw through it. Alex quickly makes his way over towards me.

"I was never supposed to be pregnant. Probably has a mind of its own." I smile at Alex as he places the cup into my hand.

I feel Paul jerk away from me. "Wait, wait. Your going to make her drink that!"

"How else is she able to get it?" Alex snaps at Paul.

"Ugh. I think I'm going to be sick." Paul scoots as far away from me as possible.

I glance at Alex and to everyone around me. I let out a breath. Here goes nothing. "Bottom's up," I say as I raise the cup in the air. Alex chuckles as I place the straw into my mouth.

I slowly start to drink. I'm scared that I'm not going to be able to keep the blood down. I take a couple of more sips and pause. I look at the cup and then at my topaz eyed boyfriend. "It's good," I manage to rasp out. It was. The blood was sweet. It almost tastes like juice.

Alex starts to smile. I smile again and continue to drink the blood. It was actually working. I continue to drink as Carlisle gently takes my wrist to check my pulse.

"Your pulse is getting stronger Sophie."

"It's working. It's actually working," says Carmen. I smile at my family and continue to drink the B- blood.

Maybe I would be surviving this after all.

So, thoughts. What do you guys think about this chapter? I wanted Sophie's pregnancy to be a little bit more unpredictable. I hope you are enjoying this. What are your thoughts on Paul being more present in this story? I love his interactions with Sophie. Also, what gender do you think her baby should be? Or would you want her to have more than one baby? Please tell me your thoughts. Until next time!
