Chapter 123: Carnage of Krell

Our actions define our legacy.

Recap: While fighting to control the darkened world of Umbara, Anakin Skywalker and Storm's battalion are temporarily placed under the command of Jedi General Pong Krell. As Krell's disastrous strategies result in increasing casualties, his men begin to turn against him. Captain Rex and Commander Sark struggle to balance loyalty between their commander and their fellow men. Under their watch, Fives, Jesse, Richochet, and Claude disobey Krell's orders, resulting in their court-martial.

After their secret mission had gone off successfully, the four clones were pleased. However, it came at the cost of their comrade, Hardcase. And to make matters worse, all four were arrested for disobeying the Jedi's orders as they were placed in the brig. Rex and Sark entered the tower, hoping to convince Krell to reverse his decision.

"General Krell, we respectfully request you reconsider court-martialing the boys," said Sark.

"The actions of ARC trooper 5555, CT-5597, CT-1031, and CT-1101 were a clear act of treachery and disregard for my command. If punishment isn't swift, their defiance may inspire others to follow suit," stated Krell.

"Sir, the men are with you. It's just that some of them feel you're putting their lives in danger needlessly," explained Rex.

"All the more reason to send a clear message that I am in charge and insubordination will not be tolerated. The truth is, these clones have had a difficult time respecting my command since the beginning. I've seen it before," said Krell, looking out the window with his back to the clones, "Some clones are just defective. They aren't able to succumb to authority. You're right, Captain. I don't think I can court-martial them. It will only be a waste of time, and that's something we don't have. I'm afraid they'll need to be disposed of. Prepare a squad for execution.

"What? But, sir..." stammered Rex at what he heard.

"You heard me, Captain. Have it done immediately, or I'll do it myself!" shouted Krell as he left. Both clones now had angry faces as the Jedi told them to kill their own men, which disgusted them.

The two clone commanders made their way to the brig they got on with a squad of clones behind them. They descended as they saw some Umbarans in the cells. Fives and Jesse were in one of them, while Richochet and Claude were next to them.

"Boys, we're sorry," said Sark to the four men, "General Krell has ordered your execution immediately."

"What? But how? He can't do this!" stated Claude.

"He has the authority to render punishment during combat. I can understand a court-martial and locking us up in the brig, but executing us?" said Jesse.

"We tried to convince him that it's our fault, but he wouldn't let us," said Rex.

"Rex, Sark, you have to face it. He's been using you two. He needs your loyalty to control the others," said Richochet.

Both clones sighed heavily as they seemed to know that. The doors opened to both cells as the clones behind them retrieved the four of them.

"We won't let him get away with this," stated Sark.

"Don't beat yourself up about it. We made our choice. We knew what the price was." said Fives as all four stopped before the two clone commanders.

"Speak for yourself," stated Jesse.

"Still got your sense of humor, I see," chuckled Fives.

"Yeah, who said I was joking?" stated Jesse as he wasn't thinking this was funny.

"Well..." sighed Fives, "I guess this is it."

The four were led away as a line of clones without their helmets lined up. They had blasters as they were about to execute the traitors. In his tower, Krell glanced down at where the execution was taking place.

"Line up the prisoners," said Dogma.

"Well, I've officially lost my sense of humor," said Jesse as they were all lined up against the wall, facing down the barrels of the blasters.

"Will the prisoners request to be blindfolded?" asked Dogma.

Not one of them answered as they kept a defiant look.

"I'll take that as a no," replied Dogma as he began to walk.

"I hope you can live with yourself, Dogma," stated Fives for what the clone was about to do.

Rex and Sark appeared next to Dogma as he gave the command.

"Ready weapons!" shouted the clone to the soldiers.

"Never thought we'd go out this way," said Jesse.

"Aim!"

The clones all pointed their blasters at the four as they needed to pull the trigger, and the deed would be done. One of the men selected to fire the blaster was Tup; while his face spoke of doing his job, in his mind, he was conflicted.

"Wait! This is wrong, and we all know it!" shouted Fives, trying to make one last plea, "The general is making a mistake, and he needs to be called on it. No clone should have to go out this way! We're loyal soldiers! We follow orders, but we are not a bunch of unthinking droids! We are men! We must be trusted to make the right decisions! Especially when the orders we are given are wrong!"

"Fire!" shouted Dogma.

At the command, the clones pulled their triggers and fired their shots. The sound of the smoking barrel was heard and seen as the firing squad all stood. Across from them were Fives, Jesse, Claude, and Richochet, as they were all perfectly fine. The firing squad took in what the ARC trooper said as they purposely missed to save their comrades' lives.

"What... What happened?"

"They're doing the right thing, Dogma," said Sark.

"Because if this is how soldiers are rewarded for heroic actions, then one day, every man in this battalion may face a similar fate," said Rex as he spoke the truth, "Take off their binders."

"No! We have orders! We have to go through with this!" shouted Dogma to the others.

"Good luck finding anyone to do it," replied Sark as the four were freed from their binds.

Safe to say, Dogma was unhappy with what transpired as he felt they were betraying their duty as soldiers. It wasn't long before Rex and Sark were called into the tower, as Krell wanted to have a few choice words with the two clone superiors.

"You wanted us, sir?" said Rex.

"I ordered those clones to be destroyed. You two are making a mistake by crossing me, clones," growled Krell as he stared down the pair.

"It's Captain, sir."

"And Commander."

Both clones stared back at the Jedi as he continued to growl at the two for disobeying his command. Before tensions could get any worse, something happened.

"General, there's an incoming transmission," said one of the clones nearby.

"Put it through," said Krell.

The transmission was put through as the image of a clone appeared.

"General, the Umbarans have stepped up their offensive. We're holding them off, but their squadrons have ambushed one of our platoons, seizing weapons and uniforms. We believe they may be planning to launch a massive attack." said the clone as the transmission ended.

"Looks like you have your stay of execution for now," said Krell to both clones, "Lock the traitors in the brig and prepare your platoons to move out immediately. We need to pre-empt the enemy by hitting them now with everything we've got. We're finally going to take the capital."

All three got on board the elevator as they descended.

"And, Captain, Commander. Make sure the troops are aware that the enemy may disguise themselves as clones to try to trick us," enforced Krell of that specific part.

"We will, sir," said Rex as he and Sark put on their helmets.

After rounding up and putting their friends back in the brig, for the time being, Sark and Rex rounded up their platoons and began to head out. They were now marching in the jungle as they were looking to engage the enemy before they could have the chance to surprise them.

"Stay alert!" shouted Sark.

"The enemy has our weapons and our armor. They may try to trick us with an ambush!" stated Rex as they kept jogging through the dense bush.

"Watch out, Dogma!" shouted Tup as he managed to stop his friend from tripping over a familiar vine on the ground. "I saw that thing attack Hardcase. It'll chew you up and spit you out. Here, watch."

Tup picked up a rock and aimed it at a small mound a few meters away. The rock bounced off of it as it was revealed to be a Vixus, as its toothy mouth opened and growled upon feeling something. It had its vines waving in the air before settling down and closing its mouth.

"Ew! Gross," said Dogma as he saw the creature and what it looked like.

Soon shooting was heard.

"We're under attack!" shouted a clone as blue lasers zoomed past them, taking out some clones.

"Where's the enemy?"

"I don't know! I can't see anything!" said another clone as they took cover behind a tree and fired back at them.

An explosion occurred as it took out more clones.

"Get those mortars up here!" shouted Sark.

The clones carrying the mortars all bent down as they placed them on the ground. It soon shot out some shells as they flew through the air and landed as explosions occurred, knowing that some enemies were killed.

"Anyone have a visual?" Rex asked as he continued shooting.

"Negative. It's too dark," said Kix as he zoomed in on his scope. Soon figures began to make their way to them as it was the clones in disguise. "Wait! I see them! They're disguised as clones, all right."

The group now charged out, charging ahead and taking out the clones. Both sides rushed ahead as they sustained heavy casualties from all the men falling over.

"Captain, Commander. Where are you two? We're sustaining heavy casualties!" shouted the clone who contacted them earlier as the enemy fire pinned him down.

Rex was running about, shooting his pistols as he took cover behind trees. He saw his men up front but then noticed off to the side some dead clones. He approached one of them as he saw the helmet was slightly off. The clone captain grabbed ahold of the body as he removed his helmet and what he saw left him in shock.

"What?" said Rex as he backed up upon what he saw.

What was told that the enemy was in disguise and dressed as clones was false. In truth, they weren't the enemy but clones themselves. They were shooting and killing each other as they believed the other to be the enemy. It shocked Rex as he began to run toward the front line.

"Everyone, stop firing! We're shooting at our own men! They're not Umbarans! They're clones!" yelled the captain as he waved his arms about, trying to get his men to cease fire. He then removed his helmet as he kept on shouting. "Take off your helmets! Show them you're not the enemy."

The men and Sark heard Rex as they stopped firing with him running by. Rex was now charging at the other side as they were about to shoot when they saw his face.

"They're clones!" shouted Rex.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!" said a clone as he stopped his comrade from taking the shot.

"Everyone, stop firing. Cease fire! They're not Umbarans. They're clones!" said Rex as he charged ahead with his arms waving about.

"What the..." said a clone from the other side as Rex tackled him to the floor.

They rolled around as Rex got up and stood behind the one he tackled as he took off his helmet to reveal his face.

"Look! We're clones! We're all clones!" shouted Rex as that got everyone to stop firing.

Everyone removed their helmets to show their faces as they were all clones, not the enemy they believed.

"What?" said Dogma, as he was like everyone else in stunned disbelief.

Both sides walked ahead as they stood in a line across from each other, staring into each other's faces with disgusted looks. Rex had his hands on his head as he couldn't believe what had transpired that they almost killed each other, their fellow brothers.

The two battalions were now picking up their fallen comrades as they took in what had occurred.

"This can't be happening. What have we done?" said Tup.

"I don't understand. Why did these troopers attack us?" asked Kix.

"Captain, Commander. I've found their platoon leader. It's Waxer. He's still alive." said Dogma as he led them all to where their friend was.

"Waxer," said Rex as they saw one of Obi-wan's most trusted men from his battalion leaning against a treat as he was wounded.

They removed his helmet as they saw the face of their close friend, who grunted in pain.

"Tell us who gave you the orders to attack us," said Sark as he and Rex bent down.

"It... It was General Krell," gasped Waxer as he coughed, "He sent us to these coordinates to stop the enemy. We thought they were wearing our armor, but it was... You."

And just like that, Waxer had taken his final breath as he closed his eyes and had his head down. But not before a tear rolled down his eyes as Rex and Sark experienced the same thing. The clone succumbed to his injuries, and everyone was left with a sad and disgusted look, knowing they did this and killed their own men and brothers.

Everyone was soon rounded up as the remaining members of Obi-wan's battalion stood with the others. Sark and Rex were marching in front of the group as they addressed what had transpired.

"We all know who's responsible for what happened out there. What we don't know is why," said Sark.

"Something has to be done. What we're proposing is highly treasonous. If any man chooses to opt-out, do it now." said Rex as nobody said anything and knew what their decision was, and that was to stand by the two clone commanders.

"From this point forward, we are entering uncharted territory. Our orders are we arrest General Krell for treason against the Republic," said Rex as the men seemed on board with that idea.

The group made their way back to the airbase; they began to round up the remaining of Rex and Sark's battalion as they were told what was happening. The pair made it to the brig by opening the cells holding Fives, Jesse, Richochet, and Claude. The pair appeared before them and handed them their weapons and uniform as they were about to confront General Krell.

The Jedi was up in his tower as he stood facing the window. The door opened as several clones, along with Sark and Rex, came rushing to the front to confront the corrupt Jedi.

"General Krell, you are being relieved of duty," said Sark.

"It's treason, then," responded Krell as he saw the clones aiming their guns at him.

"Surrender, General," stated Rex.

"You're committing mutiny, Captain," said Krell.

"Explain your actions!" demanded Sark.

"My actions?" questioned Krell with a sinister smile.

"For ordering your troops against one another," stated Rex.

"Oh, that. I'm surprised you were able to figure it out for a clone," scoffed the Jedi.

"Surrender, General. You're outnumbered!" shouted Sark.

"You dare to attack a Jedi?" shouted Krell as he thrust his four arms out.

The clones were pushed back by the Jedi's power. Krell then pulled out his two double-bladed lightsabers as the clones rose and began to fire at him. The Jedi was spinning his blades as he was blocking and dodging the shots fired. He then swung his lightsabers as he began to kill several clones. He ran his lightsaber through one of them while swinging his other to another clone as the lightsaber mark was left on the arm. He pulled out and stabbed several more as he brought them down to take out five in one fell attack.

More clones continued to fall and be stabbed as they tried to take down the Jedi standing his ground. One of the clones was sliced and then kicked in the direction of Rex and Sark as they stepped to the side to avoid it. They looked back ahead to see Krell holding a stance.

"I will not be undermined by creatures bred in some laboratory!" shouted Krell.

Sark signaled Fives, Jesse, Richochet, and Claude to move in as Krell turned to the window and crashed through it. The Jedi dropped as the entire battalion was in front of him, locked and loaded.

"Get him!" shouted a clone as they fired.

Krell merely smiled as he charged ahead at the clones in front of him. He swung his lightsabers as he barreled through several clones, killing them. He was surrounded on all sides as up above, Rex, Sark, and their trusted men looked through the broken window and quickly had to get down there.

Krell was still taking out many clones as he kicked one to the floor and used one of his free arms to grab him as he flung him to some who were firing. He then leaped over one of the walkers as he was looking to head out of the airbase. The remaining clones ahead saw the Jedi as they rushed forward, firing to stop him. Krell merely thrust his hands out as he used the Force to push them to the ground as he ran by them and fled into the jungle.

Rex and Sark, along with their men, had just gotten down from the tower as they were about to go after Krell when someone stopped them.

"Hold it right there!" said Dogma as he had his blasters aimed at the traitors.

"Lower your weapon, Dogma!" ordered Sark as they raised their weapons at him.

"I... I can't do that, sir," replied the clone.

"That's an order!" shouted Rex.

"It's my duty! You're all traitors!" shouted Dogma as he felt everyone was going against their duty as clones and soldiers.

Rex and Sark then took off their helmets while holding their blasters aimed at Dogma to address him face-to-face.

"We used to believe that being a good soldier meant doing everything they told you. That's how they engineered us," said Sark.

"But we're not droids. We're not programmed. You have to learn to make your own decisions." stated Rex.

"Dogma, don't do it," said Tup as he aimed a blaster at his friend while trying to convince him to stand down.

Dogma obeyed as he put his weapon down and was tackled to the ground.

"Take him to the brig," said Sark as he began to run ahead with the others following.

"Troopers, don't let General Krell escape!" Rex said on his comlink as he called for all clones to move out.

The journey into the jungle was a dangerous one. The clones were paying close attention to their surroundings while trying to find their target. They had broken up into different groups as they scouted the jungle.

"Anybody got anything?" asked Rex on his comlink.

"Negative, Captain. We lost him," said a clone who had spotted and was tracking Krell before he disappeared. "Wait..."

Over the comlink, the sound of a lightsaber whooshing was heard, followed by the grunts of several clones.

"He's too powerful! Hurry!" shouted the clone over the comlink before he let out one final sound, and that was the end of the transmission.

The men began to book it as they made their way to where the incident occurred in hopes of finding Krell. They took a position as Fives zoomed in on his headset and, in the distance, saw Krell taking out the final clones of the scout squad. The Jedi then looked directly at the clone as he leaped into the air.

"He's coming!" said Fives to everyone as they all began to get up and prepare.

"You should have listened to the ARC trooper from the beginning, Captain, Commander," said Krell as his voice echoed around the clones. He then let out an evil cackle as the clones were on edge, looking all around them with their blasters ready.

"He was right. I was using you," said Krell as he let out another evil laugh. "You've all been my pawns. "

Krell popped out as he came crashing down from above on a group of clones with his lightsaber out.

"Get him!" shouted Richochet.

The Jedi merely laughed as the clones began firing at him again. He blocked the first few shots before leaping and slashing at a clone as he fell. He then swept another clone off his feet using his lightsaber while thrusting his lightsaber forward to take out a clone hiding behind a tree. Krell spun while slicing another clone and spun to strike at a clone in the helmet as he fell. The Jedi twirled and moved about as the clones kept firing. He kept stabbing the clones within reach as he made a double backward lunge without looking as they pierced several more clones.

The Jedi turned them off before leaping into the air and fist-fighting several clones. He punched a clone as he collided with a tree before he grabbed another clone, held him high up, and dropped him on his knee as he broke his back. He then tossed the clone away while punching another into a tree. He then grabbed Tup and Claude as the clones were flung and crashed to the ground.

They came and were about to get back in the fight when they noticed something nearby. A Vixus plant was right next to them as its mouth opened, and the two backed up slowly while aiming their blasters. The mouth then closed as both looked to where their comrades were fighting as they both got an idea.

"Captain Rex, this is Tup. If you can, force the General towards us!"

"What? Why?" shouted Rex.

"Trust us, sir!" said Claude.

"Troopers, listen up! Circle around, lure him towards Tup and Claude!" shouted Sark.

The clones heard the command as they began to run. Krell had just stabbed another clone when he saw the other scurrying away. The Jedi gave chase as the whole group was now starting to run; they were counting on whatever Tup and Claude came up with that it would help.

As for the two clones, they were carefully stepping over the vines of the Vixus while making sure they were on the other side of the plant as they waited. They didn't have to wait long as the rest of their comrades were in front of them as Krell laughed at them with his lightsabers. Claude then took aim and fired several shots to get the Jedi's attention. Krell blocked them as he saw the two.

"Hey, ugly, come and get us!" taunted Tup.

The Jedi laughed as he began to charge straight at the pair. They just stood still; under their helmets, they closed their eyes and prepared for what was about to happen. Krell charged as one of his feet stepped on the vines of the Vixus just when he leaped into the air to strike the clones, a vine wrapped around his waist. The Jedi grunted and was taken off guard as he felt himself getting flung around in the air. The Vixus opened its mouth as its three-pronged tongue looked to devour its prey. However, Krell used his lightsabers to cut the tongue off as the Vixus let out a screech.

It dropped the Jedi to the ground before lifting him up again as Krell dropped one of his lightsabers. He still had the other as the clones attempted to shoot at him while dangling. The Jedi thrust his hand out to push some of them back before he slashed at another clone, killing him. Krell then sliced the vine holding him as he dropped to the ground. He sat up as some blaster shots were fired as they took out the Vixus next to the Jedi. He then turned as he came face to face with the blasters of Claude and Tup as the two pulled the trigger. They stunned Krell as he slumped to the floor unconscious.

"We stunned him, sir," said Tup as Rex and Sark came up from behind.

"Nice work, Tup," said Rex as he patted his friend's shoulder.

"You as well, Claude," stated Sark as he gave a pat on the back.

They then put handcuffs on the Jedi as they began to lead him back to the airbase.

Rex and Sark, along with their friends, were shown lowering down in the brig of the airbase. They approached one of the cells, and inside was Krell, who was more than awake as he was bonded. Next to him was Dogma, who was also cuffed. The Jedi growled upon seeing the clones as both commanders stood in front of his cell.

"Why, General? Why kill your own men?" asked Sark.

Krell merely chuckled when he was asked that.

"Because I can. Because you fell for it. Because you're inferior." stated Krell as he stood up.

"But you're a Jedi! How could you?" questioned Rex.

"A Jedi?" laughed Krell very loudly, "I'm no longer naive enough to be a Jedi. A new power is rising. I've foreseen it. The Jedi are going to lose this war, and the Republic will be ripped apart from the inside. In its place is going to rise a new order, and I will rule as part of it."

Truth be told, what the harsh general was saying was true. Events yet to come would be devasting.

"You're a Separatist!" stated Sark.

"I serve no one's side, only my own. And soon, my new master," responded Krell.

"You're an agent of Dooku!" declared Rex.

"Not yet, but when I get out of here, I will be. After I've succeeded in driving the Republic from Umbara, the Count will reward my actions and make me his new apprentice," confessed the corrupt Jedi.

"How could you do this? You had my trust! My loyalty! I followed all of your orders, and you made me kill my brothers!" shouted Dogma from his cell as he looked at the Jedi.

Krell had no sympathy as he merely chuckled.

"That's because you were the biggest fool of them all, Dogma. I counted on blind loyalty like yours to make my plan succeed," said Krell as he confessed to playing Dogma like a pawn in a chess game.

"That will never happen. You're a traitor, General, and you'll be dealt with as one," declared Rex.

"You never learn, Captain. The Umbarans are going to retake this base. And when they do, I will be free." said Krell as he sat down and mediated.

The clones all made scowling faces as outside explosions were occurring in the sky. They were outside the brig to discuss things when Sergeant Appo approached Rex and Sark.

"Captain, we've repaired the transmitter. It looks like it was sabotaged. We received a message from General Kenobi. His forces have captured the capital, but the remaining Umbarans are heading here!" stated Appo.

"Get everyone on the perimeter! We need to prepare for a full-scale attack!" ordered Sark.

"Yes, sir!" responded Appo as he went to inform the troops.

"Krell sabotaged the transmitter. He's been against us from the beginning," said Rex as he and Sark turned to address their pals.

"If the Umbarans get to him, he'll turn over all our intel," said Fives.

"The defense codes, everything," added Jesse.

"He'll strike a crippling blow to the Republic," replied Claude.

"Something has to be done," stated Richochet.

"We can't risk the possibility that he might escape," said Kix.

"As long as Krell's alive, he's a threat to every one of us," chimed in Tup.

"I agree," said Rex, as they knew what to do.

The group was back in the brig as they were being lowered to the cell levels. Dogma saw them as the door to his cell opened, and Fives went to retrieve him. Rex and Sark then looked ahead at the cell holding Krell as the pair pulled out their blasters.

"Turn around and step toward the wall," said Sark.

Krell did what he was told as both of them approached the door.

"On your knees," commanded Rex as Jesse pushed a button to open the door.

The two stepped in behind the Jedi with their weapons aimed at him. Krell merely laughed as he could sense that duo's uneasiness.

"You're in a position of power now. How does it feel?" taunted Krell.

"We said, on your knees," reiterated Sark.

"It feels good, doesn't it?" asked Krell as he dropped to his knees with his back turned. "But I can sense your fears. You're both shaking, aren't you?" True to what Krell said, Rex and Sark's hand was shaking as they struggled to pull the trigger to end the Jedi's life, "What are you waiting for? The Umbarans are getting closer."

"We have to do this," said Rex, who wasn't confident.

"You can't do it, can you?" taunted Krell once more as both Rex and Sark sighed to signal he was right, "Eventually, you'll have to do the right thing..."

At that moment, a blaster shot was heard as it pierced through Krell, who gasped. The Jedi then slumped to the floor as he was dead. Both Rex and Sark were stunned as neither of them pulled the trigger. They turned to look behind as Dogma was standing with a blaster. Fives was shocked when he went to touch his blaster; he was surprised to see that Dogma had taken it without him noticing, and he pulled the trigger to end the Jedi's life. Everyone was left stunned by what he did.

"I... I had to. He betrayed us," said Dogma as Fives merely put the weapon down.

The rest of the men turned back as they saw the Jedi on the ground.

Gunships soon arrived as they were here to pick up Rex, Sark, and their men from the airbase. Dogma was being loaded onto a gunship as he turned to look at Rex and Sark in the distance. Neither said anything but gave a nod of affirmation for what he did as he smiled.

"General Kenobi's battalions have routed the last hold-outs of Umbarans, and we've secured all sectors. We did it. We took Umbara." said Fives as he approached the duo with their friends.

"What's the point of all this? I mean, why?" wondered Rex.

"I don't know, sir. I don't think anybody knows. But I do know that someday this war is gonna end." stated Fives.

"Then what? We're soldiers. What happens to us then?" said Rex.

That question got to all of them as they began to look to the sky, wondering what the future would hold for them. The war would end, that outcome was certain. But... what would be the result? And who... would win?

They soon boarded as they were looking to return home. On board, Sark contacted Storm as he informed the Jedi of their mission being a success.

"Good work, men. I'll see you guys when you return," said Storm as he was about to end the transmission.

"General..." said Sark as he got the boy's attention. "Do you remember what you said to us when we first met? You asked us if there was ever an incident where we would be tasked with hunting you or General Luna down?"

"Yeah," responded Storm.

"We meant what we said back then. We would never betray you two," stated Sark.

"I know you guys wouldn't," smiled Storm. "I trust you guys... with my life."

With my life.

With my life.

With my life.

With my life!

Those words echoed. For... they had so much more meaning behind them.

Author's Note: And so we've reached the end of this arc. And even more foreshadowing of what's to come. Forcing and manipulating the clones to kill each other, to kill your own brothers. Such a heartless tactic. And the ending words said by Storm to the clones. Safe to say, what will happen when we get there will be bittersweet. As always, leave a review expressing your thoughts and comments.
