Fuyuki City, Japan
2004
Fire crackles across the ruined landscape, as if hell itself was unleashed upon the city. The wind blew smoke and embers through the air. Growling filled the air, before an explosion went off. A man in blue flipped back through the smoke, landing on the cracked road. Runes formed around him, firing balls of pure flame into the smoke. The man had a smirk on his face before his eyes quickly widened. Red eyes stared at something flying through the smoke. The man slammed his staff into the ground; wood sprung up like a tree, blocking a missile. First an explosion, then a shockwave sending the man flying through another building.
The man was struck against a wall, groaning as he slowly got up. He ran his hand through his pure blue hair. He hurt like hell, his bones felt like they were shattered; he stabilized himself with his staff, spitting blood from his mouth. He looked around, seeing he was in a destroyed skyscraper, barely keeping itself together. The blue man stared at the hole he came through, dust and smoke covering the view outside, yet he could still see four orange demon-like eyes staring down at him. He heard the sounds of engines roaring like a rocket going through the atmosphere.
"Ya know lad, you should know to never corner a Celt," the man said attnepting to straighten his posture, spinning his staff briefly.
The source of the eyes and nose let out an animalistic growl. Four scarlet armored hands shot from the smoke, latching onto the edges of the wall. The man was about to leap towards the monstrosity as it revealed itself more and more, until a loud- BOOM! The creature turned away, sensing something changing in the air, that the Celt couldn't. The man paused as it flew off, thrusters blasting dust upon the blue man. He let out a few raspy coughs, then gave an utterly confused look.
"So that's what they call: the luck of the Irish," the man noted before letting out a chuckle, stumbling his way out of the building. "The only thing that would make this better would be if I was a Lancer."
A couple miles away, in the very center of the city. A young boy and girl lay in the center of the warm, well-worn road. The boy was taller than the girl with standard black hair, contrasting with the girl's short red hair -which was in a side ponytail. Both wore the same white clothing as if it were a uniform -which it was.
Another girl -with shoulder-length pink hair- ran toward them. She held an unnaturally and most likely impractically large shield. The girl also wore black armor -which wrapped seemed slightly too tight. The girl knelt by the two unconscious teenagers, who both let out a pained groan.
"Hey, Senpais, maybe I need to use your official titles: Masters, you both need to get up," the girl said kindly and quietly, looking down at the two.
Her eyes shot around the area, as the sounds of marching entered her ears. The girl turned around, looking about the desolate and barren landscape of the burnt city. She gulped as the marching grew and grew; then at the horizon, an army of skeletons marched along the road. She read books and stories of the undead, learning how necromancers used them.
"Senpais, please get up," She begged quickly standing up, and raising her shield toward the marching threat. "If you don't get up I'll kill you!"
The girl gasped when she said that, it was unlike her. She assumed it must've been stress. The two teenagers shot up and gripped each other out of fear, like cartoon characters.
"Please don't kill us," the two shouted utterly terrified.
"I'm sorry, that came out wrong, I meant: they will kill you," the pink-haired girl apologized, turning toward the two.
"Mash, what are you doing here and what happened to you?" the boy asked raising an eyebrow, before looking around. "Where is here anyway?"
The two teenagers stood up and brushed themselves down. The redheaded girl rubbed her head, her hazel eyes dazed slightly, before shaking herself awake.
"We are in the singularity, Senpai," Mash answered the boy.
"Singularity? I don't remember any Singular-," the boy began before he was cut off by the redhead.
"Oh, I remember, it was our first day at Chaldea during initiation," the girl began rubbing her chin
"It's still our first day," the boy muttered. "Wait were awake for initiation, Gudako!?"
"Yeah, nothing can keep me asleep with the amount of caffeine in my system, Ritsuka," the redhead -Ritsuka- expressed, with an almost evil look in her eye.
Mash nervously looked back at the skeleton army, which approached ever closer. She gave a small gulp looking back at the two twins' banter.
"Um, maybe we should save the banter for later," Mash said quietly and slightly nervous.
Ritsuka laughed at his sister, before looking over to Mash. His eyes widened when he saw the horde of bones and armor. Blue eyes shake staring at the unimaginable.
"Gudako, do still have caffeine in your system?" he asked stepping back slightly.
"Yeah, wh- n-nevermind," Gudako cut herself off as she sees the skeletons march toward them.
"Don't worry Senpais, I will deal with them," Mash declared, attempting to hide her nervous tone.
She raised her shield as the skeletons reached them. Mash ran toward them, swinging her shield against one of their heads, sending it flying. It landed at Ritsuka's feet, causing him to let out a high-pitched scream; the boy kicked it like a football toward a skeleton. A skeleton holding a sword rushed toward Mash, slashing its sword upon her raised shield. Sparks flew from each strike from the sword-wielding skeleton. A skeleton wielding a spear ran toward the girl, thrusting the polearm toward her. Mash pushed the sword skeleton out of the way before bashing the spear skeleton with the force of a car crashing into its head. The skeleton's skull shattered into dust as Mash turned towards the sword skeleton. She charged toward it, blocking a strike toward her stomach as she got close. The shield-wielding girl kicked it, before jamming the shield into its ribs. The skeleton staggered just before Mash slammed her shield down on the back of it's neck.
The skeletons stepped back before running. Ritsuka and Gudako looked at Mash in both awe, amazement, and terror. Mash was panting slightly, not a lot though.
"That was amazing," Gudako cheered with stars in her eyes.
"Were you always that powerful, Mash?" Ritsuka asked rather curious.
"No, I always had to stay behind after combat training. I couldn't even do a pull-up," Mash said sadly.
"You could've fooled me," Ritsuka said with a smile putting his fists on his hips.
"Yeah, you were like an action hero, I especially loved it when Ritsuka screamed like a girl, fufu" Gudako exclaimed with a giggle.
Ritsuka stared at Gudako slightly offended. "I did not scream," he corrected falsely.
"What do you call it?"
"A yelp."
"Yeah right."
Mash felt sort awkward standing there while the two bickered, she could tell if it was playful or not, though to most it would seem playful. Mash soon noticed a translucent, ghost-like figure glitching into existence near Ritsuka and Gudako. Mash let out a small gasp as she was startled until she realized, who it was: Dr. Romani Archaman.
"Fantastic, I finally got through. This is Dr. Romani Archaman of Chaldea, do you read me." Roman asked, seemingly not noticing the twins.
"AH," Ritsuka screamed jumping back behind Mash, startled by the sudden appearance.
"Fufufu," Gudako giggled at her brother's antic. "Told you, you scream like a girl."
Mash stepped up toward the hologram, wielding her shield in her hand. "This is Mash Kyrielight, a memeber of A-Team, we read you, doctor."
"Oh, thank god you are alive, who's with you? We're still trying to gain two-way visual contact," Roman stated to the pink haired girl.
"The only people with me are Ritsuka and Gudako. Rayshifting and Master's compatibility are both satisfactory. Please register them as researchers," Mash requested.
Roman raised an eyebrow in confusion, running his hand through his long hair. "So they got dragged into the Rayshift -heh- I'm surprised they didn't lose their existence."
"Please don't talk about us like we're not here," Ritsuka requested as he brushed himself off.
"And what do you mean 'lose their existence'!?" Gudako exclaimed, her eyebrows furrowed.
Roman rubbed the back of his neck with an embarrassed smile. "Sorry, about that Fujimaru-san, I will answer that later, but first things first," Roman began as the sound became static briefly, "Aha, visual contact has been established! Oh my god, Mash what are you wearing, it's shameless! I didn't raise you to look like that!"
"Doctor, could you please keep it down," Mash said softly, rubbing her head as she was starting to get a headache. "I transformed into this, I couldn't help Senpais in Chaldea's uniform. Check my physical condition. It should explain everything," she stated
Roman's eyes widened, "Whoa, your physical strength, magical curves, everything! Everything improved, haha! How did that happen? It's hardly human!?"
"You mean she wasn't always like that," Ritsuka asked before Gudako elbowed him, leading him to rub his arm in pain.
"No, she could hardly do a pull-up," Roman stated, absolutely surprised.
"I already told you that, Senpai," she said with a soft, nervous irritation. "I became a Servant, I don't remember how, but it seems I only survived by fusing with a Servant. A servant who was summoned to help aid in the Singularity F investigation. During the explosion, his master must've perished. So in the last seconds of its life, he forged a contract with me: in return for giving me his Noble Phantasm and abilities, he requests that I eliminate the cause of the singularity."
Mash stood firmly as she retold the tale. Ritsuka was planning to make a somewhat sarcastic comment related to memory but figured that this was the wrong time to do so. He sighed while Gudako listened excitedly.
"That would mean, haha! You're a Demi-servant, we succeeded," Roman cheered excitedly, the hologram pumping the air.
Ritsuka looked at Gudako, whose excited expression faded into confusion. "Would you mind filling us in on what is going on!?"
Roman was about to answer when his face was flashed by a flashing red light. His happy expression faded into a scared one as if he saw the reaper himself.
"I would, but unfortunately, I am getting a powerful signature heading toward your location," Roman apologized, and a serious face appeared on the doctor's.
A/N: Sorry if this chapter felt too similar to the original story so far, the next one should have more Destiny stuff in it, along with background for those who don't know the plot of FGO.
