It was a new feeling, to wake up in a place that was so quiet.
In Brooklyn, no matter what the time, Tony could hear cars honk, tires squeal, and people screaming. In Connecticut, the world seemed silent when he dressed and began his morning run. Even when he returned to the kitchen to make eggs, Angela's house was still surprisingly quiet.
The kids woke up soon enough, though, chattering about their plans for the day. Samantha was accepting their new life wonderfully, and it made Tony beam with pride. She'd already made friends with Marcy down the street, and she was doing well in school. Better yet, the lifestyle in Connecticut didn't encourage children to get black eyes all the time.
Tony's new boss entered the kitchen with a smile. She was so happy to be the new president of her company. "Will you eat some eggs today?" he said with a sigh. He couldn't force her to do so as he did the kids; she was an adult, not to mention his boss. But it would be healthier for Angela to have a bit more for breakfast.
"No, just juice and coffee, please," she said as she kissed Jonathan's head.
He poured her beverages, wondering how long this would last.
