Kettle
Early season seven, after Tony has broken up with Kathleen, Angela is still dating Andy.
The kettle simmered on the stove, and Tony stared at it, unable to look anywhere else.
Ordinarily when he couldn't sleep, he would come downstairs for tea and Angela would follow him soon afterwards. Sometimes when he entered the kitchen, she already had the kettle on the stove, as it was one few activities she was comfortable doing in the kitchen.
When had the tradition started?
Tony didn't know. All he knew was the sound of the kettle whistling in the night, Angela in her bathrobe, and the taste of tea made him feel warm in ways that had nothing to do with the hot beverage.
But why would she come down tonight? She'd been distant ever since Tony had chosen to date Kathleen, and now she was dating someone else. His heart broke to see them together, but there was nothing he could do.
As the kettle whistled, Tony heard footsteps behind him, and Angela stood there in her pink bathrobe, holding a mug. "I couldn't sleep," she said with shrug. "I'm worried about little Billy; I know it was right to take him in, but will he adjust to living here?"
Tony couldn't hide his grin as he poured the tea in both their mugs. "Me too."
