A Dark Side Wizard.
Back on Azeroth, the jedi and their allies were still looking in to the mysterious plague that was spreading across the kingdom. Seeing so many dead people come back as soulless undead monsters was very unnerving. They had already visited an village where most of the people had already been killed and raised in to undeath. Arthas was taking it the hardest since they were his people, he may be a jedi but he was still their prince, and coming home only to see his home slowly falling apart was a real test for his spirit. Had it not been for Jaina being by his side, he would've been dangerously close to breaking at this point. Still they did use a couple of the undead corpses for study... Wasn't pleasant, but if they were going to stop this plague, they needed to find out what it even is.
Inside a small building they had secured as a temporarily base, Arthas, Lena and Nova watched as Jaina was inspecting the corpse of a woman who used to be undead. She was moving her head over the body, being careful not to touch it, just in case the plague was contagious enough to spread through touch. Arthas was tapping his finger, doing his best to remain calm, but it was clear he was growing more and more impatient with each passing minute. It had already been nearly an hour since Jaina had begun, and so far she hadn't said a single word.
Noticing the prince's clear distress, Lena spoke up "Have you found out anything?".
Jaina finally stopped and sighed "Nothing... and that's exactly what worries me".
"What do you mean?" Arthas asked, glad to finally have some explanations, but also worried of what it could be.
Jaina stood up and looked at her friends "Everything is connected to the force, even the dead has some presence in it. As you know, the Force is everywhere. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together... But... I don't sense anything from the body. Even when it was still walking around and attacking us, I sensed no shred of the force in it... It's like you said Arthas, the force doesn't exist within these 'Undead'... Like the force itself has been sucked out of them, leaving nothing but an empty void".
"Well, that isn't creepy at all..." Nova said in mild sarcasm "Any ideas of who or what could've caused this?".
Jaina thinks for a moment "My master had a lot of records of dark side users and even some creatures that could drain the force from people. But if the sith were here, we should've been able to sense them. So either they are very good at hiding themselves...".
"Or the sith aren't the ones behind this" Arthas finished for her, earning a nod from his secret lover "But if the Sith didn't do this... then who or what did?".
"I'm afraid I have no idea. All I know is that whatever is causing this, we need to find it, and quickly" Jaina answered.
"Agreed, we'll head out right away. Grab only what you need, we can't waste any more time" Arthas ordered.
Everyone nodded and went to back only what they would need for the journey ahead. Lena stayed behind in her ship, just in case air support would be needed. Arthas, Jaina and Nova headed deeper within the village. It was dark outside, and the light of the moon and the stars was all they had. They heard explosions nearby and hurried to investigate. Once they arrived, they saw a siege tank shooting in to the village, but they were quick to notice it wasn't hitting any of the buildings, just the undead surrounding them.
"Hey! Who's in there!?" Arthas shouted, hoping whoever was driving the tank would hear him.
Luckily they did as the hatch opened up and a woman emerged... And Nova knew who she was "Oh no..."
"As I live and breath, the prince is finally home... Hey, is that you November?" The woman asked.
"You know her?" Arthas asked.
"Unfortunately..." Nova answered in an annoyed tone.
The woman jumped down and saluted "Sergeant Alabama Kowalski, at your service. Gotta say, I didn't expect to run in to you again blonde butt".
"Nor did I..." Nova said in annoyance.
Jaina looked between them "I sense some history between you two".
"We went through basic training together. We lost contact when she moved on to become an siege operative and I became an agent" Nova explained.
"I see you are still thin as a whip. You need more meat on your bones" Alabama said playfully.
"Easier to sneak around without all that useless extra mass" Nova said dryly.
Alabama "Well you haven't changed much, still has that stick far up your-".
"Enough" Arthas said, having no time for reunions "What were you shooting at?".
Alabama dropped her playfulness and looked more serious "I was blasting those walking corpses, this entire village is crawling with them".
"Did you notice anything else?" Nova asked.
"Yeah, some glowing green light near the edge of the village. Don't need to be a jedi to sense something was going on over there" Alabama answered.
"That's where the region's food supply is located... We need to check it out, quickly. And we may need your fire power, soldier" Arthas said.
"Count me in prince" Alabama said, more than ready for a fight.
"Hope your aim is still good" Nova said.
"No worries, your ass will remain smooth and not shredded by shrapnel" Alabama teased.
Nova groans, her old training partner hadn't changed at all... But her skills with a tank was second to non, so annoying as she was, her help will be needed for whatever they might face... as long as she keeps her comments to herself.
Back in the ship, Lena was waiting for further orders, so far nothing. She had the box with her lightsaber in front of her... It was opened and she was looking at her lightsaber... remembering why she stopped using it. She thought she had moved on, but her past still haunts her. Been years, she stopped using her lightsaber, she barely used the force and she had a new lover. But her old life was impossible to forget.
She sighed as she sat back "I hoped starting over would help me move on... But I still feel like I'm standing still... Emily, what should I do?".
She keeps thinking back to that night... when her first true love died in her arms... Her eyes grew dark when she remembered the woman who killed her. She's sworn that if she ever sees her again, she will kill her... revenge may not be the jedi way... But Lena isn't a jedi anymore. She can have her revenge without falling to the dark side, she wont become a sith, she will only be herself.
She shook her head and put her Lightsaber away. She was on a mission and needed to focus.
Back with the others, they were approaching the area where the food supply was located. Alabama was driving her tank a safe distance behind them. They came to a stop when they noticed some strange people dressed in black. They resembled Sith robes, but the green aura around them lacked the raging fire that most Sith possessed... it just felt dead and hollow. No doubt about it, these were the people responsible for what was happening.
"Sergeant Kowalski, hold back and get ready to fire in case we need it" Arthas ordered.
"Got it" Alabama said as she sat back down in her tank.
The rest approached the mysterious people, and an old man with a long white beard and green eyes noticed them "We've been discovered, fall back and continue with your tasks".
The other men obeyed his orders and quickly vanished in to the dark. Arthas, Jaina and Nova quickly approached and Nova aimed her sniper at the man's head.
"Don't even think about running" She warned.
"As much as I would love to stay and talk. I'm short on time, but my friends will be more than happy to entertain you" The Man said as his hand began glowing green and he whispered some kind of spell... when he was done, hordes of undead people and monsters began running towards the jedis and agent. And the man vanished.
Knowing there was no way they could chase him until they've dealt with the horde of undead, Arthas and Jaina took out their lightsabers and got ready. Nova quickly gunned down several undead with perfect head shots from her sniper, and when they got close enough Arthas charged forward, cutting through several undead with his lightsaber, body parts flying in all directions as each swing hit their target. Jaina used the force to lift several small rocks, before sending them flying with the speed of missiles, going clean through whatever they hit. She then lifted large boulders and used them to crush several more undead.
But the undead still had numbers on their side and Nova's sniper wasn't enough to keep them from reaching her. So she took out her knife and blaster pistol. She shot several of them before dodging an attempt to grab her and stabbed it in the head. She then quickly kicked a zombie in the chest before shooting it in the head and stabbed clean through the side of the head of another. Her hand to hand training came in good use, as these undead didn't even possess the most basic of tactics, just brain dead who's only strategy was to keep coming until they go down for good.
The battle was turning in their favor, but as Arthas finished of the last of his enemies, he heard heavy footsteps coming from the building. He looked as the gates were knocked of their hinges... and a large Abomination emerged from within.
"Oh great, another one of those things" Nova said annoyed.
"It looks like it was sewn together from different corpses" Jaina said.
"Not the time for studying, Jaina" Arthas said as he charged at the monster.
The abomination raised it's blade like cleaver and brought it down towards Arthas who quickly dodged and cut in to it's body with his lightsaber. But the creature's body was so thick, Arthas couldn't cause any fatal damage, and worst part, the Abomination didn't even feel the blows as it keeps swinging at him. Arthas leaps in to the air, aiming a strike at the Abomination's head... however he underestimated the monster's speed as it quickly smashed him in to the ground with it's large hand.
Arthas felt like he had been hit by an Rancor, and the Abomination raised it's fist to finish him off. Jaina quickly hit it with a powerful force wave, making it stumble and fall on it's back. Jaina quickly used the force to lift Arthas to safety and Nova contacted Alabama.
"NOW! FIRE!" She shouted and Alabama quickly fired her tank, blowing the Abomination apart, successfully killing it.
Arthas sat up, looking at the remains of their dead enemies "What was that? And who were those men?".
"I have no idea... But I'm worried about what they did to the food supply" Jaina said.
"You believe the food is carrying the plague?" Nova asked.
"I don't know, but if it is... thousands of people could be infected" Jaina said.
"Then we need to find the man and stop him before he finishes his plan" Arthas declared.
They all nodded... This situation has gotten much worse... Just what was those people doing? And why were they doing it? Only way to find out, is to find their leader, and quickly.
