Bonnie was in the kitchen laughing at the stories Ms. Rene was telling her about Zaci and her younger brother that they lost a few years ago. She felt at ease now that she was around someone who didn't expect much from her but companionship. especially since she was feeling guilty about how things went between her and Damon earlier. She worried that her reaction was too extreme; she really didn't want to hurt her friends to get the point across, but she also wanted them to know she wasn't the same Bonnie they left in the prison world.
Being alone for so long made her lose her mind-the hallucinations and the worlds collapsing on themselves. It was a lot, and it made her think a lot about how she kept sacrificing herself for others who were living their lives happily, whether or not she was there with them.
Bonnie stopped cutting the peppers, and when she heard Hiwa, Amaka's little sister, call for her, she rushed into the kitchen and hugged Bonnie's legs.
"Hiiii Bonnie," She said with bright, mossy eyes. Bonnie stooped to kiss her.
"Hello, little one, how you been?" Bonnie asked her, and Hiwa started to ramble about what she did today, and then she did something that shocked Bonnie, Hiwa used her magic to raise the peppers she was previously cutting.
"She's been practising that all week," Amaka said, coming into the kitchen. Ms. Rene nodded and had a pleased smile on her face. Bonnie turned around and continued what she was doing while Hiwa went off to play with Dene's little girl, Tayen.
"So Amaka How are you doing?" Ms. Rene asked, and Amaka leaned against the counter near the stove and folded her arms.
"I'm okay. I have been practising a little magic so it doesn't get out of control, but I had to take up a little extra shifts at work," she answered.
Ms. Rene turned to gaze at Amaka, her forehead furrowed and her lips tight.
"Amaka why are you working so much?" Ms. Rene asked her. Amaka exhale.
"My mom hasn't been back for weeks, and I don't think she's coming back, so I have to do something to make sure I can take care of Hiwa," Amaka confessed. Bonnie observed Amaka's dispirited look.
"You know you can ask us for help, right?" Ms. Rene asked, touching Amaka's shoulders,
"Yeah, but it isn't fair for me to..." Amaka began. She shut her eyes to stop her tears from falling, but she failed.
"Amaka, you are still a child. I'm not telling you this because I don't think you can do this on your own; it's just that you should not have the responsibility of looking after your sister alone." Ms. Rene said, "If you need anything and I have it, I will give it to you, okay?" she said, looking Amaka in the eye and then pulling her in for a hug. Bonnie went up to them and rubbed her back as she cried.
"Yes, the same goes for me too," Bonnie murmurs. "Why don't you move in with me until your mom comes back? The repairs aren't finished yet, but I can ask a friend to speed them up for me," Bonnie says.
"You bought a house?" Zaci says she is stepping into the kitchen. Bonnie nods,
"I'll tell you guys about it later," Bonnie said, turning to face Zaci.
"Is that the big news you have to tell us?" Ms. Rene asks
"No, I won't say I have big news." Bonnie mumbles. Amaka moves Ms. Rene's hands,
"Thank you, Bonnie, but I don't think I can move in with you like that," Amaka mumbles, shaking her head. "That's way too much,"
"Why don't you think about it first?" Bonnie says. "I'm not trying to force you, but I think it would make things a bit easier for you," she continues. Everyone nods at Amaka, and she drops her shoulders and sighs okay.
They all continued to do their activities while Amaka went outside and thought about how she could accept Bonnie's offer without being a burden.
After dinner, everyone was sitting in the living room, chatting among themselves. Zaci and her mom love having people over. Before meeting Bonnie, she was convinced that leaving New Orleans was what she needed, but now she knew better. She had missed living with her mom; after losing her dad and then her brother, she was lonely. She saw her mom every day, and Vincent visited her from time to time, but that wasn't enough for her.
Meeting Bonnie didn't solve her problems, but it helped ease the pain of losing her younger sibling, Zaki. Bonnie brought all these amazing people into her and her mom's lives; they hadn't realised how closed off they had been to people around them, and they blamed them for the death of Zaki. They missed the community that witches have, but they couldn't connect with the witches in their coven anymore.
In their grief, they have lost their connection to their coven.
"Sooo, you guys," Bonnie began. Everyone looked up at her; she had Tayen on her hips.
"As you guys may know, I'm acquainted with the Mikealsons," Bonnie said, "using acquainted very lightly," which made her laugh at herself a bit.
"But it's because I was the witch who almost killed Klaus back in Mystic Falls," Bonnie said seriously. She gave Tayen to her mom, stood on her heels, and rocked.
"So you bought the Bennett house?" Ms. Rene asked, and Bonnie nodded.
"I didn't even think for a minute that you could be the Bennett witch," Zaci murmured.
"So the witches were wrong about you and the hybrid being a couple?" Dene asks, which makes Bonnie bite her bottom lip, but before she could answer, Hiwa looked at her and asked
"What's the Bennett Witch?" Bonnie sits back in the chair.
"They are the first witches," Ms. Rene answers with a secret smile, which causes Amaka and Hiwa's eyes to widen.
"So you are a Bennett witch?" Amaka asks, and Bonnie nods.
"Amaka, why don't you give you and the little ones some cake?" Zaci said, chasing them out of the room.
When everyone settles down again,
"Did I make a mistake asking for your help yesterday?" Zaci voiced, Bonnie sat up and put her hands up to say no.
"No, not at all," Bonnie reassures her.
"Is she talking about the wolves?" Dene asks, and Zaci nods.
"Me and Hayley are friends, so I wasn't in any immediate harm," Bonnie says.
"But the Mikealsons must hate you, or is there truth to rumours?" Ms. Rene says
Bonnie bites her bottom lip.
"Klaus and I are not together; I don't know why people keep assuming that," Bonnie says, looking up to the roof and dragging her tongue against her teeth.
"So you let him kiss and feel you up just cause?" Zaci smirks, which makes Bonnie throw a pillow at her. Bonnie tries to reassure everyone that she and Klaus are not together, but with Zaci's cheeky comments, she fails.
"So where were you last night because Vincent told Zaci you had dinner with them?" Ms. Rene is changing the topic.
"I'm psychic," Bonnie admits. Bonnie goes on to tell them about the dinner last night-most of what she could anyway. She didn't think it would be smart to tell them about the visions because she didn't trust them.
"So this vision caused you to come to New Orleans, of all places? And you didn't know the Mikealsons were here?" Dene asks suspiciously
"Not a vision, more of a feeling, and things were not going well back home; it hasn't been for awhile," Bonnie says. Zaci knew some of what happened in Mystic Falls, and when she even brings it up, she wants to meet her friends just so she can kick their asses.
Klaus had told her that her friends don't care for her, but to hear it from someone who had ill intentions, she couldn't help but feel maybe he was right, but Bonnie didn't know if she was ready to end friendships that had been with her her entire life. Bonnie shook her head.
"I didn't get the vision until I saw Klaus himself here in New Orleans," Bonnie admits.
"But they trust you around their little girl," Dene asks. bonne nods.
"They know I would never hurt a child," Bonnie says, causing Ms. Rene to cringe. Hayley gave her all the details about the ancestors wanting to sacrifice Hope, which is why the Mikealsons are hostile to any witch except Vincent, and even he'll feel the wrath if they're in the mood.
"It also explains why Hayley listened to you when you brought her here; normally they would resort to torture to get anything out of a witch," Zaci speaks up, "but I don't want you to fuck up your relationship with them for us." Ms. Rene nods
Bonnie rolled her eyes. "You guys don't have to worry about me; I can take care of myself." She just needed to keep her guard up.
"So what did you want to tell us?" Zaci asks,
"I want to form a coven, actually," Bonnie announces. She wanted to create a community of witches from all over the world starting here; she already had the semantics down and the home for the coven, she just needed members. She knew Amaka and her sister would be members, but everyone else was already spoken for.
She started to tell them her ideas and what she wanted the coven to be about. Bonnie felt butterflies in her belly, finally being able to share her ideas.
"So if you guys know anyone who is out of a coven and looking to be in one, let me know, please," Bonnie says.
"I'll join your coven," Dene says. "My coven hates me and won't be sad to see me gone, but my magic would still be tied to the ancestors." Bonnie hugged Dene and thanked her.
She already knew that the ancestors would try to cause trouble with a Bennett witch in New Orleans while also building a coven, and that's what she wanted-for them to be totally focused on her.
Klaus sat sipping on a glass of blood, listening to Freya ramble about some spell she and Bonnie needed to do, but Bonnie hadn't been answering her phone. No one had any luck talking to her for the past two weeks-not him, Hayley, or Freya. She was ignoring all their calls; he knew what she was doing at this time, but he gave her time to let her anger cool. He planned to go see her soon and personally deliver the flowers he had been sending her since she ignored his first call. He felt her anger after he left her asleep in her bed, and it got worse when she arrived at home. He knew it wasn't something his siblings said because they swore they hadn't seen her that morning, so whatever it was, it was bad enough to make her cut them off.
"Tristan just called me." Elijah said as he motioned for one of their servants to give him some blood. Rebekah walked in, stealing the glass before Elijah could hold it. The three vampires recalled how they met the vampire.
"Who's Tristan?" Freya asks, her brows furrowed in confusion.
"The first vampire I turned," Elijah responds, fixing his slackening tie.
"Do you think it's a coincidence that we are somehow hearing from both of your first?" Rebekah asks
"Did you hear from Aurora?" Klaus asked, and he felt an ache in his heart thinking about her. Once upon a time, he thought he was in love with her until Elijah interfered with that. In truth, Aurora was sick, and back in that time, there was no one who could help her; turning into a vampire didn't help her.
"I hope not; we don't need another vengeful ex of yours in our lives," Elijah quips, and Klaus rolls his eyes.
"Any vengeful exes who were after our family were Kol's," Klaus points out. They all laughed and recounted about the year they spent in Sweden before Kol killed his lover's brother in a sparring match causing her to chase them out the country. They left with barely the clothes on their backs. They all sighed,They still mourned his death, but it got worse with Elijah's vision telling them he would die again.
"Why do you think it wasn't a coincidence, Rebekah?" Freya asks, and Klaus looks at her as she takes a seat next to him.
"When I was with Bonnie, she asked how I turned her; I wasn't sure what she meant about that, but now with both Tristan and Lucien in play, I wonder if Aurora might have a hand in what might happen to me," Rebekah ponders.
Bonnie had given them a lot to think about. Klaus would just like to find Lucien and kill him, but with the missing wolves, he knew killing Lucien immediately wouldn't make a difference. There was something greater at play. Whatever was going to happen, he needed to protect his little witch. He failed when he let Rebekah attack her when he was in his home, and he wouldn't fail a second time.
"What did Tristan want?" Klaus asked
"He wants to discuss the future of the Strix," Elijah says. Klaus rolls his eyes. He never got why Elijah created that group; they created the very problems he wanted to solve. They couldn't see it because they thought their morals were superior to everyone around them and that they could change the world for themselves and humans alike.
"I think we should kill one of them," Freya announces. Elijah raises her eyebrows at her, and Klaus laughs.
"I vote Aurora," Rebekah says, looking to Klaus.
"I don't think she deserves to die." Klaus says Aurora was a vindictive bitch, but she wouldn't cause great harm unless influenced. She was like a child who still needed to be punished when they misbehaved. Elijah groans in disapproval.
"I think it would be best; we know she still loves you, and it would do you good to kill her while you pursue the Bennett witch," Rebekah chides.
"You want to kill her based on the theory that Bonnie may have been talking about her," Klaus scoffs.
"I say we kill the most boring vampire," Klaus says.
"It would be beneficial to have Aya as the leader," Elijah muses, sipping his drink. "Though I would love to have Aurora's head beneath my feet."
"So Tristan it is?" Freya speaks
"I say we invite them all to dinner and poison one of their bloods with werewolf venom," Rebekah says.
"And somehow it will be Aurora if you have it your way," Klaus says.
"I don't get your sudden attachment to the girl; you haven't thought about her in hundreds of years." Rebekah yells
"Is it because of Bonnie?" Freya asks, and they all turn to Klaus to see his reaction. He wasn't sure if it was because of Bonnie; maybe it was how he could kill the woman he once thought himself in love with and what that would mean for him and Bonnie.
"She already knows you're a murderous hybrid that only uses people for his benefit; killing your ex wouldn't even make her bat an eye." Freya expresses her frustration when Klaus doesn't respond. They all nodded in agreement.
Klaus didn't want Bonnie to see him like everyone else did; she already knew that. He wanted her to see him as her protector, her lover, her confidant, and her mate.
"I say we see what Tristan wants first, and if he isn't proven useful, Elijah, you made him deal with the problem," Klaus mumbles to change the topic. His siblings need to focus on something other than his and Bonnie's relationship.
"What if Aurora becomes a problem?" Freya asks, and Klaus shrugs. The best he could think of was punishing her. He didn't love or hate her, but she has been a nuisance once in awhile.
Klaus walked out of the room. He needed to go see his little witch.
The last two weeks have been nothing but good news for Bonnie; her home was rewired, decorated, and ready to be lived in. The girls had agreed to move with her, and they were currently upstairs, unpacking their things, when Ms. Rene brought over a cake for Bonnie. Freya had even texted her that she had all the things needed to help Tayen in a few days.
She was surrounded by people that she has grown to love while in New Orleans, so now she can finally relax, prepare for school in a few weeks, and finally text Freya and Hayley back. And there was still Klaus, Bonnie decided it would be best for her to end whatever was going on between them before it got serious and they had to choose between each other or their families. Though he was nice and sent her flowers every day since they last saw each other. It didn't feel right for her to date Klaus knowing what he was capable of doing to the people she care about. you care about him too. She thought
Bonnie released a sigh, shaking off all her thoughts of Klaus leaving it for another day, she hoped that everything would come together now that logic was on her side.
She looked up from where she was on the floor to see a fearful look appear on Ms. Rene's face. She was looking at the door. Bonnie felt him before she turned around. She got up and went and got some water and placed her to sit. just my luck, I thought him up.
She took Klaus' hand and pulled him out of her house. She turned to finally look at him, looking for any changes, and of course there were none. They stood there staring at each other for awhile, and they both started to speak and laughed when they realised they had the same idea.
Klaus reached out to touch her chin and pulled her closer so he could kiss her on the nose. He then looked her in the eyes,
"Bonnie, I'm sorry; I should have never let Rebekah touch you," he said. Bonnie could feel that his apology was genuine, but she wasn't sure why he was apologising; she should have made sure her protection spell still worked before she went over,
"Klaus, it wasn't your fault; I should have protected myself better." She mutters, frowning at the memory of Rebekah attacking her.
"Yes but-" Klaus starts
"Nik,I don't think you're at fault for what happened to me and your sister plus I cant expect you attack your sister for me." Bonnie says, wanting to be over with this conversation.
"I have attacked her for less, so it wouldn't add any more grievances between us." Klaus says to comfort her. "I'm not asking for forgiveness; I just want you to know I'm sorry," Klaus admits. She looks him in his stormy blue eyes, I need to do this now. Bonnie takes a deep breath.
"Look, Nik, I don't think we should continue whatever this is. You have a lot on your plate, and I don't want to burden you anymore." Bonnie blurts out; she drags her teeth along her tongue. She couldn't stand here with him any longer because it made her remember the bond that pulsed between them. She felt his guilt, and the longer the talk, the harder it would be for her to let him go.
Klaus brow knits, his frown deepens, and he observes Bonnie. He thought she was aware of the bond between them and what it meant. Maybe he was wrong. He could feel she was in conflict with this 'break up', but she felt sure it was the right thing to do.
He takes her hands in his, and she looks up to him; she looks distraught.
"Bonnie, you could never be a burden to me," he tells her.
"It's not just that Nik, it's just that I." Bonnie tries to find her words, but she can't. She had her words planned, but right now she couldn't form them, and she realised they might hurt more than she thought they would.
"Whatever it is, how about I decide for myself, okay?" Klaus tells her. Bonnie sighs and goes to speak again, but he kisses her, and she melts. She releases his hands to hold his face.
She kisses him to let him know she missed him but needed to say goodbye, and he kisses her to let her know he wants to stay forever.
They pull away. Bonnie breathes deeply and looks him in the eyes.
"Bonnie," "Nik," they say at the same time. They laugh again, but this time Bonnie's a little sad. She leans forward to be in his embrace, and he wraps his hands around her, his hands playing with the ends of her curls.
"I don't want to hurt you either," Klaus states, and she melts, feeling the vibration of his voice against her chest.
"I'm not scared of you hurting; it comes with being with Mikealson." Bonnie kept the last part to herself. "I'm scared of losing myself, of having to choose," she confesses.
"I would never make you choose Bonnie," Klaus pledges "I'm not your Mystic Falls friends; you are important to me," He states. Bonnie tries to move away but he keeps her in place.
"Look, I know how important your friends are to you, and I know you won't be with me if I become a threat to them so I won't." Klaus swears
"you cant make a promise like that," she groans
"says who?" Klaus asks her
Bonnie sighs, knowing there was no point in arguing with him; she would just go with her first plan and see where this takes her. after all he's immortal and will grow tired of her soon.
She raises her hand and kisses his chin before pulling him so their lips are aligned; his hands are on his shoulders, hers are on her backs. They kiss each other softly, and she finally accepts the bond between them. She pulled away, feeling a bit dazed and satisfied. He placed his forehead on hers, taking in her scent and her shift in energy from when he first arrived.
"Are we done with this break up now?" he asks her, she nods and rolls her eyes but he sees the small smile she's trying to hide, causing him to chuckle and her to pinch him.
After they kiss again, he pulls away and sits on her steps and pulls her down on him, and place his face between the curve of her neck, his breath tickling her.
"There is an old movie showing at the park tomorrow; do you want us to go?" Klaus asks her, she nods.
"Good, and you can tell me what's bothering after, okay?" he pushes.
"Fine," Bonnie says, rolling her eyes.
"Good, is there anything you need before I go?" he asks
"No, the house is finished, so I'm focusing on decorating," Bonnie says, her voice soft and cheery. She still couldn't believe she had found the perfect home.
"Do you need help with that?" Bonnie shakes her head.
"Are you going to call Freya? She's worried that you might be dead somewhere," he exaggerates.
"I was thinking about calling her before you came," she says. "I wanted to talk to her but," she begins but drops her shoulders.
"I understand; I probably would have done worse if I were you," he admits, she actually wanted to go back and burn the mausoleum to the ground and she laughs.
"Are you going to introduce me to your friends? They are staring," Klaus muses, and she turns to see that they are in fact looking out the window.
"Not today; they haven't heard anything good about you," She says, pushing herself off of him and taking his hand. He brings it to his chest dramatically.
"Did you tell them I broke your heart?" he says, smiling, and she giggles.
"Something like that," Bonnie muses. He smiles and pulls her in for another kiss, and she embraces it.
"You have to go, don't you?" Bonnie asks after she pulls away, and he nods.
"Yeah, Freya thinks she figured out where Finn is, and I'm taking her to the airport," Klaus tells her, tracing her cheekbone.
"You are letting her go by herself?" Bonnie asked
"she's the only one who likes him," Klaus sighs
"Fine, bye," she pouts, putting her arms around him and giving him a peck before trying to walk pass, but he pulls her and kisses her on the nose.
"I'll see you tomorrow, little witch," he says before speeding away. Bonnie smiles. All her problems weren't solved, but she was glad to see he was a bit serious about her.
She barely steps through the door before Amaka questions her.
"That's the vampire you almost killed." Her eyes goes wide as Bonnie nods
"You sure y'all are not in a relationship?" Ms. Rene asks; Bonnie laughs and shakes her head.
"So he's your boyfriend?" Amaka asks. Was he? that seem too simple for them. But Amaka's questions don't stop there; she asks how they are together if she almost killed him, how he came inside without an invite, and why he felt different from other vampires.
Bonnie answered most of her questions, and when she was satisfied with her answers, she went to the kitchen to get a piece of cake. She felt Ms. Rene's gaze on her.
"The way he looks at you and holds you You need to be careful; he has a lot of enemies, and if people knew that you were important to him, Ms. Rene stress. Bonnie nodded and sighed; she knew what she was saying.
"I'll protect myself, I promise," Bonnie assures her.
Ms. Rene smiles,
"It would explain why vampires are with you whenever you leave your home." Bonnie rolls her eyes.
She didn't know how he did it, but she never got far into town before someone was following her. He thought it was because he wanted to keep tabs on her, but she's now realising it might be more than that.
