Warning. This chapter is a little graphic. You have been warned.
3rd POV
Yelling filled the Cullen household. Bella was taken to the makeshift delivery room. Which was in the library. While Carlisle, Edward, Rosalie, and Jacob took care of Bella; Alex ran Sophie into another room. Tanya, Kate, and Irina were right there with him.
Alex took her into Carlisle's study which was going to serve as another delivery room. Carlisle had set up two different delivery rooms in case Sophie and Bella gave birth at the same time. It would be too hectic if they were both in the same room. He had hoped it wouldn't come down to this because he could only be with one of them.
Carlisle was conflicted but he was already with Bella. He helped raise Sophie; she was his daughter; she's been his daughter since she was six years old. Carlisle started to work quickly so that he could get to Sophie before she delivers. He just hoped that she could hold out long enough.
Alex layed Sophie onto the delivery table and watched as she started to convulse. They quickly took her clothes off and watched as they saw movement coming from underneath her skin. They watched as the skin started to stretch and an image of a handprint came into view. Alex has seen her naked body before, but it looked nothing like this. This was a new experience entirely. He had no words.
Alex froze as he heard more of her bones snapping. He watched as her body contorted in an unnatural position. Sophie let out a blood curdling scream that caused the four vampires in the room with her to wince. Alex quickly shook his head. He couldn't think about this right now. He needed to help Sophie.
"Irina, get me the morphine!" he shouts. Irina flies over and grabs a syringe and quickly stabs it into her arm.
"Alex, what's happening?" questions Tanya.
"The placentas must have detached. We need to get them out. Someone call Carlisle."
Kate quickly dials Carlisle's number as Sophie screams again.
"Get them out now! They can't breathe! DO IT NOW!" Sophie manages to scream out.
"Sophie, the morphine..." Tanya starts to protest.
"NO! I don't care. They're dying. Do it NOW!" Sophie screams as she starts spitting up blood. Kate quickly spoke to Carlisle and picked up a scalpel. She hands the phone to Tanya.
"No! We have to let the morphine spread," protests Alex.
"There's no time! It has to happen now! Or you're going to lose all three of them!" Alex freezes at her statement and looks at Sophie in torment. He wanted this to be as painless as possible but he knew that wasn't possible at this point. He couldn't lose them. Especially not Sophie.
He nodded and Kate dove the scalpel onto Sophie's stomach. She pierced the skin and Sophie jerked at the sensation. Sophie continued to spit up blood.
Kate pulled the scalpel back and paused. She stared at the blood and inhaled sharply. Kate's been feeding on the animal blood like everyone else, but the blood has been stored in bags.
Everyone has been drinking out of them. They even started to drink from the bags before the wolves found out. So that they could become accustomed to the taste of stored blood. It wasn't appealing but it held them over. However, the smell of fresh blood overpowered Kate's senses. She was suddenly hungry.
Kate started to snarl and Sophie looked up at her. Her golden eyes soon turn pitch black.
"Kate, no!" Alex leapt over the table and tackled Kate away from Sophie. He pushed her back towards the door. Kate didn't even struggle against Alex. She wanted to be taken out of the room. She didn't want to hurt Sophie.
Irina and Tanya both grabbed her and Tanya ushered her out. Tanya left the room to keep an eye on Kate while Irina stayed back to help Alex. She quickly talked to Carlisle over the phone and relayed his directions to Alex. Sophie screamed just as the door into the room opened.
Sophie started to panic about her children. They could be dying right now. All of her efforts to protect them and keep them safe were slipping away from her. Energy burst out of Sophie and slammed into Alex, Irina, and the newest arrival. Who just so happened to be Paul. All three of them collided into the wall and they all groaned.
"What the hell is going on?" he groaned.
Alex growled and stared at him in anger. "What are you doing here mutt?" Alex stood up and grabbed Paul by the collar of his shirt. He slammed him against the wall and snarled in his face.
Paul glared at him and growled back. "I came to make sure that she was ok. I heard her scream and came in here."
"You are not welcome here. Something is obviously being planned. Go before I rip you to shreds." Paul starts shaking.
"I would like to see you try." A wail from Sophie brought them to a pause.
"Both of you stop it! This is not helping Sophie. We need to get them out now! We will deal with this later. There's no time for this!" Irina started to shout at them. Alex and Paul knew that she was right. They needed to help Sophie. They had to put their differences aside for the time being.
They all went back to Sophie just as another snap greeted their ears. Her whole body stills as her face shows the amount of pain she's in.
"Her spine," Paul chokes out in horror.
"Get them out. Please," Sophie manages to rasp out. She's starting to use the last of her strength. Alex can hear her heart starting to slow down and starts to act fast.
Carlisle would know what to do but he wasn't here. He was helping Bella and Alex didn't know at what stage Bella was in right now.
Alex took the scalpel and tried to make the incision bigger but was having a difficult time. Her skin had hardened because the babies had rock hard skin like their father. He knew what he had to do in order to get them out. He just hopes that Sophie can forgive him for this. "Paul, I need you. Both of you hold her down for me." Paul instantly understood what was about to happen.
It was at this moment that Paul was scared. He has never seen anything like this before. He probably wouldn't see anything like this again. He hoped he wouldn't have to ever see something like this. It was unnatural. There were no words for this.
"Sophie, keep your eyes on me," he tells her. Sophie's gaze flickered to Paul.
"Paul," she groans out.
"Hey hey. I'm here. I need you to stay with me. Just keep looking at me." Sophie nods and takes a breath.
Irina glances at Alex and holds her arm down. Paul places his hand on her other shoulder. Alex stared at the love of his life once last time before placing his mouth at her stomach.
Paul hears the sounds of crunching metal and Sophie screams again. Her blood curdling scream echoes throughout the room and into the hallway. She starts to struggle but Paul and Irina hold her down as Alex continues to use his vampire teeth in order to cut through the vampire like skin.
Paul noticed how Sophie's heart started to slow down more. "I almost have them! Paul, keep her heart beating," yells Alex.
Alex continues to use his teeth as Paul starts to use CPR on the human girl. "Sophie, you stay will me. You keep your heart beating." Sophie stills and lets out a breath at the sound of a baby crying. She breathes and looks over at Alex.
Sophie smiles tiredly. Her mate was holding a little baby in his arms. It was so small. "It's a boy," says Alex. Sophie lets out a small giggle. Alex steps closer so that she can see the baby clearer.
"He's beautiful," she whispers. Sophie then lets out another scream as she feels the movement continue. Irina quickly takes the baby into her arms just as a small fist comes into view.
Paul's eyes widen in horror. The baby was trying to crawl out of Sophie's stomach.
Alex doesn't hesitate as he puts his hands back into Sophie's abdomen to take their other child out. Sophie cries in pain at the sensation until Alex pulls their other child out.
A small cry fills the air. Sophie turns her head as Alex comes closer to her. "It's a girl," Alex tells her.
Sophie and Alex had a boy and a girl. Sophie couldn't help but to admire the small little bundles. Paul takes a couple of steps back and Irina comes closer with the little boy.
"What do you want to name them?" asks Irina.
Sophie ponders for a moment. She never really thought about names. She's played around with some but she didn't know what the names should be now. She only had one name really set in stone.
"Xander. For the boy. After his father," she rasps out. Alex gives her a breathtaking smile. His love for her continued to grow.
"What about for the girl?"
Sophie pauses and thinks. The girls name was hardest for her. She couldn't decide on what name it should be. Sophie's body started to grow weaker and she couldn't think straight. Her mind was becoming a cloud. "You name her," she told Alex. "I named the boy. You name our daughter."
If Alex could, he would probably be crying tears of joy. He never thought that he would become a father. He didn't know that this was even possible. The fact that Sophie wanted him to name her just proved to him how forgiving and pure she was. He abandoned her because of her decision and he regrets it as he looks at his children. The two of them are miracles.
"How about Eleanor? Ellie for short. I've always liked that name," he tells her. Sophie smiles at him weakly.
"Ellie. I like that."
Sophie reached out and touched Ellie and Xander with her hands. She caresses their little heads and smiles at them adoringly. She smiles one more time before starting to go still. She gasped and everyone heard how her heart was starting to stop beating.
Sophie's head goes to the side and she goes limp. Her arms fall to her side. Her lips part and her eyes remain open as the last breath escapes from her lips.
Fear overcomes Alex. No.
Paul quickly goes to Sophie and continues to do CPR on her. She doesn't give a response. Alex looks over at Irina for help.
Irina quickly takes Ellie into her other arm and leaves the room. She needed to give them space in order for them to save Sophie.
"Sophie. No, no, no. Don't leave me. Don't you dare leave me," Alex growls out.
Alex flies over to the table that holds another syringe. This one is filled with something that looks like liquid silver.
He quickly goes back to Sophie and sees how her head rolled to the side with her eyes wide open.
"What is that?" questions Paul.
"My venom," Alex says right before he plunges it into her heart. He takes the syringe out and waits for her to start screaming in pain. Nothing comes out of her mouth. Her face remains expressionless. "Please don't leave me," he whispers to her.
Paul starts to slow down his process and backs away. Alex shakes his head and starts to bite her. To inject more of his venom.
Alex makes quick work at biting her arms, wrists, neck, and legs. He would bite and lick over the wound so that it would seal shut. To keep the venom in her system.
Alex starts CPR on her. No matter how hard Alex was working on her, she wasn't giving them a response. Her head remained to the side with her eyes wide open.
Alex wanted to cry. He couldn't lose her but nothing was happening. He gave her enough venom that she should be changing right now, but nothing was happening.
Paul comes to one conclusion; they were too late. Sophie Cullen was dead.
So...cliffhanger. Haha. Please don't be mad at me. All will be revealed in the next chapter. Trust me, you will want to read it. Until next time!
