All right, let's get things going on with the next chapter! Even though this is a future Shaggy and future Daphne in the Pup Named universe, I still want to portray some cuteness between the two, so let's get this show on the road! Anyway, enjoy!
EIGHT YEARS AGO...
Shaggy and Daphne were taking in their surroundings... well, not exactly the Shaggy and Daphne that were short and young, but the more older versions, the mature, experienced versions... regardless, the two meddling teens of the future were examining the machine that had now died down as Shaggy was feeling the base of the machine.
"Well, it's still warm..." Shaggy said as he gave a small smile. "So warm, in fact, you can probably roast a tuna sandwich on it, and call it a tuna melt."
Daphne giggled a bit at Shaggy's little food metaphor, before looking around. "I wonder if there's a reverse button that can switch our younger selves back to our correct timeline... I mean, they're probably... no, I'm sure WE are currently still a little frightened because the Ghost of Kilijoumango is still running loose in that theater."
"Does it still work?" Shaggy asked as Daphne easily jumped up on the seat and pushed the button.
She was only met with the sound of clicking as she tried to push the button multiple times. "No... I guess it takes time to warm up..."
"For how long?" Shaggy asked in concern.
Daphne paused for a brief moment as she shut her eyes, as if trying to think about her past. "Let's see... well, when we got zapped in the past... well, our young selves, we ended up in the theater, and we were wandering around..."
"Like, I still remember that creepy ghost that somehow found us... definitely NOT that Clock Monster of Doom, but... it had a similar feel." Shaggy pointed out.
"Weirdly enough, I expected there to be some chase music playing somewhere, hoping those funky dances of ours would probably distract that ghost..." Daphne paused.
"...funky dances?" Shaggy asked.
Daphne smirked. "You know, whenever we had to be chased by a monster, there's always some music playing on the radio that somebody turned on, and whenever we were chased around, we stop somewhere and we do these silly little dances..."
Shaggy blushed furiously as he turned his head. "I assure you, madam, I have no idea what you mean..."
"Come on, Shaggy... I know you can still bust a move. Come on, let me see that little dance, hm?" Daphne smirked.
Shaggy moaned as he covered his head. "Like, come on, Daphne, that dance was embarrassing."
"I promise I won't laugh." Daphne giggled. "In fact, I'll even do my dance with you... the one I always did as a kid..."
"Do we really have time for this? Like, what if the younger version of Scooby walks in or something? I seem to remember that when we came back, he was in the closet. And a certain Clock Monster pulled a surprise on us!" Shaggy pointed out.
Daphne laughed a bit. "If I seem to recall, when our kid selves came back, the pup named Scooby was currently walking out of the closet, so I think he might be a little dazed. Probably won't get up until after we leave."
"Shame, really. I'd have loved to see young Scooby's reaction..." Shaggy chuckled.
"And besides, I think we have, what, ten minutes before the beam gets recharged to full strength? Let's give it a try!" Daphne smiled as she held a position... and started to kick her feet up and move her arms around, flailing them a bit forward as she started to kick dance.
Shaggy could only watch the girl he liked dancing like she was slipping on a banana peel as he couldn't help but examine her. He had to admit, watching her dance an old dance from years ago felt... nostalgic, yet silly. "Like, is that how you really danced back then?"
"Believe it or not!" Daphne smirked as she continued to do her weird dance. "Come on, Shaggy, you remember that old dance you used to do."
"I really shouldn't." Shaggy bit his lip. "It's embarrassing!"
"Come on!" Daphne toyfully whimpered a bit. "If you do this dance for me, I'll buy you dinner."
This caught Shaggy's attention as he fully turned his head towards the dancing Daphne. "To ANY place I pick?"
"Anywhere, anytime. After all, I do have the money for all three of us... including Scooby, if he wants to come along." Daphne giggled.
Shaggy bit his lip, a little hesitant... before shutting his eyes. "Just imagine that there's a scary monster chasing you... and that music is playing on the radio... hip hop style..."
With that, Shaggy opened his eyes as he started to dance around, kicking his feet a bit whilst shuffling his shoulders and twisting his head a couple of times. Shaggy gulped a bit as he kept dancing, saying to himself, "I feel completely ridiculous..."
"Yeah, but we're both a little ridiculous, if you think about it." Daphne laughed a bit as she continued her strange 'dance'.
Shaggy laughed as he continued to imagine the music as he kept up his own strange 'dance'. "Like, dancing like this always brings back memories like this, doesn't it? Sure, they didn't do a lot, but they did help us in distracting all those monsters..."
"Or people in suits." Daphne laughed a bit as she was imagining her own music to keep going with her strange 'dance'. "Remember when we had to solve the mystery of the Sludge Monster?"
"Heh, nothing compared to when we had to take down Dr. Croaker, or the Headless Skateboarder, or Bigwig, or Waitro..." Shaggy laughed a bit.
Daphne blinked twice. "Wait, who was that last one? I don't think we met any ghost or monster with the name 'Waitro'."
Shaggy's eyes widened as he gave a nervous chuckle. "Oh, that may have been a Commander Cool and Mellow Mutt imagination dream Scooby and I had. That one doesn't count."
Daphne blinked a bit, but nodded in understanding as the two continued dancing. Shaggy paused slightly as he noted Daphne's dances, noting how hypnotic they were. Sure, they were a little silly, but the way Shaggy was dancing was silly as well. Still, Shaggy was moving his body slightly closer to Daphne as he gave a smile.
"So, my beautiful rich heiress..." Shaggy smiled as he made an attempt to deepen his voice, before grabbing Daphne's hand, causing her to blush. "Shall we take our dance to the next level?"
Daphne blushed a bit before giggling. "But of course, my handsome hero..."
"Shucks, I'm not really a hero, just trying to get by life..." Shaggy said as the two of them held each other in the ballroom dancing position as the two of them started to twirl around immensely. Sure, there was no music, but the moment between them was perfect, as there didn't seem to be a need for it. And even if there was music, it was all in their heads as they looked at each other, a look of love in their eyes respectively.
Daphne giggled a bit as she blushed. "Even so, you're a hero of a different manner. Maybe not a superhero, like Commander Cool, but the fact that your loyalty always knew no bounds. It's like I'm looking at you, Shaggy, but at a different angle."
The green wearing man chuckled wholeheartedly as he swung and dipped Daphne. "Well, I guess I can say the same about you, Daph."
"How so?" Daphne smiled.
"Like, you were always helping us solve mysteries, and yet, when we were first part of the Scooby Doo Detective Agency, before we renamed it to Mystery Incorporated, you always had a bit of a... haughty nature." Shaggy explained. "Like, always looking at your nails or your looks... and before Velma, you were always the skeptical one, always telling me or the others about how there were no-"
"-such things as ghosts and monsters, yes, I know." Daphne sighed as she looked down. "I'll admit, Shaggy, these moments weren't really my proud moments..."
"But I didn't give up on you, because well, you were, like, amazing. Even when you started to slowly get out of your comfort zone, ever since this fateful day, the day we're in now, I couldn't help but realize that maybe there was more to you than meets the eye." Shaggy smiled. "I can't explain it, but it was like you... grew up a bit."
"Well, most of us have to grow up sometime." Daphne sighed as she looked down, before looking back up at Shaggy. "You're lucky, Shaggy. Even though we've both matured, you still haven't changed by much, and yet... Fred went from a conspiracist maniac to a very good leader, Velma, though smart, went from shy to sassy, and me? Well..."
"I think you went from the most haughtiest girl that cared about her looks, to a rational girl whose main concern is for her friends." Shaggy smiled. "Like, a rock that holds us altogether. You may not think as such, but I see you for the girl you truly want to be. Heck, you even took martial arts to try to improve yourself, that, in my book, is a wonderful way to improve."
Daphne gave a small blush as she looked up at him. "Shaggy... you're very sweet. I don't want you to change who you are. Same goes for Scooby, he's just as wonderful as he was the day you introduced him to us."
Shaggy couldn't help but smile a bit as he looked over at Daphne's pretty eyes. "You really think that of me and Scoob?"
Daphne giggled as she looked down at her green scarf. "Do you remember the day you got me this scarf?"
Shaggy chuckled a bit. "How could I forget? One of my old shirts sort of got torn during a case, it was ruined... but when I tried to mend it back, I guess I thought about you, and thought... maybe my shirt would make a good accessory for you. I don't know why I thought that, but I figured green would go good with the cute little purple dress you wore."
"It was a little better than the red bandana, it totally clashed." Daphne giggled. "But, when you helped me put on the scarf you transformed from your shirt, it made me realize that not only did you have a good eye for fashion, but made me realize that green and purple were a good match."
Shaggy smiled as the two of them looked at each other with pure, loving eyes. "Like, I just thought you'd look perfect."
"...Even after getting new purple dresses, I never got rid of the scarf." Daphne giggled. "Call it sentimentality, but I always wore it as a bit of a symbol to show that well, I liked you."
Shaggy smiled. "I always liked you as well... but, maybe... deep down, I think I wanted it to be more?"
Daphne's eyes began to brighten up as she and Shaggy looked at each other. "Shaggy, are you asking me..."
Shaggy bit his lip nervously, wondering if he was actually going to do it. "Daphne, I know things have been happening a lot, and it's crazy, but... will you..."
Daphne's eyes widened brightly as she looked eager, the two of them stopped dancing for a moment as their faces leaned closely to each other... closer and closer...
BANG.
Both teenagers jumped as they turned to see a very familiar looking clock monster ghost walking in as the monster's eyes looked in shock. "What is going on here?"
Shaggy yelped nervously as Daphne groaned. "Right... we're in the past, forgot there was a Clock Monster running loose..."
There was no time to think as the two teens quickly made a run for it. The Clock Monster narrowed his eyes angrily as he gave chase to the two.
As soon as they left the room, the young pup named Scooby Doo came out of the closet, looking rather dazed as he rubbed his head. "Roof..." Scooby Doo, still dressed as Mellow Mutt, looked around in confusion to see an empty room. Immediately, the young pup gulped as he tried to give a call out. "Rommander Rool? Rorgeous Ral? Rere are rou?"
And that is this chapter complete! How did you guys like it? Next time, back to the future with the young Shaggy and young Daphne still being chased by the strange monster as they do a classic Pup Named Scooby Doo chase scene, with music playing! Will these two kids be able to get away from the Ghost of Kilijoumango in time? And in the past, as Shaggy and Daphne are being chased by the Clock Monster, how will they be able to distract the monster all the while not changing the past too much? That'll be something special for later! Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, folks!
