A Former Jedi's Sorrow.

The mission of Azeroth was progressing slowly, so far there were no leads on who was spreading the plague, but Arthas was dead set on finding whoever it was and make them pay. Jaina was prepared to help him in anyway she can, but Nova was growing more and more uneasy with Arthas' growing anger. She went back to her ship, hoping to spend some time with Lena would make her feel better. However as she got inside she noticed a clearly upset Lena sitting by the table. Before Nova could ask what was wrong, she noticed there was a box on the table. There was something inside it, something familiar... very familiar.

"Lena?" Nova spoke, making Lena jump in surprise.

"Nova! I-I didn't notice you were back. I was just cleaning up some stuff" Lena said as she quickly tried to close the box.

But Nova was having non of it and thanks to her training, she managed to snatch the box from Lena's hands and looked inside to see... Something that shocked her. She looked at Lena who was looking away in great shame. Nova looked between the box and Lena several times... There was a lightsaber inside the box. But that didn't make sense, why would Lena have a lightsaber? Unless she was...

"Lena... you are a jedi?" Nova asked.

"No... I mean, I was" Lena answered.

Nova gave her a hard look "Lena, you've been keeping some really important secrets from me. Tell me who you really are, now".

Lena sighed and sat down "I knew I would have to tell you one day, sit down it's a long story".

Nova sat down, she was going to make sure Lena told her everything.

"Yes, I used to be a jedi. Like most other jedi, I was brought to the temple when I was young and began my training. After a while, I was picked to be the Padawan of Master Angela Ziegler, she was only 11 years older than me and wasn't even a master yet, but she was already wise and mature enough to take on a Padawan... And she was very eager to teach" Lena said with a small smile, remembering her master... someone she hadn't seen in a while.

"I've heard about her. But isn't she mainly a healer? She isn't really known for her skills in combat" Nova said.

"She was good enough to teach me the basics, but you're right, combat wasn't her main focus. So she had her friend Genji Shimada help out with my lightsaber training. Guess you could say I had two masters, though Angela was my true master" Lena said.

"Sounds like you had it good... So why aren't you a jedi anymore?" Nova asked.

Lena looked down, now for the hard part "I... fell in love...".

"You mean... I'm not your first love?" Nova asked, sounding hurt.

"He name was Emily... I'm sorry, I should've told you... But I've spent so much time trying to just forget and move on from my past... But I keep remembering that night..." Lena said.

"What night?" Nova asked.

"The night I failed and lost my heart... It happened 8 years ago..." Lena began explaining.

Flash Back.

8 years ago, a younger Lena was walking through a crowd. She had been tasked with being a body guard to a Senator who was making a speech about stopping crime syndicates from gaining more power in the now war torn Galaxy. This would make him a very big target for said criminals, who would more than likely hire an assassin or bounty hunter to kill him. As Lena listened to the speech she suddenly felt a hand on her butt. She was about to get mad until she heard an familiar voice.

"Hello there love, surprised to see you here" Came the voice of her beautiful girlfriend Emily.

Lena sighed in relief "Give me a heart attack why don't you? But yeah I'm here on a mission, I was planning on visiting you once I had time".

"Here to guard that Senator? Heard he's making life hard for the crime syndicates" Emily said.

"Indeed, hopefully crime rates will drop if he gets his way. We all know we could use some peace and quiet for a while" Lena said.

Emily nodded in agreement "So... have you told anyone about us?".

Lena sighed, knowing that question was coming "No... As you know, jedi aren't even supposed to fall in love, I've already broken several rules. If the council found out, I would either be forced to leave you or risk being expelled from the order... I love you, but the jedi is my life... How do I choose between you and them...?".

Emily takes her hand "Hopefully you won't need to choose. But know that I will always support you, no matter what".

Lena smiled and they kissed... Until Lena sensed something and began looking around.

"What's wrong?" Emily asked.

"I sense something. You should get to safety, I have a bad feeling about this" Lena said as she leaves the crowd and Emily looked worried.

Several security guards patrol the rood, armed with blasters. One stops to listen to his earpiece. Suddenly a grappling hook hits the wall next to him, then a blue skinned woman runs at him and chokes him with the cord. As he's down, she hits him with the butt of her blaster rifle. She scopes in and aims at the Senator, but notices blue flashes in her peripheral vision. Lena appears, her lightsaber activated.

"Here to do the dirty work of some criminals? Sorry, ain't happening love" Lena said with a confidant smirk.

The woman looked annoyed and began firing her rifle at Lena who quickly deflects them with her lightsaber before rushing in, aiming to destroy the woman's weapon in one quick strike. The woman grapples up a wall, kicking Lena on her way up, then firing at her and Lena was force to combine dodging along with deflecting. Whoever this woman was, she was good, very good. The security guards would have no chance to stop her.

"The Senator is in danger! Shooter on the roof! I repeat, shooter on the roof!" Lena said in to her com link, as she gave chance after the woman.

"All rooftop teams: check and clear. The Senator is leaving, I repeat, the Senator is leaving" A security guard alerted as he approaches the senator in mid-speech "Sir, there's been a breach. We need to leave now".

Meanwhile the assassin fires at Lena then jumps off the roof. Lena rushes after her, knowing if she lost track of the assassin, the senator was as good as dead. The woman uses her grappling hook to land on top of security guard. She rolls into another and knocks him down with a kick to his legs. She sprints and jumps onto another guard on another rooftop, firing behind her the whole time. She shoots down another guard while kicking one of the roof. She then turns to fire back at more guards. She puts on her mask to scan the area, locating the Senator as he is ushered through the crowd. She jumps across more rooftops, now pursued by Lena. She plants a Mine behind a wall, which Lena runs past and activates. She gets caught in its fumes and falls to the ground, coughing.

The woman stands on top of her, pointing her rifle at her face "Such a sweet, foolish girl. You jedi are so predictable".

"You're right. I am a jedi" Lena said as she forced pushed the woman off her.

Still hazy from the gass, Lena does her best to focus as she strikes at the woman who avoids her slowed down saber strikes and kicks her in the gut. Lena coughed but wasn't going to give up as she deflects some blaster bolts, but one hits her in the shoulder, causing her to drop her saber. She looks up in worry as the woman smiles coldly at her, but instead of shooting her, she kicked her hard in the face briefly knocking her out.

"The party is over, darling. Now you will know what failure feels like" The Woman said as she finally had a clear shot at the Senator and fired... only for someone to jump in the way of her bolt "Blast it!".

Lena had recovered and quickly used the force to pull her lightsaber back to her hand. The Woman heard the saber turn on and turned around just in time to have her rifle cut in half before Lena forced pushed her to the ground before quickly getting on top of her, with her lightsaber dangerously close to her neck. The effects of the venom mine had worn of, Lena was really thankful for all the lessons Angela taught her to purge toxins.

"It's over, surrender!" Lena demanded.

However the screaming on the street finally caught her attention and she looked to see the Senator was safe... but someone had been hit... Lena saw red hair and instantly feared the worst. No, it can't be her. It can't be her! She looks down at the assassin, who's expression had not changed, clearly feeling no guilt or remorse for what she had done. A cold blooded killer.

"Why?! Why would you do this?!" Lena demanded.

The woman laughs condescendingly as a ship lands behind Lena and as she is distracted, the woman grabs her by the arms, forcing her lightsaber away "Goodbye, darling".

The pulls Lena off the edge, smashing her against the building's wall with her feet. Lena falls to the ground with damaged ribs, holding her chest and coughing in pain. The woman pulls herself back up with her grappling hook and walks into the ship. Lena watched them fly away, angry at herself for failing to stop them. But she remembered something more urgent and rushed back towards the area she were the speech was being held. She forced her way through several people and when she finally got through... her fears were confirmed.

"EMILY!" She screamed in despair as she rushed over to her girlfriend, who was laying motionless on the ground, pushing away anyone who tried to stop her Emily! Emily wake up! Please wake up!".

"Miss... I'm sorry, but she's dead... she sacrificed herself to save the Senator. He's alive thanks to her" A medic said.

"No! NO! NO! NO!" Lena shouted as she used every healing technique she knew in a futile attempt to save the woman she loved "Please no... Please... please...".

Realizing there was nothing she could do, Lena held Emily's body close, crying hard as her sorrow overwhelmed her.

End Of Flash Back.

Tears had began leaking from Lena's eyes. The memories she tried so hard to move on from overwhelmed her and the pain was still there. Nova hadn't said a word since Lena began explaining everything. She never imagined her lover, who always faced every bad situation with a smile, who had a never give up attitude and always managed to make even the darkest of moments a little brighter... that she would've had such a heartbreaking past.

"Lena..." Nova finally spoke.

"I went to the masters, like I was supposed to... I told them everything... and I needed help... But all of them had the same answer: Let go and move on. I knew then I didn't belong with the jedi, that they never really knew me, or understood the pain I was suffering. I couldn't just let it go... So I left the order... I left my old life behind and tried to start anew. I enlisted with the republic army and became one of the best pilots around... And then I met you" Lena finished explaining.

Nova was silent for a moment before taking Lena's hand "Lena... I'm sorry you had to go through all that. I know I can never replace Emily, but what I can do is make sure your life is as happy as it can be... That is, if you'll let me".

Lena held Nova's hand "You already have. You helped me love again... Just promise me you won't die too... I wouldn't survive it".

"You know I can't promise that, Lena. But what I can promise is that I won't die easy, and I will do everything I can to always come back to you" Nova promised.

Lena smiled, she'll take what she can get... and the two lovers leaned in for a loving kiss. Whatever the galaxy has in store for them, they will face it together.

Yeah I took a lot of inspiration from the Alive cinematic, but did my best to rewrite it to make it fit this story and give it a different ending.
